Get to know the island
Allow me to introduce you to a novel approach to acquaint oneself with our beloved island. It is a method designed to be accessible to all individuals, without sacrificing the core of the adventure experience and fostering a continual connection with nature.
Where does it come from?
This idea was born out of the desire to allow all members of the public to experience Menorca through cycling; those who seek a unique, relaxed, enriching, and, above all, eco-friendly experience.
Who is it designed for?
It’s designed for the general public. Children, adults, young people… there’s a route for every person or group.
What is it?
As its name suggests, it consists of bike touring routes, but tailored and redesigned for each group. In Menorca, we have many interconnected paths, but they can be difficult to navigate, with many hidden routes that don’t appear on maps and are only used by the locals. That’s why we’ve created itineraries that connect the entirety of Menorca’s interior, allowing you to travel and explore the island from one accommodation to another by bicycle, while avoiding roads as much as possible.
Discover Menorca by cycling for 2 days. Two routes that run through the interior of the eastern area where we find a great variety of accessible paths for all audiences. These routes run through talayotic settlements as well as the option to pedal occasionally in front of the sea. The routes can be adapted to the preferences of each cyclist.

Explore the island in 4 days, the best option if you are thinking of getting to know the island. This option is accessible for the whole family and all ages. You will travel through the interior landscapes of Menorca, getting to know the prehistory of Menorca, which is known as Menorca Talayótica and is a candidate for World Heritage by UNESCO. The archaeological remains of the first communities that lived in Menorca have marked and characterized the island’s heritage and landscape. Additionally, there is the option to take very accessible sections of Cami de Cavalls.
We’ll find you the option that best suits your level, eliminating overly technical sections, taking on lesser-known interior sections that are just as charming if not more so than the coast, or starting and ending at the same point. It’s up to you to decide
Accomodation
We will find the option that best suits you. Do you want to travel from hotel to hotel or do you prefer to discover the island always having a fixed point?
Luggage transfer
We offer you the option to do the route without luggage. We will transport your luggage from hotel to hotel so that you can enjoy the experience with greater freedom.
Logistical and technical support
If you hire our on-route assistance service, we will be there for you at all times. If you have a breakdown, get lost, or feel tired, you just have to call us

Spanish Law requires you to wear a cycling helmet when riding on any roads. Off road the stoney ground hurts a lot - so always wear a helmet despite the heat! ;-)
Many small roads have blind bends and high stone walls so a lead rider wearing some high visibility vest is always sensible. Springtime/ Early Summer is the best time ( mid March to mid May )
The dominant sport is MTB. The main road ME-1 is the backbone road and access point to many idylic country lanes and off road tracks. While there is no cycle way on the ME-1 there is a 1.5m wide safety zone along the entire length that cyclists can use.
Bus and Bikes - Normally not allowed onboard.
Bus Bike Trailer
Save the legs - Island end to end. The L14 non stop express ( 45 min.) offers a ( max. 14 ) Bike Trailer at selected times between Mahon Ciutadella Mon- Fri.

Stops : Mahon Bus station and Ciutadella City outskirts ( Via Perimetral ) or Centre ( Place de la Pau )
Don't expect extensive surfaced cycle lanes at beach resorts. Menorca is adding more cycle routes for the local population however the biggest appeal for cycling fans is the network of tiny tracks, country roads ( Camis ) and the around the island's coastal route ( Cami de Cavalls ) - this requires mountain bikes! Camis can be anything from a tiny narrow unsurfaced stoney tracks connecting villages to a narrow asphfalt road. being Spain road cycling is popular especially the traditional Sunday cycle. The island has rolling hills in the interior rather than steep climbs. If hills are your thing head to Ferreries area and Es Alocs heading north.

