Stackpole Under the Stars

  • Safari Tent Glamping

Safari Tent glamping is ideal for those who love camping under canvas but don’t want to pack everything but the kitchen sink to go on holiday. Our spacious off-grid Safari Tents sleep up to seven people, with two separate bedrooms and a sofa bed. It’s all the fun of camping, but someone else puts in the hard work.

Available from Easter to mid-September

Tents with lush buttercups

About our safari tents

Safari Tent glamping is the largest accommodation we offer. Both our tents sleep up to seven people. Each has two separated bedroom compartments, one with a double bed and the other with a triple-sleeper bunk bed (two on the bottom, one on the top!). There is also a double sofa bed in the main living area.

There are two bedding options for our glamping accommodation: The Eco Package and the Luxury Package. With our Eco Package – which we encourage as a Greener Camping Club site because it cuts down on the huge amount of laundry we do – we provide one coverless double or single duvet and one mattress protector per bed, plus two coverless pillows per person (double bed) and one per person (single bed). You just bring your own double/single sheets, pillow cases and double/single duvet covers – no bulky items to pack in the car! With our Luxury Package, we provide all the bedding (no need to bring anything) and an extra charge per bed applies.

We provide just-in-case hot water bottles and blankets (there is no heating so if you stay in early spring or September and really feel the cold, feel free to bring an extra blanket of your own!). There are solar fairy lights and several battery-powered lanterns to light your evenings. The Safari Tents are off-grid but come with a solar power pack for charging small devices.

The main living area includes a small food preparation area, storage cupboards and a dining table and chairs. You’ll also find all the pans, crockery and cutlery you’ll need. A substantial cool box is provided and ice packs replenished daily.

Outside the Safari Tents have a canvas-covered front deck with picnic table, perfect for sitting out with your favourite tipple and gazing out at the sunset. Here you’ll find a double gas hob for cooking. A hand-forged fire bowl with grill rack and hot plate means you can perfect that flame-cooked breakfast outdoors or an evening barbecue and sit around the crackling fire underneath the starry Stackpole sky. We’ll provide you with a starter fire-bowl kit, including a basket of logs, kindling and natural firelighters. You can buy more on site as and when you need them (we also sell local charcoal). Finally, just to make sure you feel totally relaxed, there is a tarp-covered hammock alongside your pitch.

Outdoor chairs are also provided.

Our tents really are a home from home with their two separate bedrooms leading off the lounge.

The luxury toilets and showers and the washroom are just across the field, and the compost loo is tucked into the corner, so you’re never far from the facilities. You’ll need to bring your own towels and toiletries, and we recommend bringing slippers with you to feel truly at home.

What's the difference between the safari tents?

The tents are identical! No matter which safari tent you choose, rest assured that both Bluebell and Foxglove offer an equally luxurious and unforgettable stay.  Both tents have been meticulously designed and crafted to provide the same level of comfort, elegance, and attention to detail. From the moment you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a blend of high-end interiors, plush furnishings, and modern amenities. Whether you opt for Bluebell or Foxglove, you can expect a truly exceptional glamping experience with all the indulgences and comforts you desire. Book your stay with confidence, knowing that whichever tent you select, your getaway will be nothing short of extraordinary.

How far apart are the tents?

At our retreat, we have taken great care to ensure that each safari tent offers a private and secluded experience. While the tents are located next to each other, we have intentionally planted an abundance of trees, shrubs, and bushes, along with strategically placed wooden screens, to create a natural barrier that enhances the privacy of each individual tent. These thoughtful design elements allow you to fully immerse yourself in the tranquillity of your own secluded oasis. You can relax and unwind with the peace of mind that your privacy is respected and cherished.

A night time image of the milky way and night sky above a safar ient with the last of the light in the sky

Our five fully equipped safari tents make the most of our amazing westward views

You will find our five luxurious safari tents Seren (with it own wood-fired hot tub), Afon, Aderyn, Enfys and Dyffryn (meaning star, river, bird, rainbow and valley) nestled into the hillside of our 11 acre smallholding in West Wales.

Each tent sleeps up to 6, perfect for a glamping holiday with families and friends alike, but cosy enough for just two of you .

Enfys and Dyffryn are our most accessible glamping tents with attached wet-rooms and a number of other accessibility features.  A brief summary is below and more details can be found in our accessibility section.

We welcome group bookings and are happy to host celebrations on site.  Find out more about taking over the site.

Seren comes with a wood-fired hot tub so you can take in the sunset and stargaze from the hot tub.

We welcome well-behaved dogs in all our tents.

Campfires are very welcome on the site and each tent has it's own fire pit and cooking tripod.

About the Safari Tents

All of our safari tents have a spacious living area with a cosy wood burning range cooker,  leather sofa, upcycling industrial dining table, benches and chairs as well as a coffee table and games box.

There is a fully equipped, handcrafted kitchen in each of the tents including a sink with running water, a fridge, a single ring gas burner and a lovely 8kw Chilli Penguin log burning stove with oven and hot plate.  The kitchens come with all pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and glasses.

The safari tents come with mains lighting and a USB charging point. Enfys and Dyffryn have 3-pin sockets for wheelchair charging and for medical equipment.

Enfys and Dyffrn are 1m wider than our other tents, have a roll under sink and pull out work tops.

Seren, Afon and Aderyn each have 2 bedrooms, one double (with a king sized bed) and one twin room, as well as a handcrafted cabin bed (a double) which is situated just off of the living area.  The bedrooms are all equipped with extra blankets and hot water bottles.

The inside of Afon safari tent at night

Last but by no means least the tents have private flushing toilets and hand basins (showers are located just across the field).

Enfys and Dyffryn also have 2 rooms, one with a super king bed (which can be split into singles), a twin room with bunk beds as well as a double cabin bed. Enfys and Dyffryn also come with an attached accessible wet-room.  Detailed specifications can be found in our accessibility section .

