In conclusion, being well-informed about Turkey visa validity and fees enhances the overall travel experience for UAE residents. By planning accordingly and staying within the guidelines, you can enjoy a seamless and enriching visit to Turkey, appreciating its diverse landscapes, rich culture, and warm hospitality.

Exploring Additional Options: Tourist Visa on Arrival

While the Turkey visa for UAE residents primarily involves the e-visa process, there is an alternative worth considering— the tourist visa on arrival.

For those who prefer spontaneity or find themselves traveling without prior arrangements, the tourist visa to Turkey for UAE residents upon arrival can be a viable option.

Upon landing in Turkey, you can proceed to the visa counter and complete the necessary documentation. However, it is crucial to be aware of potential delays or complications that may arise during this process.

Opting for the tourist visa on arrival can be convenient for last-minute travel decisions. Yet, it is essential to weigh the advantages and disadvantages. The e-visa, obtained in advance, provides a smoother entry process and reduces the risk of unexpected issues.

If you choose the on-arrival option, ensure you have all required documents ready, including proof of accommodation, a round-trip flight reservation, and necessary financial documentation. These requirements align with the standard criteria for the turkey visa UAE residents typically pursue.

Before deciding on the on-arrival option, consider the nature of your trip and the likelihood of smooth processing. Regardless of your chosen method, staying informed about visa regulation changes is crucial for stress-free entry into Turkey.

In conclusion, while the e-visa is the primary focus, the tourist visa on arrival offers an alternative for UAE residents. Evaluate your plans, weigh pros and cons, and choose the option aligning best with your preferences and circumstances.

– What is e-Visa ? An e-Visa is an official document permitting entry into and travel within Turkey. The e-Visa is an alternative to visas issued at Turkish missions and at the ports of entry.

Applicants obtain their visas electronically after entering required information and making payments by a credit or debit card (Mastercard, Visa or UnionPay).

– What do I need for my e-Visa application ? You need to have a travel document valid for at least 6 months from the date you intend to enter Turkey. Depending on your nationality, there may be additional requirements.

– Do I need to enter Turkey on the exact date specified in my application? No. The validity period of your e-Visa begins from the date specified in your application. You can enter Turkey on any date within this period.

– I would like to stay in Turkey for a period of time longer than the e-visa permits. What should I do? If you wish to stay in Turkey longer than your e-Visa permits, you must apply at local Police Station for a residence permit. Please note that an e-Visa is granted only for tourism and trade purposes. Best Time To Visit Turkey

The best times to travel from UAE to Turkey are from April to May and September to October. During these months, the warm climate is perfect for walking and exploring. They're also not busy with tourists, so it's more relaxed and less costly.

On the other hand, the peak tourist season is from June to August. It’s also not uncommon to run into another UAE-based friend if you travel to Turkey during Eid! On the other hand, Turkey’s low season is between November and March. Despite it being cold during those months, it's a fantastic time for budget travel and ski resorts!

Here's a detailed rundown of Turkey's weather all year round.

Spring (April To May)

Turkey basks in the beauty of blooming flowers and warm weather. While most parts of the country, including Istanbul, are inviting during these months, be cautious about visiting the Turquoise Coast as some resorts might be closed post-winter. Spring also sees the International Istanbul Film Festival in April and the Hidrellez Festival in May, a celebration of spring with traditional music.

Summer (June To August)

This is when it's the most hot and crowded. Tourists flock to Turkey during this time of the year to enjoy their summer vacations. It's especially hot inland, but the coastal areas offer the perfect weather. Enjoy the beach, and attend the Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival.

Fall (September To October)

Shorter, cooler days are ahead! This is a great time to appreciate Turkey's cultural heritage along the Silk Route or hike the Lycian Way. However, the Kurban Bayrami holiday in early September brings crowds.

Winter (November To March)

This is the low season due to colder temperatures, except in the southeastern region near Antalya.

While it's not the best time to tan, it's the perfect time to ski, particularly in Erzurum or Kartepe. This season also offers quieter city experiences, particularly in Istanbul. If you're visiting in December, make sure to enjoy the Mevlana and Whirling Dervish Festival in Konya.

shopping in Istanbul, Turkey

Shopping in Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul is a haven for shoppers. Did you know that some famous stores in Dubai are originally based in Turkey? This means items are much cheaper there! Many UAE residents and citizens fly off to Turkey with a main goal: to shop for a third of the price of the same item you'd find in the UAE.

It's common for brides to order or travel to buy their wedding dresses from Turkey for a fraction of the price, with the same great quality.

Grand Bazaar

If you're planning to shop in Turkey, you must visit the Grand Bazaar, one of the world's oldest and largest covered markets. With over 4,000 shops across 61 streets, you can find everything from carpets, spices, jewelry, textiles, and ceramics. Haggling here is quite common.

Spice Bazaar

For a unique shopping experience, head over to the Spice Bazaar. This fragrant market is a feast for the senses with its array of colorful spices, dried fruits, nuts, and Turkish delights.

Designer Shopping

Istiklal Avenue and Nisantasi are perfect if you're looking for international designer boutiques and Turkish designer outlets.

