Same Frasier. Old city. New apartment.

With the psychiatrist's return to TV — and to Boston — after a few decades away, Kelsey Grammer 's Frasier Crane is setting up house and home closer to his son, Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott), on Paramount+'s new Frasier revival . But it can't be just any ol' home. Frasier — the man and the show — has a very specific style, after all.

"The Seattle apartment was so iconic," production designer Glenda Rovello tells EW, "and the second I got the call for Frasier , that absolutely was in the forefront of my thought process: How do we make a new apartment yet have those standards?"

As it turns out, with lots of designer touches… classy but also comfortable. Frasier's new apartment is a two-story home — formerly two separate units that he renovated into one — which he outfitted himself, complete with a real Steinway piano. "It is always in tune because we never know when Kelsey just wants to sit down a play," Rovello says.

Looking around the good doctor's digs, his financial status is evident: Christian Lacroix pillows on the sofa, Mario Bellini leather chairs at the dining table, Kelly Wearstler fabric covering metal stools. All are designers who "have a lot of gravitas currently," Rovello says, so much so that the writers even mention some in conversation.

The stairway leading to the upstairs bedrooms is adorned with, fittingly, ink-blot wallpaper, each panel of which was hand-painted by the Kansas City company Porter Teleo.

"When Kelsey saw it, he thought they were Christmas trees," Rovello admits of the Rorschach-test print, laughing. "'Why do we have Christmas trees?' I just thought, oh, well, I guess it works. Everyone sees what they want to see in it. I see totems. But he saw Christmas trees."

Wood textures play a large part in the design as well. "I think that goes to the type of person he is," Rovello explains. "He's really emotionally in tune. And so we wanted to show that in terms of the materials — they're real, they're not artificial. There's something tactile and warm about the materials in the apartment."

That includes the herringbone floors and wall treatment to the dining room table, which Rovello and set designer Amy Feldman found among the studio's assets. "It was a mess," Rovello recalls. They refinished the walnut table, which is on an "early-'80s, late-'70s chrome base… It's kind of masculine, and I liked it for him."

Metal and stone pieces — like the welded steel bookcase, end tables, and stools — add more texture and depth. Frasier is also able to showcase his personal collections, be it leather-bound books, oil paintings, and antiques.

"They add such a warmth and a history to a space. Frasier's not brand-new, so I don't think everything in his apartment should be brand-new," Rovello says. "So we see the pre-Columbian [items] that he's always collected. There's some old boxes on top of the console next to the front door — those are antiques. The antique architectural models, the brutalist ceramic pieces. Most of the paintings are old."

Not everything is a relic, though. In fact, Rovello and her team commissioned a ceramic artist to create the two pendant lights that hang near the staircase and feature a personalized touch: "They're a metallic glaze, and they're perforated — one says 'Frasier,' the other one says 'Kelsey,' in Morse code."

The new Frasier debuts Thursday, Oct. 12, on Paramount+, with new episodes dropping weekly.

It’s  Frasier  Week  at IndieWire. Grab some tossed salad and scrambled eggs, settle into your coziest easy chair, and join us. We’re listening.

As part of ongoing Frasier Week festivities, we reached out to several acclaimed production designers to break down the iconic Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) apartment. We asked them what made “ Frasier ” such a great example of sitcom production design, and they dug deep into how the flow, colors, style, and composition all contribute to the comedy and the characters on the show. Great production design often goes unnoticed, especially on shows with a contemporary setting, but sends tons of signals to the viewer about the characters: their taste, their pretensions, their personality.

“Through the right use of lighting (or lack of), the decoration, the age, the cleanliness, a general feeling can be conveyed and then the amount of detail and texture only add to the believability or success of a set,” Shayne Fox, the production designer behind a house with some entirely different vibes on “ What We Do In The Shadows , told IndieWire.

Sara K White, the production designer behind “ Swarm ,” reflected, “I think a lot about how each item would have been brought into the space, working with my set decorator to create intention with every item. Was it found or purchased? Is it a hand-me-down or was it a splurge? A memento from the history of their life? Part of an aspirational future? It’s those considerations that make a space feel authentic, and it’s why [the] ‘Frasier’ design was so effective for me. As stunning as those spaces were, as outside my frame of reference as they could be, they felt like honest representations of the characters.”

