"Visa Infinite" is a package of superpremium benefits available on certain cards that carry the Visa label. It's the top tier within Visa's three levels of benefits , tailored to high-net-worth cardholders.

First introduced overseas, Visa Infinite came to the U.S. around 2016 and remains relatively uncommon. Cards on the Visa Infinite platform include the Chase Sapphire Reserve® , the United Club℠ Infinite Card and the City National Crystal® Visa Infinite® Credit Card .

Here's a quick summary of Visa Infinite benefits and a guide to using them.

Summary of Visa Infinite benefits

Visa offers three levels of benefits: Traditional, Signature and Infinite. Each level includes all the benefits from the levels below it.

Benefits offered at the Infinite level

Purchase protection (coverage for theft or damage).

Return protection.

Trip cancellation and interruption coverage.

Trip delay reimbursement.

Travel accident insurance.

Lost luggage reimbursement.

Lower-tier benefits included in infinite

For details about using benefits from the Signature (S) and Traditional (T) tiers, see our article on Visa Signature .

VISA BENEFITS VS. ISSUER BENEFITS

Before we go into detail on these benefits, it's important to understand a few basic points:

Most of the features on a typical Visa credit card aren't dictated by Visa at all, but rather by the bank that issued the card (such as Chase, City National or your local bank). Rewards rates, bonuses, interest rates and fees are all determined by the issuer.

Visa makes Infinite benefits available on cards that carry the Visa Infinite label, but it is up to the issuing bank to decide whether a particular card actually includes a particular benefit.

Many issuers offer their own benefits on top of (or in place of) those offered by Visa. These may be even more generous than Visa Infinite benefits.

Purchase protection

How it works.

Also called "purchase security," this benefit reimburses you when something you buy with your Visa Infinite card is stolen or damaged within 90 days of the purchase. You can be reimbursed for up to $10,000 per occurrence (see below) and $50,000 per year.

If the item is stolen, you must file a police report within 48 hours. Items that are simply lost are not eligible for reimbursement.

You have 60 days from the date of the theft or damage to report it to Visa. Call the benefits administrator at 888-221-3289.

You have 90 days from the date of the theft or damage to file a claim for reimbursement. You can do it all online, including uploading your supporting documents. Go to cardbenefitservices.com .

Things to consider

Many items are excluded. This includes (among other things) preowned or used items; plants and animals; motor vehicles; antiques and collectibles; items damaged by a delivery service; traveler's checks, tickets and other negotiable items; and real estate or items installed in real estate, like hardwired appliances. See the full list of exclusions here .

Gifts you buy for others are covered. Also, purchases outside the U.S. are eligible for reimbursement.

Coverage is per "occurrence," not per item. Say your house is broken into (or hit by a tornado) and you lose a bunch of stuff you bought with your card. The $10,000 limit applies to all losses caused by the break-in or the tornado. So if you had three items worth $4,000 apiece and all were destroyed, your coverage would max out at $10,000.

Return protection

How it works.

When you buy something with your Visa Infinite card and want to return it within 90 days, Visa will take it even if the store refuses to. You can be reimbursed for up to $300 per item and up to $1,000 per year.

You have to try to return it to the merchant first. If you get a full refund, then you don't need the benefit. If the merchant won't take it back, then file claim with Visa. If you get only a partial refund from the merchant, Visa may cover the difference.

You have 90 days from the date of purchase to notify Visa. Call 888-221-3289 to say you want to return something.

You have 30 days to file a claim. This clock starts ticking once you notify Visa that you want to use the return protection benefit. Go to cardbenefitservices.com to start a claim and upload supporting documents (including the receipt and your credit card statement showing the purchase; you may be asked to provide more information, such as a copy of the store's return policy).

The store won't take the item back — but you don't get to keep it. You'll have to ship the item to Visa. For your claim to be approved, the item must be in like-new condition and in working order.

There are a lot of exclusions. A lot of the same items excluded from purchase protection are also ineligible for return protection. In addition, return protection excludes a few things that people are tempted to buy, use once and take back. So forget about, say, buying a tuxedo or formal gown for one big night out and then getting Visa to eat the cost. See the full list of exclusions here .

Trip cancellation and interruption coverage

If you're forced to cancel or cut short a trip because of illness, injury or other covered reason, you can get reimbursed for up to $2,000 in nonrefundable transportation costs — not just airfare, but also train, bus or cruise tickets. You must have bought your tickets with your Visa Infinite card.

Only transportation costs will be reimbursed. Prepaid hotel stays, event tickets, reservation fees and other costs aren't covered.

Coverage depends on why your trip was canceled or interrupted. If you're injured in a car accident the day before your trip, or if you suffer food poisoning on your vacation, or if a hurricane makes it impossible to reach your destination, you're likely to be covered. But many things are excluded. These include acute illness triggered by pre-existing conditions; injuries suffered in certain activities (including sports); the effects of cosmetic surgery; and illness or injury resulting from intoxication.

Trip delay reimbursement

This benefit provides up to $500 in coverage for expenses you incur when your flight is delayed at least six hours or requires an overnight stay, regardless of the reason — weather, air traffic congestion, mechanical and so on. It's much more flexible than airline policies, which often give you nothing for weather delays and very little for everything else.

What's covered: "Reasonable additional expenses" that you wouldn't have had to pay if not for the delay. That includes things like:

Lodging for an overnight delay.

Meals while you wait.

Transportation/parking costs to leave the airport and come back.

