Top 5 airlines flying to Australia

A 16 hour flight from Singapore to Los Angeles had only 2 meals. It would be great to have 3 meals.

Once again the meal served was delicious - we got chicken rice

The experience was poor in comparison to the flight to Manado from Singapore via Scoot. Gate against could only check in stroller to Singapore (by clearing immigration) or to Brisbane. Who is able to carry their baby for 7 hour transit without having to enter Singapore?

Good airlines, travelled 🧳 n Singapore multiple times and experience is consistent

The flight was very late, sitting on the plane for over an hour and missed our connecting flight from Singapore to LA. As senior citizens, we were rerouted to Copenhagen and then to LA. They should not do this to senior citizens. They should have given us a hotel voucher for a night, then catch a flight to LA the next day. Singapore Airlines should grant us some kind of credit for the next trip, if they want us to fly with them. I doubt if we will ever hear from them.

They bumped us up. They overbooked the flight and we hurried to the next flight. We are a family of 5 with 13, 10 , and 6 year olds kids. Everybody was running to the next flight. We never been exhausted in our flights hust like we have experienced this week. Mismanagement in scoot and kayak.

I was traveling with my 3 minor children, one leg I was seated two aisles behind them. On the longest leg I would have preferred sitting across the aisle from them, not behind. My youngest is 4yos. I understand airplane seating configurations are not the airlines problem but seating the one adult with a reservation apart from the minors was very difficult.

Awesome! Was impressed with the hospitality and the thoughtful services. The cabin attendants were superb.

Crews are not allowed to perform any service whenever the captain deems there’s a chance of turbulence. Even if it is perfectly smooth air.

If I made the connection in Singapore I was stuck there for 24 hours you owe me 355.00 for accommodations

The crew was very helpful to my family, especially when my daughter became sick during the flight. Will fly with them again.

Too many passengers are bringing on too many large items as part of carry on baggage where it should be checked in. This is not the fault of Qantas but the stupid mindset passengers have now about trying to bring anything and everything on as carry on luggage where it should be checked in.

Better than expected, normally I don't use this airline because they are too expensive for me, but if you can afford it, good on you, you won't regret it. Regards.

The flight was delayed over 2 hours. We had to wait on the plane and the air conditioning was turned off. The food was average and the cutlery was wooden!

Perfect. The flight was on time and the crew were very friendly and helpful.

Plane a little late departing, but not an issue. The pilots humour when he said “I will try to make up some time…. I know a few short cuts to Adelaide” made the passengers chuckle. This is what makes Qantas “Australian”.

I have never had a problem with flying Qantas, so this flight was the same as any other.

After British Airways cancelled my London to Sydney and Virgin Australia refused to refund, there was no ways I would try Virgin Australia again, so it was Qantas - what a good flight experience. So much easier to get off an international flight and get a local flight without having to add extra amounts for baggage

The plane was delayed about 3 hours so anything else is immaterial

It was so hot on the plane mixed with being quite turbulent and a rough landing. We all felt very nauseous for hours afterwards. Crew were lovely though.

Did not take as cancelled 3 time so took another airline

It was a 2-hour flight so they didn't have much time for serving food. There was some turbulence so they could not serve hot coffee or tea for the safety reason. Good service, good tasting food, nice plane, a little bit of delay.

The IFE is quite unconvenient if using our own device. Not all passenger brought their own earphone/headphone.

Ok, but legspace on MH0127 from Kul to Per was too small. It was not possible to tilt my seat which I don't understand because the seat in front of my could do it. So I didn't rest on the flight. Also, the crew was probably understaffed because it took very long time to take trash after the meal. Everything very different from the flight with Malaysian Airlines from London to KL.

Service / food has to be much better. Staff were not very attentive to requests. Requested for a second serve of coke and got a weird look back from the host! Was also told they don’t have extra water bottles when I requested for one before sleep! Dinner time food was very minimum and average.