And Glenda Rovello, who not only crafted the set for “How I Met Your Father” but also the newest version of “Frasier,” told IndieWire, “For the Frasier Crane character the set should tell us how his tastes have evolved and reflect this moment in his life. He is an educated man who has extensively traveled, very successful — gravitas!”

Here are the characteristics that make Roy Christopher’s “Frasier” apartment as exquisite an example of production design as Frasier Crane’s taste in wine.

A Paragon of Post-Modern Aesthetics

Alec Contestabile, the production designer behind “Physical” and Season 2 of “Hacks,” pointed out that the posh wood paneling and post-modern balance to the room works on the viewer’s brain without us even realizing.

“While the audience’s attention naturally gravitates towards characters, it’s their subconscious perception of the backgrounds that provides us, as designers, with the canvas to paint our narrative. Our job is to design sets that allow the audience to intuitively grasp a character’s identity, their history, and sometimes their future,” Contestabile told IndieWire.

Beyond that, the set was aspirational for viewers, as well. “As a kid in Ohio, I didn’t know production design was a job when I watched ‘Frasier.’ I only knew that I watched every week hoping to see more of the world of the show. The Crane’s living room awed me,” White said. “I was so intrigued by the set’s post-modern design — the arched fireplace wall, the inlaid wood on the doors, the column base interrupted by an open shelving unit — and of course the modern furnishings. Every time Frasier went on an impassioned rant about a Japanese door knocker or boasted about his Wassily chair, I wanted to know more.”

Martin’s Chair Is the Chef’s Kiss

Even though contemporary sets strive not to draw undue attention to themselves, one of the best details about the “Frasier” set is the one that sticks out like a sore thumb. According to Paul Cripps, who knows a thing or two about revealing character emotion through after creating the cheeriest soccer football sets for “Ted Lasso,” the central comedic tension in Frasier is reclining in Martin’s (John Mahoney) chair.

“The chair center stage of the set, along with Eddie the dog, visually tell us that [Frasier] has had to grudgingly accept his father into his new life [but] the acceptance of his father’s things is a token gesture [and] that presence will be a constant reminder of his past to prick his bubble of pretension. This is the heart of the comedy of ‘Frasier’ that, like Basil [John Cleese] in ‘Fawlty Towers,’ Frasier and Niles’ attempts to be the height of sophistication are balanced by the fact that if they were just less pretentious, they would be much more likable and get themselves into less trouble. This whole idea is summed up beautifully in this set in a very simple visual motif,” Cripps told IndieWire.

A Contrast With Niles

FRASIER, from top, down: David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, 1993-2004. ph: Jaydee / ©NBC / courtesy Everett Collection

Both White and “Wednesday” production designer Mark Scruton called out a wonderful point of comparison to the main spaces on “Frasier.” The show doesn’t visit Niles’ (David Hyde Pierce) apartment as often, but according to White, “The dark paneled walls and moody lighting, the curvaceous furniture and side rooms layered vertically like a cake, I suddenly understood Niles’ life and passions so much more clearly. Both sets were equally telling, but the stories they told were so different.”

Scruton praised Niles’ (and, technically, Maris’s) manse as an example of “Frasier” yes and-ing itself to create the ultimate extension of the show’s production design.

“It’s even more pompous and pretentious than Frasier’s apartment, with stone walls and chandeliers and a faux sense of history. It feels more like a stage set for a Noel Coward comedy or a 1920s murder mystery. There’s multiple entrances and exits and levels, and the writers always used this to great effect, making everything feel very theatrical,” Scruton said.

Production designer Amy Williams, who well knows how to color character with their own taste choices from her work on “WeCrashed,” agreed that the contrast between Frasier and Niles tells us more about the brothers’ relationship than either set would on its own. “Both brothers homes accomplish so much storytelling with so few elements, a testament to the set decorator and designer’s understanding of the characters. You know exactly who these two characters are just by looking at the design, decor, and contents of their respective abodes,” Williams told IndieWire.

