Bangalore to Wayanad Road Trip Experience | A 2022 Memorable Wayanad Blog
Bangalore to Wayanad blog- We just returned after a fantastic road trip from Bangalore to Wayanad and our summer holidays in a beautiful resort called Abad Brookside at Wayanad.
Read my travel blog to know more about our driving experience from Bangalore to Wayanad through the Bandipur Tiger Reserve (Karnataka side) and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary (Kerala side).
Update- With the opening of the Bangalore- Mysore expressway, your journey time to Wayand will reduce by a minimum 1 to 2 Hours depending on when you leave Bangalore traffic :)
WHY WANAYAD BLOG?
Wayanad, one of the best-recommended tourist destinations in India , is a hill station located in Kerala and is close to the border of Karnataka. Located in the southern tip of the Deccan plateau.
Wayanad is a perfect holiday destination in Kerala. Surrounded by hills, mountains, valleys, dense forests, and plantations, there is no better place in a short driving distance from Bangalore for a relaxing holiday.
With a 5-6 hours drive from Bangalore, one gets to enjoy the best of both states.
While most of the drive through the Bangalore – Mysore road was pretty much through the well-built highways, as soon as we approach the Kerala border, the scene changes completely with the lush green blessing of nature.
ROAD TRIP FROM BANGALORE TO WAYANAD
We love road trips. That’s the best time we get to enjoy with kids since they are locked up in the car and have limited access to other spoiler toys like laptops.
We have been planning a few road trips lately but didn’t work out primarily because of the schooling of our children.
Finally, the perfect time came up. Schools were closed for the summer holidays and my son had just completed his 10th. He scored amazingly good in his 10th exams and we wanted to spend a few days together to celebrate.
After a few discussions and debates, we chose a trip to Bangalore and Wayanad.
I will write a few separate travel stories about our experience in Bangalore and Wayanad but this one is all about our amazing driving experience in the Bangalore – Wayanad route.
CHECKING BANGALORE-WAYANAD ROUTE
Usually, we don’t plan for road trips. The decisions are usually made at the last minute and we pack up and get started the very next day. It wasn’t very different this time as well. The decision was made just the day before the trip.
I quickly verified the insurance documents, filled fuel, made sure the spare tire has proper air pressure, and renewed the emission certificate. Also did some quick shopping to ensure kids have enough stuff to eat while driving even though stopping by the restaurant is one of the attractions for the kids on the road trips.
Kids were excited when we talked about Bangalore since the Snow city in Bangalore was one of the places they wanted to visit for quite a long time.
Also, we looked for the best resorts in Wayanad and shortlisted Abad Brookside located at Vythiri after considering the ambiance, amenities, etc.
One of the main demands from the kids was, the resort should have a swimming pool and indoor/outdoor sports facilities. We parents wanted a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. Brookside met our requirements perfectly well and we were glad that we picked it for our holidays in Wayanad.
BANGALORE TO WAYANAD ROUTES
There are 3 routes from Bangalore to Wayanad and all three of them go via Mysore and have about the same distance.
- Route 1 : Bangalore – Mysore – Hunsur- Nagarhole – Kutta – Kartikulam – Mananthavady
- Route 2 : Bangalore – Mysore – HD Kote – Bavali – Kartikulam – Mananthavady
- Route 3 : Bangalore – Mysore – Gundlupet – Muthanga (Bandipur forest) – Sulthan Bathery
Since our goal was to enjoy the drive, we chose the most scenic route – Route #3 via Bandipur forest.
Our original plan was to start from Bangalore early in the morning at about 4 am so that we can reach the Bandipur forest entrance by 6 am when the gate opens for vehicles.
The advantage of entering the forest in the early morning is, we have a much higher chance of spotting animals that are still roaming around until the roads get busy with vehicles.
& WE GOT LATE
However, we got a bit late and so decided to push our travel to the evening so that we can spot some animals which come close to the roads at sunset.