Filing a claim: Save all your receipts and make note of all your flight information — airline, flight number, scheduled and actual departure times. Start a claim at eclaimsline.com or call 800-546-9806

Additional expenses are covered, but losses are not. Say you were traveling to see a Broadway show, and you'd paid $300 for those theater tickets. Your flight is delayed, and you miss the show. That cost is not covered by the trip-delay benefit.

The delay must be unforeseeable. If your trip is delayed because of something you knew (or could have known) beforehand, you might not be covered. For example, if an airline's mechanics have been on strike, and the strike has been resulting in delays day after day, then a delay in your flight would have been foreseeable and may not be covered.

Travel accident insurance

When you buy airline, train, bus, ferry or other transportation tickets with your Visa Infinite card, you get $500,000 of accidental death and dismemberment insurance. You're covered while traveling, as well as while you're getting on or off the plane (or train, bus, etc.) and when you're waiting to board. This coverage comes on top of any other insurance you have.

Lost luggage reimbursement

If an airline (or other carrier) loses your luggage, you can be reimbursed up to $3,000 per trip. (For New York residents, the limit is $2,000 per bag). However, this coverage comes into play only after you get reimbursed by the airline and your homeowners or renters insurance policy.

The coverage applies to things like clothing but excludes many valuable items. Keep items like these with you rather than in your bags, as they are not covered:

Eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, dentures and prosthetics.

Cash, coins, traveler's checks, securities, tickets and valuable documents.

Cameras, sporting equipment and furniture.

See the full list of exclusions here.

Guidance for filing a claim:

Report missing luggage to the carrier immediately. If your luggage is missing, you must file a report with the airline before you leave the airport; get a copy of the report.

Ensure your luggage is truly "lost." In most cases, lost luggage isn't really lost at all — just delayed or misdirected — and arrives at its intended destination on another flight within a day or so. Airlines typically consider a bag lost when it doesn't turn up within five to 14 days, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Notify Visa within 20 days of the loss. Start the process at eclaimsline.com or call 800-546-9806. Although Visa will not be the first place you go for reimbursement, you still have to put in this notification to be eligible to file a claim with Visa later on.

File a claim with the airline. Under federal law, airlines are liable for up to $3,500 per passenger for lost baggage, although individual airlines can offer more coverage if they want.

File a claim through your personal insurance. Assuming that the money you get from the airline isn't enough to cover your loss, your next step is any insurance policy you have — such as homeowners insurance or renters insurance — that covers lost possessions. Visa's coverage kicks in only after your other insurance does.

File a claim with Visa within 90 days of the loss. This benefit covers anything left over after the airline and your personal insurance (if you have it) pay.

Filing a claim can be costly. The requirement that you start with your own insurance sharply limits the value of this benefit. Making insurance claims, especially small ones, can cost you thousands more in the long run because of higher premiums. In some cases, cutting your losses may be the least expensive alternative.

Visa Infinite: Everything you need to know, from rental car perks to lounge access

Jason Stauffer

Editor's Note

If you have a card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® , United Club℠ Infinite Card or the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite® Card , you may have noticed that it carries " Visa Infinite " branding.

Since only a few cards in the U.S. are Visa Infinite products, we don't blame you if you're a bit clueless as to what this designation entails. In addition to the cards mentioned, there aren't many other Visa Infinite cards that are easy to obtain.

We'll outline the perks of the Visa Infinite program below, but the first thing to know is that Visa Infinite cards are a step up from the more common Visa Signature designation found on cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card .

As we review the benefits, remember these are the possible perks available through the Visa Infinite program. Specific issuers can tweak or exclude certain ones, as you'll see with the variation in lounge access benefits.

The information for the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Global entry application fee credit.

This Visa Infinite program will reimburse you for the $100 fee when you apply for Global Entry . While this program is worth signing up for to breeze through immigration, several other premium travel rewards cards also offer a Global Entry fee reimbursement , so this shouldn't factor too heavily in your decision to get a Visa Infinite card.

Car rental privileges

Cardholders get special discounts at car rental providers such as Avis , National and Hertz and are eligible for various VIP amenities. The Visa Infinite program offers primary car rental insurance (more on that later in the post), so using an eligible card could be a great choice for renting a set of wheels.

Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection

When you book a hotel stay with a Visa Infinite card, you'll enjoy perks such as an automatic room upgrade on arrival (when available), free Wi-Fi and complimentary continental breakfast. Your Visa Infinite card will get you all the benefits available to Visa Signature cardholders, plus an extra amenity at over 200 locations.

infinite visa travel insurance

Note that the extra amenity you receive will vary by location. If you're looking for a particular one, it's a good idea to verify what amenity you'll receive before booking.

Visa Infinite Concierge

Like most premium card programs, the Visa Infinite program includes a dedicated concierge service that can assist with travel and dining arrangements, shopping, access to exclusive events and more. You can expect great service and assistance with almost whatever outing you plan. The service is available 24/7, 365 days a year, and can be used domestically or abroad.

Priority Pass lounge access

Having a credit card with airport lounge access can be a game changer, and Priority Pass is the biggest airport lounge network with more than 1,500 locations worldwide. The exact lounge access privileges you'll get vary depending on the card.

infinite visa travel insurance

For example, the Sapphire Reserve comes with a full Priority Pass Select membership , which gets the cardholder and up to two guests unlimited lounge visits. On the other hand, the Altitude Reserve card comes with eight Priority Pass lounge visits per year. Each person who visits, whether they're a guest or the primary cardholder, will use up one of these eight passes, so plan accordingly.

