Safari-Themed Baby Shower Ideas to Get Your Creative Juices Flowing!

When most people hear the term ‘safari,’ they immediately think of Africa – which is understandable because most safaris do, in fact, happen in the motherland. At least, that’s where all the best ones are.

But we don’t have to pigeonhole that experience to just Africa.

The word ‘safari’ comes from the Swahili word ‘safariya,’ which means ‘journey’ – and ‘safariya’ originates from the Arabic word ‘safara,’ which means ‘to travel.’ In essence, a safari is nothing more than a journey.

That’s why having a safari-themed baby shower makes sense. 

Ask any mother, and they’ll tell you the same thing – having a baby is life’s greatest 40-week journey, and motherhood is life’s greatest journey, period. That’s not to say it’ll be easy, but it’s definitely worth it.

So, what better way to celebrate than with a safari-themed baby shower? 

Putting Together the Best Safari-Themed Baby Shower

Aafari-themed baby showers promise an adventure as wild and entertaining as the journey of parenthood itself, but mothers need to be prepared to make a slew of tough decisions during the planning process. 

Starting with the color scheme.

You could go with more of a jungle or rainforest theme, which would feature a lot of green and color – maybe a waterfall or two. In Africa, this would be the equivalent of the Congo Basin in Central Africa.

Or you could go with a desert theme, which would feature a lot of dull, earthy tones – such as sand, and maybe a cacti or two. In Africa, this would be the equivalent of the Sahara, Namib, or Kalahari deserts.

Either way, a lot of the focus will be on animals. 

When it comes to a safari, the ‘ Big Five ’ game animals are the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and African buffalo – but you can also feature the giraffe, monkey, zebra, cheetah, hippo, and crocodile. 

Look at that, you’re already well on your way to a safari-themed baby shower! There’s still a lot to plan, though – so kick back, grab your handy dandy notebook, and let’s hash this out with a little checklist!

Venue & Location

The first step in planning a baby shower is finding the right venue and location. It might sound like an easy task, but there are a lot of factors to consider if you want to do right by yourself and your guests. 

For example, it needs to be big enough to fit everyone comfortably, and in a convenient location to prevent any issues with travel. Of course, it also needs to set the tone and match the overall theme.

Invitations not only provide all the necessary information about the baby shower, including the date, time, location, and RSVP details, but the design and style of the invitation can set the tone for the baby shower.

45. Use patterns like zebra stripes, leopard spots, or giraffe spots as the background of the invitations.

Tableware & Serveware

Whether you plan on offering appetizers on a snack table or serving a three-course meal in a banquet setting, the tableware and serveware you choose will play a significant role in the guest’s experience. 

For starters, make sure you have way more than what you’ll need. 

Having enough plates, cups, utensils, napkins, and serving dishes can eliminate a lot of the headache when it comes time to eat. Of course, you also want it to look nice and go with your overall theme. 

Let’s go over some tableware and serveware ideas for your safari-themed baby shower: 

35. Go to your local party store or Amazon and buy some animal print or safari-themed plates, cups, utensils, and napkins. Opt for disposable items, if possible. 

34. Instead of using plastic cutlery, buy wooden or bamboo cutlery to give a rustic and natural feel.

33. Use large tropical leaves as placemats – for both plates and serving dishes. 

32. Serve beverages in mason jars with handles. You can tie them with raffia or twine and attach a small leaf or animal tag to each for a personalized touch.

31. Scatter small items like faux leaves, wooden beads, or even little toy animals around the table, and create a fun, safari-inspired centerpiece for each table.

Like we mentioned above, you really have two options when it comes to food – go all out with a full, sit-down meal (like a brunch or dinner), or set up a table with a bounty of snacks and/or appetizers. 

I guess your third option would be to do both. 

Either way, it’s important to have some type of food, snack, or desert for your baby shower – and it even gives you an opportunity to display your creativity and play along with whatever theme you choose.

Here are some food ideas to consider for your safari-themed baby shower:  

30. For the snack table, go with animal crackers, trail mix, animal-shaped candy, tropical fruit snacks, and cheese and crackers. 

29. For the appetizers, you can serve animal-shaped sandwiches and a safari skewer (tropical fruits and varied meats or tofu).

