2001 Savage Safari 450 SF - 40 Hp Honda

After being told that the only way we could have kids , was to do IVF (we did) happy 7 month old , we have also found out we are 3 months pregnant - the old fashioned way :-)

Bub No 2 is due April , so there is not a lot of chance to use it for a while. A busy time.

So I have listed my boat on Boat Sales :

Very reliable honda 40 HP motor , Trailer is practically brand new , An ideal first boat. (was my first boat) Only selling as family is rapidly expanding and I will not have time to fully enjoy. get in before summer and enjoy the bay,

Since I purchased in 2010 , I have replaced the carpet (wooden floor is , replaced the seats , and added the electronics.

The reason the trailer is new is that the guy we purchased off had it at a marina down the coast , stored in the racks. Someone nicked the original trailer and for him to sell it , he had to purchase a new one.

Boat is located on the southside of Brisbane

THE SAVAGE 450 Corroboree has a no-nonsense functional fishing layout, with tiller steer, twin bucket seats, forward and rear casting platform and a stack of storage space, making it ideal for the angler who likes hassle-free fishing.

The fully carpeted Corroboree has one of the widest gunwales in the business. It’s more like a side deck than a gunwale top, reaching nearly 30cm in places. As well as giving a super-strong look and feel to the Savage, the extra wide gunwale doubles as an all-round seat. The rolled over inside edge has no sharp corners to collide with and the support strut amidships makes it extra rigid.

Access over the stern, both from land and sea, is a breeze via the extra large twin duck boards with checkerplate tops. Support struts under the duckboards make them extra strong, while leaving the top obstacle-free for easier use. Stern handles, rear quarter transom cleats and two rod holders in trolling position finish off the stern.

The rear casting platform has three slide-out hatches which give total access to a huge storage area that would easily hold three fuel tanks if desired. Fuel tank storage ledges run across the back to keep fuel containers up off the hull.

The twin bucket seats are made from heavy-duty moulded plastic with velcroed padded inserts which are super comfortable, and which certainly look as though they’re built to last. The pivoting seats have three mounts, with the third on the back of the forward casting platform. Rear grab rails are within reach of the seats and large side pockets provide easily accessed storage for the helmsman and passenger.

The front casting platform has a single hatch to access a very large storage area that takes up the entire deck. A self-draining PVC anchor well is set into the top deck and is easily large enough to hold all the ground tackle a boat this size could need. The plastic well minimizes anchor and chain noise and prevents unsightly dings in the bow caused by anchors being dropped into the well. A split cross bollard with lock pin is situated between the well and the bowsprit. A bow roller on the end of the bowsprit finishes off a neat and functional anchoring system. A small, low profile split bow rail gives the deckie something to hang onto without being obtrusive.

The Savage Corroboree is painted to the chine and the finish throughout is spot on. The inserted gunwale rubber offers protection while looking neat and tidy and I like the way the same gunwale fender strip is used on the duckboards.

The ride in the Savage was very comfortable as we raced around Trinity Inlet in 20 knots of wind against tide. I thought at first that Dave Powell from Quay Marine, who provided the test boat, was foxing and keeping the speed just below when it would start banging, but when I took the throttle it was obvious that the Savage simply had a good ride. The handling was good enough for the boater to have no qualms about heading out wide on a calm day. We cruised at 40km/h (25mph, 22 knots) and topped out at 52 km/h (32mph, 28 knots), which is plenty fast enough for a fishing boat.

The 40hp Mercury two-stroke tiller steer was beautiful to handle, which for me is a big statement. I have an aversion to tiller steers but found this one a pleasure to drive. It felt more like a 10hp to handle – until you hit the throttle and then you knew what you had in your hand! The tiller mounted gear lever and gas assisted trim and tilt made handling the motor very easy.

The Savage 450 Corroboree will find plenty of fans in the all-round boat market, where anglers are looking for a multi-functional estuary and inshore rig that will cover a multitude of fishing options.

1) The 40hp Mercury four stroke, tiller steer, was a please to handle.

2) The large, open, clutter free layout hides a huge amount of storage space.

3) The plastic self draining anchor well prevents unsightly dings in the bow, as well as minimizing anchor and chain noise.

4) A view of the nose, showing the access hatch into the forward casting platform and the position of the front set mount.

5) The heavy duty moulded seats, with padded inserts, look very durable.

6) The three hatches making up the rear casting platform lift out to give full access right across the stern.
