This tour truly bridged the East and West, revealing the unique, yet similar aspects of these two fascinating countries.

Our journey through Armenia and Georgia was an exceptional exploration of rich history and culture. The deep historical roots of these countries were evident as we wandered through Tbilisi’s lively streets and visited Mtskheta, the heart of Georgia’s religious heritage. Discovering the Georgian wine region in Kakheti and savoring the local wines was an unforgettable experience, connecting us to centuries of winemaking tradition.

In Armenia, we were captivated by the ancient charm of Yerevan and the majestic beauty of Lake Sevan. The historical sites and the unique architecture told stories of a nation with a profound legacy.

Both countries offered incredible cuisine, from Georgian khachapuri and khinkali to Armenian dolma. The flavors and dishes were a delicious reflection of their rich cultural backgrounds.

Emily Johnson

Our tour through Armenia and Georgia was a fantastic experience! We loved exploring the vibrant city of Tbilisi and the historical charm of Mtskheta. The visit to the Kakheti wine region and tasting the renowned Georgian wine was a real treat. The trip up to Gergeti Church offered breathtaking views of Mount Kazbek that we’ll never forget.  In Armenia, strolling through Yerevan and admiring its architectural gems was delightful. Lake Sevan, with its majestic beauty, was a highlight of the trip. The combination of ancient sites, modern cities, and warm hospitality made our journey unforgettable. We appreciated the well-planned itinerary and the chance to experience the best of both nations. In Armenia, we had Thank you for an amazing adventure!

John Williams

Thank you once again, Team Arara for the wonderful holiday. We need to note that these 2 countries were very amazingly hospitable countries. We really think plan new tour with Arara in once, because that region. They have very tasty cuisine, which you never can taste in another country. We never forget the taste of Armenian and Georgian meals. And you can not imagine how much we are impressed by the sights and how sorry we are that those countries do not have even more visitors from our country. My wife and I are talking about those beautiful countries and your tour company in our country and definitely recommend visiting at least once.

Georgia and Armenia tour

Description

Accommodation, price options, private tour of georgia and armenia.

Combining two countries when traveling abroad as a tourist is always a great idea. If your planned destinations are Georgia and Armenia – search no further and take a closer look at our tour program. It’s fascinating how these two neighbouring countries are so different from each other, how diverse their history, culture and traditions are. Both Georgia and Armenia are often called as “lands where it all began” – meaning that here you will learn a lot about things that are “the very first” on Earth, or “the oldest” that exist. Unique alphabets that are being not only kept but actually used and that are completely different from each other; winemaking traditions that are of proven 8 millennial record; ancient monuments and UNESCO World Heritage List sites literally on every corner. This Georgia and Armenia private tour package based on the itinerary that’s been proven to be the most efficient and the best in terms of time spent touring versus time spent on the road balance.

See other South Caucasus tour options here

Day 1: arrival in tbilisi (georgia).

Our representative will meet you in the airport and arrange for hotel transfer. Check-in after 2pm.

Day 2: Tbilisi city tour (Georgia)

Georgian capital city for many centuries of its existence was a place where people of all faiths, cultural and national backgrounds used to live together, making Tbilisi a contemporary metropolis filled with history and atmosphere of the rich and great past. Your South Caucasus travel will continue this day with the tour of old Tbilisi: at the Metekhi church and King Vakhtang monument you will listen to the Tbilisi founding legend, continue by cable car to ancient Narikala fortress, walk down to the “Legvtakhevi” (fig) gorge and Tbilisi waterfall, passing by the church and mosque. Tbilisi flea market experience will be followed by stroll through the renovated pedestrian alley and part of the “New Tiflis” major renovation project of Georgian capital. And to make this day special – traditional Georgian welcome dinner will be attended. Transfer to hotel.

Day 3: Tour to Kazbegi (Georgia)

Tour to Georgia would not be complete without a journey to Kazbegi, a small town close to the border with Russia. The tour itinerary for this day will start with the Jvari monastery, architectural gem of the Caucasus, located on top of the hill overlooking major Georgian highlights – its old capital town Mtskheta; famous two rivers merging point where Mtkvari river meets river Aragvi; and transport highway entering Tbilisi. Another site worth making a stop on the way is Ananuri fortress – established in XVI century as a residence for local Dukes of Aragvi the complex is still a place that impresses all those passing by with its nobility and greatness. Other attractions en route include exciting view of two small mountain rivers making one, and flowing side by side without mixing their colors for quite a distance; also a picturesque mountain landscape viewpoint followed by the “Cross” pass. Arrive in Kazbegi, change a vehicle for 4-wheel-drive cars to get to Gergeti Holy Trinity church, nestled on top of one of the highest hills at 2170 meters above sea level. Drive to mountain resort Gudauri for overnight. Transfer to hotel.