28. For the main course, we recommend trying a Braii-inspired barbecue, Moroccan Tagine, East African Pilau, or an Ethiopian Doro Wat – if you want to do the culture justice. 

27. For dessert, serve animal print cupcakes or cookies, safari-themed cake pops, tropical parfaits, or an African Malva Pudding. 

26. Create a platter of dips that resemble the colors of the savannah—hummus for the sand, spinach dip for foliage, and a red pepper dip for sunset hues. 

In a perfect world, I would recommend having a small snack table for when guests arrive, a small meal about halfway through to keep guests happy, and some kind of a dessert to top things off at the end. 

Drinks & Beverages

Alright, we’ve taken care of the hunger, but now we have to quench that thirst. Since everyone has their own preference with drinks, we recommend serving a variety of light, easy, and popular beverages. 

Lemonade, iced tea, water, soda, punch, juice – any of these will do. 

And just because the expecting mama can’t drink alcohol, doesn’t mean you can’t serve it to guests. If that’s the route you go, try to avoid hard alcohol and opt for wine, spritzers, Champagne, and mimosas.

Let’s take a look at some drink ideas to consider for your safari-themed baby shower: 

25. Blend tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, and papaya with coconut water and a splash of lime juice for a tasty jungle juice. Serve in a punch bowl.

24. If you go with lemonade, add food coloring to make it blue or pink (or both, if you don’t know the gender).

23. Offer a variety of infused waters to keep guests hydrated. You can use combinations like cucumber-mint, lemon-basil, or orange-rosemary. 

22. If you plan on handing out water in plastic bottles, design a customized water bottle label and replace it with the one already on it. 

21. For alcoholic beverages, offer wines from South Africa’s Cape Winelands or go with a mango-flavored mimosa.

Having a designated gift table gives guests a specified place to leave their gifts as they arrive, which helps keep the baby shower organized and ensures gifts aren’t misplaced or left in an inconvenient spot.

Whether you plan on opening them during or after the event, all your gifts willl be in one place. 

And while a guest book isn’t necessary, it makes for a great memento for your special day. You can store it in your baby’s nursery as a decoration and continue to cherish it as your child grows and develops. 

Here are a few gift table and guest book ideas for your safari-themed baby shower: 

20. Create a wooden sign that reads, “Gift Drop-Off” and style it with foliage and animals.

They act as the perfect ice-breaker for those who have never met before, and they help keep guests entertained throughout the entirety of the baby shower – no matter how corny and silly the games are. 

Here are some of our favorite games and activities for your safari-themed baby shower: 

15. Set up a jar in the middle of a table and fill it with animal crackers. Have guests guess how many animal crackers are in the jar for a door prize.

14. Provide plain safari hats and various decorations like ribbons, stickers, and patches. Guests can decorate their hats and wear them during the shower.

13. Set up a large canvas or paper wall mural and invite guests to add to a jungle scene throughout the shower. 

12. Create a list of animals and have guests guess the gestation period for each – or have them write down what the babies are called (for example, a baby elephant is called a calf).

Handing out party favors at a baby shower is not absolutely necessary, but they’re a great way to thank your guests for celebrating the special day with you – and, of course, thank them for the gifts and support. 

They can also double as a keepsake for those who show up. 

Just like decorations and themed food, party favors can contribute to the festive atmosphere of the event. You can also use them as gifts for those exciting games and activities you have planned for the guests. 

Let’s take a look at some of our favorite party favor ideas for a safari-themed baby shower: 

10. Give out mini succulents or cacti in small pots that have animal prints or are shaped like safari animals. 

9. Distribute handmade soaps infused with safari-inspired scents like sandalwood, coconut, or shea butter.

8. Give them a goodie bag filled with beautifully decorated cookies shaped and painted like various jungle animals.

7. Offer candles that have scents inspired by the savannah and rainforest, such as acacia, rain, or grassland.

If not communicated clearly, a dress code can lead to confusion about what is appropriate or expected, which might make some guests uncomfortable. It’s best to encourage a dress code, but don’t enforce it.

5. Go with a pure safari theme, fit with khaki pants, vests, safari hats, and hiking shoes.

How To Throw A Safari-Themed Baby Shower

Welcome to the jungle!