It’s All In the Details

FRASIER, from left: Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde Pierce, Eddie the Dog, 1993-2004. ph: Gale M. Adler / ©NBC / courtesy Everett Collection

Even working with a level of theatricality, every detail builds a realistic picture of Frasier Crane. “The dressing is vital, especially the smaller props. You have one canvas to give your characters history, so everything has to be considered and, in its way, tell the story of the residents, so the viewers understand more about who they are and where they’ve come from,” Scruton said.

Contestabile agreed that “a well-designed TV set not only offers insights into a character’s persona but also serves as a versatile space that will last multiple seasons, providing directors and cinematographers with opportunities to discover new angles for multiple seasons. Every detail, from the color and texture of the walls to the flooring and even the door hinges, is considered. The real magic and fun lies in our ability to convey a wealth of information from the most mundane details and decorations of a set.”

A Place for Everything

FRASIER, from left: Eddie the Dog, Kelsey Grammer, 1993-2004. ph: Jaydee / ©NBC / courtesy Everett Collection

Susie Mancini, production designer on “Wilderness,” praised the clarity of the set’s design both for viewers and for the more technical demands of shooting. “In a single frame, you know exactly where you are, or even better, which show you are watching,” Mancini told IndieWire. “For me, a perfect set (if you are not working on a sci-fi or fantasy show) is the set that you don’t see. That just belongs to the story, and the audience is not distracted by it. At the same time, it is unforgettable. It might be just a detail, but it makes the place resonate with the actor and their actions. In all of this wonderful and groovy creative flow, we have to remember that these sets are not for our personal enjoyment but for a movie or show to be shot in, so there are many, sometimes an infinite amount of, details and rules to keep in mind at all times. [We first need to] create something that would make sense in camera and somewhere a crew of 100 people can work with a flow.”

“Sitcom design is often a poor relation of other styles of production design, but it is a specific and difficult art to master and definitely often under-appreciated,” Cripps said. “I would say it’s more akin to stage design, as whilst designing a set to reflect the characters, one must also allow for the myriad blocking and camera movement, sightlines for a studio audience and different story scenarios throughout a potentially long-running show.”

What Great Sitcom Sets Do

FRASIER, from left: Jane Leeves, Kelsey Grammer, 'Give Him the Chair', (Season 1, episode 119, aired March 17, 1994), 1993-2004. ph: ©NBC /courtesy Everett Collection

“For enduring shows like this one, the set ends up becoming another character, really. Every week the cast can be found living life (the mundane and the exciting andeverything in between) within the confines of the stage created by the show, and essentially, we come to love their space as much as the characters,” Fox said.

Dexter prequel series reveals first look at patrick dempsey & sarah michelle gellar's roles, westworld deemed "realistic" as expert reveals what's already outdated about hbo show.

  • Frasier Crane's iconic Seattle apartment will be replaced with a more closed-off, classic Boston flat in the show's reboot.
  • The new apartment lacks the original's breathtaking views and spaciousness, reflecting a shift in aesthetic and setting.
  • While viewers will miss the beloved Seattle apartment, the hope is that Frasier's Boston flat becomes just as iconic in the reboot.

Ahead of the Frasier reboot, a rare behind-the-scenes video takes on a tour of Frasier Crane's iconic Seattle apartment. In a month, Kelsey Grammer is set to reprise his role as the snobbish therapist Frasier Crane in the Paramount+ revival of his '90s sitcom. Paramount+'s Frasier reboot will be set in Boston, which means that he will relocate to a new flat in New England. Before that, however, a new video goes down memory lane to revisit Frasier's swanky condo in the Pacific Northwest.

Shared by Entertainment Tonight is a Frasier set video from 1993 that features Grammer taking viewers on a tour of his new digs. Watch it below:

Aside from Frasier's apartment, the video also shows other memorable locations from the '90s cortically sitcom. That includes Frasier's booth at KACL and Cafe Nervosa.

How Frasier’s Reboot Apartment Is Different From His Seattle Flat

The original Frasier picked up from the events of Cheers , with the two shows only having a six-month gap in between. In the reboot, however, two decades have passed, which means that the show has to catch up with viewers on what Frasier has been up to during those times. That likely includes Niles and Frasier losing Martin, which reflects John Mahoney's death in 2018. Because none of the original Seattle-based characters will be series regulars, Grammer and his team opted to move Frasier back to Boston , where he will have a new flat, as revealed in the show's teaser.

