Ten zip lines, a cliff jump, a swinging bridge, a leap of faith and countless views later - you have an experience you won’t soon forget. This three-hour outdoor adventure brings you into the heart of western North Carolina to experience the thrill of zip lines and the natural beauty of the High Country! Our groups are small, with a maximum of 10 zippers, and led by two trained Canopy Rangers who will help you get to know your other zippers and have a great experience in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. Now offering the Mountain Cat Off Road Adventure, ride in our all new electric four wheel drive vehicles on miles of trails through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Must be 14 and up for this adventure. In addition to their ziplines, Sky Valley now offers Mountain Cat Off Road Adventure Tours for a new way to experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Boone and Blowing Rock. Ride fully electric 4WD Adventure Vehicles through trails, rivers, and over bridges for a thrilling, eco-friendly ride. These vehicles were designed for accessibility, and are suitable for all skill levels and certain mobile disabilities. 

Take a 3-hour daytime zip line tour or 1.5-hour Night Flight tour. 

• Kids ages 4 & up can zip at Whistle Pig Adventure Park , located on-site at Sky Valley. Cheer kids on as they master seven zips, a bridge, and 10-foot slide out of the trees, built specifically for them. 
• The daytime zip line tour offers ten zip lines, a cliff jump, a swinging bridge and countless views. 
• Night Flight is an after-dark zip line adventure available on select weekends and includes the first five zip lines and concludes with the cliff jump. 

Zip lines serve children and adults who weigh between 70 and 250 lbs. Sky Valley's course is located on 140 acres of pristine environment, providing views of diverse flora and fauna and a beautiful waterfall. Groups are small, with a maximum of 10 zippers, and led by two trained Zip Rangers who will help you get to know your fellow zippers and have an unforgettable experience.

Sky Valley Zip Tours offers different kinds of adventures for different adventurers. They have the Canopy Tour, the Whistle Pig Adventure for kids, Mountain Cat Off Road Adventure, and the Night Flight for the bravest of adventurers.

Fly Through the Canopy!

Experience the High Country from 300 ft high as you fly along Big Mama, their heart pounding 1600 ft line! The course is located on over 140 acres in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The experience starts with an ATV ride to the course, then you go to ground school, where you learn everything you need to know about the zip lines and safety protocols. Make sure you pay attention because next you’ll be flying through the air on the zipline course. The course features a cliff jump and a swinging bridge so make sure to bring your resolve with you. 

Canopy Tour

Sky Valley Zip Tours offers the Whistle Pig Adventure Park in addition to their adult zip lines so your little ones can enjoy the thrills as well. Whistle Pig Adventure Park invites children ages 4 and up to experience seven gravity defying zip lines, a thrilling bridge, and a 20 ft. slide all through the Appalachian forest. There is plenty of room for mom and dad to hang out below and watch all the action, take pictures, and encourage their kids. First, kids are fitted for their harness and safety gear, then they get to go offroading to get to the Whistle Pig Adventure Park. Once they’re at the park they get to fly along the zip lines and have a great time testing and building their courage.

Whistle Pig Adventure

Sky Valley’s newest adventure, Mountain Cat Off Road Adventure features fully electric 4-wheel drive adventure vehicles or EAVs. The EAVs allow drivers to tackle steep inclines and rocky paths offering an exhilarating ride for adventurers of all comfort levels. Sky Valley is home to several miles of trails to explore and each tour lasts approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours and varies based on the size of the group. Participants must be 14 years of age for this adventure. The EAV tours are accessible for people with certain mobility impairments. Make sure to call ahead when reserving so the Sky Valley team can ensure the most accessible experience possible. 

Mountain Cat Off Road Adventure

Fly by night.

The High Country’s only nighttime zipline, the Night Flight takes you soaring through the sky after sunset. In addition to the regular safety gear, you are fitted with a headlamp for this adventure. The platforms are lit, but as you fly across Big Mama, the 1600 ft line, there is nothing but you, the moon, and stars. The course starts with an ATV ride to ground school where instructors go over safety and how to navigate the course in the dark. Then adventurers get to jump to the first 5 platforms and end with the cliff jump. After that there is another ATV ride back to the Zip Shack where you can discuss your flight with other adventurers. The Night Flights start after dark and vary based on sunset times.

Day or night, ages 4 to 99, Sky Valley Zip Tours has a canopy adventure for you!

Since 2012, Sky Valley Zip Tours has been delighting High Country visitors with unforgettable mountain zip line experiences. Easily accessible from Boone and Blowing Rock, but located deep in the woods down a gravel road, we offer a variety of tours to satisfy all ages and levels of thrill-seekers. Each tour begins with an ATV ride and Ground School training with our expert Zip Rangers.

Daytime Canopy Tour

– This 3-hour tour covers 10 zip lines (including the famous Big Mama), over a mile of cable, elevations up to 300 feet, a cliff jump, and 120-foot long swinging bridge.

Night Flight

– Launched in 2018, this 1.5-hour tour starts at dark on Friday and Saturday nights and covers the first half of the Canopy Tour and ends with the cliff jump, all under the light of the moon.

Whistle Pig Adventure Park

– A separate course, designed specifically for kids ages 4 and up, includes 7 zip lines, a bridge, and 20-foot slide out of the trees.

Mountain Cat Off Road   Adventures

– The recent addition of electric ATVs, better known as Mountain Cat Off Road Adventures, provides a unique opportunity for guests to silently ride through the mountains and experience the natural beauty of the rugged landscape. The 4-wheel drive electric Coyote ATVs take their riders on guided tours that will not soon be forgotten. They are accessible to guests with mobility impairments (depending on the specific condition) and are a great option for those who cannot access the trails easily or those simply looking   for a thrill. These guided ATV tours take the participants through the Sky Valley property and the scenic Pisgah National Forest and are the newest and most innovative way to get your family outdoors in the High Country.

Description

Sky Valley is a treetop zip-line adventure. Located between Boone and Blowing Rock, the property covers more than 140 acres of old-grown forest. The course includes 10 zip lines, as well as a swinging bridge over a 35-foot waterfall and a cliff jump.

The journey starts with an ATV ride through the river and up the mountain. “Ground School” is an informational session before the zip-line tour where rangers explain the equipment, give zipping instructions and allow participants to train on practice lines. Two rangers accompany each tour group.

The first three zips are warm-ups. Then comes Big Mama, a 1,600-foot zip line that’s 300 feet above the ground. That single zip takes about 40 seconds, and riders reach speeds of more than 30 miles per hour. The scenery is the star for the entire tour. Riders zip over and through trees while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

Sky Valley is appropriate for beginners and experienced zip-liners. The tours are great outings for families, groups of friends or company retreats. Kids must be 10 years old to participate, and riders must weigh between 70 and 250 pounds. Those younger than 18 must have the signature of a parent or guardian. The tour takes about two-and-a-half to three hours to complete.

A photographer accompanies each tour to capture memorable moments. Closed-toe shoes are required. Tours run rain or shine, so rain jackets are recommended. It’s chillier in the High Country than at lower elevations, so participants should dress in layers.

Sky Valley often partners with other area attractions, such as breweries and river outfitters, so keep an eye out for packages. Advance reservations are encouraged.
