Jasmine Sandlas 

Jasmine Kaur Sandlas is an Indian-American singer, rapper, television personality, performer, songwriter who mainly sings Punjabi songs. She was also featured on the TEDx Talks, MTV Coke Studio and spoken word platforms. Jasmine Sandlas is an independent artist.

Sandlas, born in Jalandar, Punjab, India and raised in Stockton, California always aspired to pursue a career in singing. Sandlas' first song was "Muskan" (2008) became a hit. In 2014, she began her Bollywood playback singing career with the song "Yaar Na Miley" for the film Kick. Upon its release, "Yaar Na Miley" went viral and topped the charts and Sandlas received wide critical acclaim for her singing style as well as earned several awards, including "Most popular song of year 2016 - PTC Punjabi Film Awards" and Screen Award for Best Female Playback. Moreover, she is also known as the Queen of Punjabi music industry among her fans due to her unique style of singing and lifestyle.

Arif Lohar A Pakistani Punjabi folk singer. He became popular in Pakistan as well as in India after his famous song "Jugni" with Nooran Lal in 2006. He usually sings accompanied by a native musical instrument resembling tongs (called a ‘Chimta’). His folk music is representative of the traditional folk heritage of the Punjab. He is the son of the renowned folk singer Alam Lohar. Arif Lohar was born in 1966 in Lalamusa , Punjab, Pakistan. His father was Alam Lohar, who belonged to the village of Achh in Lalamusa nearby Gujrat Tehsil, and was a prominent folk singer.

Arif Lohar has performed in more than 50 foreign tours around the world during the last 20 years, including tours to the UK, United States and UAE. In 2004, he performed in China for the opening of the Asian Games, which had a crowd of close to 1 million. He once performed in North Korea for the late General Secretary Kim Jong-il as part of an international delegation of peace and goodwill. He has also played multiple lead roles in Punjabi movies, and produced three songs for the soundtrack of Syed Noor's film Jugni (2012), the highest-grossing Pakistani film of 2012. In 2005, Arif Lohar was awarded the Pride of Performance Award by the Government of Pakistan. To date, he has more than 150 albums (including many Singles – LP's) to his credit and recorded more than 3,000 songs, mostly in the Punjabi language.

Ravinder Singh professionally known as Kaka Singh, is an Indian singer, song-writer, composer and music director associated with Punjabi Music. He is best known for his songs "Libaas", "Temporary Pyar", "Teeji Seat", "Mere Warga", "Keh Len De" and many more. Kaka Singh was born as Ravinder Singh in Chandumajra, Rajpura in the state of Punjab. He completed his schooling in Ashoka Public School and after that he completed his B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engeering. He also worked as Architect at Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority after pursuing his graduation. Kaka Singh began his music career with "Surma," a single with Adaab Kharud released in November 2019. In October 2020, his song "Keh Len De" was released under the label of Haani Records. In December 2020, he released the song "Libaas", which later appeared on YouTube's weekly Global Music Chart. His song is listed at number 1 on "Teeji Seat" Gaana's Top 50 Punjabi chart.

Rajinder Singh Rai - or Panjabi MC, as he’s professionally known - hails from Coventry, but he’s made his name in the musical world with the uncanny way in which he’s blended typical elements of the British underground - electronica, garage, hip hop - with traditional bhangra sounds, to create a musical identity that you can quite reasonably claim to be without compare. Since beginning his career back in 1993, he’s remained at the forefront of the electro scene, using sampling heavily in his work and constantly looking to blend different electronic sounds. Gurdas Maan’s UK tour postponed until May 2023

Legendary singer, Gurdas Maan’s UK tour, which was set to be held in October/November this year, has been postponed due to “an overwhelming response”.

Maan, who recently released his latest song ‘Gal Sunoh Punjabi Dosto’, will now be touring the UK in May 2023 with seven shows expected to take place.

The promoter of the tour, UK Box Office said, “After an overwhelming response to our previous 2022 tour teaser, we at UK Box Office believe that the four scheduled shows later this year are simply not enough. We have therefore rescheduled the UK tour and will be delivering a 7 show spectacular in May 2023.”

Inflated Oasis ticket prices 'depressing' - government promises review of dynamic pricing

"Time to look back in anger," one Oasis fan wrote on social media amid anger at how the highly anticipated reunion tour was ticketed.

The government has promised to look into dynamic ticket pricing, after the cost of tickets for the Oasis reunion tour more than doubled while on sale.

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy described the selling of inflated Oasis tickets as "depressing" as she said surge pricing would be included in a government review of the secondary gig sales market.

On Saturday, fans of the world-famous band sat in virtual queues for hours hoping to get their hands on tickets to one of the reunion shows next year.