Related: The Frasier Reboot Cast Guide: Every New & Returning Character Joining Frasier In Boston

From the get-go, there are a lot of differences between Frasier's Seattle and Boston's apartments. While he lived in a high-rise condo, with unparalleled views of the Space Needle and floor-to-ceiling windows, his New England flat appears more closed-off. Aesthetically, it's surprisingly more classic, perhaps to fit with the city's old-world charm. Windows are rather small, and unlike in Seattle, there's really no view that will remind audiences of where the show is set. However, Frasier's apartment in Boston is chosen because of its proximity to Freddy's.

There is no doubt that Frasier's Seattle apartment will be missed in the new show. It was the backdrop of many of the show's best moments, and it was witness to how Frasier and Martin's relationship evolved over the years. As he moves forward with his life in the Frasier reboot, however, hopefully, his Boston flat also becomes as iconic as its predecessor.

The filming locations of Frasier’s one truly Seattle episode

The long-running series made only one visit to the Emerald City

Frasier , as locals know, was never filmed in Seattle. Well, almost never: There’s one notable exception.

The show’s 100th episode features Niles and Frasier Crane frantically scrambling through downtown Seattle—the actual downtown Seattle—struggling to get to a celebration of Frasier’s 1,000th episode of his radio show-within-a-show. (We see what you did there, Frasier .)

While the series is pretty notable for getting a lot of things wrong about Seattle —to be fair, it was largely written and filmed in Los Angeles—the episode, “the 1000th Show,” at least doesn’t make any of the major geographical mistakes other Seattle-set media is notorious for. Location scouts were smart and kept things relatively linear within two miles south of the celebration at the Space Needle , so nobody’s taking a right turn out of Queen Anne into West Seattle, and nothing’s off by more than a couple of blocks.

Instead, we just get to watch the brothers Crane bumble around Pioneer Square, downtown, and Belltown in a mostly direct line, except for that time they take a wrong turn. Oh, Dr. Crane, how do you not know your way around downtown Seattle after ostensibly more than four years living and working in the area?

We’ve mapped out nine locations that the crew just couldn’t replicate at Paramount Studios.

Space Needle

The first Seattle on-location shot we see is at the Space Needle, as Roz frantically prepares a 1,000th-episode celebration where the mayor—played by then-actual-Seattle mayor Norm Rice—is set to declare “Frasier Crane Day.”

Pioneer Square by the old trolley stop

Rumor has it that Cafe Nervosa was inspired by the cafe in Elliott Bay Books when it was located in Pioneer Square, so it tracks, kind of, that Frasier and Niles start their journey in Pioneer Square just southwest of Occidental Square—there are also a few references to a square outside the cafe, although Elliott Bay didn’t border Occidental. Viewers can see the old Waterfront Trolley making its way from the Pioneer Square stop; that line ceased operations in 2005 , but the station is still there, although out of use (the First Hill Streetcar stops a block south at a more modern station).

Pike Place Fish Market

Niles and Frasier have an apparently uneventful journey until they reach the obligatory Pike Place Market scene. While passing the famous Pike Place Fish Market—the one where the fishmongers throw fish to each other—Niles gets hit by passing seafood and spills his half-caf cappuccino with a dash of cinnamon (this is a big deal) on Frasier’s suede shoes. This, of course, will not do, so they set out to buy new shoes.

First and Pine

Also a filming location during Sleepless in Seattle ’ s trip to Pike Place Market, Niles and Frasier exit the market via Pine Street—an ideal shot, since it gets both a hill and the “public market” sign on film.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Paul (@martinimonkey) on Sep 19, 2018 at 1:34am PDT

Second Avenue between Battery and Wall

Frasier, of course, absolutely must stop and buy new shoes—how can he greet his fans with a coffee stain on his footwear? He and Niles stop at a shoe store in Belltown, with a sign for real former coffeehouse La Pesce Cafe visible in the background. Now, Hawaiian-Japanese restaurant Karaage Setsuna is located there.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tomoyuki Umeda (@akaguma4) on Aug 16, 2017 at 8:40pm PDT

Regrade Park

Soon after leaving the shoe store, Frasier and Niles try to cut through an alley (to avoid fans) and get mugged. The episode cuts straight from the shoe store to an alley by Regrade Park—so only a few blocks off.