Outside all of the tents there is a covered deck area with seating to make the most of the incredible views, there is also a separate picnic table and fire pit for alfresco dining and cooking.

One of the most common questions we get asked about the safari tents is 'but how like camping is it?' . So we wrote this blog to answer that question.

Guest Reviews

Amazing location and lovely owners.

"This was our second visit and it is just the loveliest spot to escape to. The safari tents are really well equipped but still enough required for you to feel like you are off the grid!! We sat out on the terrace and watched the sun set after cooking out on the fire pit, then stargazing with glass of wine in hand, doesn't get much better than this. The owners couldn't be more friendly or more accommodating, Dan and Ellie make you feel they really care that your stay is exactly what you want it to be."

Outstanding!

"Fantastic set up from start to finish, a beautiful place with outstanding facilities The attention to detail is something else, I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a peaceful break , the children did not want to go home , they loved the animals and thought the tents were amazing, Dan and Ellie work very hard to deliver a Top end product which was faultless, a truly fantastic weekend break, we will 200 percent be going back thank you !!!!!"

Best memories made with friends

"We are a group of 5 families who hired all 5 Safari Tents for a much needed holiday and time away from everyday life. The site was perfect we range in age from 6 to 50 and it has something for all of us, from a communal campfire to pigs who love a tickle. The tents were spotless, roomy, well appointed with everything we needed. Our 13 year old son stayed in 'The Cupboard' and proclaimed it was the comfiest bed he'd ever slept in and is now fashioning his own 'Cupboard' at home! Our hosts Dan and Ellie and their two children were just brilliant so knowledgeable about the surrounding area we enjoyed every single moment, from secret beaches to just hanging out cooking over the fire and catching up over some JD! We are already planning our next trip, it was just perfect."

Wonderful place to stay!

"We had a fantastic 2 night break in one of Dan and Ellie's African Safari Tents earlier this week. Such a different experience, and one which our children will remember for ever, I'm sure. The tent was immaculate and very well equipped with everything we could have possibly needed. We don't live very far from here, and so was a real staycation; the site was a great base for us to visit some parts of our own county we'd never been to before. Thank you to the whole family, Dan, Ellie, Lyra and Isis, for being wonderful hosts."

This unique corner of the United Kingdom (like Scotland and England , Wales is one of the constituent states that make up Great Britain) has rugged landscapes and a distinct culture that set it apart from the rest of the country. Booking a stay at a glamping site is a great way to get off the beaten path and experience this incredible region—and Wales has plenty of enticing stays to choose from.

First, a little geography: Wales covers just over 8,000 square miles (an area smaller than Massachusetts), but the Welsh countryside includes a striking diversity of landscapes, from towering mountains to river valleys, rolling hills, wild meadows, and seaside cliffs. There are two main mountain ranges in Wales: the Brecon Beacons in the south, and Snowdonia in the northwest (home to Snowdon, which reaches 3,560 feet and is the region’s highest peak). These mountains are protected by Brecon Beacons and Snodownia national parks , and they’re both top destinations for hiking.

snowdonia-pete-elliott-cadair-idris-4

Prefer some salty sea air? Head to the Pembrokeshire Coast to scramble around caves, cliffs, and beaches. The activity is an actual Welsh sport known as coasteering , invented by intrepid surfers in the 1980s. You can also stretch your legs on the Welsh Coast Path , which meanders 870 miles along the shore and connects all kinds of great destinations, including Chepstow (the oldest surviving post-Roman stone castle in Britain) the urban center of Cardiff (the Welsh capital), the beaches of Pembrokeshire, and more. Paddlers can go kayaking in the picturesque Wye Valley (a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and further north, you can even take a boat ride across a soaring aqueduct that spans the River Dee.

Wales has been inhabited since the Stone Age so its cultural roots run deep. The region has notable Celtic literary flair: the Welsh language enjoyed a revival in the late 20th century, and the tradition of Welsh heroic poetry dates back to the 6th century and is still going strong . If you like architecture and history, definitely make time to visit some castles—Wales has 641, more per square mile than any other country in Europe.

Spring is a great time to visit (the flowers are in bloom), and fall is ideal if you want to avoid summer crowds. Whenever you go, expect rain. Wales receives lots of precipitation year-round, and higher elevations get snow in the winter.

13 Best Glamping Sites in Wales for an Unforgettable Holiday

glamping-wales-nantseren

Nantseren Glamping — Llanddeusant, Carmarthenshire, UK

Vibe: glamping for groups.

Located within Brecon Beacons National Park, Nantseren's luxury glamping site has four canvas safari tents—book them all if you’re traveling in a group—scattered along a stream in a secluded meadow. Each tent sleeps four and includes a small deck area with patio furniture along with an off-site shower and toilet. The shared kitchen and common space (housed in a converted barn) offer a cozy spot to lounge on rainy days, and there’s a hot tub if you really want to unwind. But adventure waits just beyond the property: the waterfalls, swimming holes, hiking trails, and mountain peaks of Brecon Beacons are nearly at your doorstep.

Rate: £ 400/night

glamping-wales-graid-wen

Graig Wen — Nr Dolgellau, Gwynedd UK

Vibe: glamping with options.

No matter how you like to camp (or glamp), there’s an option for you at Graig Wen: This traveler-friendly farmstead offers several yurts (including two hand-built with locally sourced wood), a shepherd’s hut, two quarry wagons, and a bell tent, as well as numerous sites for traditional tent camping. Our pick? The Jones Shepherd’s Hut, a tastefully appointed wagon that sleeps four and includes a kitchenette and a small dining area. Campers have access to hot showers and toilets, and there’s even a small “camp shop” with snacks and beer for sale (there's also Wifi at reception). The sprawling property covers 45 acres of woods and meadows and offers views of the Mawddach Estuary, but the best part of this listing is what lies beyond. The glampsite is located within North Wales' Snowdonia National Park, so stellar hiking is close by, and you can ride your bike to access beaches along the coast.