The original road system of the island when horses and feet were the transport norm.
The island has an extensive network of the original bridalways/little roads ( " Camis" ) built long before the arrival of the motor car. There have been extensive projects to re-open these and signpost them as part of cycle tracks. Still only suitable for off road machines. Best to just go. The island is so small you'll never get lost! Pack a high visibility vest as the stone walls that line the little lanes can make you hard to see for the occasional car.
Cycle Hire / MTB rentals
As the demand increases so does the number of hire shops. But dont expect to find a hire shop on every corner! ( dated 2019 ) A day's hire will be around 15 Euros, but weekly hire is encouraged with discounts. Often in the beach resort the local watersports activity company will also hire out machines. In beach resorts hire prices tend to be higher.

Cycle Routes
While currently the island lends itself more to mountain biking, but there is an increasing network of modern cycles routes for the less energetic. Particularly in the south east corner of Menorca cycling around the white washed local villages is very pleasant.
Signed Routes
There are six major signposted routes criss crossing areas, using roads, tracks and pathways. Again a free pamphlet is available at various tourist information offices and outlets.

Description
An Easy to Moderate level biking tour with small hills every day. Menorca offers incredible cycling from April to mid June and from September to November. The island has many virgin beaches with turquoise blue water (you have to climb a bit to get out of the beaches). Menorca by bike is very recommendable for those who want a quiet cycling tour, along a natural island to discover and not too much tourism (except in summer).
- The charming towns of Mahó and Ciutadella
- Favaritx Lighthouse and the lunar landscape
- Hidden coves and sandy beaches of crystal clear waters
- Archeological sites like Torre d’en Galmes or Cala Morell
- Astonishing cliffs
Example itinerary:
Arriving to the first hotel where we will hold the orientation session. Your bike will be specially fitted for you and you will be presented with all the documentation and things you will need for your trip. Optional transfer.
Day 2. Maó and the south coast
Distance: 40km
Today we are going to start with a nice ride around Maó to visit its fortress called La Mola and riding along the bay to Maó port, and from there to the city centre. After visiting the city we will leave Maó to go to Cales Coves (a cove with caves dug into the rock), Cala en Porter and its beautiful beach and Torre d’en Galmés, a talaiot period settlement. We will arrive at Alaior, in the middle of the island. Accommodation in a typical Menorquin rural house.
Day 3. Cap de Favàritx & lunar landscape
Distance: 41km
Today’s stage is a circular one, leaving from and arriving at the same accommodation. We will ride the northern side of the island, most of the time along a variety of inland landscapes (pine and holm oak forests, farmland…) and getting to the Cap de Favàritx to enjoy its extraordinary lighthouse nestled in the lunar landscape.
Day 4. The North Coast
Distance: 42 km
The first part of the stage will lead us to the lighthouse of Cap de Cavallería which rises on a spectacular cliff. When walking back from the lighthouse we can go down to the Cavalleria beach. We shouldn’t miss a visit to the Binimel·là beach and its lagoons and dunes. Today’s route will end in Port Fornells.
Day 5. To the South
Distance: 35 km
Leaving from Port Fornells we will head towards Sant Tomás along the old Royal Path (Camí Reial). We will cross the island from North to South, crossing Es Mercadal and es Migjorn Gran. We will arrive at Sant Tomas Beach. Our final stop is Cala Galdana, a large bay with high cliffs dotted with pines and holiday complexes along with magnificent private houses. The beach is sandy with a gentle incline and the waters are crystal-clear.
Day 6. Turquoise beaches & Ciutadella
Distance: 30 km
Today’s stretch first runs along the wonderful southern beaches, riding to Turqueta and Macarella coves. Transfer in the morning, from Cala Galdana to Cala Macarella (45min). These beautiful and remote beaches have high cliffs covered in pine-trees which drop down to the pale white sand and crystal-clear water. The day ends at Ciutadella. Ciutadella is a veritable jewel, built of limestone. It lights up the facades of the stately palaces in creamy golden hues, it paves the narrow streets with their lovely arched porches built in ancient medieval times. The gargoyles on the cathedral were carved from it. Ciutadella’s walls tell a story of feudal lords, medieval traditions and invading Turkish pirates. But the city has moved on within these historic surroundings, and filled the streets and little squares with charming outdoor cafes and designer shops. The sheltered harbour lies under the ramparts and has plenty of delightful restaurants to choose from.
Day 7. The Wildest Coast
Distance: 38km
Today we will go to the wildest coast of Menorca. The coastline here is part of the stunning scenery of la Vall, which includes the hillside called Falconera (the cliff-face is 207 meters high), woods, lowlands, cultivated land, lakes, dune systems, spectacular gorges and unspoiled beaches. We will visit Algaiarens and Cala Morell. Cala Morell is a small natural harbour on the north coast of Ciutadella and the site of a beautiful necropolis. A set of fourteen artificial caves have been excavated in the rocky walls of a small ravine and formed one of the largest and most spectacular prehistoric burial sites on the island. It was used as a cemetery from the Naviforme era (1700 B.C.) up until the 2 nd century A.C. Return to Ciutadella.
Day 8. Departure
Departure day. Transfer to the airport (optional)