Regrade Park is now known primarily as Belltown’s dog park, but back in 1997, it was almost unrecognizable as the same park, with a grassy area and children’s play equipment. At the time, the park was known as a hotbed of drug use. It was converted to a dog park in 2004 on a trial basis, which clearly became a permanent program.

The Doctors Crane approach a pay phone next to a park, but don’t have change, so they attempt to steal a quarter out of a blind musician’s saxophone case. Actual local Girl Scouts played the kids that chased them away toward First Avenue.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tuna,Sandwich And Lucy (@therealtunasandwich) on Apr 1, 2015 at 5:07pm PDT

Westlake Center

Somehow, after being chased west by the mob of Girl Scouts, Frasier and Niles find themselves southeast of their previous location—and comment that the Space Needle is even further away. This is true: They’re at the northeast corner of Westlake Center by the office tower entrance, a truly embarrassing navigational gaffe for someone who ostensibly has lived here for a while.

You can see a Washington Mutual branch behind them; while the bank would eventually be absorbed by Chase (and there’s not a branch there anymore), the building still reads “Washington Mutual Savings Bank” today.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by dave nguyen (@davenguyen206) on Mar 23, 2012 at 2:19pm PDT

The Monorail

Niles realizes that while he and Frasier are farther away from the Space Needle, they are right next to a transportation option that goes to the Needle: the Monorail. They board at Westlake (without paying fare!), only to have the train come to a halt right above the Frasier Crane rally due to an electrical problem. The train heads back to Westlake.

Ralph’s Grocery

Points to Frasier for plugging actual Seattle locations into the green screen on the way to the Space Needle while Dr. Crane is en route in a cab. Before he ultimately gets dropped off next to the Frasier Crane Day rally, the cab passes Ralph’s Grocery (not to be confused with California grocery chain Ralph’s), instantly recognizable because of its produce-and-cheese-filled neon awning. It was open 31 years before its closure in 2015; now, it’s a CVS.

Inside Frasier Crane's Plush Seattle Digs

Say what you will of his many faults, but Frasier Crane , from Frasier,  knew just what he was doing when he bought a place in Seattle's Elliott Bay Towers. The luxurious three-bedroom, two-bath spread with killer views of the Space Needle is without question one of the finest fictional bachelor pads ever conjured up.

Even though it hasn't changed in over 20 years, it's as fetching as ever. Where better to spend your Tuesday?

The wide open common living and dining area very much suits the space, soaking the sophisticated decor with refreshing sunlight. Let's be real though, Seattle doesn't get that much sun.

The view is just as stunning at night, even in a torrential downpour.

From the balcony there's an unobstructed view of the Space Needle, Kerry Park, and a wide swath of the metropolitan area. Not too shabby.

(Editor's Note: there is no actual building in Seattle that has the view from Frasier's residence. The backdrop is most likely from a photo that was taken from a cliff ledge in Kerry Park. Sorry.)

Considering its location, there's no way Frasier didn't drop a mint on this place. In fact, a listing for a comparably sized spread in 2014 is on the market for nearly $3,000,000 . Psychiatry: it's a lucrative biz!

The kitchen may seem small, but it's really quite well laid out to prepare whatever fancy munchies and wine you're in the mood for.

There is no such thing as a bad bedroom, since each one gets its own sick view. Eddie knows what's up.

There is such thing as a better bathroom , though. The palatial master bath, which comes complete with sauna and a whirlpool, can take off the stress of a rough day right quick.

Again, Eddie just gets it.

Where is Frasier’s apartment?

frasier set tour

An official “Frasier” revival has been ordered by Paramount Plus, with Kelsey Grammar set to return in the title role. After nine years in Boston during most of the run of Cheers, the character of Dr. Frasier Crane moved to Seattle for 11 seasons, airing from 1993 to 2004. “Frasier” is one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, winning 37 Emmy Awards over 264 episodes.

