If you know the tour company Globus , you already have a baseline for understanding Cosmos , since it’s the budget-traveler-minded arm of Globus. Like its sister company, Cosmos has been around for decades: it’s been offering tours for 60 years. It has a wide range of tours around the world and a strong Europe focus.

• Special Event Tours:   Cosmos Special Event vacations focus on large celebrations in North America (think Albuquerque’s Balloon Fiesta and the Calgary Stampede). These tours offer special benefits like better access, close-up views, and behind-the-scenes experiences.

• Faith-Based Tours :   Cosmos also offers a range of Faith-Based Vacations that highlight centuries of religious history.  These Christianity-focused tours include sacred locations in the Holy Land, Italy, Spain and Portugal. 
• Cruise and Land Tours : The tour company mixes land and cruise experiences on these tours to destination pairs like the Canadian Rockies and Alaska, and Greece and the Aegean Islands.
• National Parks Tours : Cosmos has about a dozen U.S. national park focused tours. Some mix train journeys or cruises into the tour itinerary.

Cosmos tour guides receive extensive training that includes certification by the destination authority and proficiency in multiple languages. Most are from the country in which they lead tours, and all are selected for their passion for travel and their storytelling abilities. Cosmos tour directors average 20 years with the company.

In addition to the tour directors, Cosmos has a strong network of local guides, many of whom have worked with the company for years.

Inclusions/Extras

Cosmos was an early pioneer in value touring vacation travel, and focuses on turning people’s travel dreams into reality, even when a budget is tight. Cosmos gets to the lower price point by preserving experiences and finding more affordable (but still conveniently located and of good quality) hotels.  

Cosmos tours include experienced Tour Directors, pre-selected hotels, guided city sightseeing, transportation, and select meals, including breakfast each day.

Optional excursions can be purchased pre-trip.  Cosmos can also add flights to and from the tour, with schedules coordinated with the tour.  Flights include complimentary airport transfers to-and from the hotel.  And airport transfers can also be added for land-only guests.                                    

Typical Travelers

The average Cosmos traveler is in their early- to mid-50s. Guests come from a range of generally English-speaking countries, primarily U.S. but also Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Cosmos travelers are an even mix of seasoned travelers and first-timers.  The majority are couples and families, but typically 20%+ are solo travelers.

Communication 

The standard pre-trip communication is made up of five emails, including the all-important Travel Packet, with has the detailed itinerary, schedule and flight information (if flights booked through Cosmos), destination information, tips and guidelines on pre-trip requirements and preparation for the destination, and information about booking optional excursions 90 days or closer to the departure date. Vacation planners are available by phone, email and online chat six days a week.

Cosmos also has the Cosmos GO app, which provides access to all tour components, including schedules, hotels, included features, destination information, optional excursions, interactive maps and more.  This access is provided pre-trip, 30-40 days prior to departure.

Loyalty Program

The Globus family of brands (Cosmos, along with Globus and Avalon River Cruises) offers a Welcome Back Credit loyalty program. Each trip earns guests up to $250 credit to use on a future trip with any of the brands. 

The per-person credit is based on the tour price:

• $2,499 or Less =   $100 credit
• $2,500 – $3,499 = $150 credit
• $3,500 – $4,499 = $200 credit
• $4,500 & Over =   $250 credit

Guests have two years to book/deposit a vacation using the credit. 

Private Options

Any Cosmos Europe tour can be converted into a Private Tour for between one and 24 people. There’s an additional premium, based on the overall number of guests, which is charged for each traveler in addition to the published tour price. Private tour groups get a dedicated tour director, private transportation and driver, and personal, and professional local guides, plus all of the visits and entrances in the original published itinerary. Private tours offer flexibility in both pace and experiences for you and your travel companions. We are on tour with Cosmos Tour

We are on tour with Cosmos Tour, didn't expect to jam us in this hotel of which most rooms were not clean & moldy, not only the bathroom, shower curtain too, the room also has sign of mold around air conditioning. The bed is so thin and soft, when sit on it, it just compacts almost to the bottom. Everything is so old and unmanaged; rubbish was left over. You would not dare to sit on the chair provided (old & dirty-you will argue this is an antique, so treat it with care). I wouldn't think it's a 3 star as advertised. It's a back packers rated with a little extra as the room certainly bigger than backpackers!