There’s a lot of hard work that goes into planning the perfect baby shower . Not only do you have to find a great venue and work on a guest list that everyone will be happy with, but you also have to come up with the right theme, and then stick to it... with everything. A safari- themed baby shower is a really fun idea for the mama-to-be who loves nature or animals (or both), and is even more perfect if the parents are going to be doing a safari theme for their little one’s nursery.

To throw a safari-themed baby shower that feels Pinterest-worthy, you’ll need to put a lot of thought into every little detail. I recently threw my daughter a safari-themed birthday party (2 Wild!), so I consider myself something of an expert here, OK? The good news is that the safari theme is a popular one, so there are tons of cute options out there to choose from, whether you’re looking for the best invitations, the most creative food selections, or the most fun decorations. Check out the ideas below to get started.

Safari Baby Shower Invitations

Invitations are the first step in your party planning. Picking an on-theme invitation is important because it shows everyone exactly what to expect and sets the mood. You have some options on how to go about this:

• Opt for a calligrapher . If you have the budget for it, hire a calligrapher or similar professional to make your invitations for you. This gives you the ability to help them create a totally customized invitation, and they will typically also write out the envelopes as well, so all you have to do is put them together and send them out. Keep in mind that this is the most expensive option.
• Order invitations online. Not into the custom idea? There are tons of sites online you can order invites from, and they range from very inexpensive to more premium, depending on what you’re looking for. I personally love Minted because the prices are reasonable, and they will also address your envelopes for no extra charge.
• Go the Etsy route. For an even cheaper option and something that feels more unique, look for invites on Etsy . Lots of artists make the most adorable invitations, and many of them offer the ability to download them as a PDF for a flat rate (this is usually less than $10). From there, you can get them printed at a store like Staples and send them out yourself, or print them at home.
• Do e-vites! Evites are super easy, inexpensive (or even free), convenient, and the most sustainable option. A lot of my friends use Evite.com and it works out really well. This is also the easiest way to keep track of RSVPs.

Safari Baby Shower Centerpieces

Get creative and DIY your own centerpieces or buy them already made. Here are some ideas to take inspiration from:

A Sand-Filled Glass Jar

Buy some glass jars, sand, fake palm leaves, and gold jungle animals (like these from Etsy ). Fill the bottoms of the tall jars with sand, throw some animals in there, and add some leaves. It looks both cute and sophisticated.

Mini Diaper Cakes

These mini diaper cakes work double duty as a fun centerpiece idea and as a gift for the mama-to-be — they can unravel them and use the diapers when baby gets here. Buy them from Etsy or craft them yourself.

Palm trees are perfect for a jungle-themed party. These don’t require much else at all and they’re super easy since they don’t require any DIY.

Palm Leaves Bouquet

For something slightly more chic, get some artificial monstera leaves and put them in a slim white vase. This is simple and feels more elegant and less cutesy.

Safari Baby Shower Balloons

Balloons are an easy and relatively inexpensive way to make any room or backyard look more festive and on theme. You can either buy balloons online and blow them up yourself (just be sure to look into helium machines), or you can order them from a party store near you. I love the animal print balloons that I used at my daughter’s party (linked below), and it’s also a cute idea to get some animal-shaped ones as well. A balloon arch is always fun, and while they can take a while, they’re worth it for the photos. Or you can hire someone to make them for you!

Safari Baby Shower Signs

Signs are a cute decoration for the entrance into whatever room or venue you’re using, and they’re also fun to scatter along the various food and gift tables. Banners are also a great idea to add below a balloon arch or draped from a table.

Safari Baby Shower Decorations

You can also scatter some other decorations around the room. Think baby blocks with a safari theme (bonus points if they can be used as nursery room decor later on), small items like hand-held fans to place at the tables, or diaper cakes that are on-theme.

You obviously need to have a great spot for photos for social media! This is so fun for making memories and capturing images of your guests that you’ll want later on. You can do a sign with your name and date, or something a bit more general, like leafy greens that can easily be reused for photos or an event later on.

This is a baby shower, so of course you have to have games, no matter how corny it might seem. You can keep games on theme with cute decorations that go along with them. Some cute ideas: put animal crackers in a jar and get people to guess how many, match the Disney animals to their parents, and do a jungle Price is Right. You can also rely on classics like advice cards, diaper raffles, and bingo.