What's On In Menorca
Cycling in Menorca
Menorca is an exciting country for a cycling and mountain bike holiday or as an activity whilst visiting the island. Menorca’s landscape offers a wide network of cycling roads through beautiful rolling countryside with very few hills and quiet country lanes that twist and bend through picturesque villages. For those mountain bike riders the spectacular rugged coastline, offers both easy and challenging off-road mountain bike routes. There are cycling routes in Menorca that suite all ages and abilities.
The main road in Menorca passes through the centre of the island and is called the Me-1 and connects the capital Mahon on the east coast to Ciutudella on the west coast. The road is approximately 27 miles (45 km) in length and passes by the towns of Alaior, Ferreries and Mercadel with numerous cycling routes branching off to popular resorts and towns. A new and alternative cycling route is also suitable for road bikes but bypassing the main ME-1 route, an option for those after less traffic and wanting to explore Menorca’s mainland towns and prehistoric settlements. The route includes a stretch along the Cami den Kane or Kane Road, one of the oldest roads on the islands named after Richard Kane the first British governor in 1733.
The Cami de Cavalls is an ancient path around the coast of Menorca and is ideal for mountain biking with routes suitable for all levels of experiencea and ages. The route encircles the island and is used by horse riders, cyclists and walkers and is a total 116 miles long (186 kilometers). The route is well signposted and is split into 20 sections and passes by secluded beaches, stone walled meadows and traditional fishing villages. The easiest sections are those nearby the tourist resorts of Punta Prima, Binibeca and Son Bou.
Menorca’s towns and especially the capital Mahon and Cuitadella also have well maintained and clearly labelled cycling paths, which provides an excellent alternative way to explore these towns.
Tour of the Lighthouses
The tour of the lighthouse event takes place in May and visit’s Menorca’s wonderful lighthouses including: Faro de Cavalleria, Punta Nati (North West), Cap d’Artrutx (South West), Illa de S’Aire (South East), Punta de San Carlos (East) and Faro de Favaritx (North East). The route covers 210km, starting in Mercadal and ending with at the top of Mount Toro. Read More