Rate: Starting at £ 80/night

glamping-wales-ty-barcud

Ty Barcud — Trawscoed, Ceredigion, UK

Vibe: wake up to a view.

This wooden glamping pod has a Mid Wales location that’s hard to beat. It’s the only glampsite on the property, and it offers sweeping views of a wooded river valley—enjoy them from inside, through the pod’s massive circular window, or outside on the spacious deck. The hideaway includes a comfy bed, a toilet, a shower, and a small kitchen area, as well as a swing and fire pit for outdoor lounging (visitors also get a complimentary basket of local produce). Want to get out and explore? The charming town of Aberystwyth is just a 20-minute drive away; head into town to explore its beach, castle, and picturesque harbor.

Rate: £ 105/night

glamping-wales-bach-wen

Bach Wen Farm — Caernarfon, Gwynedd, UK

Vibe: between the mountains and the sea.

Bach Wen Farm offers two rustic camping pods with a pretty ideal location: sandwiched between the sea and the foothills of Snowdonia National Park. The wooden pods are simple—just a double bed with a mini kitchenette and a wood-burning stove—but they have a secluded feel and stellar views of the countryside and the water. They're also dog-friendly, so bring your dog along on your getaway if you like. Snowdonia is within driving distance, but you can also walk to a cobblestone beach, an ancient burial chamber site, and the Wales Coast Path.

Rate: £ 60/night

glamping-wales-celtic-woodland-holidays

Celtic Woodland Holidays — Maesmynis, Powys, UK

Vibe: glamping x hostel.

This glamping compound is located smack in the middle of Wales in the county of Powys, and Brecon Beacons National park is less than an hour’s drive away. The wooded seven-acre site includes five solar-powered, wigwam-style glamping pods that the owner built himself using local timber and sheep’s wool insulation (there’s also a larger treehouse that sleeps six). Each pod features a wood-burning stove, large windows, and a generous porch for lounging and taking in the views. While you’ll have your own place to sleep and relax, the shared common spaces are enticing: in addition to hot showers, there’s an air hockey table, a cold-plunge shower, and a wood-fired sauna for a fully unique glamping experience.

glamping-wales-away-from-it-all-domes

Away From It All Domes — Llwyndyrys, Gwynedd, UK

Vibe: geometric glamping.

Want a taste of Welsh farm life? Away From It All Domes is an ideal choice. This North Wales property is set centrally on the Llŷn Peninsula and has easy driving access to the many beaches and seaside towns along Bae Ceredigion. It features three geodesic dome-like glamping tents scattered around a working farm. Each one sleeps four and features a wood-burning stove, a decked patio, a picnic table, a fire pit, and a BBQ for whipping up meals (there are shared shower-kitchen-toilet facilities as well). Wake up and enjoy your morning coffee from the deck, and be sure to grab supplies for breakfast—the owners encourage guests to collect fresh eggs from the farm.

Rate: Starting at £160/night

glamping-wales-frankshore-shepherds-hut

Frankshore Shepherds Hut — Penally, Pembrokeshire, UK

Vibe: live like a shepherd.

Shepherds' huts are relics of Britain’s agricultural past, when many farms relied on flocks of sheep to fertilize the fields—and shepherds to watch over them. The sturdy hut on wheels gave the shepherd a place to rest and eat while moving between fields and pastures with the flock. This one has been lovingly renovated into a cozy hideaway for a unique glamping holiday. The handsome green corrugated metal exterior gives way to a nicely finished interior with white wooden walls, a wood stove, a small kitchen, a bed, and your own private bathroom. Curl up on the bed with a book, enjoy a bonfire outside in the fire pit (the hosts provide complimentary firewood), or get to know the bovine neighbors—the hut is surrounded by cow pasture. For adventures farther afield, the town of Tenby is minutes away, there are plenty of beaches on the nearby South Wales coastline, and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a 45-minute drive.

Rate: £ 120/night

glamping-wales-gwalia-farm

Gwalia Farm — Cemmaes, Powys, UK

Vibe: quiet lakeside retreat.

While many Welsh glampsites are set on farms, this cabin offers a wilder, more secluded setting tucked into the woods beside a small lake. The decor is spartan, but the cabin does offer a double bed with a comfy down-filled duvet, an outdoor kitchen, and a wood stove to ward off the cold on chilly nights. (There’s also a composting toilet and an outdoor shower.) Chill out with a beer on the deck, soak in the private wood-fired hot tub, or hop in the canoe and explore the lake.

Rate: Starting at £ 250/night

glamping-wales-penhein-glamping

Penhein Glamping — Llanvair Discoed, Monmouthshire, UK

Vibe: a taste of persia in wales.

The family-run Penhein glampsite is near the border and offers eight beautifully decorated alachigh tents, a type of tent traditionally used by the nomadic Shahsavan people in Iran. These large domed tents have high ceilings and a central skylight (perfect for stargazing as you fall asleep) that washes the interior in natural light. They also feature running water and ensuite kitchens and flush toilets. Traveling with kids or in a group? You’re in luck—each tent can sleep up to five people. All the tents have the same layout, but we’d opt for the Cae Solomon, Castroggi, or The Park tents, which have their own private showers. The other tents utilize shared shower spaces.

Rate: Starting at £ 345/2 nights (rates vary depending on tent and number of nights)

glamping-wales-hangoed-treehouse

Hengoed — Cemmaes, Powys, UK

Vibe: hobbit house in the trees.

