Quite literally worth every cent of my money and moment of my time. Venue was very easy to get into, suprisingly well air-conditioned even with the close quarters of the crowd, and Mitski was simply phenomenal. The storytelling presented through the songs and her interpretive performance, especially with how often she was moving around the stage or on the tables, was mind blowing and made it easy to see her despite the countless other individuals in front me. Plus the band livr gave such a good sound to her already stunning discography, I suggest seeing her if you get the chance!

Seeing Mitski perform live is like the feeling of reading someone's heartrending diary while they're standing in front of you, and you have their permission to do it, because somehow the two of you have reached some point that this is necessary. And then you cry because even pain can be beautiful, and that only makes it worse, and better.

I got stranded in Newcastle and ended up spending way more money than I originally meant to, in order to stay alive, but I'm gonna say it was worth it.

Every indie alternative fan out there go to see her if you have a chance. And sing along and dance if you can. Nothing is more satisfying than screaming on top of your lung ”your mother wouldn't approve of how my mother raised me” ”if you want to be mean be mean to me” ”I'm not gonna be what my daddy wants me to be”. Live it up boys and girls. Peace.

My third time seeing her and definitely my favorite. Just Mitski and her blue acoustic Fender, her music was more poignant and painstaking than ever. I don't think a single person left Colony that night without having cried, including Mitski herself! An absolute legend, honored to have seen her in such an intimate setting. 100% recommend seeing her.

She was amazing! Her voice was and will always be incredible! In between songs she talked about her experiances with haunting songs (since the venue was called the haunt) and at the end we managed to meet her, in was just ana amazing experience- by the end I was speechless. 20/10 love her so much

She is truly stunning. Her voice is crazy beautiful live and recorded, and her expressions on stage are beautiful. Such a well done show, would see her again in a heartbeat. Her openers The Overcoats were also stunning. They created so much energy with their set; I would also see them again.

What a great show. Mitski is awesome live. The audio was a little off, with her voice low in the mix at the start. She fixed that shit immediately. I hope Mitski makes it big and ends up in stadiums, but this place was small and it was a great way to see her music. Awesome show.

Mitski Expands 2024 US Tour

Including shows with Ethel Cain, Arlo Parks, and Laufey

Mitski  has added a new leg of US tour dates set for this summer and fall.

The new dates kick off with a pair of shows in Detroit, Michigan on August 27th and 28th and conclude with a show in Palo Alto, California on September 25th. Along the way, she’ll hit cities like Washington D.C., Atlanta, Austin, and Denver.

For this leg of her tour, Mitski has selected some stellar openers, including Alvvays, Arlo Parks, Ethel Cain, and Laufey.

Mitski at All Points East review: a theatrical, bewitching set from the folk pop star

Mitski ’s off-kilter folk pop is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a TikTok hit, but the musician’s intricate anthems of loneliness, hope and desire were embraced by a new generation during COVID and they haven’t let go since.

It’s given the once-comfortably cult Mitski a breakout moment that even she has seemed surprised by. Earlier this year, she played four nights at London’s Eventim Apollo in support of 2023’s gorgeous, lovelorn album The Land is Inhospitable And So Are We and on Sunday night, she returned to the capital to headline All Points East Festival in Victoria Park.

Rather than shy away from all the attention though, the biggest show of her already-ambitious The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We tour saw Mitski loud and proud about the unique world she has created. “I cannot escape the spotlight,” she giggled onstage after playfully trying to outrun the lights following her.

The show opened with the dreamy Everyone, as Mitski threw herself into the heavily stylised show. A physical performer, every song had moments of choreography that ranged from sleek interpretative dance to cartoonish dog impressions with giddy melodrama the flavour of the night.

Three songs into the theatrical, bewitching set, Mitski broke character and addressed the audience. “I’m so happy you’re here. You made it,” she said, before she encouraged the crowd to limber up. “You didn’t think you needed that, did you,” she added before she dived back into her surreal world of self-expression.

It was definitely not a conventional festival headline set. Production was pretty much a chair and a series of spotlights and despite being backed by a seven-piece band, the entire show rested squarely on Mitski’s shoulders as both a vocalist and a dancer. It could have been self-indulgent if it didn’t inspire such communal joy.

