Voted "Best" Tour For Central Florida In Orlando Airboat Reviews !

Our ninety-minute ride was everything we had hoped it would been, and it was made even more enjoyable by my comfy bucket seat in the front row (and a carabiner to secure my bag). Captain Wayde was friendly to us guests and, even more importantly to me, respectful of the animal life we encountered. I think that a Marsh Landing Adventures airboat ride is an excellent way to leave one’s everyday world behind and get immersed in Central Florida nature.

Had a fantastic 1hr ride out with Capt Scott what a charmer very funny and knows his stuff for sure, had a wonderful exhilarating ride out into the swamps even had a beer at no charge if you are there in the area its a well worth trip.

We had a boat tour with Captain Chris and honestly if I had the time this holiday I would go again! It was amazing! The marsh was picturesque and full of wildlife. We were even lucky enough to see a few alligators! Our Captain was great ; very friendly and informative! An absolute 10/10.

First trip to Florida and this was one of my things to go too. Awesome place for Swap Tours. Great people at the front office with a smile as you walk in. Captain Jim is the man. Very likable and great personality! We got to see an 8’ alligator which was pretty cool. Great job guys!

This was an absolutely great airboat tour. AJ was our guide, who was informative and humorous too! I had a keen interest in birding and he pointed out about 10+ species of birds including 4 bald eagles. We saw about 5-10 alligators during our visit. Would visit again & highly recommend!

Wild Willys was a great Airboat ride through the marshes. Saw several gators and lots of wildlife. The guide was knowledgable about the area and very friendly. The people inside were also very friendly and knowledgable. Definitely recommend.

The one-hour airboat ride was perfect. We saw a variety of wildlife. The speed of the boat (what I really came for) was good, some fast times, some slow times. I chose the 9am time to avoid the sun and heat, and that was perfect too. I highly recommend Wild Willy's.

Billie Swamp Safari's Award-Winning Swamp Buggy Eco-Tour

Experience our award-winning 55-minute Swamp Buggy Eco-Tour as you immerse yourself into Florida’s best natural attraction. Furthermore, visitors can learn about the fragile ecosystem of the Florida Everglades and the flora and fauna that surrounds you. Our guides will take you on a journey through time while you explore the lush wilderness of Seminole Country. Moreover, bounce and splash through the swamp as you view native and exotic wildlife up-close and in a free-roaming environment. For example, Swamp buggy riders will see an array of native and exotic animals. These include; deer, antelope and bison, many species of birds, rookeries, alligators and hogs. In fact, some lucky guests may get a glimpse of a Florida Panther or Black Bear.

Along the swamp buggy trail, guests can visit a  Florida Seminole Indian Camp. Here, you can learn about Seminole culture and history. In fact, you can even learn about a few plant uses that were vital to Seminole  survival hundreds of years ago. Many are still used today as holistic remedies.

What is a Swamp Buggy?

Swamp Buggies are open, custom motorized vehicles with a canopy top. They also have powerful tractor tires to move effortlessly through the swamp, while acting as shock-absorption to riders. Thus, the expression “bounce” around on a swamp buggy. More specifically, swamp buggies are designed to provide visitors with an elevated view of the Florida Everglades. In this environment, swamp buggy vehicles stomp through the wetlands, cypress heads and hardwood hammocks. A swamp buggy travels over dry land and muddy marshes, giving you a great view to see plants and animals that an airboat can’t reach. In contrast, on this open ride, you are the one in a “cage,” not the animals.

The Everglades Swamp Buggy is an Off-Road Adventure

Our Florida Everglades swamp buggies can cross virtually any type of terrain. As such, they give new meaning to the phrase “off-road”. Whether it’s thick marsh, uneven ground, thatch brush or low water passages, you’ll see and experience it all. At the same time, our swamp buggies are built for your comfort and safety. Moreover, our nature tour will provide an intimate look at Everglades plant and wildlife. Most importantly, it will be the best Florida Everglades vacation you can cherish for a lifetime.

15 Best Orlando Airboat Tours

There’s a lot more to Orlando than Disneyland and Universal Studios. The fact that there are 12 theme parks to choose from makes it a great destination for families; however, it’s also a great spot for getting out into nature, shopping, and pampering yourself in a hotel.

One of the most interesting ways to see what Orlando has on offer is by doing an airboat tour. For those who aren’t entirely sure what that is, it’s a flat-bottomed boat powered by an aircraft propeller. They’re a great form of transport to use in marshy areas, such as those found in one of the biggest attractions close to the city – Florida’s Everglades National Park, home to alligators, turtles, manatees, and many more native species.

We’ve selected the 15 best airboat tours in Orlando, so without further ado, here they are.