It’s hard to beat sleeping high above the ground and waking up amid the leaves and branches of a forest, and that’s exactly what you’ll get at Hengoed, a glamping compound set in northern Powys in Mid Wales. This adults-only glamping site has six treehouses. With their circular windows and natural tree limb furniture and columns, they’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped into the world of J.R.R. Tolkien. Each one has a dedicated living and dining space with a kitchen, an outdoor terrace for taking in the views, and a private hot shower and composting toilet. Be warned: they’re only accessible via a short hike, but the trek is worth it.

Rate: Starting at £ 127/night

glamping-wales-the-cabins-conwy

The Cabins Conwy — Conwy, UK

Vibe: cabin and castle.

These rough-hewn cabins in North Wales are definitely rustic, but the simple interiors are tidy and they offer everything you need for a pleasant stay: a double bed, a galley kitchen with a sink, stove, and refrigerator, and a composting toilet in a separate on-site outhouse. They’re set on a 3.5-acre property that the owners have carefully rewilded—ideal for wildlife viewing—and Conwy Castle is located just three miles away.

Rate: Starting at £ 115/night

glamping-wales-damselfly-hut

Damselfly — Boncath, Pembrokeshire, UK

Vibe: glamping times two.

The Damselfly gives glampers the chance to sprawl out across two tastefully renovated shepherd’s huts—both handbuilt by the owner. In one hut, there’s a comfy double bed, woodstove, and lounge chair, and in the other, there’s a kitchen and private bathroom with a toilet and sink. This is a great pick for camp chefs—in addition to the typical fire pit and grill, guests also have access to an outdoor pizza oven. There's lots to do nearby, from exploring beaches, walking the Golden Road track, kayaking, fishing, and more.

Rate: Starting at £ 77/night

glamping-wales-castaway-cabin

Castaway — Llanthony, Monmouthshire, UK

Vibe: carriage to cabin.

Ever wanted to spend the night in an old boxcar? The Castaway glampsite sure makes it look appealing. Located on the eastern edge of Brecon Beacons National Park, this cabin consists of two former railroad cars that have been converted into one stylish living space. The cabin features rich wooden surfaces throughout, and the amenities list is long—king-size bed, ensuite bathroom, full kitchen with fridge and freezer, deck with leather deckchairs, fire pit, and even an underfloor heating system (but no wifi or cell service). While it might be tempting to lounge inside, make sure you venture out after dark—the cabin sits inside the Llanthony Valley Dark Sky Reserve, so the stargazing should be incredible.

"Family loved the tents. A lot warmer than expected with under floor heating and heaters in every room. Decking area is an added bonus was great to sit put and enjoy the view and peace an quiet. Was shocked to also find a safe that you can use to keep valuables in. Nothing is too much trouble either."

"We adored our stay at Twiga Tents, it was far beyond our expectation of glamping. All attention to detail and little homely touches made it extra special. A perfect accommodation and destination for young or large family. The prices cannot be beaten in terms of value once you account for everything!"

NightSky Glamping

Image of the land

The charms of beachside Abersoch village on the Welsh Llŷn Peninsula are such that its population swells by a staggering 30 times in the busiest weeks of summer. If you’ve yet to pay this place a visit, you might be wondering what all the fuss is about. Let us explain; sandy beaches, beautiful sunsets, starry night skies, a laid-back atmosphere and a healthy restaurant scene all within easy reach of Snowdonia National Park. Need we say more? All you need now is a place to stay that puts you in reach of the attractions but away from the crowds... all you need is NightSky Glamping.

This glamping-only site with five bell tents, seven safari tents and a herd of alpacas is a 30-minute walk, or a two-minute drive, from the village and its beach. The tented accommodation offers a new way to stay in an area that’s traditionally attracted the caravan and holiday cottage crew. NightSky falls somewhere between the two; with the self-catering facilities you’d expect from a cottage and the outdoor space of a campsite. Crucially though, it’s got glamping down to a T with a hot tub, a kitchen, a shower and a toilet at every tent. In fact, the six-person safari tents have two loos a piece.

Each tent also has its own decked area where, alongside that all-important hot tub, you’ll find a barbecue and chiminea. It’s the perfect place to watch the sun go down and to see what inspired site owners, Angie and Derek, to name their site NightSky. They’d probably also say it’s a place to escape what they fondly call the “midsummer madness” of Abersoch. They know it well, having only fairly recently made the move from being one of the many who visit to one of the few who stay. Greater champions of this area would be hard to find.

While Abersoch is the nearest village, just a mile-and-a-half away, there is another beach that’s even closer. Wilder (by both name and nature) Hell’s Mouth beach is good for blustery walks and surfing. And it’s not the only one, the Llŷn Peninsula is surrounded by glorious sandy beaches with a coastal path (and a handy bus service) linking the lot. You could fill your days here with walking, watersports and wildlife-watching but Llŷn is not called Snowdon’s Arm for nothing. All this coastal charm is also just 20 miles from the edge of Snowdonia National Park and the adventures that lie within.

Avatar

Hosted by Night Sky G.

Off site, the closest beach, Porth Neigwl or Hell’s Mouth, is just over a mile away and known for good surf. For a more sheltered beach, head in the other direction off site, for a couple of miles to reach Abersoch main beach. Sailing lessons, kayak and paddleboard hire are all available from Abersoch Sailing School (07917 525540). There’s also another sandy beach four miles up the road at Llanbedrog where you can also head out on walks through heath and woodland. The walk up Mynydd Tir y Cwmwd to the Tin Man sculpture is recommended for beautiful views over Cardigan Bay. The Llŷn Peninsula Coastal Path is an easy route for walkers. Further afield, Pwllheli, the main town on the peninsula is about 8 miles away, Criccieth with its coastal castle is 16 miles away, Porthmadog is 21 miles away with the edge of Snowdonia National Park just beyond that.