Airline incidentals statement credit

With your Visa Infinite card, you may enjoy rebates for certain expenses associated with your flight. Examples include checked luggage charges and inflight food purchases. This benefit isn't included on all Visa Infinite cards, so check your particular card's terms and benefits. For example, the Sapphire Reserve offers an up to $300 travel credit and airline incidental fees are included under eligible charges.

Travel and lifestyle protections

Primary rental car insurance.

Through Visa Infinite, you can get primary coverage* for up to $75,000 due to damage (caused by collision or theft) to a rental car. Visa Infinite cards aren't the only options to offer this coverage — the Chase Sapphire Preferred and a few others do as well — but this is a great perk to have since you won't need to file a claim with your own insurance company in the event of an accident or theft.

Trip cancellation, interruption and delay insurance

Visa Infinite cards offer trip cancellation and interruption insurance.** This includes reimbursement of up to $2,000 per insured trip for nonrefundable expenses when you cancel a trip for a covered reason or when your trip is interrupted or delayed for a covered reason.

infinite visa travel insurance

There's a full list of "covered reasons," but if you're suffering from a serious illness or injury, you can expect this benefit to be offered. In addition, Visa Infinite provides trip delay insurance.*** You'll get coverage for expenses (up to $500 per day) when a purchased trip is delayed more than six hours or requires an overnight stay.

Lost luggage reimbursement

Yet another travel protection Visa Infinite cardholders enjoy is lost luggage reimbursement.*** If your checked or carry-on baggage is lost or stolen on a common carrier, the program will reimburse you up to $3,000 (up to $2,000 for New York residents) per covered trip.

infinite visa travel insurance

You're eligible for this coverage when you pay for at least a portion of the travel with your Visa Infinite card or with the rewards associated with the card. Having lost luggage protection is a great way to relieve stress during a trip. It's frustrating when an airline loses your luggage, but you can at least get some compensation with the right protection.

Extended warranty, purchase protection and return protection

When you purchase a product with a warranty of three years or less, you'll get an extra year of coverage*** for up to $10,000 per claim and up to $50,000 per cardholder. This isn't the only coverage option out there; for more options, take a look at our list of the best cards with extended warranty protection .

infinite visa travel insurance

If an item is stolen or damaged within 90 days from the purchase date — and you purchased it with a Visa Infinite Card — you'll be covered for up to $10,000 per claim (up to $50,000 per cardholder). With purchase protection coverage,*** you can either be reimbursed, have the item repaired or get a replacement.

In addition to purchase protection that covers you in the event of theft or damage, the Visa Infinite program offers return protection*** coverage of up to $300 per item and $1,000 per year when you're unhappy with a product and the retailer won't accept a return. To be eligible, you must pay for the purchase with your Visa Infinite card and file a claim within 90 days of the purchase date.

Other protections that may be included with your Visa Infinite card include cellphone protection, emergency evacuation, hotel theft protection and price protection. Check the benefits of your specific Visa Infinite card to find out if it offers these protections.

Bottom line

Like other premium credit card programs, Visa Infinite offers a nice array of benefits for your rewards credit card .

The airport lounge access and primary car rental insurance can certainly come in handy. Other perks like car rental discounts and special treatment at hotels aren't unique to the program, but they can absolutely add to the value you get from your card — not a bad thing if you're paying $550 a year for the Chase Sapphire Reserve .

Top 11 Visa Infinite Benefits & Best Visa Infinite Cards [2024]

Table of Contents

Visa benefit levels, visa benefits vs. card issuer benefits, the top 11 visa infinite benefits, the 4 best visa infinite cards, 4 great alternatives to a visa infinite card, final thoughts.

See our  Advertising Policy for more about our partners, how we make money, and our rating methodology. Opinions and recommendations are ours alone.

When you select a credit card that carries the Visa logo, you know the card will have wide acceptance throughout the world. And while acceptance is important, you’ll also enjoy access to a Visa benefits package that comes with being a cardholder.

Today, we’re going to look closely at those benefits, specifically focusing on the highest tier level of Visa benefits, Visa Infinite .

We’ll also share some excellent examples of Visa Infinite cards, break down the benefits you can expect to receive, and suggest some alternative options for cards that shine at striking a balance between the annual fee and benefits offered.

Before we talk about Visa Infinite, let’s look at how the levels of Visa benefits work, and where you might find the associated benefits.

While our primary focus today is on Visa Infinite benefits, there are actually several levels of Visa benefits. The foundation of Visa network benefits is the Traditional Visa benefit level. Visa Signature benefits are next and are a step above Traditional Visa benefits. The highest level, which we’ll cover shortly, is Visa Infinite .

Traditional Visa benefits include basic features such as emergency card replacement, emergency cash, zero liability, lost or stolen card reporting, ID navigator, card inquiry services, and roadside dispatch.

Both Visa Signature and Visa Infinite levels include these benefits plus much more. Let’s look at what Visa Signature entails and which cards may include these benefits.

Bottom Line: There are 3 levels of Visa benefits — Traditional Visa, Visa Signature, and Visa Infinite. While some benefits are duplicated in more than 1 level, you may find enhancements or broader coverage with a higher benefit level. For example, you may receive car rental insurance on a Traditional Visa card that is secondary while on a Visa Infinite card, this coverage may be primary.

