Superhumans exist, and every year they mount superbikes and race around the isle of man..

The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy event, or Isle of Man TT for short, is brutal. At speeds of up to 200mph, competitors race through 37 miles of tight country roads and quaint villages. Needless to say, just one mistake is all it takes for things to go awry, and they often do. As sports go, it’s one of the most dangerous there is. Thanks to TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 3 , however, you can have all the thrill of the event without any danger.

This third entry in the TT Isle of Man series comes courtesy of Raceward Studio, which previously made RiMS Racing . Perhaps that’s why it shakes the formula up a little. Now on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles for the first time, TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 3 presents players with an open world to explore. And while it’s nowhere near as enjoyable to race around compared to the huge environments of other open world racers such as Forza Horizon 5 or Need for Speed Unbound , there are events and other points of interest to be discovered.

What’s neat here is that you can have two concurrent careers on the go at once – one for the Supersport class, and one for Superbike. If you’re new to the series you’re best off starting with the slower Supersport class, as it allows you to better get to grips with the game’s mechanics and features. Even then, though, you’ll quickly discover that TT Isle of Man – Ride of the Edge 3 takes no prisoners. Even with all the help you can get, such as the physics set to beginner and competitor AI set as low as it can go, you’re going to find yourself challenged.

There are no rewinds here, so if you mess up, you pay. With beginner physics enabled, things aren’t too bad as long as you take things cautious – but not too cautious or you might not make the podium. Step up the physics any higher and you’ll really need to up your game; if you so much as tap the brake while going around a corner or place just one wheel off-track and you’re likely to go flying. Needless to say, TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 3 isn’t the game for those who don’t have patience or the desire to be better.

For those with the drive to succeed however, there’s a lot to like about this hardcore racer. As ever, it’s got a phenomenal sense of speed, for example. Whether you opt for the chase cam or the helmet cam that convincingly puts you in the thick of the action, the world flies by at such a pace it’s hard not to be impressed. And the new career structure makes the game much more varied and interesting. On your path to the main TT event, you’ll compete in practice sessions, races, and perhaps even time trials, head to heads and more if you take the time to explore.

The points that you earn by competing in events can be used to develop your bike, improving key components over numerous levels in order to make yourself much more competitive. And when you want a break from your career, other gameplay options are available. You can create custom online racing events that you can enjoy with others, or compete in a range of seasonal events. It’s not the biggest game in the world, but there’s certainly a decent amount of content here.

Playing on PS5 for review, TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 3 sometimes looks incredible. The key word here is sometimes, though, as it’s often not all that impressive at all. Some of the scenery can be bland, and the occasional bit of overly noticeable pop-in doesn’t help. Thankfully performance is less erratic, but still not perfect. For the most part it’s solid, letting you race without any hiccups, but there are certain areas where things just aren’t quite as smooth. Hopefully they can be ironed out with a patch.

TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 3 is another solid entry in the series, which thankfully mixes things up quite a lot. It’s still not all that welcoming to beginners, and there are some minor issues that might aggravate players from time to time, but overall, fans of the sport are likely to lap this up. Fast, brutal and at times utterly beautiful, TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 3 will reward you if you put in the time and effort to master it. But approach it with recklessness and it’ll just give you road rash.

Isle of Man TT: Ride on the Edge 3 is out now. Based on the official Isle of Man TT championship, this is a very tricky game to master. Fear not though, because our TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 beginner’s guide has you covered.

Taking over from Kylotonn, Raceward Studios has put a fresh spin on the Ride on the Edge series with 200km of open roads to explore in the Isle of Man. Navigating the notorious Snaefall Mountain Course is exhilarating, but new players may find the difficulty too punishing.

If you’re new to the series, our essential TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 tips will help you get started on your way to becoming a TT champion.

There are two bike classes in Ride on the Edge 3: Supersport and Superbike. Both classes are unlocked at the start of the career, and you can also run Supersport and Superbike seasons simultaneously.

You might be tempted to start at the top with the Superbike class. But if you’re new to bike games or have never played an Isle of Man TT game before, we strongly recommend starting with the Supersport class.

These bikes are slower and easier to handle than the more powerful Superbikes, making them ideal for learning how to ride.

That said, Supersport bikes aren’t exactly slow – you’ll still hit speeds of over 150 mph on tight country roads.

Controlling the bikes in Ride on the Edge 3 takes time to master, but they feel intuitive once you get used to the handling. To help you hone your skills, there are three physics settings: beginner, intermediate and realistic.

If you’re new to bike games, start with the Beginner setting. This setting improves stability when riding over bumps, making the bike much easier to control at high speed.

To adjust the assists, enter the pause menu and go to Game Settings > General. Then change Physics Simulation Level to Beginner. Also, make sure Braking System is set to Combined and Tuck-in Method is set to Automatic.

As well as changing the physics, you can also manually alter assists on the fly. Using the d-pad, you can toggle the anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control (TC), anti-wheelie and electronic braking system (EBS) from one to three.

However, we recommend leaving these settings on the highest setting to start with. Once you feel comfortable, try applying the Intermediate physics setting and gradually turning each assist down one by one.