There’s a local shop just 200 metres away which sells all the basics. The closest pub is The Sun Inn (01758 712660), just a mile away, which serves good food. There are lots of bars, restaurants and shops in Abersoch village. For a sundowner overlooking the harbour, try Zinc Bar and Restaurant (01758 713433), for pizza there’s Crust Pizzeria (01758 712896) and for something a bit fancier, perhaps try The Dining Room (01758 740709). Further afield, a trip to the Ty Coch Inn (01758 720498) in Porthdinllaen is recommended – it’s the best beach bar in the world – according to some. Food is only served at lunchtime.

Glamping south wales: 37 amazing places you need to stay [2024].

If you’re looking to go glamping in South Wales then you’ve come to the right place!

I know the area like the back of my hand and  I’m a bit of a glamping expert, which means I’m well placed to run you through all the best glamping holidays in South Wales.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic retreat, a family holiday, or a getaway with friends, I’ve got you covered.

So from treehouses and safari tents to geodomes and shepherds huts, here are 37 amazing glamping holidays in South Wales.

1. Trewalter Treehouse

swinging-seat-outside-trewalter-treehouse-in-field-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £209 for 2 people

Location:  Llangorse, nr Brecon

Let’s kick off this list with one of my all-time favourite places to go glamping in South Wales: Trewalter Treehouse .

It’s safe to say I’m a sucker for treehouses and the beautiful Trewalter is no exception.

It’s seriously worth every single penny!

Inside it feels like a cross between a castle and a church, but with a fitted kitchen with a dishwasher, an extra-large walk-in shower, a SMART TV, Wi-Fi, and more.

The luxury even extends past the treehouse because outside you’ll also discover a wood-fired hot tub, two raised terraces, and a hanging bench which would make the perfect spot for your morning coffee.

Basically, this place is heaven on earth and if you can afford a stay here, please book it!

What guests say:  “Trewalter Treehouse could not be more amazing. The treehouse itself is absolutely stunning. It really does need to be seen to be believed. The location is just beautiful. Nici and John were the perfect hosts. Extremely friendly and helpful and we just couldn’t have asked for anything more. The little treats around the place were so lovely to come across and there were just so many little touches. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.”

2. Wanderoo Truck

a-truck-glamping-cabin-with-decking-in-green-field-with-rolling-hills-in-background-wanderoo-pentre-naboth-in-brecon

Price per night: From £100 for 2 people

Location: Libanus, nr Brecon

Now, I think I’ll start this one off by stating the obvious: look at those views!

Sat at the top of a steep hill, among the rolling hills of South Wales, you won’t find many views dreamier than the one from their hot tub.

Keen hikers will be in their element as the truck boasts views of Pen-y-Fan and the Black Mountains.

And there are miles of outstanding hiking trails all around.

The truck itself is a converted horsebox with twin balconies, a hot tub and a huge king-size bed that you could just melt into!

Wanderoo stays warm and toasty all year round thanks to its sheep’s wool insulation and efficient wood burner.

But the truck is still light and airy with two sets of floor-to-ceiling glass doors letting in plenty of light.

What guests say:  “Absolutely inspiring. The setting captures you more every day you are there. Kathryn was a great host who supplied an ample breakfast basket. After two days of a lot of walking, the hot tub was a blessed relief. Also, the views from the hot tub were amazing, one way the black mountains and the other across the valley. We had two clear nights and the star gazing was excellent.”

3. Argoed Barns Geodomes

inside-a-geodome-glamping-site-with-sofa-double-bed-and-wood-burner-argoed-barns-brecon-powys

Price per night: From £103 for 2 people

Location: Brecon, Powys

This dog-friendly hideaway is the perfect place for couples to retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, amongst some of Wales’ best scenery.

The Brecon Beacons, Hay Bluff and the Black Mountains are all on your doorstep.

So you can choose whether to get out in nature, just relax in your bubble, or do a bit of both!

Argoed Barns  have two beautifully decorated geodomes on-site, Seren Bach and Seren Mawr.

Both are well equipped with a double ring gas hob and a kitchen sink, and a self-composting loo, washbasin and gas-powered shower just outside the dome.

And of course, you’ll also find a wood-fired hot tub to soak in with your loved one in the Dark Sky Reserve.

Could stargazing get any dreamier than this? I think not!

What guests say:  “Our stay at the dome at Argoed was absolutely amazing! The location of the dome was on top of the hill which provided the most amazing views which we would happily soak up whilst sitting in the perfect hot tub! Everything about this holiday was perfect and I could not recommend it enough to anyone looking for a romantic stay in somewhere a little bit different!”

4. Medley Meadow Safari Tents

Price per night:  From £150 for 6 people

Location: Llanvair Kilgeddin, Monmouthshire

Fancy feeling like you’re sleeping on the plains of South Africa when really it’s just little old Wales?

Yes? Well, Medley Meadow Safari Tents will transport you far from the UK (you just can’t guarantee the weather!).

These modern, furnished safari tents are some of the most luxurious safari tents I’ve ever seen.

Built on a large timber deck with a canvas shell and wooden interior walls, they comprise a fully-equipped kitchen and spacious living area, two bedrooms, and a private bathroom with a hot shower.

Each tent also benefits from electric sockets, cosy lighting, and a wood-burning stove!

Yep, they really are that luxurious.

What guests say:   “We had the most wonderful stay here. Andy and Mark were very welcoming and friendly hosts and the setting was peaceful and relaxing and felt really authentic for a glamping experience. The canvas chalets had everything that you needed – comfortable beds, wood-burning stove, kitchen, good shower – it was so cosy and comfortable. Outside we lit a fire pit and roasted marshmallows – what more could you want!”

5. The 76er Airstream

silver-the-76er-airstream-on-decking-with-seating-area

Price per night:  From £75 for 2 people

Location: Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire

So you’ve travelled to South Africa thanks to the Medley Meadow Safari Tents but now it’s time to travel back in time to America.

