hans zimmer concert tour

Award winning film composer Hans Zimmer will bring his smash-hit tour Hans Zimmer Live to North America this Fall with arena dates across the United States and Canada, including a birthday show at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Following a sold-out European run, the tour marks the North American return of the “Hollywood Rebel” (according to the BBC) who rocked Coachella in 2017 with his outstanding live band and orchestra. Audiences will be swept away from the sound of the first note and journey through an array of well-loved scores throughout Zimmer’s career. In a groundbreaking audio and visual show, the multiple Academy Award® and Grammy winning Zimmer, his band and the orchestra will perform a selection of the composer’s scores from some of cinema’s biggest films. The newly arranged concert suites include music from Gladiator , Pirates of the Caribbean , The Dark Knight , Interstellar , The Lion King , The Last Samurai and Dune , for which Zimmer received his second Academy Award®.

I’m thrilled to return to perform in North America with my wonderful band and excited to share this phenomenal show,” said Zimmer. “I love this feeling of uniting my family of extraordinary musicians with you, the audience. Just an unbelievable group of talents, who in my opinion, are some of the best musicians in the world. But nothing would have meaning without the good grace and support of you, the other part of the family – the audience. Ultimately, the music connects us all, and I promise you this: we will always play our best, straight from the heart.”

“Hans Zimmer LIVE” features more of two hours of new reimagined arrangements of some of the most popular compositions by the L.A.-based composer icon. The album was recorded during the highly successful same-named concert tour in Europe in spring of 2022 for which Zimmer created new “suites” from some of his most recognizable themes and melodies from the Academy Award © -winning scores for Dune and The Lion King, as well as such contemporary classics as The Dark Knight, X Men: Dark Phoenix, Dunkirk, Gladiator, Inception, Interstellar, The Last Samurai, Man of Steel, James Bond: No Time to Die, Pirates of the Caribbean and Wonder Woman 1984. Together with his 20 piece-band “The Disruptive Collective” featuring a gallery of long-time musical companions, Odessa Orchestra & Friends and Choir, Hans Zimmer has created an epic musical spectacle melding atmospheric classical arrangements and electronic elements into the powerful sound of a rock band.

Hans Zimmer (born September 12, 1957) is a world renowned German pianist, film composer and music producer, hailing from Frankfurt am Main, West Germany.

Born to a musical mother and an inventive, engineering father, Zimmer took piano lessons at an early age however stopped after a few weeks not liking the discipline of formal lessons. After this time Zimmer began experimenting with the piano, making modifications to its design by adding the likes of chainsaws, which marked the beginning of Hans Zimmer’s excursions into electronic synthesisers.

After moving to England, Zimmer began writing the music for television commercials during which time he met the musicians Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes and formed the rock group entitled The Buggles. The band subsequently released the worldwide smash hit “Video Killed the Radio Star”, which became the first ever video broadcasted on MTV in 1979.

Citing the influences of composers Ennio Morricone, Elmer Bernstein, John Barry, and more notably Stanley Meyers, Zimmer directed his efforts to writing film scores, using both classical and electronic techniques of sound production. After founding Lillie Yard Studios in London alongside Stanley Meyers, the pair scored the soundtracks to the films, “Moonlighting”, “Success is The Best Revenge”, “Insignificance” and the hit “My Beautiful Launderette”. The success of these soundtracks introduced Zimmer to Hollywood, and was subsequently invited to assist Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Byrne score Bertolucci’s epic “The Last Emperor”.

After a handful of other film scores including “Wonderland”, “Paperhouse”, “Burning Secret”, and “A World Apart” in 1986, Zimmer was enlisted to compose the soundtrack for “Rain Man” featuring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman. The soundtrack led to an Oscar nomination and Zimmer becoming the go-to guy for scoring high-profile prestige films including “Driving Miss Daisy”, “Days of Thunder”, and “Backdraft”. By this time Zimmer had focused his attentions on writing action movie scores for the likes of “Thelma and Louise”, “Peacemaker”, and Grammy Award-winning “Crimson Tide”.

After scoring “The Power of One” in 1992 using African choirs and drums, Walt Disney Animation Studios contacted Zimmer to compose the soundtrack for “The Lion King”. Zimmer subsequently won an Academy Award for Best Original Score, a Golden Globe, and two Grammys for the soundtrack. The musician continued to compose soundtracks for a stream of films throughout the 2000s including “Gladiator”, “The Last Samurai”, The Da Vinci Code”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Sherlock Holmes” and “Inception”. The result of which turned Zimmer into one of the most respected film composers in the world, earning a star on the “Boulevard der Stars” in Berlin, Germany, four Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, and four Classical BRIT Awards.