However, when they got through the two queues and lengthy waits, many were met with ticket prices far higher than face value.

Some expressed their anger on social media , as tickets worth £148 were being sold for £355 on Ticketmaster within hours of release, due to the dynamic pricing systems.

Speaking over the weekend, Ms Nandy announced that such issues, as well as the "technology around queuing systems which incentivise it", would be looked into in an upcoming government consultation.

She said: "After the incredible news of Oasis's return, it's depressing to see vastly inflated prices excluding ordinary fans from having a chance of enjoying their favourite band live.

"This government is committed to putting fans back at the heart of music.

"So we will include issues around the transparency and use of dynamic pricing, including the technology around queuing systems which incentivise it, in our forthcoming consultation on consumer protections for ticket resales.

"Working with artists, industry, and fans we can create a fairer system that ends the scourge of touts, rip-off resales, and ensures tickets at fair prices."

What is dynamic pricing?

The demand-based system was introduced by Ticketmaster in 2022.

It said it was brought in to stop touts and ensure more money goes to the artists.

Essentially, when there is a lot of demand for tickets, and limited supply, the price can go up.

Amid anger over Oasis's ticket prices, the company said they do not set prices and shared a link to a website that said costs could be "fixed or market-based".

On its own website, Ticketmaster describes its "Platinum" tickets as those that have their price adjusted according to supply and demand.

It says the goal of the dynamic pricing system is to "give fans fair and safe access to the tickets, while enabling artists and other people involved in staging live events to price tickets closer to their true market value".

The company claims it is artists, their teams, and promoters who set pricing and choose whether dynamic pricing is used for their shows.

Government minister Lucy Powell was among those hit by dynamic pricing on Saturday, and eventually forked out more than double the original quoted cost of a ticket for an Oasis show.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) backed news of the government's review.

A spokesperson said: "We want fans to get a fair deal when they go to buy tickets on the secondary market and have already taken action against major resale websites to ensure consumer law is being followed properly.

"But we think more protections are needed for consumers here, so it is positive that the government wants to address this. We now look forward to working with them to get the best outcomes for fans and fair-playing businesses."

It comes after Noel and Liam Gallagher confirmed the band's long-awaited reunion on Tuesday last week.

Dynamic pricing is common within industries beyond music, with it being used frequently in the travel industry, with hotel rooms and airline tickets.

Frequent Taylor Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff previously said that dynamic pricing is an issue .

He told Stereogum that he wanted artists to be able to opt out of the system and be able to sell them at the price they chose.

Ticketmaster has been approached for comment.

Jeremy Clarkson has explained why he has ended his partnership with Richard Hammond and James May .

The trio first started working together on BBC ’s Top Gear in 2002 and moved over to Amazon for Prime Video series The Grand Tour , which premiered in 2016.

However, a forthcoming special of the car show, titled One for the Road, will serve as a swansong for the trio’s onscreen partnership – and Clarkson, who is currently enjoying the biggest success of his career with Clarkson’s Farm , has reflected on why he decided to cut professional ties with both Hammond and May.

‘After 36 years of talking about cars on television, I’m packing it in, because I’m too old and fat to get into the cars that I like and not interested in driving those I don’t,” he said in a new interview with The Sunday Times .

“What this means of course is that my 22-year partnership with James May and Richard Hammond is now over. You can see our final road trip together on Amazon Prime very soon. It’s emotional.”

Clarkson said the trio had “thought long and hard about how we should end our 22-year partnership, but in the end we just went to the end of the alphabet” and selected Zimbabwe as a place to set the special.

“There was another reason why we chose Zimbabwe, though,” he continued, revealing: “We would drive across it from east to west, as usual, but then we could cross the border and finish up where we began all those years ago: the Makgadikgadi salt pans in Botswana.”

Clarkson said it “makes the three of us happy” that their working relationship did not disintegrate “in a blizzard of outrage and tabloid headlines”, but was “landed safely and gently”.

“Was it sad when the director called, ‘That’s a wrap,’ for the very last time? Yes, it was. Especially as some of the crew had been with us when we were there before. People think of Top Gear and The Grand Tour as being James, Richard and me. But it isn’t. We’ve had the same crews for years. We’ve all grown up together.

“We’ve camped together. S*** our lungs out together, laughed our arses off together. These are the guys who really made those shows. They’re the ones who kept the cameras and the microphones going even when it was cold or dangerous, so that Andy [Wilman, producer] had his 1,200 hours of material to sift through.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Clarkson, Hammond and May had dissolved their production company, declaring solvency and appointing a liquidator to “wind up” their business.

The final Grand Tour episode will air on Prime Video on 13 September.