The 76er Airstream is as cool an accommodation option as they come.

Nestled in a private dell in a quiet corner of the Towy Valley, the airstream is set in a peaceful pocket of South Wales countryside.

But even if the weather’s not on your side, you’ll feel more than comfortable hidden away in the airstream.

It comprises a king-sized double bed, a DVD TV, and a kitchen and living area with a small dining table and sofa.

Next door you’ll find a shower room housing a Swedish compost loo and a hot shower, and nearby there’s an outdoor bath for a real nature experience!

What guests say: “What an amazing place! We felt like we were in our own little world. Loved the swing and outdoor bath but just as good to cosy up inside while a storm raged outside. The sound of rain on the metal was a real experience. Well kitted out – we had everything we needed and the decor was charming. Absolutely loved it and would return without hesitation.”

6. Gwdihŵ Shepherds Hut

gwdihŵ-shepherds-hut-surrounded-by-trees-in-field

Price per night:  From £85 for 4 people

Location: Bonvilston, nr Cardiff

If you don’t agree that Gwdihŵ Shepherds Hut is one of the cutest things you’ve ever seen in your life, I’m not sure we can be friends.

This adorable little hut is surprisingly spacious, sleeping up to four people.

However, at only £85 a night it’s still ideal for a romantic getaway for two!

Climb the solid oak steps to the stable door, take a peek in, and you’ll discover a kitchenette, double bed, bunk bed, and an en-suite shower room.

All of this is cocooned in a blanket of sheep wool insulation and is accompanied by a wood-burning stove, keeping the hut snug if the weather’s not on your side.

What guests say:   “The most wonderfully relaxing weekend hibernating from the world. This was the perfect place to escape – we read our books in front of the fire, we played games at the dining table, we cooked our dinners in the kitchenette and honestly didn’t want to ever leave. It also gave us a base to explore Cardiff and the surrounding beautiful countryside.”

7. Hidden Valley Yurts

large-yurt-on-decking-on-sunny-day-at-hidden-valley-yurts-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £67 for 5 people or £74 for 7 people

Location: Llanishen, Chepstow

Hidden Valley Yurts is one of my favourite places to go glamping in South Wales for those views alone.

I mean, can you imagine waking up, stepping outside, and enjoying your morning coffee from your private decking while soaking up the views of the wildflower meadow?

Sounds pretty idyllic, doesn’t it?

On-site you’ll find five fully-furnished and beautifully painted Mongolian yurts, three of which sleep up to seven people, and two of which sleep up to five people.

The yurts are all wonderfully unique in their own way but they all benefit from the same amazing facilities.

I also can’t get enough of the communal eating area with a wood-burning pizza oven, communal BBQ, safari-style dining tent and central campfire with seating around!

What guests say: “I cannot recommend this amazing place enough. We were six adults a three-year-old and a six-month baby. We stayed in yurts 1 and 2, so had our own kitchen, loo and safari shower, it was perfect. Our stay was everything we had hoped for… we relaxed, walked, played in the stream, built a den in the woods, make pizzas, had a BBQ, watched beautiful sunsets, painted rocks and so much more. The memories we made are priceless!”

8. Penhein Alachigh Tents

living-and-kitchen-area-inside-penhein-glamping-alachigh-tent-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £100 for 5 people

Location: Llanvair Discoed, nr Chepstow

Penhein Alachigh Tents are beautifully decorated, and although it says ‘tents’ in their name, Penhein is far from camping.

If you want a glamping holiday in South Wales that feels more like a luxurious holiday home, then this it.

These custom-made Persian tents have a high, domed ceiling and are fully furnished with elegant interiors, comfy beds, a well-equipped kitchen, a wooden dining table, and a cosy wood-burning stove.

And bathing is a similar story!

With Mandarin Stone tiles, underfloor heating, hot monsoon showers and a Victorian roll-top bath, it doesn’t get much more luxurious than this.

What guests say: “Absolutely gorgeous, comfortable glamping in the woods. Tranquil, beautiful and every detail thought of including a warm welcome, local food products and a luxurious bathtub on site! Would suit pretty much all demographics. The extra bonus is the private toilet attached to your pod which prevents chilly toilet runs! Wish we could have stayed longer…”

9. Celtic Woodland Holidays Pods

the-celyn-cabin-with-decking-in-woodland-at-celtic-woodland-holidays

Price per night:  From £28 for 2 people

Location: Builth Wells, Powys

If you don’t want to splash the cash, Celtic Woodland Holidays Pods is one of the best ways to go glamping in South Wales on a budget.

From just £14 a night each you can go glamping in style with your loved one.

But don’t worry if Celtic Woodland has caught your eye but you want to go glamping with more people because there are six pods and  a treehouse on-site, sleeping between two and six people.

They’re all special in their own way but they all mutually benefit from a kitchen and living area, beds, a log burner, an outdoor deck and BBQ area, and of course, some amazing views!

Oh and if that wasn’t enough there’s also an on-site honesty shop and woodland sauna. How dreamy!

What guests say:   “Such a beautiful retreat in the Welsh hills. The pods are so well laid out and with a spotlessly clean games room, kitchen, shower block and toilets just at the end of a short path that is lit at night. The gorgeous little log burner in the pod was perfect to keep us toasty warm and it was stunning to look at the starry night sky, listening to the wind while you’re cosy in bed. We spent some time in the games room, shooting pool with the TV on in the background.”

10. Danyfan Carriage

rustic-danyfan-carriage-by-trees-in-field

Price per night:  From £82 for 2 people

Location: Cwmgwdi, Brecon

If you want a more rustic glamping experience, Danyfan Carriage will be right up your street!