You can also visit Istinye Park and Kanyon, two of Istanbul's luxury shopping centers housing international brands, cinemas, restaurants, and more.

Turkey Travel Tips for UAE Residents and Citizens

Before flying from the UAE to Turkey, follow these tips for a smooth trip.

The Turkish lira (TRY) is the local currency. You can use credit cards around Turkey, but carrying some cash for convenience stores and bazaars can be useful. Turkey also has a wide range of ATMs and currency exchange facilities.

Plugs and Adaptors

Turkey primarily uses two types of plug systems, Type C and Type F. Type C has two round pins, while Type F also features two round pins along with two earth clips on the side. The country operates on a standard voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz. Since you're visiting from the UAE, which has a plug type G, we recommend you pack a compatible adapter for your electronic devices.

Getting Around

Navigating through Turkey is relatively straightforward. Public transport, such as local taxis and buses, are readily available, and services are generally reliable.

For free spirits and adventurers, car rental services are available throughout Turkey. You can opt to rent a car if you plan to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations or remote terrains.

Schengen Visa Application Guide for UAE Residents

Europe is one of the places on my bucket list. Having said that, I am fully aware of the fact that to apply for a Schengen Visa, which recently has been changing its requirements, I need to get acquainted with these changing requirements in particular.

The UAE: A Hub of Global Travelers

UAE is not just a tourist place but also a destination for a business tripper as well. Also, the UAE residents are part of the world’s most frequent global travelers. For Schengen States, the UAE ranked among the top 15 countries with the highest number of visa applications in 2017, evidencing the positive expansion of its role on the world tourism map.

Visa-Free Travel for UAE Passport Holders:

From May 2015, the citizens of the United Arab Emirates became possessors of visa-free access to the Schengen Area which comprises 26 European countries. Such an advantage enables me to overcome the borders of the mentioned countries like Austria, Belgium, Italy, and Spain.

Upcoming Changes with ETIAS Visa:

Starting in 2024, UAE citizens will need to apply for an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) visa before traveling to Europe. This new requirement underscores the importance of staying updated with travel regulations.

Document Requirements for UAE Citizens:

Even with visa-free privileges, UAE passport holders must present certain documents at European ports of entry, including:

  • A valid UAE passport, with validity extending three months beyond the intended stay.
  • Evidence of the trip’s purpose, like a tourist itinerary or business invitations.
  • Proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of the stay.

Who Needs a Schengen Visa in the UAE?

While UAE citizens enjoy visa-free travel, certain cases still require a Schengen Visa:

  • UAE passport holders who have faced prior visa-free entry refusals.
  • Foreign residents in the UAE from countries that do not have visa-free agreements with the Schengen area or who have previously been refused visa-free entry.

Schengen Visa Application Requirements for UAE Residents

UAE residents planning to apply for a Schengen Visa need to prepare the following documents:

  • Application Form: Fill out the visa application form accurately and sign it.
  • Valid Passport: Your passport should be no more than 10 years old and must have at least three months of validity beyond your intended departure from the Schengen area.
  • Passport Photos: Supply two recent passport-sized photographs that comply with Schengen visa photo requirements.
  • Residence Permit: Include a copy of your UAE residence permit valid for at least three months after your planned exit from the Schengen area.
  • Travel Itinerary: Provide a detailed flight itinerary indicating your entry and exit plans from the Schengen zone.
  • Cover Letter: Draft a cover letter that outlines the purpose of your visit, the countries you will visit, the duration of your stay, and other pertinent details.
  • Proof of Accommodation: Show where you will stay during your visit by providing hotel bookings, rental agreements, or an invitation letter from a host.
  • Proof of Financial Means: Demonstrate your financial ability to support yourself during your stay with bank statements, sponsorship letters, or both.
  • Travel Insurance: Obtain travel health insurance covering at least 30,000 euros, including medical emergencies and repatriation in case of death.

Ensuring that these documents are correctly prepared and presented will help streamline your visa application process.

How to Apply for a Schengen Visa in the UAE

Applying for a Schengen Visa from the UAE requires a few key steps:

Determine the Embassy/Consulate:

, find out which embassy or consulate you need to apply to. This depends on your main destination within the Schengen Zone or the country where you will spend the most time.

Schedule an Appointment:

Once you know where to apply, book an appointment at the relevant embassy, consulate, or visa application center.

Attend the Visa Interview:

Bring all required documents in the correct order for your visa interview.

Wait for a Response:

After your interview, the embassy will process your application. This includes security checks via systems like the Visa Information System (VIS) and the Schengen Information System (SIS). Typically, the processing time can be up to 15 days.

Schengen Visa Fees:

Adults: AED 340 (EUR 80)

Children (6-12 years): AED 170 (EUR 40)

Children under 6: Free

Diplomatic/service passport holders and family members of EU/EEA nationals: Free

Where to Apply:

When you want to apply for a Schengen Visa in the UAE, here’s what you need to know about where to go:

  • Find the Embassy or Consulate: Most Schengen countries have an embassy in Abu Dhabi and a consulate in Dubai. Choose the location that is most convenient for you.
  • Check the Application Process: Some embassies or consulates take visa applications directly. Others use special service companies to handle them. You should look at the website of the embassy or consulate for the country you want to visit to find out how they want you to apply.