Scottie Scheffler caps stunning season with £19m win at Tour Championship to seal FedEx Cup title

Scottie Scheffler capped a remarkable season as he won the Tour Championship in typically ruthless fashion.

The world number one carded a final-round 67 to finish four shots clear of Collin Morikawa and take the FedEx Cup title, with Sahith Theegala two shots further back in third.

Scheffler took home more than £19million for his victory, his seventh on the PGA Tour this season to go with a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. The 28-year-old won The Masters in April, having defending his Players title at TPC Sawgrass.

Rory McIlroy finished in a tie for ninth, along with Hideki Matsuyama and Shane Lowry, while Robert MacIntyre shared 17th after a superb round of 64 to close his PGA Tour season.

As a result of leading the FedEx Cup heading into the season-ending event, Scheffler started at ten-under in Atalanta, two shots ahead of nearest rival Xander Schauffele.

Morikawa was the man in closest pursuit as the leaders teed off on Sunday, but a bogey on the opening hole swiftly extended Scheffler’s lead to six shots.

There was a wobble, though, from Scheffler, as he dropped a shot on the seventh and then shanked a bunker shot on the eighth, his lead suddenly cut to just two.

"I was a bit frustrated because it was quite a basic shot but I've shanked it from a similar lie before," Scheffler said.

"Ted [Scott, Scheffler's caddie] did a good job of helping me reset, and then I did some really nice stuff to finish this tournament off."

Three straight birdies followed than shank, backed up with an eagle on the par-five 14th, allowing Scheffler to ease towards the finishing line. Four pars on the bounce closed out victory, the American finishing on 30 under and, as has become familiar, in a league of his own.

Including all prize money and bonuses, Scheffler earned more than £47m on the course this year, with his seven wins the most in a year since Tiger Woods matched that tally in 2007.

There had been some debate heading into the Tour Championship as to who had enjoyed the better season, with Schauffele’s two major victories edging him above Scheffler in the eyes of certain observers. After another week of Scheffler domination, that question has surely been answered.

Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men 2024 Stage Four: Key Locations

Following a day of riding in south yorkshire the lloyds bank tour of britain men heads to the east midlands for stage four..

The route will take the peloton from Derby to Newark-on-Trent, and there are plenty of great spots for fans to watch the race along a 138.5-kilometer route. Starting in the city of Derby the route will then head out into Derbyshire, marking it the first time the Tour has visited the country since 2015. After this the riders will cross into Robin Hood county, Nottinghamshire, taking in Eastwood, Hucknall, Southall, Tuxford and Collingham before arriving in Newark-on-Trent.

For the first time in the 20-year history of the modern race, the city of Derby will welcome the race, with the stage getting underway at 11:00 from outside of the Derby Arena. Fans see the teams and riders being presented to the crowds from 10:00 onwards as they prepare for the neutralised start.

Intermediate Sprints

Stage four of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men will feature a single intermediate sprint, located in the village of Collingham situated just under 19 kilometres from the stage finish. With valuable points on offer in the race for the points jersey and teams beginning to think about the all important stage finish, expect exciting racing at the sprint in Collingham.

Heanor, in Derbyshire's Amber Valley, will host bike themed celebrations with live music in the town's market place when the race passes through (11:49). The town has been home to bike manufacturers and the Heanor Clarion Cycling Club, who count EF Education-East Post rider James Shaw as among their former riders.

As well as the celebrations in the town centre, you could also visit the world's oldest Christmas pudding maker, Matthew Walker, established 1899. A humble Derbyshire farmer's son, he began by producing a range of preserves and puddings based on his mother's special recipes, and the race passes close by their current factory.

The historic minster and market town of Southwell could be an ideal place to catch the action as it races through on the way to Newark-on-Trent.

Home to Southall Minster, a cathedral with over 900 years of history, Southall has plenty of cafes, tea rooms and pubs for riders and groups looking for a spot to catch the action and refuel before heading onwards to the stage finish at Newark-on-Trent just a short drive along the A617.

The race is due to pass through Southwell at approximately 12:51 and riders on two wheels can expect to be in Newark in around 45 minutes (roughly 20 minutes by car), leaving plenty of time to see the conclusion of the race at approximately 14:32.

Stage four will conclude with a crossing of the river Trent and a thrilling ride alongside Sconce and Devon Park in Newark-on-Trent before ending on Victoria Steet. This will be the third time Newark-on-Trent has hosted a stage finish of the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain, with previous winners being Fernando Gaviria (2017) and Olav Kooij (2023).

Fans can enjoy food, drink and entertainment in the fan village following the conclusion of the stage, as well as celebrate with the teams and riders as the jerseys and stage awards are presented.