This charming converted railway carriage is the perfect base for a romantic getaway for two.

(I mean, I definitely wouldn’t have any complaints about cosying up in the carriage with a loved one!)

Alongside the bed, kitchenette and wood-burning stove, the interior is full of quirky touches because almost everything inside has been upcycled.

And to top it all off, there’s even a lovely welcome hamper of goodies awaiting your arrival, including homemade sourdough bread and brownies, and locally produced bacon, butter, eggs, and milk.

What guests say:   “We stayed in the carriage for two nights over a very sunny weekend in this beautiful, rustic setting. Emma had prepared a delicious lamb tagine, salad & rice for us upon arrival (£20), along with the complimentary treats. In regard to cutlery and toiletries, everything you need is already here, making for an easy glamping experience. The bed, bedsheets and pillows are gorgeous, as is the decor of the train carriage.”

11. Bugail Hut at Hide at St Donats

interior-of-bugail-hut-at-hide-at-st-donats-with-bed-and-living-area-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £100 for 2 people

Location:  St Donats, nr Barry

Bugail Hut at Hide at St Donats is easily one of the most romantic places to go glamping in South Wales.

I almost feel like you’d weirdly enjoy a stay here more on a stormy day than a sunny day.

Just picture yourselves cosied up in bed with the wood burner roaring beside you.

Plus, the large windows definitely allow you to appreciate the outdoors from inside, even when it’s raining.

However, if the weather is on your side, you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Bugail Hut from your private terrace or fire pit area.

Breakfast alfresco, anyone?

What guests say:   “Quite and peaceful stay. Surrounded by nature yet close enough to all amenities. Huts are incredibly clean and tidy. Provided with everything you need including breakfast delivery. Had a great night next to the fire pit and BBQ for tea. The hosts are incredibly helpful and friendly. Huts with attention to details and luxury finishes.”

12. Hide at St Donats Cabans

hide-at-st-donats-caban-with-bed-stove-and-table

Location: St Donats, nr Barry

If Bugail Hut caught your eye but you’re looking for slightly more space to spread yourselves across, why not consider a stay in one of Hide at St Donats’ Cabans ?

Set on the same site as Bugail Hut, you’ll enjoy all the same scenery but in slightly alternative accommodation. There are three individually handmade cabans to choose from.

Each has its merits but they all benefit from the same beautiful surroundings and their own terrace, private bathroom, and kitchenette.

And the best bit is that they are all discretely positioned twenty metres from each other so you can enjoy your privacy!

What guests say:   “It was absolutely perfect and just what we needed. To just get away from it all and be in our own little space was amazing. The bathroom area was so lovely – we even bought some of the soap as a memory to have in our first home together. Every little detail was spot on, the perfect combination between outdoorsy and modern.”

13. Pantechnicon Powys Truck

view-of-hills-from-decking-of-pantechnicon-powys-truck

Pantechnicon Powys Truck is one of my all-time favourite places to go glamping in South Wales for those views alone.

I mean, need I say anything else?

When you can enjoy those incredible views at sunset while dining alfresco with your loved one, you really don’t need any other reasons to book a stay here.

But I’m gonna give them to you anyway (because I’m kind like that!).

How does a raised cabin bed, a swimming pond, and ridiculously beautiful interiors sound?

Good? Then get yourself booked in!

What guests say:  “The stay was wonderful, we watched hares and rabbits in the gardens, toured the lavender fields and watched the sleep and lambs from bed. We sat outside and swung on the swing and took so many gorgeous photos of the scenery. The bread and eggs were delicious that the hosts left and we wanted for nothing. The hut was cosy and clean and perfect.”

14. Fron Farm Yurt Retreat

white-yurt-by-trees-in-field-at-fron-farm-yurt-retreat

Location:  Whitland, nr Tenby

Fron Farm Yurt Retreat is set on an organic farm in a picturesque pocket of Pembrokeshire countryside.

(Picture lush meadows and ancient oaks in abundance!)

It’s also one of the best places to go glamping in South Wales with your family or a group of friends, as each of the three yurts sleeps up to five people.

Each yurt comprises a double bed, two single futon chairs, electric lighting, and a wood-burning stove.

And outside you’ll find your own decking with outside seating so you can dine and drink alfresco.

However, easily my favourite thing about Fron Farm is the wood-fired sauna and hot tub you can enjoy on-site. Sign me up!

What guests say:   “The yurt was beautiful, and well equipped with everything we needed to feel welcome and at home. The wood burner kept it super cosy, even when there was torrential rain outside. Plus we had the luxurious treat of the hot tub to enjoy at the end of the day – much appreciated after long walks! The location is heavenly – the farm is peaceful and has beautiful grounds to explore.”

15. Sunset on the Water Pod

sunset-on-the-water-pod-by-lake-surrounded-by-trees-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £104 for 2 people

Location:  Cribyn, nr Cardigan

You’ve probably seen glamping pods before but Sunset on the Water Pod isn’t just any old glamping pod.

This gorgeous little pod is set on a lake with the most amazing views and surroundings.

Whether you admire the water from your private decking or up-close-and-personal while rowing about, you’re sure to love a stay here.

The pod itself is just as special as its surroundings, with a stylish studio-style interior comprising a living, kitchen and dining area, and a double bed.

If the weather’s on your side, you can relax out on the decking in your four-person hot tub, and if the weather turns you can cosy up inside in front of the SMART TV.

What guests say:   “We had a lovely time and the glamping pod was much more comfortable and luxurious than we could have imagined. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The hot tub was amazing! We cooked two meals while staying as the hobs, microwave, saucepans and utensils that were provided were very easy to use and practical. Our dog loved the pod and made friends with Pedro the duck too!”