We started from Bangalore in the afternoon. It was probably the wrong decision to travel in the afternoon since the roads in Bangalore were crowded. It took a while to exit the crowded city limits. Even after entering the Bangalore-Mysore Express Highway, the roads were full of slow-moving vehicles all over.
Our first stop was at Taj Biryani Paradise for a late lunch. The name made us think that they will have a lot of choices of Biryani but had just one type, even though they had a variety of other food. However, it was very good food, and everyone enjoyed the lunch.
Taj Biryani Paradise at Ramanagara in the Bangalore – Mysore Express Highway – a good place for Biryani lovers.
We reached the Mysore area by around 4 pm. To skip the city traffic, we took the ring road that goes around Mysore city and that turned out to be a good decision. We stopped by a coffee shop at the ring road to grab some food before we entered the forest area.
NOTE: Bandipur forest road is closed between 9 pm to 6 am and no vehicles can drive through the forest during this time for the safety of animals as well as travellers.
NIGHT DRIVING THROUGH THE BANDIPUR FOREST
This was the most interesting part of our Bangalore to Wayanad road trip. We reached the Bandipur Forest area by evening. Even though there was a toll booth just before the forest checkpoint, we could not find anyone collecting the toll. I think the toll booth was not operational yet.
We expected some checking and security at the forest checkpoint, but it was just a small station with a single forest officer casually standing in the road and watching the vehicles passing by. We didn’t have to stop the car since he didn’t seem to pay attention.
We entered the forest limits by 5:30 pm. The ambiance completely changed once we entered the silent, calm, and dark forest area. The roads were extremely good, and we tempted to drive too fast but there were animal crossing warning signs everywhere and we too didn’t want an encounter with animals.
We decided to drive slowly looking for animals on both sides of the roads. Kids were very excited when they saw the first flock of deer near the roads. They counted about 50 before we passed the area but there were much more than that.
WHAT WE SAW DURING OUR DRIVE THROUGH BANDIPUR
It was like a zoo where we find a lot of animals trapped in small areas. But nature didn’t disappoint us. We saw a lot of deers, sambar deers, and wild elephants during our 2-hour long drive through the Bandipur forest and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary.
In addition, a lot of monkeys were spotted at various places, especially close to the villages on the Kerala side. If you are a bird watcher, you will see a lot of rare birds but stopping the car in the forest is not allowed;
so, you may miss the photographs. We clicked a lot of photos of the animals from the car though.
FINALLY REACHING WAYANAD
We exited the forest area and entered the Sultan Bathery town by around 7 pm. It took us about 7 hours from Bangalore to reach Wayanad. We spent quite a lot of time searching for pit stops for coffee, snacks, lunch, and just relaxing. If you drive without any major stops, you can cover the Bangalore – Wayanad route in about 5 hours or even less.
BEAUTIFUL WAYANAD
Wayanad is a very green destination and the entire district of Wayanad is very scenic with a lot of trees and hills all over. In fact, even after exiting the reserve forests, we didn’t feel much difference on the Kerala side since the places were very green and lush after the summer rains Kerala received this year.
The most exciting part of our Bangalore to Wayanad road trip was our scenic drive through the Bandipur forests. But once we entered the Wayanad region, almost every place was scenic with lush green forests.
REACHING OUR WAYANAD STAY
We reached Lakkidi by late evening and we were tired even though we all enjoyed the entire drive to its best. It was drizzling when we reached the resort. While we were driving from Bangalore, we received a call from the resort mentioning that some road repair work is going on in the road to the resort.
They suggested we park our car in a safe private property near the highway, and they arranged a jeep for us to travel to the resort from the parking area.
The driver helped us to unload our baggage from the car and moved them all to the jeep. Because of the road work, kids got a free off-road jeep drive!
ABAD BROOKSIDE WAYANAD
When we reached the resort, we got a fantastic treat for the eyes. When the drizzling stopped, the entire area was covered with mist, which suddenly came from nowhere. There wasn’t any sign of mist until a few minutes ago.