An overnight Doha to KL. Great sleep, good service and tasty food in business class

chaos boarding. Crew in business class seemed short staffed and lacking in attention to details initially, but did improve during flight.

The cabin was quite noisy as there were lots of children travelling for the school holidays. Found the selection of movies limited.

Delayed, not enough information. Had to ask for refreshments, crew could have been more proactive

The best so far coz this time it was all male steward on the economy cluster. They were polite, efficient & genuinely courteous. They do not judge you when you ask for more food & peanuts.

체크인을 담당하는 승무원이 아주, 몹시 불친절하고 전문성이 현저하게 떨어졌습니다. The flight attendant in charge of the check-in was very, very unfriendly and markedly less professional.

VietJet was 2 hours late, but Kayak is not able to track my travel correct.

Flights on time is good. Crew should take care of passengers more.

Not punctual in departure and seats are very tight and narrow. Crew should handle noisy families during flight.

Seats too small and tight. Flight attendants don't know how to deal with family with noisy kids on board.

Paid for seats near the window but given seats right at the back, near the toilets. This location was so noisy with the blasts from the aircraft engines blowing beside. Not a nice one 😞.

Flight was delayed 2 hours, which seems regular with this airline. Aircrew were avarage, friendly but robotic. At check in I asked for a spare seat. Got some stupid response about loading capacity (it was 85% full!) Then passengers behind jumped up and moved to vacant exit rows, they obviously didn't pay for. Waited over 20+ minutes to disembark, with ground staff trying to squash all passengers onto 1 bus. Causing even more delays. Unsafe and stupid! But this is a problem at Saigon airport. Overall a very average experience!

In experience we didn't even get water unless it was paid for. Even Bamboo Airlines provided free water. The flight was cold with no blanket being provided. The flight attendants were not responsive in keeping the passengers under control. I complained about fellow passengers playing loud music several times before one of the flight attendants to action. I will not recommend flying with Vietjet unless things improve.

I have few bad reviews about VietJet, but my experience was really good and it worth every penny..

Not even free water. NO legroom. Narrow seats. Not enough room to even hold a book at reading distance in front of you.

Entertainment screens were either broken nor did not work. Also seat back did not work. Definitely not comfortable journey

Non reclining seats on a 14 hour flight. Crew skipped drinks for my row at least twice.

Everything was bad and entertainment did not work and no landing cards and overall done with Air India

Too bad. Got too much trouble with security screening at New Delhi

only 3 meals in a 17 hr long flight. first meal after take off then nothing for 8hrs for people boarding at 2pm at orgin. you expect people to go without any food for 8 waking hours? there should have been 4 meals during a 17hr long flight. food quantity was also less. when asked for food the flight attended said they are about to begin food service then didnt do it for 2hours after saying that. terrible experience

The planes are dated and need upgrades. Seats are not comfortable and entertainment equipment doesn’t work

Direct Connection is the biggest advantages. Aircrafts are now better but food and beverages could be better and served more often in a ultra long flight

Poor behavior by ground staff in Mumbai. Very harassing. Initially they did not let me board with my little violin. They do not have the correct information. No concept of hospitality. The food on the flight was not good.

Information about when boarding would start was missing. Ground staff wasn't ready to provide any information with the answer being in the next 15 minutes any time we asked. (Took 2 hours)

Flies in the flight, broken seats, broken entertainment system and display - worst flight ever

How to Reach Australia By Sea

Although Australia is an island, there are no direct cruises from India to Australia. However, if you are planning to visit the nearby Pacific Islands or New Zealand first, there are cruises from these countries to cities in Australia like Melbourne and Sydney. If you are thinking of how to travel to Australia, then this could be a likely option should you come from these other countries.

Transportation in australia

The best way to travel within Australia is by flight. There are a few low-cost airlines which can help budget your travel as well, but these offer limited services such as no meals or you have to pay extra for carry-on luggage etc. Some of the well-known budget airlines in Australia are Jetstar, which is an offshoot of Qantas, Australia’s national airline and TigerAir. There are also region-specific airlines such as REX and SkyTrans.