Live reviews

This was easily the best concert I had ever attended in my life. I was first bewildered by his choices to open with Madagascar, but then my concerns quickly melted away with Crimson Tide, Gladiator and the brilliant Pirates of the Caribbean. Then came the highlight of the show, which was the ridiculously brilliant "Chevaliers de Sangreal" from The Da Vinci Code... I never thought anything could be better than the original, till I heard the violin version that night. Wow. The ambience, lighting and performances on that piece were just exquisite. I compared that to a YouTube video from Wembley and everything was just a big step down in London. Maybe it was the fact it's his first concert, but damn, the lighting in Paris' Palais des Congrees was easily the best I had ever seen in a show, period. The audio felt exactly as if I'm in a movie theater listening to heavily edited post-production tracks and not listening to a live performance with all its imperfections. That had the best of both worlds, and it was simply an achievement that nobody other than Zimmer can pull off. Next, we moved to "Superhero territory" with Man of Steel where he chose the best track of that brilliant score, and played it faithfully with no changes, and again it felt exactly like watching the movie, which was a huge relief to me. Unfortunately, The Dark Knight remix wasn't so lucky, as he had strangely decided to blend many of the tracks into one long one, which felt alien to my ears. This is coming from someone who listened religiously to Batman Begins and TDKR scores everyday for several years. You had to listen closely to know which track was playing... After spending too long on a remixed opening that felt like it wasn't on the original score, you can start to make out Molossus, and he ended it before the good part and moved to something else. He was a little too generous with the Bane scores, and decided against playing the brilliant "Why do we fall?" score. Overall, Batman could have been way better served that today. Moving on, Interstellar was just perfect and was another faithful adaptation of the original that I wished TDK had received. Most importantly, he gifted us an incredible "No Time for Caution" which was the best score in the movie and wasn't even released in the OST.... I gasped when I heard the clock ticking. Then he bowed, said thank you, I love you and left. I was devastated to see Inception left out. I noticed it wasn't in the playlist but was thinking "no way, he'll surprise us and play it"... Well, the theater stayed dark even after all the musicians had left, but the rest of the crowds knew better... They started cheering intensely, with an even louder applause, and after 3-5 long minutes of intense applause, we started hearing the Inception BWAAAAHM sound... everyone went crazy.... he then came back on stage and his musicians followed... and BOOM... INCEPTION TIME. He played maybe 4-5 tracks, ending the night with an incredible "Time" performance. I will be saving for the US tour which I'm sure he'll deliver one time. Easily a 4.999* night (bec of the unfaithful Batman adaptation)

Such an amazing performance by an amazing man and orchestra! The performance went on longer than I thought (Approximately 8 pm to passed 11 pm) so I had to leave before the concert was finished.

The sound was pretty good from where I was sat (stage left block S5 Row U). Minor annoyance was that a black curtain at the side of the stage obscured our seats from seeing part of the orchestra.

The bad points were firstly the venue. The chairs in the balcony were plastic, cheap and not very comfortable. The steps up to Row U in block S5 was very high with steps that were not lit and could likely cause someone to fall. I saw no accessibility options to get up to this block, nor was I offered assistance by staff (I walk with a cane).

The bad points were secondly the crowd. With minutes to go till curtain up there were still people filtering in trying to find their chairs in the dark. Even those in the front row could not sit still and were still coming in after the show had started. When will venues put patrons comfort ahead of profit? I had to get up out of my chair many times in the first 2 songs because of late comers. The show start time was on the ticket. Plus those that felt they needed to get up after each song annoying fellow concert goers that were trying to enjoy the show.

Even though there were negative points due to the venue and the minority of concert goers, it was an excellent show. The sound, the light presentation and songs played were stunning. Would have been good to have a curfew of 11 pm so that those with far to travel (like myself) could still get home after watching the entire show (I had to miss the last 2 songs).

I will definitely see Hans Zimmer again in future!!

The revelation of Hans Zimmer was a brilliant entertaining evening, the sight of a 75 piece Orchestra, on the Hammersmith stage before a note was played was stunning, the evening Kicked off with. Maestro Hans seated at the piano tinkling the theme to driving Miss Daisy a folky bluesy theme introduced us to the band, and expanded to the full orchestra, then the Crouch End choir, seated at the back wall . It was amazing that all the musicians fitted on the stage, and what musicians, superb ,.the percussion section headed by the amazing drummer Sat am Ramgotra, what a beard . Gladiator, Pirates, Lion King,TheDa Vinci code took up most of the first half , the Theme from Crimson Tide very dark , and Gothic was incredible , with a fab light show to underline the score . Hans introduced each piece with some entertaining banter . The second half introduced Johnny Marr who looked about 25 , I don't know what pills he is on , but I want them . Man of Steel was the highlight Johnny Marr conjured some moody sounds from his axe, standing ovations well deserved . Then the encore Inception, withe guitar sound rising above the Orchestra . Brilliant outstanding , I forgot to add the venue , was an inspired choice an old cinema a perfect setting with a superb sound This extravaganza deserves to run and run , the revelation didn't need screens in the background, the music says it all . Unforgettable .