If the baby shower is being held at someone’s home or in an outdoor venue that requires you to provide utensils and plates and all of that, then you’ll need to have paper goods on hand. And sure, you could opt for a solid color for everything, and that’s totally fine. But it’s a little more fun to stay on theme. A small favor is expected at something like a baby shower, and they can be fun to pick out. Safari Animal Pretzel Sticks

Inspired by an image on Pinterest , I *painstakingly* made these pretzel sticks for my daughter’s safari party, and they were a hit. I chose to do tiger stripes, cheetah/leopard print, and zebra print. It’s simple, but time-consuming: dip pretzels in melted chocolate (I found orange, salted caramel, and white chocolate at the craft store near me), then add the design using melted dark or milk chocolate. I used a toothpick to create these designs, and yes, it took about as long as it sounds like it would. But I think they came out so fun! And, bonus: these also work as a good edible favor.

Monkey, Lion, & Tiger Cupcakes

Inspired by the recipes for jungle cupcakes on Chelsea’s Messy Apron , I made these lion, tiger, and monkey cupcakes. These were not as hard as they seem — I’m not a professional by any means and had no trouble doing these with my mom and aunt. They’re a little time-consuming, but completely worth it, because they were adorable — and delicious. I chose cupcakes instead of cake, but you can do both.

Chic Safari Cake Pops

You can buy these chic gold safari theme cake pops from Etsy , or you can make them yourself. These definitely look like a professional is necessary, so I recommend buying them if you’re not a pro at this kind of thing.

Jungle Theme Rice Krispie Treats

Another item you can buy from Etsy or make yourself is these jungle-themed Rice Krispie treats. You would decorate them with melted chocolate, which seems relatively simple, if not a little time-consuming. These are another item that look so cute on the dessert table, or can easily be wrapped up and sent off as edible party favors.

Jungle Cookies

Custom decorated cookies like these are always a popular option. They taste good and look so amazing. You can buy these from Etsy , or you can try creating them yourself. This palm leaf and animal set is adorable, but the options here are really endless.

13 of the Cutest Baby Animals to See on Safari

The Serengeti is a safari destination that is a magnificent experience any time of the year, but it’s in February when nearly all of the animals have babies. Between the Great Migration on the Serengeti Plains and all the adorable babies, a luxury safari in Tanzania with SkySafari by Elewana is a bucket list trip that will definitely top the list of best trips you’ve ever been on. We’ve seen things on safari that put the circle of life into perspective like hyenas hunting wildebeest, lions feasting on their morning kill and an elephant that died from a wound likely inflicted by poachers. While those things are a sad reality, we’ve also seen the cutest baby animals that just absolutely melt your heart. There are 13 of the cutest baby animals to see on safari:

1. Lion cubs

Lionesses will give birth to a litter of one – four cubs and we were lucky to find this litter of four (though you can only spot three in the photo).

2. Elephant calf

Elephants only get pregnant once about every five years and the gestation period is 22 months. Elephant calves are quite small! Our guides estimated this cutie was around eight or nine months old.

3. Giraffe calf

Giraffe calves are born already around six feet tall! Though after seeing full grown giraffes, it’s pretty easy to spot a youngster even when they’re on their own. Sadly, we learned that giraffes aren’t very good parents and will leave their babies own their own while traveling several kilometers away.

4. Baboon infant

Baboon infants hang on to their mother’s stomach for the first month and then at five or six weeks old, start riding on their mother’s back. This cute little fella (boy parts definitely indicated he was a fella) was less than a month old! We were lucky to spot him playing very close to the road, though he scampered over to hold on to mom as soon as we stopped.

5. Wildebeest calf

Wildebeest calves can stand within just a few minutes of being born and can run with the herd within an hour after birth. We saw a few young calves as the Great Migration moved from the Serengeti Plains south to Ngorongoro Crater, where the wildebeest will birth their calves in the short grass plains.

6. Cape buffalo calf

Cape buffalo calves are completely dependent on their mothers for their first year. The females will stay with and join the natural herd. We saw mostly male herds, but did spot some calves in a female herd we came across.

7. Hippo calf

Hippo calves are born in the water and can hold their breath for nearly three times as long as an adult hippo. Hippos spend around 16 hours each day in the water, so babies are a little hard to spot. We got lucky to spot a baby out of the water at Ngorongoro Crater.