Commuting within Australia

Australia maybe the smallest continent in the world, but it is still a large country (approximately 7.5 million square kilometres in size) and there are huge distances to be covered within the country itself. There are various options to travel between states and cities but it’s also important to remember the country is approximately 4000 kms from west to east and around 3200 kms from north to south. It takes around 9 hours to drive to Melbourne from Sydney, 10 hours to Brisbane, 15 hours to Adelaide and 41 hours to Perth if you’re looking for an indication of just how long road trips can take! Here’s a quick look at the different ways that you can travel within Australia and see as much as possible of this delightful continent.

Australia is an excellent country to explore by road as the highways that connect all the big cities are excellent and perfect for driving down. You can rent cars or even motorhomes to travel across cities and places in Australia. While the roads are well maintained, do make sure that you check the road conditions before driving down. Also, it’s imperative to make sure that you’re insured. It’s a good idea to hire a good four-wheel drive or even a van as it offers more options for travellers to pack camping gear etc. Motorhomes are also excellent if you’re travelling with family as you save money on accommodation.

Australia travel requirements: rules for entry for Indians

Australia has opened borders to international travellers

Australia opened borders to fully vaccinated tourists on 21 February, along with a flurry of changes to ease travel to the continent. Recent significant changes include mandatory online lodgement for visa applications, a visa application fee waiver for travellers with visas that expired during the pandemic, and no requirement for quarantine on arrival. Among the big-ticket events coming up is the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup from 22 October to 13 November 2022. Here is all you need to know to plan that Australia holiday this year.

Rules for entry to Australia

All travellers above 18 need to be fully vaccinated to enter Australia. Here is the full list of all that is required to be eligible for entry into the country.

  • All fully vaccinated visa holders can travel to Australia without a travel exemption. They will need to carry their COVID-19 vaccination certificate. To request an exemption, you will need to show proof of medical contraindication to the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Passengers arriving by air into Australia should complete the Digital Passenger Declaration . You can complete the form seven days before your flight to Australia, but you can only submit it 72 hours prior to departure, as the declaration requires your health information 72 hours before the flight. \
  • A negative RT-PCR test or other nucleic acid amplification test result taken within three days of the flight's scheduled departure for Australia, or a medical certificate as evidence of a negative Rapid Antigen Test taken under medical supervision within 24 hours before scheduled flight departure,. for all adults conducted within 72 hours of the travel date. You must complete this before you check into the flight. Parents or guardians should complete a declaration for any child under 16 years of age. \
  • Children below the age of 12 can access the same travel arrangements as fully vaccinated people for international travel purposes. Temporary visa holders under the age of 18 at the time of departure for Australia do not require an approved travel exemption when travelling with at least one fully vaccinated adult. \
  • All travellers need to undertake a self-monitored, Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), within 24 hours of arrival into Australia. Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) results need to be reported to the respective state authority only if you test positive. Tourists travelling to South Australia will have to undertake a PCR test within 24 hours of arrival and those travelling to Western Australia will have to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) within 12 hours of arrival.  \
  • Check for updates on the requirements of the state or territory of your arrival, and any others you plan to travel to, especially for vaccination, quarantine and post-arrival testing requirements, as restrictions may change on short notice.

Can anyone catch India and Australia in the race to the WTC final?

  • S Rajesh, Stats editor, ESPNcricinfo Close S Rajesh is ESPNcricinfo's stats editor in Bangalore. He did an MBA in marketing, and then worked for a year in advertising, before deciding to chuck it in favour of a job which would combine the pleasures of watching cricket and writing about it. The intense office cricket matches were an added bonus.

Over the next few months, Test cricket will be in focus once again as teams compete for precious points to qualify for the World Test Championship final next year. Only 13 out of 27 series in the 2023-25 cycle have been played, so several teams have the opportunity to move up in the points table. Here's a look at how the teams stack up in the race for a top-two finish.