Controlling a bike is fundamentally different to a car. Smooth inputs are key: accelerate and brake progressively to keep the bike stable. If you’re used to driving cars in racing games, you also need to brake and turn in a lot earlier. This is because it takes extra time for the rider to physically lean into the corner.

As you exit a corner, gently apply the throttle to prevent spinning the rear wheel. Avoid braking while turning and hitting kerbs as this will unsettle the bike, causing you to fall off. If you accidentally hit a kerb, it’s possible to save it by lifting off the accelerator depending on the speed and angle you hit it.

Crashing is inevitable when you’re getting started. But practice makes perfect, so don’t be disheartened. Explore the open world between events to get a feel for the bike and practice without any pressure.

Like in RiMS Racing, every bike component can be upgraded in Ride on the Edge 3. Luckily, the upgrade system is not as complex as Raceward's previous bike game, RiMS Racing . You don’t, for example, need to worry about parts degrading over time.

Installing upgrades is crucial if you want to be competitive and have a chance of taking the Tourist Trophy crown. But before you can install new parts, you need to earn upgrade points.

These points are rewarded for completing optional events around the map such as unofficial races, head-to-head challenges and time trials.

To install upgrades, bring up the map and find the nearest inspection bay. These are highlighted as spanner icons on the map. You can either drive to the destination or hold the fast travel button to load it instantly. As you explore different areas of the map, you'll unlock more inspection bays.

Each component can be levelled up by selecting it in the service area. From here, use the shoulder buttons to browse the different upgrade levels. The higher the level, the higher the cost, so it’s worth spending time completing the optional events to earn more upgrade points.

Once you’ve earned enough points, upgrading the engine and transmission to level 2 will increase the bike’s power and acceleration. You’ll want to balance this extra power, so upgrade the brakes and suspension to improve the handling.

With over 37 miles of unforgiving roads, the Snaefall Mountain Course is one of the most challenging courses in the world. That’s because it’s not a purpose-built racetrack – it’s a road circuit that utilises public roads in the Isle of Man.

With no safety barriers, tyre walls or gravel traps, it’s a notoriously dangerous circuit, claiming the lives of hundreds of riders since the Tourist Trophy began in 1907.

Ride on the Edge 3’s detailed recreation of Snaefall Mountain is the most accurate ever seen in a video game – we’ve come a long way since Sega’s Manx TT Superbike on the Sega Saturn.

A clean lap around Snaefall Mountain takes around 20 minutes in Ride on the Edge 3, so memorising the full course takes a lot of time and patience. With a mix of tricky corners, steep elevation changes, and brutal bumps that can catch you out, Snaefall Mountain is not for the faint-hearted.

Tackling the Tourist Trophy is daunting at first, but applying the racing line assist will show you where to position the bike for corners as well as the ideal braking and acceleration points. This will help you memorise the course until the ideal racing line becomes instinctive.

To enable the racing line, go to the pause menu and select Settings > HUD Settings. Then go to Race Line and toggle it to on.

Nacon and Raceward Studios have posted their latest TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 trailer showing off a new map and open roads. Players can now enjoy the new Open Roads feature allowing riders to roam the Isle of Man and its renowned 200km roads. The official route of the Tourist Trophy has been meticulously recreated to scale, and serves as a launching pad for various activities, including Career mode, time trials, mass starts and other challenges.

Players can access new interconnected and open circuits, such as the iconic St John’s and Clypse courses, marking the first time these tracks have been available in the game. Additionally, Raceward has created fresh routes for players to venture into the island’s interior and the majestic Snaefell Mountain.

The TT Isle Of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 map has been transformed into a haven for motorcycle enthusiasts, with a plethora of points of interest waiting to be discovered. Bike racing game TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Celebrating the release of the game, publisher Nacon has released a launch trailer, which you can check out below.

TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 features what the publisher describes as the “open roads” approach. This means that players can now freely drive through and explore over 120 miles of roads on the Isle of Man. This includes the official route of the Tourist Trophy, which has been recreated in the game at a 1:1 scale.

Alongside the Tourist Trophy route, TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 will also feature other official competitions taking place at the same time on other routes, such as the St John’s and Clypse races.

The game also features quite a few customisation options for players, including gameplay customisation through various steering aids and difficulty modes. Players can also customise their bikes by improving different parts.

At launch, TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 features 25 official riders, 39 Superbike and Supersport motorcycles, 32 tracks, and 11 different types of activities. The game also features multiplayer, allowing for open or private lobbies, as well as weekly and monthly online competitions.

The game includes all the official content of the latest TT (riders, bikes, teams, course) for a unique and true-to-life experience. You are plunged into the middle of the TT as if you were there. And you will feel all the passion and tension this race generates. Whether you compete in the Supersport or Superbike class, you can ride on 32 different circuits and over 200km of roads. Simply choose one of the 38 official riders available: 21 in Superbike and 17 in Supersport. The game features easy-to-learn and intuitive riding with ultra-realistic and cutting-edge physics for the ultimate immersion and simulation quality. Many professional riders even use the game to train and learn the circuit.