8. Warthog piglet

Warthog moms only have four teats and piglets each suckle from their “own”. No sharing! When warthogs run, their tail sticks straight up and the piglets run in a line behind mom. Though I hope they weren’t running from a predator, they are too cute in running mode.

9. Zebra foal

Zebra foals are actually born brown and white and with a thicker coat. They look fuzzy, which makes them all the more adorable. Like wildebeest, zebras have their babies just before the long rains begin in February. We saw quite a few baby zebras at Ngorongoro Crater.

10. Thompson gazelle fawn

Thompson gazelles are really small with an adult standing at only around 2 – 3 feet tall. Females move away from the herd to birth a single fawn and the fawn will spend most of its time resting and hiding in the grass. It’s not very common to spot a fawn, so we were particularly lucky to see this little fawn with its mom on the short grass plains at Ngorongoro Crater during the Great Migration.

Hyrax live in families of up to 50 and are sort of look like a rabbit without long ears and cotton tails that can climb. The babies all snuggle up with mom when they nap and we were quite amused watching the resident hyrax families at Serengeti Migration Camp.

12. Crocodile hatchling

Crocodiles lay around 50 eggs and bury them in the sand on the riverbank. Of the 50 eggs, only one or two hatchlings actually survive. This little guy was sunning himself right next to mom in the Serengeti.

13. Monkey infant

Like baboons, monkey infants clutch their arms around mom and hitch a ride on their belly. Because the mom and dad are so protective of their youngsters, baby monkeys can be hard to spot. Like all kids, they like to play and you might spot them chasing each other around. As soon as the parents spot you watching though, they grab up their babies and hold on to them protectively.

When I went on safari in Selous Tanzania for honeymoon, the lion cubs were playing hide and seek so I’d love to try and catch them next time – I absolutely loved baby hippos though – so cute!

That baby elephant had to be the happiest elephant I’ve ever seen! Elephants were definitely a favorite to watch, especially when they play in water holes. We’ll have a post coming on a herd having some serious fun in a water hole.

From Lissa to Alissa: Lion Country Safari's 40th rhino calf honors one the park mourns

Alissa, the 40th white rhino born at lion country safari, was named to honor lissa, who beat horn cancer and died this summer at the age of 43..

LOXAHATCHEE — Two weeks ago, the staff at Lion Country Safari mourned the death of Lissa, one of the first white rhinoceroses born in the park. Two days later, it greeted a new member to the herd , with a name that honors the rhino they lost.

The staff last week welcomed Alissa, a female southern white rhinoceros and the 40th calf born at Lion Country Safari . It's a major milestone for the Loxahatchee animal park, which aims to protect the critically endangered species. 

Haley McCann, a park spokesperson, said the staff named the calf after Lissa, who beat a rare horn cancer and garnered the affection of animal lovers around the country before dying last month at the age of 43 on Aug. 17. 

"It was right after a major loss for us," McCann said. "There was absolutely no question that we are going to find a way to name this baby in honor of Lissa, who truly was so extraordinary and meant so much to us. We really wanted to see how we could carry on that legacy into this new offspring."

Visitors to Lion Country Safari can see mother, baby rhinos

Anna, a 10-year-old rhino, gave birth to Alissa on Aug. 19, after a 16-month gestation period. Baby rhinos weigh between 80 to 130 pounds and are expected to gain about 1,000 pounds a year for the first three years.

McCann said Anna and Alissa are spending quality time bonding together in a maternity area, which is visible to guests from their cars in the drive-through safari.

Lion Country Safari opened in 1967 and saw its first white rhino birth in 1979. It is now home to 14 white rhinos, 12 females and two males.

The two-horned rhinos are native to Africa, where they usually perish due to poaching. The critically endangered species is slowly making a comeback under human care after conservationists thought it had gone extinct in the late 1990s.

McCann said the rhinos are still illegally hunted in the wild for their horns, which some cultures value for medicinal properties they presume the horns have and as a status symbol.

"As much as we contribute to trying to help save animals in the wild, they are still facing threats," McCann said. "This is our lifeboat population."

'Every single birth is significant': Why Lion Country Safari zoo raises rhinos

Lion Country Safari is part of the White Rhinoceros Species Survival Plan, a national program by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the American Institute of Rhinoceros Science research program. The program aims to improve care for the species to ensure there are healthy, genetically viable populations under human care for at least 100 years.