They don’t give out stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for nothing, and I think it’s fair to say that Hans Zimmer has more than earned his. Over a career spanning nearly forty years, the German composer has produced more than one hundred and fifty film scores, with some of his best work coming in recent years and involving repeated collaborations with Christopher Nolan; his scores for The Dark Knight and Inception won him awards, and also proved his flexibility, with the latter seeing him work with a conventional rock guitarist in the form of Johnny Marr.

Since the turn of the century, he’s demonstrated his penchant for subtle drama on the likes of Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator and The Last Samurai; he’s always looking for new sounds to incorporate, too, such as the Romani influences he incorporated on the score for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. He continues to play live, too, making him one of the busiest composers in the business; he’s set to prove his versatility at a two Hammersmith Apollo shows later this year, with two sets - one featuring his classic film scores performed faithfully, and another welcoming guests from the rock and pop world as he re-imagines some of his more recent work.

Hans Zimmer, the celebrated German composer has composed music for some of this centuries most recognisable pieces of film including The Lion King, Crimson Tide, The Thin Red Line and Gladiator. You have most likely heard Zimmer's work whilst at the cinema over the time and you may not have even realised it was him.

However he does have a strong fan base as well as audiences who wish to see the musician simply for his iconic status. Recently performing a magnificent set at London's Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, he played beautiful expansive scores from some of the most recognisable pieces of cinema such as 'The Da Vinci Code' and demonstrated the incredible influence his music has had on modern film.

A beautiful vocalist accompanies him for a tribute to his work on The Dark Knight which receives a standing ovation at its finale. An unexpected guest appearance for the audience was American vocalist Pharrell Williams who performed a classical version of 'Happy'. Zimmer proves his versatility and intelligent as both a composer and musician who clearly adores music in all senses.

One of the best experiences of my life. Hans's music truly is full of masterpieces. I've been listening to his soundtracks for 6 years now, and they've definitely become a part of me. Without even realizing, I have memorized the motions of almost every song I listened to, and hearing everything live where the music was physically pumping through me was truly, truly incredible. He played all of my favorites, going through every song I had wanted to hear (and even the ones I didn't know I wanted to hear). Walked away with zero percent disappointment. His tribute to Heath Ledger and the Aurora, CO shooting victims was very touching and very appreciated. Thank you for touring, Hans. You've definitely made some dreams come true.

The best concert I was ever at!!.

the whole set up was brilliant starting of with 5/6 playing the opening melody then the curtain came up to reveal the percussion section with the most talented drummer I have ever seen some of his solos were just amazing.then another curtain opened to reveal the rest of the orchestra along with the choir. The song selection was excellent opening with crimson tide which was defiantly the best working his way through gladiator lion king batman interstellar and more. And of course ending it with time. He was also very funny and introduced each piece of work with a nice story. 10 out of 10. If he comes back I'll be bringing everyone along

It was truly Amazing! One of the best concerts of my life! It had everything, the cool and beautiful, pumpy music from movies and combined with Hans and the lights on stage, it made an experience few will forget. There must have been so much work and time to accomplish this kind of show, not just for the music, but even for the Lights and effects on stage. I highly recommend this show, because this is exactly my kind of music and I love Hans work and how he composses the songs, He is a real genius! Our modern Mozart.

Went to see HZ at Wembley Arena. This guy, his band, the string and wind sections plus choir made more noise than some of the rock bands I've been to see. And they spent a lot more time on stage than a lot of others have done too. Accompanied by excellent visuals, together with some background information by Hans Zimmer on the tracks played, all my favourites were here: The Thin Red Line, the Batman trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, plus others. Would definitely go again

This was my first Hans Zimmer concert amd I can say that yesterday was the best night of my life. I listen Hans Zimmer for a very long time. I came from Turkey for just his concert. Nobody listen him in Turkey and probably thats why he never came in Turkey. I couldn't walk when I was going to the concert but rven I went there anyway. So yeah I love him and his songs. I can't make a desicion about what song is better because I think all of them is beautiful.