For detailed information on where to apply for your Schengen Visa, refer to the specific locations that handle visa applications for various Schengen member states in the UAE:

  • Czech Republic

Ensure that you follow the guidelines and provide all necessary documentation to smoothly navigate the Schengen Visa application process in the UAE. Safe travels on your European adventure!

UAE introduces new visa rules – August 2024

The UAE is taking significant steps to solidify its position as a prime destination for work, investment, entrepreneurship, education, and living by introducing a major restructuring of its entry and residence systems.

This includes new visa rules that offer various types of entry visas and residence permits, as well as expanded categories for the Golden Visa .

UAE’s Entry Visas and Residence Permits

In a recent announcement, the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) declared that individuals who have not renewed their residency visas and have accumulated fines will be granted a two-month grace period.

During this period, which starts on September 1, 2024, these fines will be waived, allowing residents to either renew their visas or leave the UAE without incurring any penalties.

New UAE Entry Visa Rules 2024

Entry permit for a temporary work mission.

Among the new visa rules for 2024 is the entry permit for a temporary work mission. This permit is available for visitors with a temporary work assignment, such as probationary work or project-based missions, provided they are sponsored by their employer.

Relatives or friends of UAE citizens or residents can also apply. Applicants need to submit a temporary work contract or a letter from their employer detailing the visit’s purpose, along with proof of health and fitness to work.

Residence Permit for Humanitarian Cases

The UAE will also issue residence permits for specific humanitarian cases. These include female residents whose UAE national husbands have passed away in the country and who have children, parents or children of UAE citizens holding foreign passports, and spouses and children of Gulf Corporation Council ( GCC ) state citizens with foreign passports.

Dubai & UAE Re-entry Permit

Additionally, Dubai residents who have stayed outside the UAE for more than six months can now apply for a re-entry permit.

This permit, valid for 30 days after approval, allows residents to return to the UAE without having their residency canceled. Applications for this permit can be made through the ICP official website, with a slightly different process for those holding Dubai-issued visas.

UAE visa amnesty 2024: Will overstaying expats face ban after changing status?

R esidence visa violators in the country will be given a chance to start anew when theon September 1. They will be able to and fly home without having to pay their fines — but will they face a ban? Will they still be able to return to the UAE?

Over the next few weeks, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) is expected to detail the involved in the two-month grace period for overstayers.

Immigration advisors and social workers have urged to take advantage of the amnesty — stressing that once their status is cleared, they will not face any ban.

“One will not face a ban and can return to the UAE anytime they want after regularising their visa status," immigration advisor Ali Saeed Al Kaabi told

“This programme by the UAE authorities will allow violators to avoid fines and ensure that they can return to the country in the future without restrictions."

Amnesty-seekers who wish to return to the country are advised to secure a residency visa or an offer letter from a UAE company before flying out, Al Kaabi said.

“Once an overstayer is able to regularise his/her visa status, it is advisable to obtain a residency permit before leaving the country. This could make their return process smoother,” he said.

Nissar Thalangara, president of the Indian Association Sharjah, learnt more details about the amnesty scheme after meeting with Dr Omar al Owais and Maj-Gen Azeem Suwiedi from the ICP.

Thalangara said the officials had confirmed that residence visa violators would not face any ban and could return to the UAE at any time. “During the last amnesty by the UAE Government, overstayers faced a ban for a certain period of time,” he said.

The social worker also clarified that this time, there would be no designated tents or activities at immigration offices.

“Everything will be handled at approved typing centres across the UAE, making the process easier and more user-friendly compared to the last amnesty,” said Thalangara.

“Overstayers can approach approved typing centres from September 1 to collect and submit their applications,” he added.

To ensure that the community is fully informed about the amnesty, the Indian Association Sharjah is launching awareness campaigns.

“During the last amnesty, many overstayers were unaware of the initiative and were stranded in the country for years. Raising awareness is crucial to ensure that these individuals can make the best use of this opportunity to regularise their status,” said Thalangara.

The association will also set up a dedicated counter in their office to offer advice on how illegal residency can be cleared. The help desk will be open from 9 am to 6 pm daily throughout the amnesty period.

Now, there's no need to apply for travel ban to be lifted as the process will be done automatically once a case is resolved, the UAE's Ministry of Justice (MoJ) said in its latest advisory.

The required procedures to get one's travel ban removed had been slashed from nine to zero, the ministry said in a short video. Previously, clearance and some supporting documents should be submitted for the ban's cancellation — now, these are no longer necessary.

Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels.

The MoJ will immediately take action on a travel ban removal order, with the processing time cut down from one working day to just a few minutes.

The ministry said the initiative is part of the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy programme , which was launched early this year with an aim to “raise the effectiveness of federal government services by removing bureaucratic hurdles".

Both judicial authorities in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have also automated the cancellation of travel bans once pending fines are settled.