1. Orlando: 90-Minute Airboat Everglades Adventure Tour

Airboat Everglades Adventure Tour

This 1 ½ hour tour is a great option to get yourself out into nature. See what Florida was like before the state’s swamps were swallowed up by urban development and the construction of Orlando’s world-famous theme parks.

Travel through the world’s largest living estuary on a six-seater stadium boat. With this style of vessel, there’s no seat where you don’t get a good view. Aim to spot bald eagles and the American alligator.

You’ll get ear protection, bimini tops to protect you from the sun’s rays, a life jacket, and rainwear, meaning that your airboat ride will be as comfortable as possible.

2. Kennedy Space Center and Airboat Safari Tour

Shuttle, Kennedy Space Center

A great choice for families, this tour combines a visit to the world-famous Kennedy Space Center with a half hour airboat ride on the St John’s River.

Enjoy round-trip travel from your meeting point in Orlando to the Space Center, where you’ll learn and have loads of fun at the same time. Not only will you get to stand inside the launch control room, but you’ll also see the biggest rocket ever to take flight – the Saturn 5. Best of all, you’ll have a chance to ride the Shuttle Launch Simulator ride. Be prepared for a lot of shaking!

After you’re tired of exploring outer space, it’s time for a ½ hour airboat ride on the St John’s River, where you’ll have a chance to see indigenous flora and fauna. If you’re really lucky, you might even see the most famous resident – the American alligator.

If you’re feeling brave, why not try feeding an alligator or having your picture taken with one? Then it’s back to the meeting point in the transport, which is included as part of this great day out.

4. Everglades and Miami Adventure Tour from Orlando

Florida Everglades

The perfect way to see the best of what Orlando and the surrounding areas have to offer, this generous 16-hour tour takes in several exciting attractions and will leave you feeling like you’ve learned a lot about the Sunshine State.

After your airboat tour, you’ll be whisked to the Wild Florida Wildlife Park {your admission fee has already taken care of). Here, you’ll see the alligators in captivity and learn how to treat these creatures at the gator-handling show. There’s more to the park than gators though; a tropical-bird aviary, zebras, and watusis can be found here.

Round off your trip by ambling along the Hawk Swamp boardwalk before heading back to Orlando.

If you're planning a trip to Miami or Fort Lauderdale, Florida , visiting Everglades National Park should be on your to-do list. The South Florida national park is known for its expansive beauty, as well as its varied population of wildlife that includes everything from bobcats to alligators.

To see all the Everglades has to offer, sign up for a guided tour. U.S. News consulted both traveler sentiment and expert opinion to identify the top Everglades tours. Before you go, make sure you read through the National Park Service's Wildlife Viewing Ethics to keep both yourself and the animals safe during your time in the park. When choosing the best Everglades tours, we avoided recommending operators that promote wildlife shows or encourage feeding or holding the animals for photo-ops.

Visitors should plan to pay a fee to enter the park, as it may not be included in the price of the tour ticket. You should also keep in mind that many of these tour operators are located at least 30 miles west of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Tours that run on airboats – open-air vessels with huge fans at the back that propel the boat – can be very loud. Companies will generally offer ear protection, but if you or your companions are sensitive to loud noises, contact the tour provider to discuss options before you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Like any other form of transportation, riding an airboat may come with some risks. To stay safe on your Everglades airboat tour, be sure to choose a company run by experienced, professional boaters (most of which undergo special training and are approved by the U.S. Coast Guard) and adhere to all rules set forth by your guide. Parents should keep a close eye on children and be sure they are properly fitted for their life jackets, and all passengers should protect against the heat by wearing sunscreen and staying hydrated. Commercial airboats typically do not exceed speeds of 30 to 40 mph to ensure a safe, smooth ride, and most operators will reschedule your tour in the event of lightning or other inclement weather. Tour companies will also generally provide riders with proper ear protection, as the boats are quite loud.

Typically, passengers will feel the most comfortable in lightweight, sleeveless clothing and shorts while on an Everglades airboat tour. If you are taking a wintertime tour, keep an eye on the weather – pants and long sleeves may be a better option, but you likely won't need a heavy jacket. Be sure to bring sunglasses, sunscreen and water to protect yourself from the effects of the sun; you may also want a hat to provide further shade and keep hair in place. Passengers with long hair are advised to wear it in a ponytail or bun to keep it from becoming knotted in the wind. Tourgoers may also wish to apply some bug spray prior to embarking on their adventure.

Airboat tours last about an hour, though duration will depend on the tour company.

An airboat's top speed is about 30 mph.

Not normally, but you run a small risk of getting misted with water. If you take a tour when it is raining, expect to get wet.

In winter, you'll want to time your visit for midday, when it warms up. In summer, you'll want to visit in the morning or later afternoon when it's coolest. Visiting at these times can increase your chances of seeing wildlife, but you'll likely see all kinds of critters no matter when you visit year-round.