The main set was Frasier’s apartment, designed to be “ultra-modern” in an “eclectic style,” as Frasier described it in the first episode. Part of the fictional “Elliott Bay Towers,” it’s roughly 2,000 square feet.

It was filled with high-end furniture, such as a replica of Coco Chanel’s sofa, an Eames chair, a lamp by Corbu, a kitchen with an open archway and a piano near a terrace on the rear upper level.

Marty’s chair had to be handmade. The prop department took a regular easy chair and reupholstered it with tacky fabric.

The terrace had one of the most iconic views in all of television, looking out to the Space Needle with the city skyline behind it.

Looking at the size of the Space Needle relative to Frasier’s apartment, it is guessed he was roughly 700 to 1150 feet from the Space Needle, which would put it in the Seattle Center, somewhere between the Seattle Repertory Theater and the International Fountain; but his apartment number (1901) would suggest he’s on the 19th floor.

According to bonus features in the Season 1 DVD set, the backdrop photo was taken from a cliff, presumed to be near Kerry Park.

Frasier’s apartment was also used in the short-lived reboot of “The Odd Couple,” starring Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon.

In 2018, the online interior design company “Modsy,” took a look back and re-imagined the apartment.

Iconic TV Sets: Some of Us Regard ‘Frasier’ Apartment as the Show’s Real Star

Share News:

This is an ongoing series .

What is your dream living room set on TV? As classic shows live on through retro channels and streaming services we’re seeing the sets that made us feel at home while watching our favorite shows. We’re taking a deep dive into what made these sets so special.

Frasier (1993-2004)

Quick show of hands: Did the décor of Dr. Frasier Crane’s apartment influence anyone else? It was hard not to be fixated by its ambiance . The place had clean lines, a minimalist feel, the soothing beige tones of the 1990s. His valued pieces included a Le Corbusier lamp, a Chihuly vase, an antique telescope, and assorted African artifacts. In 2018, Curbed determined the approximately 2,000-square-foot apartment ran about $3 million. How could Frasier afford such a place ?

Through 246 episodes, the layout of Frasier’s apartment was imprinted in our minds. The show’s premise was the adventures of a snooty radio psychiatrist and his equally snooty brother coping with their down-to-earth father, Martin, and live-in physical therapist, Daphne. But for many of us, we tuned into to take in the apartment. Online fans continue to celebrate the apartment with their idea of his floorplan or create Zoom backgrounds.

The front room was spacious and held Frasier’s brand of eclectic furniture, including his Eames and Wassily chairs, which made his father’s worn-out plaid recliner stand out even more.

The balcony revealed a to-die-for view of the Seattle skyline. Frasier’s bedroom was immaculate and his bathroom, with black porcelain, would put Buc-ee’s to shame.

Frasier’s apartment at 1901 Elliott Bay Towers must have been on the corner of the building. According to one fan’s vision, the layout was V-shaped with the living room at the bottom of the V. Take the hallway on the left side of the V and you’d wind yourself into Frasier’s master bedroom, which led to his large bathroom. Martin’s bedroom was also in the wing. The right side of the wing was smaller. It starts with a step-up parlor showcasing a grand piano and wet bar. Further back is a small hallway before you get to Daphne’s living space. Heading back into the front room, the kitchen is to the right.

More sets are in the Frasier -verse. The KACL radio studio where Frasier does his show opens lots of episodes. In second place is probably Café Nervosa, where Frasier and his gang commiserated. Perhaps as impressive as Frasier’s apartment was Niles’ apartment at the Montana , which is even more pretentious than Frasier’s.

As for fun facts, Frasier’s apartment was housed on the same sound stages of Cheers, which spawned Frasier’s show. It also was used as the apartment in the TV adaptation of The Odd Couple starring Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon. We’re also keeping an eye on a Frasier reboot , which is in development at Paramount+. You can learn so much more at the Frasier Wiki fandom site .

If we crave more, the Internet is full of Frasier floorplans (people sell prints of them), Lego sets, miniature replicas, and much more . We’re not the only ones who think Frasier’s apartment rules.

Will the Frasier Reboot Feature the Iconic Cheers Bar?

The series just hit Paramount+ this week!