Scenic Switzerland by Train (6010) by Cosmos

I had been on this tour scenic switzerland by train in the month of july 2024. This tour is mainly for 65+ and Cosmos confirmed the same that most of the guests on their tours are senior citizens, They gave about half the day free for us to explore which is good but the bad part is that they do not tell us what is to be done in that time unless asked. Even after asking we do not get the options available to utilise the full day. The tour has optional paid excursions which are not attractive considering switzerland where there is lots to see and experience. If you do not opt for those excursions then no guidance is given on other options available . Ex in Lucerne and Interlaken we were informed to take a walk around and see the old town when you have Mt Titlis, Pilatus, jungfraujoch, nearby village walks etc which were not mentioned. Understand that this tour was about travelling in trains but on only 1 day we had a almost full day train journey, the rest of the days it was about 5 hours with rest of the day nothing much to do. Moreover the tour starts on day 1 at 6pm and ends on last day at 9am and both days are counted which in itinerary itself is dinner and breakfast. And in between 2 days the itinerary could be clubbed with other days to shorten this tour by 2 days. Ex dep from st moritz at 9 and arrival at Zurich at 1pm. No activity for Zurich at all. We take the tour as we trust that we are with professionals and will be guided to the best places. But with Cosmos its not that. If you are of the type who want to make the most of this tour and its free time then either go with any other tour operator or study the places where you are going in advance and then move on your own. This tour is good for those who wants a lazy, relaxing week to simply go where they take you and then have food and drinks and relax at the hotel. I made the most of this tour on my own and enjoyed NOT because of Cosmos but as I had done a thorough study of the places we are visiting and the sightseeing places plus activities over there and nearby.

A wonderful Rockies bus tour

Heather went out of her way to give us a fantastic holiday. She gave us interesting information and facilitated our friendships by rotating people together in the bus. Some of the photo stops were a bit short, but everyone was quite efficient at getting on and off the bus. Our early start made crossing the border into the US fairly quick. Highlights were the glacier, Lake Louise, Banff, Butchart Gardens, whalewatching and wildlife. Thanks Heather and Gerard!

Had a great tour with Heather…Heart of the Rockies

Had a great tour with Heather travelling across the Rockies. Heather was very organised and made sure we had the best experiences. I'm sure you see so much more with a guided bus tour rather than by train. The Athabasca glacier, Maligne canyon, Butchardt gardens and whale watching in Victoria were all great highlights. Everyone on the tour got on well together. The tour only included 1 breakfast. This suited us as we went to the local supermarket or restaurant for food.

Wonderful Rockies Tour

We had a wonderful tour of the Rockies with Heather Haskett as our tour leader and Gerard our very good driver. Heather was amazing, always happy, informative and willing to help with anything, couldn’t ask for better. The accomodation was always lovely and clean and comfortable. We would have preferred to have breakfast included each day and a meet and greet evening early on would have been good but overall it was an amazing trip with beautiful scenery everywhere you looked. Thank you Heather and Gerard.

The Rockies rock!

The tour was a joy from start to finish. Our tour director was extremely knowledgeable and kept us entertained for the entire trip, with information, history, humorous "anecdotes" and music to suit. More a friend than tour guide. I'd love to give the tour more than 5 stars for that reason. As far as the venues, photo stops and refreshment breaks and additional excursions are concerned...it's the Rockies! I need say no more, just don't expect modern, five star hotels.

We had a fantastic tour with Heather through the Rockies. Hither is a wealth if information & is very knowledgeable about the destinations. Heather is always happy & smiling. Nothing was a problem for her & she answered all questions & texts with a smile. She has fun with her guests. I can highly recommend Heather & you would be very fortunate to have her as your guide.