In addition to Traditional Visa benefits, Visa Signature, and Visa Infinite benefits, a card issuer will choose to add its own level of benefits. An example of this is the Visa Infinite Global Entry statement credit. A card issuer may add the choice of receiving reimbursement for the TSA PreCheck fee, too.

The collection of Visa benefits is simply a menu from which the card issuer can select what it wishes to include on any given card. You could receive a combination of any level of Visa benefits plus any additional card issuer benefits.

This combining of benefits allows a card issuer to build a unique benefits package for each card in order to fit its target market.

Pine Cliffs Hotel, a Luxury Collection Resort Algarve

We’ll cover some examples of the best Visa Infinite cards shortly and dive deeper into the benefit details. However, first, let’s look at some of the top Visa Infinite benefits you can expect to find on Visa Infinite cards, not necessarily in the order of value (which can vary depending on the cardholder).

  • 3 free years of Shipt (enroll by December 31, 2024)
  • Airline incidentals statement credit
  • Extended warranty, purchase security, and return protection
  • Global Entry statement credit
  • Lost luggage reimbursement
  • Minimum $10,000 credit limit
  • Primary car rental insurance
  • Roadside dispatch
  • Trip cancellation, interruption, and trip delay
  • Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection benefits
  • Worldwide lounge access

Additional Visa Infinite Benefits

Enjoy these additional premium benefits that are included on Visa Infinite cards:

  • Visa Infinite Concierge Services — Receive 24/7 personalized service for making travel, entertainment, and dining arrangements and for referrals.
  • Car Rental Privileges — Enjoy discounts, upgrades, and other privileges with Avis ,  Hertz , National , and Audi on demand .
  • Fine Wine and Food — Receive exclusive access, discounts, and benefits at 50 Sonoma wineries.
  • Golf Rewards — The Visa Infinite Troon Golf Benefit provides premium benefits at 115 golf courses.
  • Travel and Emergency Assistance Services — Receive assistance 24/7 when traveling to obtain medical/legal referrals, translation services, help to arrange emergency transportation, and more. Cardholders are responsible for the actual services received.

Bottom Line: Not every Visa Infinite card will have all of the available Visa Infinite benefits. Most cards will have a combination of Traditional Visa benefits, Visa Signature benefits, and Visa Infinite benefits. The card issuer will select which Visa benefits it wants to include on a specific card and then add its own card-issuer benefits.

Chase Ultimate Rewards

The Chase Sapphire Reserve card is one of the best examples of a Visa Infinite card as it checks nearly every box when it comes to Visa Infinite benefits . You’ll start with a credit limit of $10,000 or higher and then you’ll enjoy a long list of benefits and protections.

We like that the card earns well on travel purchases via the Chase travel portal but also offers 3x earnings on dining and travel purchases outside the portal. At redemption time, you’ll be able to redeem your Ultimate Rewards points for 1.5 cents each towards travel via the portal or transfer to Chase airline and hotel partners for even greater potential value.

Here’s a sampling of some of the best benefits offered by the card :

Primary Car Rental Insurance

Reserve and pay for your rental car with your card, decline the rental agency’s collision or loss damage waiver (CDW or LDW) coverage, and receive coverage for theft, damage, and loss of use. You receive primary coverage which means that you do not have to file a claim with any other applicable insurance first.

Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection

Book your hotel room directly via Visa Infinite Hotels and receive a long list of exclusive cardholder on-property benefits:

  • $25 food or beverage credit per stay
  • An additional room, spa, food/beverage, or golf credit (up to $100); varies by property
  • Complimentary continental breakfast for you and 1 guest
  • Complimentary in-room Wi-Fi
  • Late checkout when requested, if available
  • Upgraded room on arrival when available
  • VIP Guest services and amenities that differ by property

Hot Tip: You can also use your Chase Sapphire Reserve card to book through a similarly named program called The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection to receive extra benefits at over 1,000 hotels, resorts, lodges, and spas worldwide.

Worldwide Lounge Access via Priority Pass Select Membership

With over 1,400 locations, Priority Pass offers cardholders access to airport lounges, experiences, and Minute Suites throughout the world.

Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS Statement Credit

Charge your Global Entry application or renewal fee to your card and receive a statement credit . You could alternatively choose to receive reimbursement for a TSA PreCheck or NEXUS fee. The maximum reimbursement is up to $120 every 4 years.

$300 Travel Statement Credit

The Chase Sapphire Reserve card goes a step beyond the more restrictive Visa Infinite benefit for an airline incidentals statement credit and offers the statement credit for travel purchases. Chase also has a broad definition of what constitutes a travel purchase, so the credit is easy to utilize.

Trip Cancellation, Interruption, and Trip Delay

Receive up to $10,000 per trip per person, $20,000 per incident, up to a maximum of $40,000 per 12-month period for covered events. If your trip is delayed more than 6 hours, or overnight, you could receive up to $100 per day, up to a maximum of 5 days ($500).

Baggage Insurance

Once again, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card offers coverage beyond the Visa Infinite lost baggage benefit. Baggage insurance on the card offers up to $3,000 per person, per trip , for lost or stolen luggage, and up to $500 for baggage that is delayed 6 hours or more.

Roadside Dispatch

The Visa Infinite roadside dispatch benefit offers roadside assistance for 1 low pre-determined flat fee. The Chase Sapphire Reserve card does not charge a fee for roadside assistance for up to 4 service calls each year. There is a maximum $50 benefit per service call.