India % points: 68.52, series remaining: Ban (2 home Tests), NZ (3 home), Aus (5 away)

India lead the WTC table, having taken 68.52% of the total points available to them so far (74 out of a maximum of 108 points from nine Tests), but they have a tough tour of Australia coming up in November. Before that series, they have five home Tests lined up against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

For India to finish above 60% - they qualified for the final with 58.8 in 2023 - they need 63 points from the maximum of 120 on offer in these 10 Tests. (A win fetches 12 points and a draw four.) Five wins and a draw will fetch India 64 points, which will keep them above 60% (assuming they aren't docked points for offences like a slow over rate).

Australia Percent: 62.50, series remaining: Ind (5 home Tests), SL (2 away)

Australia are one of only two teams to have already played four out of six series in this cycle; West Indies are the other. They are sitting pretty on 62.5%, but their final ranking will largely depend on how they fare at home against India, a team which has beaten them in their last four Test series, including twice in Australia. To finish on the right side of 60%, they need 47 more points from seven Tests, which they can get with four wins, or three wins and three draws.

New Zealand Percent: 50.00, series remaining: SL (2 away Tests), Ind (3 away), Eng (3 home)

With three wins and three losses in their six Tests so far, New Zealand are on 50%, which means they need to do a lot more to finish with an overall score of 60%. Of the 96 points available in their eight remaining Tests, they need to score at least 65. Five wins and a couple of draws will do the job, but that looks an extremely tough ask given that three of those eight Tests are in India.

Sri Lanka Percent: 50.00, series remaining: Eng (3 away Tests), NZ (two home), SA (two away), Aus (two home)

Sri Lanka have the same 50% score as New Zealand, but they have played only two of six series. They have nine more Tests in this cycle, and from the 108 points on offer, they need 70 to finish above 60%. That means six wins, or five wins and three draws, which in turn means they can't afford to drop too many points in the three-Test away series in England.

South Africa Percent: 38.89, series remaining: SL (2 home Tests), Pak (2 home), Ban (2 away)

South Africa and Bangladesh are the two teams playing the fewest Tests this cycle - 12, compared to England's 22. That's all the more reason to make every game count, but so far from six Tests South Africa have picked up only 28 points, including 16 from the 1-0 series win in West Indies last week. To get to 60%, they need 59 more points from six Tests, which means five wins. They have four home Tests coming up against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, where they will have to try and pick up maximum points, before travelling to Bangladesh for an away series.

Pakistan Percent: 36.66, series remaining: Ban (2 home Tests), Eng (3 home), SA (2 home), WI (2 home)

Like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Pakistan have played only two out of six series in this cycle. Both of them were overseas - in Sri Lanka and Australia - which means they have the opportunity to make the most of home conditions in the three series against Bangladesh, England and West Indies; their only remaining away series is in South Africa.

To get to 60%, Pakistan need 79 out of 108 points available to them from their nine remaining Tests. They can get those with six wins and a couple of draws, or seven wins. Given that they have exactly seven home games to come, that looks like a pretty straightforward equation.

England Percent: 36.54, series remaining: SL (3 home Tests), Pak (3 away), NZ (3 away)

Had it not been for 19 penalty points deducted because of a slow over rate, England would have had a much heathier percentage of 48.72. Now, though, they need 102 out of 108 points in their nine remaining Tests to finish above 60%. If they win eight of those Tests and draw one, they will get 100. That means they need to win every remaining Test in this cycle - if they do that, they can give away six more penalty points and still finish on the right side of 60.

Bangladesh Percent: 25.00, series remaining: Pak (2 away Tests), Ind (2 away), WI (2 away), SA (2 home)

Bangladesh have four series left, but only one of those is at home, against South Africa. To finish on 60%, they need 75 points out of a possible 96 from eight Tests, which means six wins and a draw.

West Indies Percent: 18.52, series remaining: Ban (2 home Tests), Pak (2 away) West Indies have already played four series and have only scored 20 points out of 108. Even if they win their last four Tests, they can only finish on 43.59%.