Day 4: Tour to Uplistsikhe and Mtskheta (Georgia)

After breakfast in the hotel start driving back towards Tbilisi with the stops in Uplistsikhe and Mtskheta on the way. From Gudauri in about 2-hour drive the group will arrive to the cave town Uplistsikhe – the magnificent remains of an ancient pagan settlement where all the houses used to be carved inside the rocks. Continue your Caucasus tours’ Georgian part by visiting a local family’s private wine cellar for house wine tasting and homemade lunch. After lunch arrive to Mtskheta, old capital town of ancient Georgia and one of the most important historical cities of the country. Visit the old town and its principal sight – Svetitskhoveli monastery. The name of the monastery means “living pillar” and it is widely believed that the place is a burial site of Jesus Christ’s mantle. Being one of the principal churches in Georgia, the monastery is also one of the most revered places in Caucasus. Transfer to Tbilisi.

Day 5: Tour to Kakheti (Georgia)

In the morning before drive to the region of Kakheti famous for its ancient winemaking traditions. Numerous vineyards as well as both big and small wine producing facilities are biggest landmarks of the region. Major highlight of the day is a wine tour and wine tasting at unique wine cellar “Gvirabi” (tunnel) by winemaking company “Khareba”, set inside the tunnel excavated in the XX century deep into the Caucasus mountain range. Next stop before driving to capital city Tbilisi will be the town called Sighnaghi, labeled recently as a “city of love”, mostly for the fact that one can register there their marriage 24/7. Previously a royal residence, Sighnaghi still surrounded by ancient city walls and currently one of the most popular travel destinations in Georgia. Return back to Tbilisi.

Day 6: Tour from Tbilisi to Yerevan (Armenia)

Check-out from your Tbilisi hotel in the morning and depart towards the border between Georgia and Armenia (about 1.5-hour drive). On the other side, you will be met by local guide and driver to start touring the second destination country with this tour – Armenia.

The first Armenian site to visit is Haghpat monastery, the X century architectural monument and UNESCO World Heritage list member, in the region of Lori. The next attraction of the tour is what is called a Jewel of Armenia – lake Sevan, the largest freshwater alpine lake in Caucasus and Eurasian region. Total surface area of the lake is 1900 square miles which comprises a sixth part of Armenia. Arrive to Sevanavank (Sevan monastery), ancient monastic complex which beautifully set in one of the coasts of lake Sevan and features two major churches – Surp Arakelots (Holy Apostles) and Surp Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God), founded in the year of 847 by Princess Mariam. Another distinguishing feature of the site is a magnificent view that surrounds the place – snowy mountains everywhere your eyes could see.

Arrive in Yerevan, check-in to hotel.

Day 7: Yerevan city tour (Armenia)

Sightseeing tour of Armenian capital is yet another exciting day of your travel to the South Caucasus. You will see how different it is from two previous capitals, especially with its colors – Yerevan has a distinguished color in its basic architecture (spoiler: it’s pink!). This city tour will start with probably the most adventurous part – Cascade Monument. Interesting fact about this place is that it has 2780 stairs to walk up, exactly the number of years Yerevan has celebrated recently. Walking up these stairs does have its reward – a fascinating view over the city, with gorgeous Ararat mountain, central square of Republic, major city avenue and beautiful Opera theatre building – all in a magic full view. And, as usual, the city tour of Armenian capital will complete with the national cuisine dinner and traditional folklore show. Transfer to hotel.

Day 8: Tour to Garni, Geghard and Etchmiadzin (Armenia)

Continue your Georgia and Armenia tour with a following program:

In the morning leave Yerevan for the Armenian village called Garni with its principal highlight – ancient pagan fortress of the I century BC. Drive to Geghard, IV century medieval monastery partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, and yet another UNESCO World heritage list site. Continue to the see of Vagharshapat and visit the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, known as “mother-church” of the Armenian Apostolic Church and residence of the Catholicos of All Armenians. Drive back to Yerevan, transfer to hotel.

Day 9: Tour to Khor Virap, Areni, Tatev (Armenia)

The 2-day trip to Tatev in Armenia will start with the visit to Khor Virap (deep dungeon) monastery placed in the Ararat plain and used to be the residence for Armenian Catholicos. This monastery’s fame and a religious pilgrimage status came with the fact that St. Gregory the Illuminator, the Baptist of Armenia, spent 14 years here as a prisoner for disseminating Christianity. Next stop of the day tour in Armenia will be small town Areni, famous for its traditional wine made of pomegranates and apricots. Wine tour and tasting here is definitely a highlight.

Final stop for the day is IX century’s Tatev monastery itself. To get to the monastery you will be taking the longest non-stop cableway in the world (5.7 km). Views that opening to travelers are simply indescribable – you will have to see it with your own eyes. Transfer to the town of Goris for overnight.