Cosmos Canadian Rockies Tour

Cosmos Canadian Rockies Tour. 10/10 for our tour guide Heather Hassett. Heather was incredibly helpful enthusiastic attentative organised accomodating and left no stone unturned on our amazing trip ensuring we made the most out of every minute and sight seeing occasion. The 🇨🇦 Rockies are incredible along with Vancouver Island. There are lots of healthy Grab n Go food options at the excellent supermarkets & Heather provides great advice on good restaurants + cafes. Dont miss the side-trips offered they are well worth it (Spirit Island, Lake Maligne, Athabasca River ‘float’). Hotels older but acceptable. Just a place to sleep as each day is packed with natures best.

Cosmos bus tour through the Rockies

Having booked through My Cruises we did the bus trip with Cosmos, which ended up being the highlight of our trip… there was an issue with our booking as we weren’t on the same bus as our friends which we booked together however this was resolved quickly…. Heather our tour guide was amazing, nothing was too hard and she gave us an unforgettable experience with our friends. Gerrard was also a great driver even helping us spot a moose. Thanks for the special memories.

Norwegian Fjords - Great tour leader shame about hotels

If I was just rating Ausra, our tour leader I’d have gone with 5/5 as she was excellent. Helpful, attentive, knowledgeable and certainly very good at her job. The 3/5 is for Cosmos and their choice of hotels - annoyingly out of town or in small villages/ towns. The rooms were a decent size but there was a running theme of overlooking building sites , car parks & walls which was poor. Definitely not made clear when I booked . Travelling alone this made me even more isolated . The evening meals which were included were well below par. Until we got to Bergen the tour was quite underwhelming. It was reassuring to hear fellow travellers share similar sentiments but a real shame to have had such a negative Cosmos experience . Not in any rush to book with them again. Thanks Ausra for your great customer service & Roman our great driver.

We had a fabulous tour director, Heather Hackett, and driver Gerard as well. Their service, good humor, attention to us all was second to none. We loved those two !! The itinerary was very good too. We liked stopping 2 nights most of the time to Enjoy a town. Cosmos and their staff are the BEST 👌

Fantastic holiday

Fantastic holiday, seeing the beautiful Rockies and spectacular towns of Banff and Jasper. Was made especially special, I have Ken and Bruce looking after us for the last 10 days. Ken was the tour director and has an exceptional knowledge of the area and customs. Bruce was an exceptional driver. You kept a safe and secure for the whole trip.

Widows beware! Bucketlisters Beware!

I saved for a year on a fixed income to take a bucket list trip to Ireland. I was booked to go on Wednesday. Cosmos/Globus booked my flights for me. They did not fly me direct, but instead sent me through Dallas. Yesterday I waited 10 hours in Dallas only to have 4 delays (3 3 hours each/American Airlines) with the final delay being the next day at 3:35 pm. I called Globus/Cosmos from the airport. They did nothing. They said you will not make the tour and said the only option was to wait for the flight and get a taxi to drive me to Northern Ireland from Dublin to catch up with them 2 days into my 9 day tour. This morning they told me, you should be glad you bought the insurance because we aren’t going to do anything for you except cancel the remaining return flights. We do not offer refunds. I will never use these companies again. My husband died 1 1/2 years ago and I was traveling solo. The claim I filed to the insurance company, this morning was for $6815 and the insurance company said they will contact me in 15-30 days. So between then and American and Globus- I still have not gotten my luggage and I’m just out all that money and I still didn’t get to go to Ireland and I spent all day for nothing. Do not use this company or you should beware! American just told me my bags are in the way to Dublin!

• Unfortunately we cannot offer you a visa application service. Whether you need a visa or not depends on your nationality and where you wish to travel. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.
• Here is an indication for which countries you might need a visa. Please contact the local embassy for help applying for visas to these places.
• For any tour departing before 23rd November 2024 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after 23rd November 2024, a minimum payment of €250 is required to confirm your booking with Cosmos. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
• Some departure dates and prices may vary and Cosmos will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