After a 20-year hiatus following 11 seasons, Frasier is back. While the original series was set in Seattle, the reboot brings the character of Dr. Frasier Crane back to Boston. Kelsey Grammer returns to play the iconic role. As you indulge in the fresh 10-episode installment—with the first two episodes now on Paramount+ and the rest dropping weekly on Thursdays—we’ve laid out all of the answers to your burning setting and filming locations questions.

Where Is the Frasier Reboot Set?

As a refresher, the original series was a spinoff of Cheers . Set in Boston, Cheers first introduced the character of Frasier in 1984 during the third season of the series. Frasier then moved to Seattle in the spinoff. Before this move, his wife left him. At the time, he responded by threatening to jump off of a ledge if she didn’t take him back. He was talked down, and their reconciliation was short-lived. In the Frasier pilot, he addressed the move : “Six months ago, I was living in Boston. My wife had left me, which was very painful. Then she came back to me, which was excruciating…. On top of that, my practice had grown stagnant, and my social life consisted of hanging around a bar night after night. You see, I was clinging to a life that wasn’t working.”

So he moved back to his hometown of Seattle. In the finale of the original series, Frasier made the decision to fly to Chicago to chase a love interest instead of going to San Francisco where he got a TV job. Now, he’s back in Boston to reconnect with his estranged son, Freddy, forge new relationships, and fulfill an old dream or two.

Where Was the Frasier Reboot Filmed?

The Frasier reboot was filmed in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. All but one episode of the original series was also filmed in Los Angeles.

Will the Cheers Bar Be in the Show?

cheers

So far, it seems like it won't be. The series introduced a new bar called Mahoney's. While there with an old friend and new colleague, Frasier references spending a lot of time "at a certain bar," but doesn't mention Cheers . It's unclear whether or not the bar is still open in the Fraiser universe. In interviews , Grammer hasn't confirmed or denied that the bar will appear in the series. Only time will tell!

You love filming locations. So do we. Let’s obsess over them together .

Kelsey Grammer got emotional when 'Frasier' returned to Seattle for Season 2 episode

Portrait of Bryan Alexander

"Frasier" is heading back to Seattle in Season 2.

Kelsey Grammer's Boston-based Dr. Frasier Crane will return to his ta lk show radio roots at KACL in Seattle for an episode in the new season, which returns Sept. 19 with a two-episode Paramount+ premiere.

The Seattle homecoming − the setting for the original "Frasier" that ran for 11 seasons on NBC until 2004 − required an entirely new set to be built for the KACL radio studio. Crane frequently opened the original "Frasier" episodes in the host's chair of his radio call-in show.

"At first I was like, this is just a set, nothing was really happening to me," Grammer tells USA TODAY of filming the homecoming. "But that was before I sat down in that chair."

At that point, Grammer stopped talking, explaining that he is "an emotional guy" prone to sudden bursts of sentimentality.

"Frasier" returns: How Kelsey Grammer's reboot honors original with new cast and bar

Which original 'Frasier' stars will return for the Seattle episode?

The return to Seattle revolves around Crane's former radio show producer Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin), who will be a recurring guest star on Season 2 of "Frasier."

The Seattle episode will include original "Frasier" luminaries such as Dan Butler as Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe, host of the "Gonzo Sports Show," and Edward Hibbert as Gil Chesterton, host of the "Restaurant Beat" show. Harriet Sansom Harris, who starred as Frasier's devilish agent, Bebe Glazer, will also return for the episode.

The revamped "Frasier" will primarily be back in Boston in Season 2, where "Cheers" alum Crane has set up a new life as a Harvard professor and drinking with his university friends Alan (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Olivia (Toks Olagundoye) at a new bar Mahoney's.

Which 'Cheers' stars will appear on 'Frasier' Season 2?

Grammer says he hopes to have his former "Cheers" co-star Ted Danson, who played bar owner Sam Malone, and Shelley Long, who played Crane's love interest Diane Chambers, appear on the new "Frasier."

"I have always nursed a longing for doing a show with Shelley Long to have closure with Diane in some strange way," Grammer told a panel of the Television Critics Association on Wednesday. "I'd love to see that happen. There's a world of this character's past that needs to be put to rest."