We stayed in the reception for some time watching the mist passing through the woods. Lakkidi is one of the most scenic areas in Wayanad which gets covered with magical mists unexpectedly and throughout the season.
In a few minutes, we completed the check-in and moved to our private cottage along the brook (now we know the reason why the property is named ‘Brookside’). Our entire stay in Brookside resort was very relaxing and enjoyable. Kids enjoyed the swimming pool, badminton, table tennis, caroms, and other indoor/outdoor games.
Enjoyed our stay at Abad Brookside at Lakkidi, Wayanad
BANGALORE To WAYANAD ROAD TRIP TIPS
Here are a few important tips to keep in mind when driving from Bangalore on a weekend trip or for holidays:
- Plan your trip so that you will exit the Bandipur forest road before the closing time. You cannot drive through the forests after 9 pm. Once the roads are closed, the gates will be opened only at 6 am.
- If you prefer to go by bus, you can reach Wayanad and rent a self-drive rental car. Self-drive rental cars are becoming popular and there are many options available. Check out this list of rental car agencies in Kerala . Some of them have offices in Wayanad and will deliver the car to you at the bus stop.
- The best time to spot animals is early morning. If you can reach the forest entrance just before 6 am and if you are one of the first few vehicles to enter the forest, you will have much higher chances of spotting animals.
- You won’t find any shops or restaurants in the forest limits. Carry snacks and food especially if you have kids with you.
- Do not exit your vehicle in the forest area. Animals may approach you unexpectedly and avoid taking such risks since help may not reach you immediately in case something goes wrong.
- Follow big trucks if you notice wild elephants close to the road. Even though the elephants found here are not very aggressive, it is always better to be on the safer side.

Travel Tips
a) This is a quintessential driving holiday. The drive from Bangalore to Wayanad Coorg and Ooty takes you through beautiful spots in Western ghats and Nilgiris biosphere. The drive is through the hills and recommended to drive safe.
b) If you are the “Trekker” kind, add another day in Wayanad and Coorg and also in Nilgiris. There are lot of day trekking options.
c) Madikeri, Kalpetta and Ooty gets crowded during holidays. Be prepared for crowds and long queues for boating unless you reach there early.
d) Madikeri is still a small town and has still retained its charm. You can explore it by foot or by bicycle. Ask the place of your stay for it. While in Coorg don’t forget to taste the Kodava cuisine.
e) If you are a golf enthusiast, both Madikeri and Ooty have excellent golf courses. Check it out with your host for details.
f) Coorg and Wayanad will get chilly at night. The temperature in Ooty may touch zero degree. Woolens are a must in Ooty in winters.
g) Whether you are staying in Taj Vivanta, Coorg or not – it is expensive – do drop in for a lunch there. The place is awesome and the views from the reception lobby is just out of the world. Do this before Taj guys stop entry to non residential guests which they are notorious for!!
h) The drive to Wayanad via Iruppu gives you an opportunity to go through some lovely landscape. The temple in Tirunelli is serene and uncrowded.
i) We are strong advocates of getting up in the morning and driving around in the hills when the sun is coming up and there is no traffic. Wayanad is best enjoyed by driving around.
j) Look out for locally made handicrafts – made by tribals – in and around Kalpetta. There is a nice shop near Pookat lake on the highway.
h) You can do boating both in Pookat and Banasura dam. Go there early.
i) The drive to Calicut is nice and views as one drives up and come down to coast is fabulous. The beach in Calicut is beautiful too. Don’t forget to pick up the famous “Calicut halwa” from Ramana Bakery in the town.
j) The route to Ooty from Kalpetta is very picturesque and goes through beautiful tea gardens. On the way you can visit Meenmutty falls and Phantom rock as well.
k) While in Ooty, drive around. That is the mantra. Ooty town like any other hill station in the country is crowded. Once you get out of Ooty, you will see some fabulous vistas. Plan drives in Avalanche area and to Coonoor/Kotagiri. You will love it.