McCann said the milestone demonstrates the park's long history of breeding success and its impact on conservation success for the species.

"Every single birth is significant," McCann said. "We've had so many rhino babies that are continuing the genetic line and family line and helping to ensure the survival of the species."

With the 2024 Vikings season approaching, it's time to make some bold predictions. By design, these will be things that are unlikely to come true. If I get even one of them right, I'll be pleased. But make no mistake — with each one, I can squint and see the path to it occurring. I'm not just throwing these out there without any sort of reasoning. Alright, that's enough introduction. Let's dive in.

1. Aaron Jones sets career high in yards from scrimmage after turning 30

Back in 2019, in his third season with the Packers, Aaron Jones racked up 1,558 yards from scrimmage, finishing eighth in the league in that category. I'm here to tell you that in 2024, he has a chance to top that mark and set a new career high.

Jones has the talent and track record to do it. He had over 1,450 yards in both 2020 and 2022 as well, and he finished last year averaging 130.6 yards over Green Bay's final five games of the season (regular and playoffs). In his seven-year career, he's averaged an even 5.0 yards per carry and 7.6 yards per reception. He's also joining a Minnesota offense that, when fully healthy, is full of pass-catching weapons (Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson) defenses must respect.

The reason this is a bold prediction is that Jones turns 30 in December and missed a chunk of last season due to injury. Plus, as excited as the Vikings are to have added Jones to their offense , they're also going to use Ty Chandler plenty in the backfield to keep the veteran fresh. He's not going to be an every-down workhorse.

But Jones was never an every-down guy with the Packers either, whether it was Jamaal Williams or A.J. Dillon as the other back. He gets his yardage through efficiency and explosiveness. If he stays healthy for all 17 games — which is key to this prediction — he'd need to average just under 92 yards to get to 1,559. He can realistically do that on 16-18 touches per game, which feels like a good number for the Vikings.

Even at age 29, Jones has looked exceptionally quick and shifty throughout training camp. I'm expecting Kevin O'Connell to lean on the running game to take pressure off of Sam Darnold — and for Darnold to dump the ball off to Jones quite a bit.

2. Brian Flores' defense climbs into top 6 in DVOA in year two

Last year, defensive coordinator Brian Flores showed up in Minnesota and engineered quite a turnaround. Despite the team moving on from key veterans like Eric Kendricks, Dalvin Tomlinson, Patrick Peterson, and Za'Darius Smith, Flores brought a Vikings defense that was 24th in DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) in 2022 to the 11th-best mark in 2023.

The Vikings struggled a bit early on and then fell off down the stretch due to some injuries, but from Week 5 through Week 14, they were the second-best defense in the NFL by opponent EPA per play. Flores and his unique scheme blitzed more than any other team in the league and got career years out of players up and down the roster.

I think the Vikings' defense has a real chance to be even better in 2024. Let's say they'll go from 11th into the top six in DVOA this year. And yes, that's after losing Danielle Hunter, who was their defensive MVP and only Pro Bowler last season.

Flores' system should be even further developed in year two. Returning players have that much more comfort in the complexity of their roles. And I legitimately believe the Vikings upgraded by replacing Hunter, D.J. Wonnum, and Jordan Hicks with Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Blake Cashman. On top of that, you've got the additions of Shaq Griffin, Dallas Turner, and Stephon Gilmore to round things out.

This defense is loaded with experience, versatility, and playmaking at all three levels. Flores has all the pieces he needs to cook up an elite unit. It's also worth noting that DVOA factors in opponents, so this prediction is doable even against a difficult schedule of opposing offenses.

3. Will Reichard breaks franchise records for made field goals and longest field goal

Let the record show that I am not attempting to jinx anything here. I simply can't get over how impressive Vikings rookie kicker Will Reichard has been throughout training camp. The sixth-rounder from Alabama, who left college as the NCAA's all-time leading scorer, has been basically automatic. He also has leg strength beyond what I had any idea he possessed, routinely drilling field goals from 55 or more yards with plenty of room to spare.