Menorca is the perfect island for exploring on a bike. Cycling enthusiasts will find a gently rolling landscape with short distances between the main places of interest. Along the coast or deep into woodlands and ravines, there are some spectacular cycling routes where to view wonderful landscapes at your leisure, whilst getting some fantastic exercise and breathing in clean air. Explore amazing remote spots and unspoilt coves where you can go for a dip in the sea.
There are no mountains here, and although some routes go over steep hills and therefore might prove difficult for anyone not in good shape, most of the itineraries are suitable for all levels. You can even cycle to the top of Monte Toro, 358 metres high and the island's highest point. It is a 30-minute ride from Es Mercadal that will reward you with panoramic views over the whole of the island.
The best-known route by far is the Camí de Cavalls, a 185-kilometre trail that goes along the entire coastline of the island and eminently suitable for many outdoor pursuits. It is one of the top mountain bike routes in Menorca, although you do need to be quite fit to cycle along some of the sections, and bear in mind there are no circular routes. There is an excellent network of mountain bike touring routes, all clearly signposted, that take you deep into the Menorcan countryside to discover remote secluded spots and beautiful scenery. There are 21 routes of varying difficulty, but we recommend these 6 main ones, listed from west to east across the island.
Ciutadella-Ferreries : The route is 16.5 kilometres long and takes about two hours. The level is easy, although there are stretches towards the end that are more difficult. Ferreries-Es Mercadal : this route is 15.5 kilometres long, taking about two hours. The level is intermediate. Es Mercadal-Alaior : 7. 7 kilometres. An intermediate route that takes about an hour and a half. Alaior-Mahón : The route is easy, 12 kilometres long, taking about an hour and a quarter. Mahón-Es Castell : 8 kilometres. An easy route taking about 45 minutes. Es Castell-Sant Lluís : a very easy route of 6 kilometres that takes about 30 minutes.
Bear in mind that, while there is little traffic, these routes are not exclusively for cyclists, so you may encounter vehicles and pedestrians. Cyclists are advised to exercise caution on bends of the road and over brows of a hill. Mountain bikes are preferable to enjoy the experience. Always wear a helmet and carry a puncture repair kit. With a little bit of forward planning, unpredictable incidents can be sorted out and the excursion enjoyed.

He was also great on local wildlife and helped us to identify lots of the local birds.

Menorca is a perfect place to enjoy your biking holidays . You can rent a bike for one day or for several . The price of renting a bike varies depending on the number of days you rent it. Obviously, the price of renting a bike in Menorca will also depend on other factors such as:
- The type and model of the bicycle:
- Conventional bicycles
- Mountain bikes
- Electric bikes

In this sense, the cost of transporting bicycles to your place of residence depends on the distance between the company and your place of accommodation.

The map whose link you find below has been prepared by a public island body that aims to promote active tourism in Menorca .

These cycling routes in Menorca offer a wide variety of bicycle circuits that visit different places of interest and special natural beauty on the island.

Camí de Cavalls de Menorca by bike
The Camí de Cavalls is along hiking trail that goes arround the island of Menorca, generally along the coast.
The Camí de Cavalls can be done on a mountain bike with more or less difficulty.
It is important to point out that in the 185 kilometers of the Camí de Cavalls there are sections that cannot be covered even by mountain bike. Other sections, on the other hand, are highway or urban areas.

Go cycling on the roads of Menorca
Menorca is a relatively flat island. The north is slightly mountainous, meaning it has more hills, and the south tends to be fairly flat.
In the south we find the ravines, which represent a sudden descent, but this is not usually an inconvenience.
At the level of cycle tourism, the bike paths in Menorca could be divided into 5 large groups:
- The main road
- The secondary roads
- Rural roads and dirt roads
- Camí de Cavalls
- Towns and cities
Menorca’s main road (Me-1) is a road that crosses the island from East to West and concentrates most of the island’s traffic. It usually has wide shoulders and the maximum speed cannot exceed 90km/h (for cars ;)
Secondary roads are, in my opinion, the most dangerous for cyclists , since in many cases they do not have a hard shoulder or the hard shoulder is very narrow, there are many curves, and because of trees and bushes, there is not good visibility on those curves.
Because these secondary roads are relatively wide, it is common for drivers to get overconfident and drive faster than they should.
Rural roads include old dirt or paved roads. On these roads the number of vehicles is less. The speed of the vehicles is also usually lower, since they are quite narrow and the state of some of the roads does not allow drivers to drive very fast.
This category of rural roads also includes roads not suitable for vehicles . Inland roads that are more paths for hikers than roads.
Lastly, we have the Camí de Cavalls, a trail created by riders from other times, resurrected for hikers but, in general terms, suitable for excursions with mountain bikes .
If you want to rent a mountain bike to go around Menorca by bicycle , we recommend that you inform yourself well about the difficulties of each section.