But Grammer said that Crane would never travel across town to go back to Cheers, saying that his former bar is essentially "closed" in the eyes of "Cheers" creator James Burrows.

"There's a sense of respect that we owe him and the idea ("Frasier") exists in another world," says Grammer. "It's gone, the bar is gone."

Burrows, who directed the first two episodes of the new "Frasier," will also return to direct two more episodes on Season 2.

The original "Frasier" still holds the record for most Emmy wins for a comedy series, with 37 wins and 107 nominations. On Wednesday, the new "Frasier" and Grammer missed out on major nominations ahead of the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards. The multi-camera show was nominated for three Emmys: outstanding production design, outstanding cinematography and outstanding picture editing.

Ryan seacrest & vanna white give 'wheel of fortune' set tour, reveal secrets.

KABC logo

LOS ANGELES -- A new era of "Wheel of Fortune" begins Monday, Sept. 9 with new host Ryan Seacrest joining Vanna White on the popular TV game show.

Before the new season premiere, On The Red Carpet's George Pennacchio visited Ryan and Vanna on the "Wheel of Fortune" set and George asked Ryan what it felt like the first time he walked onto the famous stage.

"My jaw drops," Seacrest said. "You're in awe. You've seen it on TV. It's just like anything else. When you see it on TV and you see it in person, it's just a different perspective. The set is huge. The wheel is heavy. The clicks are consistent. It's like rubber bands that make the sound. I didn't know that."

Ryan may have a lot to learn, but thankfully, Vanna White, a longtime veteran of the show is there to help and she's impressed by what she's seen from Ryan so far.

"I'm amazed. I am just amazed because it's a lot harder than it looks," she said. "But he makes it look so easy, so he's doing a great job."

During George's set tour, he learned secrets about the letter board, the wheel itself and more!

Also Vanna revealed which question audience members ask her the most.

See all of that and more in the full episode, "On The Red Carpet Celebrates Wheel of Fortune" in the video above.

And don't miss Ryan's first spin as the new host of "Wheel" beginning Monday, Sept. 9. Check your local listings.

Usher 2024 ESSENCE (1024x437)

Usher’s Recent ‘Past Present Future Tour’ Stop Featured A Full-On NSFW Strip Club Segment For All To Enjoy

Flisadam Pointer

Due to doctor ordered delays , Usher’s Past Present Future Tour didn’t start off on the right foot. However, the “ Luckiest Man ” singer has surely made up for hiccup.

Yesterday (September 6), during Usher’s first night in Brooklyn he brought a little piece of his seemingly second favorite hometown staple with him — strip clubs. While at the Barclays Center, Usher transferred the stage into his own mobile exotic peep show. Although this isn’t new by any means for Usher, just see his Las Vegas residency show, but this time he was along in his tantalizing quest.

Three leading ladies in their own right, Taraji P. Henson, Victoria Monét, and Yung Miami joined Usher for the sensual showcase. As the performer showed off her gymnast moves each lady threw money to show their mesmerized support (viewable here ).

At one point, Victoria Monét even ever so slightly participated before allowing to professional to put it down (or up rather). Usher has a lot of tricks in his books but none quite like his featured supporting act.

Prior to the rated R demonstration, Usher took a moment to acknowledge his “ SOS (Sex On Sight) ” collaborator, Victoria’s breakout year. “We love you baby girl,” he said before paying her hit song “ On My Mama ” over the venue’s speakers (viewable here )

Usher’s Past Present Future Tour won’t officially wrap in the US until mid-November, so there’s no telling what else he has planned.

Blending a vast spectrum of sonic influences, writing music is a means of catharsis for Set It Off. And their most recent singles prove that the genre-bending band is here to stay. From the unapologetically theatrical “Evil People” to the nu-metal charged “Punching Bag,” their latest catalog additions are nothing short of vibrant. Independence has reinvigorated Cody Carson (singer/lyricist), Zach DeWall (guitarist), and Maxx Danziger (drummer) to create a world that’s entirely new yet reminiscent of the sparks they felt during the release cycle of their debut record, Cinematics (2012). Emphasizing breaking the dopamine loop and finding true fulfillment means making music and visuals from the heart. And over a decade later, the trio’s sincerity continues to resonate with fans.