l) Go to Honeymoon boat house – not the main boat house – where the queues are smaller during season.
m) Ooty has some lovely churches built by British. If you have time do visit them.
n) While in Coorg, you can also take out some time to visit Fort, Nalknadu Palace. Coorg is also famous for its festivals and also the Hockey tournament played amongst the families.
n) On the way back from Ooty to Bangalore, you may stop over for a day in Masinagudi and do jungle safari. Our favourite place is the laid-back Jungle Retreat . But there are many options in Masinagudi. Another nice place is Inn the Wild

ROAD TRIP TO WAYANAD: TRAVEL ITINERARY
I travelled: with my family with kids, type of travel: child-friendly, luxury, adventure, for: 3 nights, dates: january 2023, price point: $$, one of the best things about living in bangalore is the possibility of so many road trips to the most amazing places. thanks to the instagram algorithm, we came across the newly opened taj in stunning wayanad. we took advantage of having family in town and pack ed up our trusted innova for a three-day trip to kerala. while we love our lux accommodations, we also love our roadside restaurants and adventures in nature, and this trip was a perfect mix of the three.
GETTING THERE
Even though wayanad is only some 300kms away from bangalore, those 300kms easily turn into eight hours on the road. we decided to drive because we had time and we wanted to have our car once in wayanad to be able to go around easily with a toddler and a car seat. we left bangalore around 7.30 in the morning on friday, timing our trip to make sure we make it to mysore in time for the opening of sapa bakery . since its opening, sapa has been reason enough to make the trek to mysore for its baked goods, sandwiches and the most amazing cakes, and travelling with a 2-year-old meant we had to stop anyhow so why not make the best of it sapa is closed on mondays and opens at noon on other days, so make sure to plan accordingly they have the most beautiful terrace but it gets very full very fast. you have to try their pasta and the best pulled-pork sandwich in india..
After lunch, we continued on our way to Kerala. The road takes you through a tiger reserve and quaint little villages, making for a nice coconut water stop before reaching your final destination.
On our way back, we had lunch at poojari fish land . as the name says, go for anything fish on the menu and you won’t regret it. we had ghee roast everything. they also have high chairs, making it one of the few highway places that are really kid and baby friendly., where to stay , there are a lot of guest houses and boutique hotels in wayanad, but we decided to stay at the newly opened taj wayanad resort and spa . the property is truly stunning- the pics don’t do it justice we booked the premium cottages because it’s always nice to have a little space to hang out after the baby goes to bed and i can safely say this was one of the most comfortable beds i have ever slept in and the shower was an experience in itself if you are traveling with a toddler, bring your own pack n play because the “crib” they had on-site when we went was a moses basket for a new-born so we ended up sleeping with tiny toddler feet stuck in our ribs for three nights. the hotel also doesn’t yet have high chairs, and probably more importantly doesn’t yet have a liquor license so byob., there are three restaurants on the premise, a massive infinity pool overlooking the waterfront and a beautiful yoga pavilion. there is also a standardly great taj spa and a well-equipped gym if that’s your jam. by the pool is a little games room and a kids centre with basic toys and book. my kid was more than happy exploring the waterfront and playing in the pool, so we didn’t really use the kids centre. the property is large and you can get around by using the golf carts..
WHAT TO DO
Our lives still revolve around nap times, so we planned our stay accordingly, with activities in the morning and pool time and chilling in the afternoons., a really nice, kid-friendly trip is to the kallar meenmutti waterfalls . there is ample parking and locals will try and get you to park on their plot so they can sell you chai and local chocolates and pickles. don’t fight it, park and buy because it’s really delicious. after buying a ticket from the forest department, you have a 200-meter walk to the beginning of the waterfalls. once you hit the bottom you have a 30-minute trek across the rocky terrain which you navigate by holding onto a rope. it’s just challenging enough to still be fun and you will be rewarded by some really nice views. you can dip your feet into the waterfall as well. on your way back, make a slight detour and have a banana leaf meal at the 1980s nostalgic restaurant . the food is delicious and the restaurant is really cute and homely. there is no menu, the waiter will tell you what they have available. since you are in kerala, parottas are a must.
