Khao yai national park, private tour | 1-day wildlife tour with night safari in khao yai.
Besides what a 1 day tour offers, combining one day tour with a night safari well after the dark will give you a chance to see both diurnal and nocturnal wildlife of Khao Yai National Park.
A 1-day tour will start in the morning and end well after the dark. Activities include hiking in the jungle, safari driving among the roads in search of elephants and other exciting animals, safari drives in the morning and later afternoon, visiting a viewpoint and one of Khao Yai's impressive waterfalls and finally ending the day with a night safari.
The itinerary below is just an example and can easily be turned upside down due to the length of different activities. We adapt to mother nature and customers' interests.
We will meet you at your hotel or other pick-up location we agreed on.
The tour always starts around 8 to 8:30 am with a slow drive through jungle and grasslands in search of wildlife. Once we arrive at the first hiking point we continue the trip in the rain forest between huge trees in search of any type of animal.
After lunch the first stop will be Haew Suwat Waterfall, known from Leonardio Di Caprio's "The Beach" movie, possibly continuing the tour to one of the best viewpoints of the national park. Last couple of hours before dinner will be an ideal time for searching for elephants.
After the dinner break our tour will end with a night safari in search of nocturnal wildlife, thereafter you will be returned to your hotel or other location we agreed on around 8 to 9 pm.

Where & when?
Khao Yai National Park is around 2.5 hours from Bangkok, easily accessible with public transportation with minivans being the fastest way. Our private guides will meet you in your hotel in Pak Chong -which is the nearest city- or anywhere between Pak Chong and Khao Yai National Park.
We can arrange a taxi from Bangkok on request. It takes 2.5 hours, it costs 2,200 Baht one way or 3,200 Baht for a round trip within the same day.
The park is open and accessible all year round but for night safaris we strongly recommend to avoid week-ends and public holidays when there are too many vehicles on the roads, reducing the chance to see animals significantly. The weather can be pretty cool during the cold season around November to February, so a sweater is a must!

Hello, this is Marco - let me add a few more compliments about this National Park tour as well:
• Our tour guide is not only knowledgable in the nature and animals, but also has a great understanding of different cultures - he often relates the plants and animals to the local stuff in Europe and rest of Asia, so the 6 of us (2 Germans, 2 from HK, 2 from Taiwan) would understand in our own context.
• He also drives very carefully and thoughtfully - we didn't get bumped around on the twisty roads and speed humps, and when we return from night safari, he manages to spot two animals on the road and stopped for us to see them clearly.
Both Donna and I agree - this tour is definitely the highlight of our trip in Thailand! Thanks for the great tour service :)

Early start, 6:00 am, arrived back in Bangkok at 22:30. 2.5 hours drive each way but the car was very comfortable (we slept very well each way). Our guide was great, making an effort to show us as many animals and birds as possible and taking the time to explain various parts of the jungle. The sounds of the gibbons are the definition of jungle sounds and we have heard and seen plenty of them. Beautiful hornbills too, cutting the air with their swooshing sound. We were lucky to see an elephant too! All in all a remarkable experience, perfectly organised and we fully recommend it!

We join the tour on 19Mar 2024 with Rose and Bo.
Their observations skills are superb and show deep knowledge of the wildlife. Thanks to them, we were fortunate enough to encounter deers, many gibbons and hornbills among other magnificent creatures. It was an awe-inspiring sight that left a lasting impression on all of us.
Moreover, Rose and Bo went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable experience. She not only guided us through the park but also took the time to help us capture beautiful photographs of the wildlife we encountered. Their professionalism and expertise were evident as she skillfully used her telescopes to ensure we had clearview of the wildlifes.
With their expertises and passion, the tour completely changed my perspective on Khao Yai National Park. Seeing these incredible animals in their natural habitats , made me realize the importance of preserving and appreciating wildlife in their natural environments. It was a truly transformative experience that I will cherish for a lifetime.
I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who is passionate about birds, animals, and nature to join the tour. Their genuine love for these creatures, and exceptional skills in spotting wildlife are truly remarkable. They made our tour a memorable and educational journey.

This was a great experience, everything was really well organised and we got to do what we wanted to do. Our guide was knowledgeable and really great describing everything we saw as well as asking all our questions. The trek was about 90 minutes which was enough for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Why Khao Yai national park as a tour destination?
Our enthusiastic tour guides leading our tours in Khao Yai national park will bring you closer to Thailand's amazing wildlife. The park is one of the country's greatest natural highlights. The perfect combination of wonderful scenery, amazing wildlife, and ease of access. We often hear from our guests, that the Khao Yai tour turned out to be the highlight of their travels in Thailand. It can be yours too!
What are the available tour activities in Khao Yai ?
Wildlife watching is the main theme of all our Khao Yai tours. It is a huge nature park and there is enough to do to keep you busy for multiple days. One of the activities are jungle walks. Walking in the forest while listening, smelling, and scanning the surroundings for any possible signs of wildlife. A falling seed, scratches on a tree, the scent of an elephant, a territorial call of a gibbon; anything that could lead to a close encounter with Thailand's charismatic wildlife. But often enough the safari drives tend to be more successful, especially for the larger animals.
Quite often people indicate that they would like to focus on the wildlife watching instead of e.g., visiting a waterfall. However, the roads in the park happen to lead to these scenic locations, and it's fairly common that wildlife is encountered either on the way to, or even at these locations. Depending on the tour package, several of the major scenic sights will be visited, and on some tours we will go out in the evening for a short night drive using a spotlight to look for nocturnal wildlife.
Even though outside the national park, another great spot is the bat cave where an extraordinary event takes place every evening at sunset. Millions of Wrinkle-lipped Bats emerge from a cave to forage far afield. The seemingly indefinite river of bats is an amazing sight that should not be missed.
If you'd like to experience all these activities, our 3-day wildlife tour package is your best option. But if time is limited, even a day-trip is still worth it to get an introduction to Khao Yai's wonderful natural world.
Where is the national park located?
Khao Yai national park lies at just 2.5 - 3 hours Northeast of Bangkok. The park is easily accessible, the infrastructure in the park is good and besides Khao Yai's proximity to Bangkok, it is easy to reach from Nakhon Ratchasima, as well. Our tours start from Pak Chong, a town to the north of the park. And we are able to organize transfers from Bangkok, and other places.
When is the best time for tours in Khao Yai ?
The park is accessible throughout the year, and tours can take off every day of the year. But booking in advance is recommended!
Every season has its own advantages. The months November to February are often dry and cool in Khao Yai. Bring a sweater, it can get cold in the early mornings/ evenings.
Even in the months March to May it is a good area to escape from the heat of the surrounding region.
The wet season is from June to October, a great time to visit because the entire jungle seems to come alive. The waterfalls are more impressive, the forests are lush and green, and warmth- and moist-loving animals are more often sighted in this season.