Shopping Protections

Eligible items purchased with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card receive the following protection coverages:

  • Extended Warranty — Manufacturer’s warranties of 3 years or less are extended 1 additional year. There is a maximum of $10,000 per claim, $50,000 per account.
  • Purchase Protection — Theft, damage, and accidental parting are covered on eligible items for 120 days from the purchase date, up to $10,000 per item, $50,000 per account.
  • Return Protection — If the merchant will not accept a return within 90 days of the purchase date, you could receive up to $500 per item, up to $1,000 per year.

While a Visa Infinite card may be packed with premium benefits, you’ll generally pay a higher annual fee to receive those benefits. If you’ll use most of those benefits, the fee is normally offset and then some. Let’s look at a few cards that offer a nice balance of benefits with a lower annual fee.

Hot Tip: Read our comparison between these 2 popular Ink Business cards for more information!

While Visa Infinite benefits are great, they have no value unless you can use them. The best Visa level card for you will have a benefits package that provides bottom-line value to you personally.

Plus, benefits aren’t the only factor to consider when determining the best card for your situation. You’ll want to be sure your particular spending mix is earning the highest rewards possible and the card has a redemption option that fits your objectives. Finally, you’ll want to be comfortable with the annual fee you’ll be paying compared to the level of benefits you’ll use.

If you’ll use enough of the Visa Infinite benefits, you can certainly justify the higher annual fee you may have to pay. However, Visa Signature cards may be more widely available and still offer a competitive benefits package, rewards-earning potential, and likely a lower annual fee.

Visa offers three levels of consumer credit cards: Visa Traditional, Visa Signature and Visa Infinite. Each level comes with an escalating series of perks and benefits, with Visa Infinite serving as both the most exclusive and the most rewarding tier.

Just be aware that you’ll have to pay for these perks. Visa Infinite cards usually charge hefty annual fees, sometimes as high as $550. Is the cost worth it? That depends on how you use your card and whether you take advantage of enough of the perks that come with it.

What is Visa Infinite?

Each Visa credit card falls into one of three categories: Visa Traditional, Visa Signature and Visa Infinite. Of the three categories, Visa Infinite is the most exclusive and comes with the most valuable benefits. Because of this, cardholders need excellent credit to be eligible for a Visa Infinite card, and these cards generally come with hefty annual fees. As an example, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® comes with an annual fee of $550.

To justify the higher annual fees that come with Visa Infinite cards, you’ll have to take advantage of their money-saving features, including access to the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection and other travel perks. Unlike credit card rewards programs such as Chase Ultimate Rewards , you don’t need to collect points to earn or take advantage of Visa Infinite benefits. These benefits are included with every Visa Infinite card, though individual benefits may vary by card.

In fact, Visa Infinite credit cards often come with both Visa Infinite benefits and their own high-value rewards program. The Chase Sapphire Reserve card, for example, is a Visa Infinite card that also earns points that can be redeemed through the Chase Ultimate Rewards program.

Visa Infinite vs. Visa Signature

While Visa Traditional credit cards only come with a basic suite of benefits, such as the ability to quickly receive a new credit card if yours is lost, stolen or damaged, both the Visa Signature and Visa Infinite tiers offer significant benefits to the cardholder.

Here’s a quick rundown of the benefits offered by each level of credit card:

It’s important to note that just because Visa doesn’t offer a specific benefit at the card level doesn’t mean the card itself doesn’t offer that benefit. The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card , for example, is both a Visa Signature card and one of Bankrate’s top recommended introductory travel cards —and it comes with travel accident insurance and additional travel perks such as a credit of up to $100 for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fees .

Visa Infinite credit cards also come with additional travel benefits that vary by card, including upgrades and VIP treatment through the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection, access to Visa Infinite Concierge Services, Priority Pass airport lounge access and more.

Visa Infinite hotel and travel benefits

Visa Infinite credit cards come with a long list of hotel and travel benefits. The Chase Sapphire Reserve, for instance, offers a $300 annual travel credit, while the UBS Visa Infinite Credit Card offers a $500 dining and airport club credit. Check your Visa Infinite card to learn which benefits are available to you.

Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection

Visa Infinite cardholders can take advantage of several luxury preferred hotel benefits, including VIP status, upgrades when available, complimentary breakfast and additional special amenities that vary by hotel.

Visa Infinite car rental benefits

Visa Infinite cards entitle cardholders to VIP amenities and discounts with Avis, National, Hertz and Silvercar. For instance, cardholders can save 30 percent off base rates when renting from Avis and up to 25 percent with National.

Visa Infinite air travel perks and discounts

There are numerous ways for Visa Infinite cardholders to save money on air travel, including statement credits for incidentals such as checked bags and in-flight meals and snacks, and a statement credit of up to $100 for Global Entry or TSA Precheck fees. Plus, Visa Infinite cardholders get VIP access to more than 1,200 Priority Pass airport lounges.

Visa Infinite Concierge Services

If you’d like assistance planning your next big trip or your next evening out, the Visa Infinite Concierge Services are ready to help cardholders plan itineraries, book tickets (for both travel and entertainment), make dinner reservations and more.

Credit cards that offer Visa Infinite benefits

Three of the more well-known credit cards offering Visa Infinite benefits include the Chase Sapphire Reserve, the Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Credit Card  and the UBS Visa Infinite card. Each of these cards is a high-level travel rewards card that offers premium benefits for frequent travelers with excellent credit willing to pay high annual fees in exchange for perks. Here’s a look at these cards, including a few others offering top-tier Visa benefits:

The Visa Infinite program is still relatively new, so expect additional Visa Infinite credit cards in the future. Expect them to be similar to the current Visa Infinite cards: exclusive to people with excellent credit and designed for jet-setters with a large travel budget.