The Legend of Halloween Horror Nights

Voted the world’s best Halloween event for 14 years by Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards, Halloween Horror Nights isn’t your average haunted house attraction. It’s the stuff of legend, with a world-class creative entertainment team, incredible immersive environments, decades of interwoven backstory, and a dedicated fan base across the globe.

I’m one of those fans, a self-identified horror addict who first attended HHN back in 2007. I met Jack the Clown, screamed my way through headliner houses themed after iconic slasher films, and even caught a glimpse of the magic behind some of the event’s most compelling scares. I’ve been to almost every Halloween Horror Nights event in Orlando since.

There’s something about the adrenaline rush, the music, the costumes, the incredible storytelling, the sets and yes, some very creative blood and guts that thrill me to the bone. It could be perhaps that unlike in the real world, here I know I am safe. I can immerse myself in stories of cinematic proportions — including some ripped directly from the silver screen — and walk out smiling, laughing, nodding. “Now who’s hungry?”

And clearly, I’m not alone. Halloween Horror Nights is one of Orlando’s most highly anticipated events, with thousands eagerly lining up night after night to be horrified, entranced and scared out of their pants. It’s been that way since 1991, when the first-ever “Fright Nights” debuted at Universal Studios Florida . Since then, the event has grown, taking on a new name, new fans and more scares than ever across 48 nights. Let’s see who’ll be haunting our nightmares this Halloween season.

New Scares at Halloween Horror Nights

With all-new houses, scare zones and shows every single year, you can almost guarantee that you’ll never have the same experience twice. Here’s a peek at some of the new Halloween Horror Nights experiences coming in 2024.

Halloween Horror Nights 2024 images

10 New Houses

Stick with your group and get ready to scream your way through 10 frightful haunted houses. Four houses are based off iconic film and TV productions, while the remaining six haunts come directly from the twisted minds of Universal Orlando’s in-house creative team. They run the gamut from campy to gory for an immersive, bone-chilling experience. The only way out is through .

In 2024, new Halloween Horror Nights houses at Universal Orlando Resort include:

  • Insidious: The Further : Based on the Insidious film franchise produced by Blumhouse Productions in association with Sony Pictures, this house transports you into a paranormal dimension of tortured souls and demonic entities.
  • Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire : The Ghostbusters are back to protect the city from vengeful spirits and more nefarious villains in this house based on its namesake Sony Pictures film.
  • A Quiet Place : Don’t make a peep, or monstrous creatures will hunt you down in this post-apocalyptic house based off Paramount Pictures’ A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place II . This will be the first house in Halloween Horror Nights history to incorporate American Sign Language.
  • Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines : Get caught in an epic battle for dominance as Saskia Van Helsing and the Bride of Frankenstein go up against Dracula’s daughter and her monstrous mavens She-Wolf and Anck-su-namun.
  • Triplets of Terror : You’re invited to the Barmy triplets’ birthday bash. But beware, they celebrate by recreating their family’s murders. Prepare for a gory gathering.
  • Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America : Run if you can from legendary monstruos like the blood-sucking Tlahuelpuchi, owl-faced witch La Lechuza and bone-ripping El Silbón.
  • The Museum: Deadly Exhibits : An evil spirit escapes from The Rotting Stone, a new display at the local folklore exhibit, possessing and decaying everything in its path.
  • Major Sweets Candy Factory : You’ve been called on to chaperone a field trip to a candy factory. But this sweet tour is about to turn sour when free samples transform the kids into candy-coated killers wielding sharpened candies.
  • Goblin’s Feast : A lavish feast is being prepared for the goblins, orcs, hobgoblins and witches of the goblin village — and you are the main course.
  • Slaughter Sinema 2 : If you’re dying for a B-movie horror marathon, head to the Carey Drive-in. Scream through scenes from creature features, grindhouse gore, spaghetti westerns and more.

Five New Scare Zones

  • Duality of Fear : The moment you enter Halloween Horror Nights, you must choose a path in this fascinating dual scare zone. Follow SINIST3R, the manifestation of visceral horror, or follow SURR3EAL, the incarnation of unearthly terror.
  • Demon Queens : Get caught in an otherworldly hellscape ripped from the darkest corners of your mind. Four merciless queens loyal to SURR3AL rule, surrounded by hordes of fanatical followers.
  • Swamp of the Undead : In backwaters Louisiana, you unwittingly wander onto private property, where you’re swamped by zombies borne from the bodies of other trespassers who were killed and dumped in a nearby bog.
  • Torture Faire : SINIST3R's Renaissance fair has a dark medieval torture theme, complete with gory homemade devices.
  • Enter the Blumhouse : Come face-to-face with a terrifying gauntlet of Blumhouse characters, including M3GAN, The Grabber and more icons of modern horror.