Wayanad is home to the 2 nd largest dam in Asia and the largest dam in India, the Banasurasagar Dam. The dam offers boat rides, (a very short) zipline and some great views. It also has some very random offerings like fish pedicures and house of horrors, but all in all it is worth visiting for the vibes and views if for nothing else. Try and go as early as possible as it is a very popular attraction, especially on the weekends.
After the damn, we stopped at the Lunch Box Homely Restaurant , which really is super homely and run by a mother-son duo. I will say this might not be for those whose tummies are not 100% used to India! The food was delicious, spicy, served on a banana leaf and super affordable, and what more can you ask for! We made a pit stop at the Banasura Ayurvedic and Spice Garden , which while being quite a tourist trap was also really interesting to our toddler who got to try all the plants, spices and chocolates. We bought some famous Kerala pepper and cinnamon.
We also wanted to see the famous edakkal caves, but that seemed a bit intense with a toddler, so we left that and some more demanding treks for next time. wherever you decide to stay, local staff will be more than happy to assist you with planning your trip based on your activity levels, good to know, wayanad in january was hot during the day and fresh and foggy in the mornings, so pack accordingly since there is a lot of outdoorsy stuff to do, i packed mostly leggings, sports tops and layers, good walking shoes, and a pair of my trusted birks for around the resort. there are plenty of small shops in wayanad if you run out of baby supplies like wet wipes and diapers., main photo by taj wayanad , all other photos courtesy of the author.

A Road Trip: Bengaluru To Wayanad By Bike
Wayanad, a wonderful district in the north-east of Kerala state, India! It is also known as the Green Paradise in the midst of the Western Ghats. The name ‘Wayanad’ is derived from ‘Vayal Nadu’ which translates to ‘The land of paddy fields’ in English. If you’re planning to visit Wayanad, let me tell you, this hill station is rich in its flora and fauna. It comprises mainly of tea-coffee plantations and it is full of green valleys, dense forests and amazing wildlife.Thinking of the alluring greenery, a road trip to Wayanad, is the best option thus, I opted for a bike ride. I planned this trip with my wife. Also, Wayanad does not have a train station and the nearest station is Kozhikode (Calicut), at a distance of 77 KMS from Wayanad, thus travelling by your own vehicle or hiring a cab is feasible. It is bordered by Karnataka to north and north-east & Bengaluru to Wayanad is approximately 301 KMS.
The Route We Took:
1) Route that we took was from Bangalore- via Mysore – Nanjangudu – Gundlupet – Sulthan Bathery.
2) Once you reach Mysore take Ooty road from Mysore.
3) After 58 KMS on Ooty road from Mysore, you will get a small town called Gudelpet (Gundlupet). You will get a forest/RTO check post in the same place. You have to take right turn towards Calicut NH. You can see the sign board towards Calicut (Kozhikode). Please don’t go straight after the check post from Gudelpet unless you want to reach Ooty. Because that’s the road towards Ooty!
4) After Gundelpet, you have around 57 KMS to Sulthan Bathery. Sulthan Bathery is the first town you get once you reach Wayanad.
5) On the way to Wayanad from Gudelpet, you have to cross through the forest area. Then, you will get Wayanad Wild Life Sanctuary.