What else do you need to know about Visa Infinite?

It’s important to note that Visa Infinite perks and benefits will vary by card issuer. Although we’ve made a comprehensive listing of the Visa Infinite features, it’s up to the card issuer to extend to cardholders for a particular card. Also, you should know that some of these card benefits come with plenty of terms and exclusions. Make sure you read the fine print to understand the circumstances under which you can take advantage of a benefit and when it may not apply.

If you’re looking for a credit card that helps you save money on in-air purchases, offers TSA PreCheck statement credits or helps you qualify for hotel upgrades, you don’t necessarily need a Visa Infinite card. Although the Visa Infinite program comes with a long list of perks, many of those perks are also available at the Visa Signature level or are offered by other card issuers, such as Mastercard.

Take a look at our list of top travel credit cards and find a card that comes with the perks you want, whether you’re looking for priority boarding, free checked bags, trip cancellation insurance or all of the above. You might not get access to the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection, but you can still use travel rewards to make your next trip a little more enjoyable—or a lot less expensive.

Be sure to check out our latest Bankrate guides for more research on other credit card rewards programs .

Visa Infinite Travel Benefits

One of the best perks of being a Visa Infinite cardholder is getting travel perks and protections. Some of these are automatic just for being a cardholder while others are unlocked by using your card to purchase travel. Here's an overview of the Visa Infinite travel benefits.

Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection

A collection of high-end properties located all over the globe, the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection offers a set of elite benefits for each paid stay at hotels where you have no elite status. You will receive the following benefits:

  • Best available rate guarantee
  • Property-specific $100 credit

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Statement Credit

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program providing expedited security clearance for pre-approved travelers upon arrival in the United States at select airports via automatic kiosks. Global Entry automatically grants TSA PreCheck benefits, meaning applying for Global Entry is usually better than just enrolling for TSA PreCheck, though it does require an interview (and getting an appointment can be difficult).

Visa Infinite cards usually offer up to $100 Global Entry/TSA PreCheck credit every four years. To get this, simply charge the application fee to your card, and the fee will be reimbursed as a statement credit.

Keep in mind that the Global Entry application does not need to be for the cardmember. You can use the credit for any friend/family member. Simply charge the application fee to your credit card, and the fee will be reimbursed.

Visa Infinite Car Rental Privileges

Reserve and pay for your rental car with your Visa Infinite card, decline the rental agency’s collision or loss damage waiver (CDW or LDW) coverage, and you will receive coverage for theft, damage, and loss of use. You receive primary coverage which means that you do not have to file a claim with any other applicable insurance first.

Lounge Access via Priority Pass Select

Most Visa Infinite cards offer a Priority Pass Select membership for as long as you hold the card, providing access to 1,400+ airline lounges worldwide. Each card has different rules and levels of access, and some don't include access to Priority Pass restaurants . Be sure to consult your benefits guide for specifics for each card.

Airline Incidentals Statement Credit

Certain Visa Infinite cards offer rebates for air travel-related fees like accelerated airport security programs, checked luggage charges, in-flight food, and more. These benefits differ between the various Visa Infinite cards, but here's a list of the cards that offer an airline statement credit:

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve ® : $300 annual travel credit , automatically applies to purchases that code as travel from the merchant.
  • Crystal ® Visa Infinite ® Credit Card : $350 airline incidentals credit, applies only to U.S. domestic carriers and covers ticket change/cancellation fees, checked baggage fees, in-flight entertainment, onboard food and beverage charges, airport lounge membership fees and day passes, onboard wireless charges, and TSA PreCheck membership application fee transactions, and may vary depending on the airline.
  • UBS Visa Infinite credit card : $250 airline incidentals credit, need to enroll on UBS Online Services and select an eligible domestic U.S. carrier, benefit covers ticket change/cancellation fees, checked baggage fees, seat upgrades, etc.
  • Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card : $300 annual travel credit , must be booked through the Capital One Travel portal.
  • U.S. Bank Altitude™ Reserve Visa Infinite ® Card : $325 annual travel credit, automatically applies to purchases that code as travel from the merchant.

The items included in the airline/travel credit are a solid example that inclusions and how the benefits are applied are solely up to the discretion of the credit card provider.

Visa Infinite Concierge Services

The Visa Infinite concierge offers services similar to those provided by concierge services on other premium cards. The concierge can assist you with a wide range of activities, including making reservations at local restaurants and spas, booking hard-to-get theatre tickets, arranging flower delivery, and scheduling car servicing. The concierge service will charge the associated card for the bill, but you won't have to pay anything for the services, and they are available 24/7 every day of the year.

Other Visa Infinite Benefits

Visa Infinite cardholders also get access to select high-end benefits — from BOGO wine tastings to discounts on golf tee times.

Fine wine and food

You can enjoy year-round benefits and exclusive access at more than 25 select Sonoma County wineries using your Visa Infinite credit card. Benefits include:

  • Purchase a standard tasting using a Visa Infinite card and receive a complimentary tasting of equal or lesser value
  • Preferred pricing on non-wine purchases over $50, where applicable
  • Savings on wine purchased same day in the Tasting Room
  • Savings on Reserve tasting or special wine and food pairings

Find out more and get a full list of participating wineries on the Sonoma Wine website .