Sure, a bulk of her back catalogue cycles through loss and loneliness, but the likes of First Love/Late Spring and Love Me More offered soaring lessons in demanding what you want while the country twang of I Don’t Smoke, the jubilant pop of Pink In The Night and the fuzzy acceptance of Washing Machine Heart inspired carefree dance parties throughout the crowd.

From viral smash My Love Mine All Mine [1.1billion Spotify streams and counting] to the twinkling Nothing, a song about romance at the end of the world, the entire show celebrated the power Mitski’s music wields.

It didn’t matter how the enthralled audience first discovered it, there was a warm unity throughout Victoria Park as the 24-song setlist pulled from across her past decade of music. More than anything, the show was proof that Mitski can play massive shows to thousands of people without sacrificing the artsy intimacy that has always set her apart.

Let the Mitski renaissance begin.

The singer-songwriter marked her return on Tuesday with a new single and music video, titled “Working for the Knife,” as well as the announcement of a spring 2022 tour in North America and Europe. Though Mitski released a song for horror film “The Turning,” collaborated with Allie X and provided the soundtrack for graphic novel “This Is Where We Fall” in 2020, “Working for the Knife” is her first major release since her 2018 album “Be the Cowboy.”

Over synth-heavy instrumentation, “Working for the Knife” seems to be a somber reflection on growing up and falling victim to the non-stop culture of work inherent in capitalist societies. The track was produced by Mitski’s longtime collaborator Patrick Hyland.

“It’s about going from being a kid with a dream, to a grown up with a job, and feeling that somewhere along the way you got left behind,” Mitski said of the track in a statement. “It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognize your humanity, and seeing no way out of it.”

Mitski Shares New Song & Tour Dates For Spring 2022

This is not a drill!

After nearly two years of silence, Mitski has returned with her first new music in over three years. Titled “ Working For The Knife, ” the acclaimed musician’s gritty new single arrives with an accompanying music video, and the announcement of an upcoming spring 2022 tour in North America and Europe , set to kick off in February 2022. They will be her first live shows since wrapping up her Be The Cowboy tour in September 2019, when she announced that she’d be going on an indefinite hiatus and deleted her social media.

The heavy synth and guitar track, produced by her longtime collaborator Patrick Hyland, arrived with an intimate music video shot inside the dim and dramatically lit interiors of The Egg, a performance venue in Albany, New York.

Directed by Zia Anger with Ashley Connor directing photography, the video begins with Mitski sulking about the cavernous premises in a black cowboy hat and matching coat, which she later unveils to reveal a silky blue jumpsuit underneath. She dances around the theatre — even getting on a handrail and licking it — as she sings solemnly about feeling like the world is moving on without her, and “working for the knife,” which we’re interpreting to be a not-so-subtle metaphor for capitalism.

“It’s about going from being a kid with a dream, to a grown up with a job, and feeling that somewhere along the way you got left behind,” Mitski wrote of the song in a press release. “It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognize your humanity, and seeing no way out of it.”

Since lockdown, there’s been no shortage of art released centered around that specific feeling of dehumanization by the wider systems of power that be, but Mitski’s “Working the Knife” stands out. As with all her music, she nails the issue right on the head while drilling deeper into its complexities. At the end of the video, after the music’s faded away, Mitski stands alone onstage as an imaginary crowd cheers her on and she continues dancing — desperately, panting; at the end of the frenzied choreography, she collapses onto the ground and looks up with a grin into the camera. Despite it all, one can’t deny that there’s still some sick pleasure to be derived from the system’s approval.

Mitski released Be The Cowboy in August 2018. The 14-track-album was a breakout for the beloved singer who’d already amassed a sizable cult following with her previous four records, Lush , Retired From Sad, New Career In Business , Bury Me At Makeout Creek , and Puberty 2 .

Her forthcoming spring 2022 tour kicks off February 17, 2022 in Asheville, North Carolina and ends May 19 in Munich, Germany. Read on for the full list of dates and cities below, and how to buy tickets.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – If anyone were to get a sore arm from throwing a ceremonial first pitch, it might be Eitan Levine .

Levine, a stand-up comic and cancer survivor from Harlem, New York, has set a record for most ceremonial first pitches thrown at ballgames. And this week he has four consecutive ceremonial tosses in ballparks in the Buckeye state, including three in Northeast Ohio.