Our Journey By Bike:
We left early in the morning at 5 AM. (ADVICE: It is better to leave early in the morning from Bangalore to avoid traffic and reach early during the day time to Wayanad.)According to me, the best route to Wayanad from Bangalore is through Mysore. We covered 310 KMS approximately in 7 hrs with two breaks. We had our breakfast in Mysore around 9 AM at Kamat restaurant, We had Masala Dosa and coffee. Our second stop was at Wayanad forest, we stopped to click a few pictures and relax as the view was breath-taking. We clicked a few pictures and suddenly the Forest officers paid a visit and asked us to leave immediately. They told us stopping vehicles in the forest area was not allowed.(ADVICE: Please never stop in the forest, anywhere throughout the journey.)Our third and last stop was directly in Kalpetta at the homestay. The journey was smooth and the roads were quite good & well maintained.
Best Place To Stay:
Major cities in Wayanad are Kalpetta, Sultan Bathery, Mananthavady, Meenangadi, Pulpally, Panamaram and Muttil, while, Kalpetta, being the Capital of the district. It is a bustling town surrounded by dense coffee & tea plantations and mountains.
I personally prefer homestays whenever I am travelling. There are plenty of options from budget to luxury places. Apart from the administrative capital of the district, Kalpetta is also the centre of tourism activities. We stayed at Green Peace Holiday home in Kalpetta. It was a good and decent place to stay. Our room was spacious and had a beautiful view from the Balcony. However, the food was unavailable but they got it from a nearby restaurant and served us. (Also, Vythri resort and Windflower resort are a good option if you wish for luxury resorts.)
Best Time To Visit:
Most tourists prefer October to May to visit Wayanad to enjoy nature and wildlife at its best. Temperature ranges between 10 - 25 degrees Celsius. June to September are also good months if you love travelling in monsoons.

Things To Carry:
1. Light jackets/sweater depending on the month you are travelling.
2. Raincoats/Umbrellas, if you are travelling during the monsoons. The rains in the hill station can always take you by surprise. It rained for a few minutes, when we visited in the month of November.
3. If possible, carry a binocular – there are many amazing birds that you want to get a closer look at.
4. Camping in Wayanad requires a lot of equipment if you are looking to pitch your tent outside and sleep under the stars.
5. Flashlight and mosquito repellents in case you plan for camping or a trek.
6. Good pair of trekking boots and shoes.
7. Carry extra clothes in case you plan to take a dip in the waterfall pools.

Additional Travel Tips:
1. Be ready to rent cabs if you are not driving your own vehicle. The distance between popular spots are quite far.
2. The Chembra trek starts early in the morning AT 7:00 AM and only 200 people are allowed at a time for the trek. There are jeeps available to take you to the top.
3. For Chembra Trek, take a guide from the Forest Office. The trek is completely across the wilderness.
4. For Banasurasagar Dam, one can either trek up to the top of the dam or hire a jeep/bus. We opted for the bus which charges INR 10 per person. It is easy to trek down.
5. Kuruva Island is one of the very popular places in Wayanad but you need to reserve one whole day as it is far from the city, we skipped it but you can visit if you have time.
6. Start early, wherever you plan to go, as the evening dawns pretty fast in Wayanad.
7. Be careful while driving at the hairpin bends, it can be fatal.
8. Shopping is cheap in Wayanad, and you can keep some budget aside for it!
9. Meet and talk to the locals if you have an interest in history. The stories from the past will be interesting. Also, there are many tribes inhabited in Wayanad.

Wayanad 2 Days Backpacking Trip – Bangalore
- Group Size: 8 - 12
Hello travelers!
Nestled among the mountains of the western ghats, Wayanad is one of the loveliest hill stations of southern India. There are many good things about Wayanad like full of greenery, misty mountains, wildlife sanctuaries, lakes, dams, waterfalls, tea estates, coffee estates, historical caves, panoramic views, and top of it all – pleasant climate most of the year. With its rich flora and fauna, Wayanad is part of the Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve. Wayanad is actually a large district that has varying altitudes between 700 meters and 2100 meters above sea level, which will appear in its climate as you pass by.
Well, if Wayanad is so big, then where all are we heading to? To start with, we will explore Edakkal caves that are home to one of the oldest human settlements with their rock engravings of the pre-historic era as proof. This hike of 45 mins will be a nice warm-up for our trip. A pleasant view from the top of the caves will compensate for any loss of energy.