Your Visa Infinite card also gives access to over 20 high-end, private Troon Privé golf clubs. would love to have these cards in Europe. Why we can’t apply?

' data-src=

This is simply how the finance/credit card industry in the US works. That isn’t to say you couldn’t try to establish credit in the US, but most credit card issuers (including banks like Chase) require you to have a US Social Security Number to apply for a credit card.

' data-src=

That’s a lot of perks.

' data-src=

Every time I read more about the CSR, I know I should upgrade my CSP. For my travel and spending habits, it’s almost a no-brainer. Just the idea of having 3! 450 dollar fee cards in my wallet is difficult to wrap my brain around. Despite the fact that I logically know that they ALL will pay for themselves.

' data-src=

A great outline of all the benefits.

' data-src=

solid benefits for this annual fees, but i still prefer my Amex.

' data-src=

For annual fees of $450+, the benefits need to be pretty solid…

' data-src=

The CSP has so many benefits, these extra infinite (non) benefits don’t really add much..

' data-src=

Visa Infinite benefits don’t add much? The Global Entry credit, and Priority Pass lounge access (yes, it’s the good version where entry is free rather than just discounted) are very valuable.

' data-src=

Thanks for the detailed info!

' data-src=

do you still earn hotel points if booked through Visa?

Based on our experience, 100% time, yes.

' data-src=

Nice helpful article. I’m still a bit puzzled how different visa infinite cards have different benefits, but I learned a lot from this article. Thanks!

' data-src=

Who decides what cards qualify as Visa Infinite?

The card issuer and Visa work together to create a product.

' data-src=

That’s interesting. I wonder how the $100 airfare discount compares to looking for a discount fare on your own, or are your selections limited, eliminating lower price options.

' data-src=

Visa infinite privileges in US are way better than Canada

' data-src=

Agreed, along with the entire credit card portfolio. It’s way more competitive and consumer oriented in the USA.

Another challenge is that it seems that the Visa benefits are country specific. EG: A Canadian Visa Infinite card will not get you into a Mexico City Visa Infinite Benefit lounges. Amex does not have this issue.

' data-src=

The visa infinite benefits are great! I can’t wait til my 5/24 period is over so I can open a new one!

' data-src=

ok, i keep seeing this (sorry newbie here!) what does 5/24 mean?

See here: https://awardwallet.com/blog/chase-524-policy-work/

thanks! ok more great info to read… how to get any work done -ever! there is so much to learn. cheers

' data-src=

very nice perks. ok, I am staying the CSR for another year!

' data-src=

love the airline benefits. Thank you for the note.

' data-src=

Does MasterCard have a tier that’s somewhat comparable to Visa Infinite?

World Elite is tops as far as I can see.

' data-src=

So Visa Infinite is almost more like a category of cards? A type of card? Proud CSR member interested in learning about other great, similar cards, but if there’s a huge overlap, maybe I need to look elsewhere?

Honestly, the only benefit I wish were on the CSR that isn’t that is available on other Infinite cards is the $100 air travel discount. I wouldn’t look elsewhere.

I’m the idiot who signed up for TSA Precheck and NOT Global Entry, not knowing the former was included in the latter. I thought Precheck was more valuable because since my wife wouldn’t have Global Entry, we would end up on separate lines at immigration (at least with PreCheck it’s only on entry and the difference isn’t as big)

' data-src=

Wish Ritz had a better travel credit. Shame I can’t get a CSR anymore.

' data-src=

I love my Chase Sapphire Reserve and I feel the benefits to me is greater than the $450 annual fee.

' data-src=

The golf one was one I didn’t know about until recently. I need to polish up on my game. 🙂

They also from time to time offer specials. Nothing of note, but sometimes they have buy one get one movie deals, etc. At least in the past for Infinite (and even Signature) cards.

' data-src=

Guys, the blog is becoming a swamp of credit card advertisements…. Until recently the posts were much more informative

Nuno, sorry you feel that way. I hope you’ll continue to receive value from the information we receive, but with credit cards and their benefits being a significant part of the points and travel experience for the U.S. we’ll continue to cover them extensively. Honestly, we haven’t changed our approach at all in the past 18 months.

' data-src=

I rather like the posts detailing the benefits of cards many of us already have.

' data-src=

Making it harder for me to give up my Chase Sapphire Reserve.. but I can’t justify the AF.

Review: RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege Card

Josh Bandura Sep 5, 2024 / Avion Rewards , Card Review / Leave a comment

rbc-avion-visa-infinite-privilege-card-review-featured-image

Selecting a premium credit card can be difficult, as the benefits and bonuses increase sizably with many of these cards. While the income requirements and higher annual fee can be a barrier for some consumers, those who are eligible will usually find great value in many of the premium credit cards available to Canadians.

Let’s take a look at what the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card offers to potential cardholders.

Welcome Bonus

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card currently has a welcome bonus in which new cardholders can earn up to 70,000 Avion points :

  • Earn 35,000 Avion points upon approval
  • Earn 20,000 bonus points when you spend $5,000 in your first 6 months
  • Earn 15,000 one-time anniversary bonus points after 12 months of account opening

infinite visa travel insurance

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card earns Avion Elite points and offers cardholders six complimentary airport lounge visits annually.

This offer has an expiry date of Nov 25, 2024 , so ensure you apply prior to that deadline if you are interested in this offer.