I'm going to predict that Reichard breaks two Vikings franchise records in his rookie year. The record for field goals made in a single season is 35, set by Gary Anderson in 1998 and matched by...sixth-round rookie Blair Walsh in 2012 (and those were in 16-game seasons). To get to 36 makes, Reichard just has to make around 2.1 field goals per game across 17 contests. He should get plenty of kicking opportunities on an offense that projects as a decent one if Darnold plays well.

I'm also going to say Reichard breaks the record for the longest field goal in franchise history, which was set by Greg Joseph with his 61-yard game-winner against the Giants on Christmas Eve 2022. Based on what I've seen on the practice field, I think O'Connell will trust Reichard enough to give him at least an opportunity or two from 62 or beyond this season, most likely at the end of a half or game.

And the baby-faced assassin from Alabama is going to drill it through the uprights.

4. Vikings quarterbacks combine for 30 interceptions

Let's end with our first one that O'Connell wouldn't be pleased with. In the wake of J.J. McCarthy's season-ending meniscus surgery, the Vikings' quarterbacks this year are Sam Darnold and Nick Mullens, for better or for worse. Quite frankly, that could lead to a bunch of interceptions.

Darnold has 56 picks in 56 career starts. He has a big arm and some upside in O'Connell's system, but he's also thrown his fair share of INTs over the course of training camp. And if he struggles, the Vikings' choices are to stick with him or go to Mullens, who has 31 picks in 20 career starts (including 8 in 3 starts last December). I think Darnold has a chance to be a supercharged version of what Mullens was late last season: A guy who throws for a bunch of yards and touchdowns but also a bunch of interceptions.

The prediction here is that the duo reaches the 30-pick mark. Only the 2009 Lions (rookie Stafford), the 2019 Buccaneers (Jameis), and the 2005 Packers (Favre) have done that in the last 20 seasons. If this one happens, O'Connell's going to have some gray hairs before the year ends.

Social media users chimed in to request Wilson “let [his wife] breathe,” “slow down” and “leave her uterus alone please.”

Another agreed, “Stay off that lady. we tryna get an album and a tour. You better go look at some baby photos in a tub of ice 😭.”

Others, however, celebrated the possibility of their expanding family and gushed, “The rate you’re going, you’ll have a football team.”

“You sound like Russ,” the Grammy winner joked. “Don’t get ahead of yourself. Let’s take it one baby at a time.”

She did, however, gush over the quarterback’s parenting skills, labeling him an “incredible father” to their little ones.

“Observing him with all our children is truly heartwarming,” Ciara added at the time. “It’s not just heartwarming; it’s incredibly attractive, if I may be candid.”

Pat mcafee was ‘chugging beers’ during wild live show at ireland pub: ‘we’re already drunk’.

Pat McAfee may have had a bit too much to drink live on ESPN’s airwaves on Friday. 

McAfee and his crew held their show at a pub in Ireland ahead of Saturday’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic between Florida State and Georgia Tech.

Things went off the rails, to say the least. 

Within minutes of the show’s start, McAfee was pounding a Guinness 

“We came to Ireland to have some fun,” McAfee chanted before throwing down a beer. “We’re chugging beers, we’re already drunk. American football has become a dream. Everybody in here is a part of our team.”

At one point, McAfee got up and did an Irish dance with the wife of Nick Saban, “Miss Terry,” who appeared on the show on Friday. 

In a moment of clarity, McAfee quipped, “We should not be on TV right now.”

After an appearance from ex-Florida State quarterback and current Jet Jordan Travis, the drinking would continue, and McAfee made an announcement to his friend Sheamus, a professional wrestler who was handling bartending duties at J.R. Mahon’s Pub, and the rest of the crowd.

“I just want to let everybody know, I almost puked just a few moments ago,” McAfee admitted. “Sheamus, I put you to bed last night, but it feels right now I’m in a bad spot.”

After declaring he was “maybe 10 beers deep,” a bleary-eyed McAfee attempted to wrap up the show before ESPN’s live portion switched over to SportsCenter. 

“If, uh, I was who I was as a very honest person, I’m s—faced right now,” McAfee said, according to The Big Lead . “I don’t know how we were supposed to have a show in Ireland without this happening, but I would like to let everybody know …”

The party would continue at J.R. Mahon’s after they got off the Worldwide Leader’s airwaves, as Sheamus got on top of the bar chanting “You’ll Never Beat the Irish.”