Places like Karlad lake and Banasura Sagar dam are the tourist attractions we will tick off. Banasura is believed to be the largest earthen dam in the country. It’s always a serene experience spending time in front of such a huge water body, especially waiting for the sunset. The icing on the cake is the view of the huge Banasura hill in the backdrop. For those who are interested, Karlad Lake has a Boating option too.
An offbeat place called 900-Kandi, a pretty little secret of Wayanad which is not usually thronged by trekkers is next in our list. It is a lush green forest accompanied by grand views of rolling hills, making it ideal for trekking. There are some jeeps ferrying people up and down. Close to 900 Kandi is Wayanad’s longest Zipline and Skycycle adventure activities conducted at a private tea estate. Weather permits, travelers can indulge in these adventures.
Overall, Wayanad has many out-of-ordinary places, which we will run-into on this backpacking trip.
It’s time to travel Wayanad. It’s time to savor this wonderful hill station.
Highlights of the trip:
- Soochipara Waterfalls

Day 0 - Onward journey to Wayanad!
- Start from Bangalore, an overnight journey to Wayanad of Kerala.
Day 1 - Edakkal Caves, Banasura Sagar, Karlad Lake, Night stay
- Cross Karnataka-Kerala border and head towards mountains of Wayanad.
- Freshen up and fuel up with authentic Kerala Breakfast.
- Drive to Edakkal Caves base point, climb up, explore stone age carvings and enjoy a nice view from the top.
- Visit very pretty Karlad Lake and spend some quality time.
- Have Lunch at a local restaurant near Karlad. Note that food options are limited at this place.
- Give an evening visit to Banasura Sagar Dam, explore the beautiful setting of Banasura mountain in the middle of Western Ghats
- Reach our homestay located in an amazing hilltop setting by late evening, refresh with Tea.
- Bonfire with music between 8 to 10 PM (weather permits). After this, we have to respect nature in Wayanad and enjoy our social gathering by sharing stories and playing games.
- Hot dinner served in the cold climate.
- Rest for the night in your assigned beds.
Day 2 - Soochipara Waterfalls, 900 Kandi exploration, Longest Zipline(Optional)
- Freshen up, go around the Tea Estate for a nature walk early in the morning and click some pictures.
- Have Breakfast, pack your bags, check out of our homestay.
- Take a journey towards Soochipara waterfalls that has a pool at the base of the falls. We need to walk about a kilometer inside the forest to reach falls. Take a well deserved dip in the falls, if allowed by forest authorities at that time based on the flow of water and climate conditions.
- Note: There is a Forest Department limit of 1200 tourists to visit Soochipara falls per day. Everyone must stand in queue and take tickets. That’s why we are going here first. If the ticket counter closes by the time we reach there, we cannot help it.
- (Optional) Visit Wayanad’s Longest Zipline & Skycycle adventure zone. Interested travelers may indulge in these adventure activities if they are open based on weather conditions.
- Note: There is a limit to number of tickets for Zipline/Skycycle. Usually it’s very crowded over the weekend and we might not get required tickets. We cannot help it as they don’t give preference to anyone.
- Note: On rainy days, the local authorities might stop these adventure activities and we cannot help it again. Because of above 2 reasons, we made this as an optional activity.
- Finish quick Lunch at a local restaurant on the way.
- Head towards 900-Kandi which is in deep forest. Plenty of jeeps ferry tourists up and down over here. This jeep ride is already included in the trip cost. Interested folks may visit the famous (but overrated) Wayanad glass bridge that protrudes into the valley.
- Say Bye to Wayanad, start back towards Bangalore, stop for a Tea/Coffee break, reach home by night (around 10PM to 12AM) based on traffic conditions in Bangalore.
- Note: We may not stop for Dinner as our drops may get delayed post midnight. So it is advised to keep munching snacks.