Day 10: Tour to Noravank (Armenia)

After a lazy morning and delicious breakfast served in the hotel in Goris depart back to Yerevan. Make en route stop at the Noravank (new monastery) complex. The location of the site within the narrow gorge of Amaghu river is making you feel being in times when the monastery was founded – in 1205. Not mentioning the architectural style of the Complex itself – highly artistic monument reminiscent of the tower-like burial structures of the first years of Christianity in Armenia.

Transfer to hotel in Yerevan.

With JourneyCart, we planned honeymoon tour to Mauritius. We got a decent hotel booking by Journey Cart. The hotel serves Indian food and it's located in front of Mauritius west coast beach. Mauritius sightseeing was also planned well, with rest day after an activity day. Overall, it was a very good Mauritius experience with Journey Cart's arrangements. Mr. Abhilash Sadhale

Journey Cart helped us to make our honeymoon trip to Kerala memorable. Team helped throughout our journey answering all of our queries. Most important aspect of our journey was the driver (and his AC car) who was with us all the time - he was very kind, fluent in English and Hindi and cooperative. Hotels were of extraordinary quality. Meal (dinner and breakfast) quality was also good. I really would recommend Journey Cart to anyone who is planning to make their holidays memorable with their beloved ones. Mr. Vishal Mohan Telangre

armenia georgia tour package

Did you know that Yerevan is considered to be the oldest operating capital in the world, older than Rome and Nineveh? It celebrated its 2800th anniversary in 2018.

Matenadaran

In the morning you visit the  Matenadaran (UNESCO World’s Documentary Heritage) – Depository of Ancient Manuscripts and a serious Institute of Scientific Research on Ancient Manuscripts.

The collection of approximately 17,000 manuscripts includes almost every sphere of Armenian ancient and medieval science and culture – history, geography, philosophy, law, medicine, mathematics, miniature, and others. There are manuscripts in Arabic, Persian, Greek, Syrian, Latin, Ethiopian, Indian, Japanese, etc. Afterward, you can see the most beautiful panorama of Yerevan City and the biblical Mount Ararat from the top of the huge Cascade Monument . Cascade is just a masterpiece in terms of architecture and is decorated in a very stunning way. Inside this monument, you find the Cafesdjian Art Center. There are a lot of original statues of modern art. Not far from Cascade, you see the Mother Armenia Statue, which symbolizes “peace through strength”. Having its location on a hill overlooking Yerevan City makes her “The Guardian “of the Armenian Capital.

During your City tour, you pass through Northern Avenue  which connects the two Yerevan Famous Squares –  The Republic Square and the France Square (where the Opera House with the original statue of Rodin is located). The Republic Square in Armenia with the governmental buildings is considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in the world. At night, the square is especially beautiful because of the “Dancing Fountains” accompanied by classic music of world-known Armenian components.

Street tour including Yerevan State University and the Island of universities, Victory Bridge, Tsitsernakaberd Hill (The Swallow Castle) with Genocide Museum, Sports & Concerts complex, Kyiv Bridge, Parliament, Residence of President, Academy of Sciences.Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 04: YEREVAN – ECHMIADZIN – ZVARTNOTS – YEREVAN

armenia georgia tour package

Did you know that the Mountains of Ararat is the place named in the Book of Genesis (Bible) where Noah’s Ark came to rest after the great flood

Continue to  St. Hripsime  church (7th century), a true masterpiece of early medieval Armenian architecture. On the way back to Yerevan visit the Ruins of  Zvartnots Cathedral – the place of “celestial angels”. The remnants of Zvartnots, even in ruins, are a majestic sight. his marvelous temple is a result of the skillfulness and brave creativity of Armenian architects of the 7th century. Having been built on several columns it could survive only till the 10th century.

When researchers started the excavations at the beginning of the 20th century, many specialists could hardly accept its reconstruction model designed by famous Armenian architect Toros Toramanyan. It was difficult to believe that such a huge and complicated construction could have been built those days, and amazingly at that time one of the bas-relieves of St. Chapelle church in Paris came to prove Toramanyan’s version; the bas-relief depicts Zvartnots temple with Noah’s Ark and it looks like the model represented by the architect. Return to Yerevan. Evening free. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 05: YEREVAN – GARNI – GEGHARD – YEREVAN

armenia georgia tour package

It is said that the Holy Lance that pierced the body of Christ was kept here. The architectural forms and the decoration of Geghard’s rock premises show that Armenian builders could not only create superb works of architecture out of stone but also hew them in solid rock. It is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Continue to the Garni Pagan Temple , the only Hellenistic temple in the Caucasus. Gracing the hillside the temple was dedicated to the God of the Sun, Mithra, and comprises also royal palace ruins, and Roman Baths with a well-preserved mosaic. Master class of traditional Armenian bread “lavash” being baked in tonir (ground oven). The preparation, meaning, and appearance of traditional bread as an expression of culture in Armenia is on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Drive back to Yerevan. Evening free. Overnight in Yerevan.