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card is a premium credit card, and as a result, has an annual personal or household income requirement of $200,000.

Earning Rates

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card earns Avion Rewards points for all eligible purchases made on the card at the following rates:

  • 1.25 Avion Elite points for every dollar spent on all purchases on the card.

Since the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card earns at the same rate regardless of the purchase category, it can be considered a jack-of-all-trades card and can be a good solution for an individual who wants a simple solution to earning miles and points.

However, if you are interested in optimizing the bonus categories that you are earning on, it isn’t the best card to use as there are other options with much higher earning rates.

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card has an annual fee of $399 .

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card offers a few benefits that cardholders who travel frequently will find value in.

Six Complimentary Airport Lounge Passes

RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege cardholders will receive six complimentary airport lounge passes annually. These passes are issued via the Visa Infinite Privilege program, and they grant access to lounges that are part of the DragonPass lounge program .

infinite visa travel insurance

These passes can be used to grant the cardholder and any guests access to any eligible airport lounge where they can enjoy comfortable seating, free WiFi, and complimentary food and drink (including alcohol).

Airport lounges are the best way to kick off your travel experience, and we recommend all travelers hold a credit card that grants free airport lounge access to improve their next vacation. There are a number of credit cards with various income requirements and annual fees that offer airport lounge access, so do your research into the best card for your personal financial needs if this is a benefit you want to add to your toolkit.

Insurance Coverage

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card offers eleven types of insurance coverage, with many coverages focused on travel. These insurance coverages include:

  • Emergency medical insurance
  • Travel accident insurance
  • Car rental collision and loss damage coverage
  • Trip cancellation insurance
  • Trip interruption insurance
  • Flight delay coverage
  • Lost or stolen baggage insurance
  • Hotel and motel burglary insurance
  • Purchase security
  • Extended warranty coverage
  • Mobile device insurance

Refer to the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege insurance certificate for additional details, including terms and conditions for eligibility.

Redeeming Avion Rewards Points

RBC Avion Rewards is one of the best loyalty programs in Canada, full stop. These points can be redeemed for travel booked with RBC through the air travel redemption schedule, merchandise, and gift cards for average value.

Redeeming your Avion points for flights directly by using the air travel redemption schedule can be a good choice for many, as this redemption method is easy to understand.

Essentially, cardholders can redeem a set amount of Avion points for a round-trip or one-way flight between two cities and their points will cover a maximum ticket price between these two destinations (which does not include taxes and fees). The maximum ticket price varies based on the pairing of cities within the itinerary.

However, from our perspective, the real value of the Avion Rewards program lies in their frequent flyer program transfer partners. Members who hold an eligible RBC credit card can transfer their Avion Rewards points to WestJet Rewards , British Airways Avios , Cathay Pacific Asia Miles , and American Airlines AAdvantage for flight reward redemptions within those frequent flyer programs.

qatar airways first class 777-300er seat overview

This is easily the best way to get the most value out of your points, especially if you want to travel internationally in business class or first class. The Frugal Flyer team has transferred Avion Rewards points to frequent flyer programs to book aspirational flights such as Qatar Airways First Class , Japan Airlines Business Class , and much more.

Comparable Credit Cards

If you are interested in seeing what other credit cards compare to the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege credit card, there are a few other options that are worth considering before making your decision.

RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite card is a great option for the individual who is interested in a card that earns Avion points but can’t currently meet the income requirements of the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card or for someone who doesn’t want to pay a higher annual fee.

infinite visa travel insurance

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite card earns Avion Elite points and gives cardholders the opportunity to earn 1.25x Avion Elite points  on all travel purchases. In 2024, we awarded this card as the Best Flexible Points Travel Credit Card.

Check out our RBC Avion Visa Infinite card review for more details.

The RBC Avion Visa Infinite card has an annual fee of $120 and earns 1.25 Avion points per dollar spent on all travel purchases, and 1 Avion point per dollar spent on all other purchases.

Most importantly, the RBC Avion Visa Infinite card still has access to the same valuable transfer partners, including WestJet Rewards, British Airways Avios, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, and American Airlines AAdvantage.

If you don’t meet the income requirements of the RBC Avion Visa Infinite card, the RBC Avion Visa Platinum card can be a good option as well.

Scotiabank Platinum American Express Card

The Scotiabank Platinum American Express card is a similar premium credit card option worth considering as this card has many benefits and an annual fee that are comparable to those offered on the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card.

infinite visa travel insurance

The Scotiabank Platinum American Express card earns Scene+ Rewards points and offers cardholders benefits such as no foreign transaction fees and ten complimentary airport lounge access passes annually.

Check out our Scotiabank Platinum American Express card review for more details.

The Scotiabank Platinum American Express card also has an annual fee of $399 and earns 2 Scene+ points per dollar spent, regardless of category. The card also offers 10 complimentary airport lounge passes that can be used at Priority Pass and Plaza Premium airport lounges for the cardholder and their guests.

Scene+ Rewards points are anchored at a value of one cent per point, and they can easily be redeemed against travel and grocery purchases. Finally, the Scotiabank Platinum American Express card does offer no foreign transaction fees as a benefit , which is a rare and valuable benefit offered on only a few credit cards in Canada.

There are only a handful of premium credit cards in Canada, so it is definitely worth exploring all your options before applying. The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege card is a good choice if you are interested in participating in the Avion Rewards program and value having access to airport lounges during your travels.