  • Nightmare Fuel: Nocturnal Circus : Step right up to a dark circus, a new nightmare that carries with it a sinister curse. Get trapped in a thrilling spectacle of pyro and aerialists to the beat of pulse pounding rock rhythms.

Select tickets, annual passes, upgrades, tours and vacation packages are available directly through Universal Orlando Resort. You can also save on daytime and Halloween Horror Nights tickets through Visit Orlando powered by BestofOrlando.com. Scream Early

Get a head start on your night by arriving early. If you have a Halloween Horror Nights ticket and a Scream Early or daytime ticket for Universal Studios Florida, simply head to a designated Stay & Scream zone before the park’s 5 p.m. closing time. When the park re-opens for Halloween Horror Nights, you’ll be among the first guests released into the park. Each zone offers early access to a different area of the park, so choose your path wisely.

Discover: Things to Do at Universal Studios Florida

For the first time ever, Universal is also hosting a Halloween Horror Nights Premium Scream Night , which gives you access to all the scares on August 29, one day before the event officially begins. Scream early to enjoy staggered entry, lower house wait times, limited capacity, an unlimited selection of food items, free self-parking, souvenir event credentials, and more brag-worthy goodies.

Spend Less Time in Line

There’s nothing more frightening than spending half your night waiting in line — so don’t! There are several ways to bypass the standby line for your favorite haunts, or to at least reduce your wait time.

One of the most popular paid options is the Universal Express Pass, which can be used once per house and at participating attractions for reduced Express wait times. You can also book a guided R.I.P. tour to enjoy front-of-line access to each haunted house. Choose from private and non-private options to suit your preferences.

How to Navigate Halloween Horror Nights Without Express

No Express Pass? No worries. Brave Halloween Horror Nights by arriving early, staying late and prioritizing your must-do’s. The houses in the front of the park and those based on popular film and TV productions tend to remain busy most of the night, while those spread throughout the park enjoy a slower start to the night. No guarantees, of course, but in my experience, wait times typically start to drop around midnight. With that in mind, you can create your own custom itinerary, start checking things off, and make the most of time spent in line with friends.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida

Shriek on Pulse-Pounding Rides

Select Universal Studios Florida attractions are open throughout Halloween Horror Nights, giving you a whole new way to scream. Wait times for high-octane rides are often lower after hours, so check them out between houses to keep things interesting. Pay attention to special operating hours, as some of these rides may close before the event ends.

Minimize the Scares With These Scaredy-Cat Tactics

If it’s your first time at Halloween Horror Nights (or your braver friends dragged you into going again ), you might be a little nervous about what lies beyond the park gates. Fear not. Try some of these tricks to keep your cool when it all gets to be too much.

  • Wear earbuds or earplugs to dull any loud noises.
  • Stick to the sidewalks to enjoy most — but certainly not all — of the scare zone action from afar.
  • Take in a show. They’re pulse-pounding good fun without the jump-scares.
  • Let your friends go first in the houses and hang on tight.
  • DON’T RUN. Seriously, do you want them to chase you?

Eat, Drink & Be Scary

All that screaming and running around is guaranteed to make you hungry. Satisfy your appetite with themed treats and diabolical drinks inspired by the Halloween season. Stay tuned for more details as they are announced.

More Ways to Celebrate Halloween at Universal Orlando Resort

Looking for even more spooky fun? These events and offerings are also available at Universal Orlando Resort throughout the Halloween season. Universal also has several spooky spots that are open all year long, perfect for Halloween ghoulies like me who’ve been listening to HHN-inspired playlists since last season ended.

Unmasking the Horror Tour

Go behind the screams on a guided, lights-on tour of select Halloween Horror Nights houses. Choose between 3- or 6-house tour options to get a closer look at the props, sets, stories and illusions that form the heart of this incredible Halloween event. If that wasn’t cool enough, here’s the kicker: You don’t need a Halloween Horror Nights or a daytime park ticket to enjoy the tour. It’s perfect for seasoned, detail-obsessed HHN fans like myself and those who are curious but not quite ready to commit to a full night of scares.

Halloween Tribute Store

Shop for exclusive Halloween Horror Nights merchandise at the Halloween Tribute Store, a themed, limited time offering in the New York section of Universal Studios Florida. It’s open all day long, so you can even check it out while you wait for the event to start. Stay tuned for more Tribute Store details as they are announced.

Halloween Offerings at Universal CityWalk

The spooky fun doesn’t stop when you leave Universal Studios Florida. Enjoy bewitching food and beverage items at select Universal CityWalk restaurants, and don’t leave without visiting one of my favorite stops: The Dead Coconut Club. This spooky version of the Red Coconut Club is perfect for a pre- or post-Halloween hangout, with ghoulish cocktails, live entertainment and maybe even a familiar horror icon or two.