16. Castle Knights Glamping

yurt-and-barrel-in-field-at-castle-knights-glamping

Price per night:  From £80 for 2 people

Location:  Usk, nr Cwmbran

Set on the grounds of Usk Castle, Castle Knights Glamping is home to an impressive selection of glamping accommodation.

We’re talking shepherds huts, a yurt, lots of cabins and pods, and even a barrel!

Yep, it’s safe to say you’ve got a fair selection of options to choose from if you want to stay here.

Castle Knights is admittedly a little bit back to basics but they acknowledge this themselves.

They think that shared bathrooms and showers and a communal kitchen allow you to enjoy the camping experience but with some extra creature comforts.

And their approach to all their accommodation is the same!

Choose from the silver option where you bring your own bedding or the gold option which includes bedding, faux fur throws and sheepskin rugs.

What guests say:  “We had an absolutely amazing time. Being able to explore the castle grounds was fantastic. The facilitie s were perfect (the shower is definitely better than the one I have at home). We were allocated a toilet and shower to use which were immaculate. The fire pits are huge, and a lovely little tree swing made everything feel cosy by the fire.”

17.  Douglas and Birch Hut

Price per night:  From £103 for 2 people

Location: Moylgrove, nr Cardigan

The surprisingly spacious Douglas and Birch Hut is ridiculously cute  and  well-equipped.

With big windows for light and sunsets to stream through, the hut is the perfect place to disconnect from modern life and reconnect with nature.

Surrounded by its own gorgeous garden, with a fire pit and a hammock for two, there’s nothing left for you to do other than kick back and relax.

The bespoke built hut benefits from a beautiful king-size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets, big fluffy white towels, a lovely bathroom, and kitchen space.

The kitchen is also lovingly stocked with homemade bread, tea, fresh coffee, fresh eggs, organic local milk, orange juice, and butter. Yum!

What guests say:  “Everything was perfect. I have no words to describe how peaceful and regenerating this place is. Left after 6 days feeling like a new person. Would recommend it to anyone that is looking for an escape from the stress of everyday city life. Clean, cosy and welcoming is how I would describe the hut. Being surrounded by nature and loving animals and pets was my favourite part of the stay.”

18. Oak Apple Tree Tent

oak-apple-tree-tent-and-hut-amid-trees-on-sunny-day

Price per night:  From £130 for 2 people

Location:  Monmouth, nr Newport

For one of the most unique glamping holidays in South Wales, book a stay in Oak Apple Tree Tent .

I mean, how many people can say they’ve slept in a sphere suspended above the ground?

Well, you could be that person if you book a stay here!

This lambswool-lined pod of cosiness sits snug in the woods of a family farm, surrounded by some of Wales’ best nature.

The admittedly small pod is just your snug bedroom.

With two single beds and a wood-burner in the middle, a glamping holiday here is more about nature than anything else.

But don’t worry, you’ve also got two other separate cabins: one a kitchen and dining area, the other a compost loo and hot shower.

What guests say:   “We had a fantastic time. Joe was very welcoming and the place itself was stunning. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire and walking in the woods. The kitchen space was well stocked and they had left us bread, eggs and milk which was a lovely addition. Sleeping in the pod was very special, looking out the Perspex roof is amazing and it’s very cosy with all the cushions and blankets.”

19. Wood Shack

wood-shack-cabin-with-large-decking-in-woodland

Price per night:  From £72 for 2 people

Location:  Abergavenny, Monmouthshire

I absolutely love forests which is why Wood Shack has to be one of my favourite places to go glamping in South Wales.

I couldn’t think of a more relaxing place to stay than this.

Waking up to fresh forest air and the sound of birdsong sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

The shack’s interior is simple, yet colourful, and it really helps to aid the whole off-grid feeling you get from a stay here.

From the cosy wooden double bedroom to the porthole by the shower to the many items made by the owner from a native ash tree, you really feel a part of nature here.

So turn off your devices, hop in the hammock, and get ready to enjoy life at a slower pace!

What guests say:   “ Absolutely perfect getaway from the busy streets of London. The cottage was everything we wished for and more, in the middle of the woodlands, completely secluded. The cottage has everything you need and we had a great time cooki ng up dishes every night and getting the log fire burning, which made it very toasty.”

20. Seven Hills Hideaway Safari Tents

seven-hills-hideaway-safari-tent-lit-up-at-night

Price per night:  From £143 for 6 people

Set right on the border of Wales, Seven Hills Hideaway Safari Tents is a great glamping holiday in South Wales for a family, group of friends, or even a couple looking for more space.

Their luxurious canvas lodges are far from basic.

They give you every creature comfort of home while letting you be a little closer to nature.

The lodges are on-grid enough to provide all the creature comforts you need (for drying your hair or powering up your mobile devices), yet off-grid enough to help you recharge your personal batteries.

The cherry on top of an already very tasty cake is that each tent benefits from its own hot tub! Hop in.

What guests say:  “Currently sat in my safari tent wishing I had another couple of days here. From dealing with Francesca who is a dream everything is spot on. The tents are amazing, only two of us but would comfortably take six. Everything you need is here. Bathroom facilities are great, the log burner is easy to use and the hot tub was great.”

21. The Hot Tub Hideaway Shepherds Hut

the-hot-tub-hideaway-shepherds-hut-with-outdoor-seating-area-in-field-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £90 for 2 people

Location: Hay-on-Wye, nr Abergavenny

Also situated right on the border, The Hot Tub Hideaway Shepherds Hut is one of my favourite places to go glamping in South Wales.

(And the best part is that it doesn’t break the bank either!)

From the up-cycled wood-fired hot tub to the sumptuous king-size bed to the far-reaching views across the Brecon Beacons, there’s so much to love about this place.

The interior is simple and charming, but you won’t want to spend TOO much time inside when you can be outside admiring the ancient hay meadow, or canoeing, fishing and wild swimming in the River Wye.

What guests say:   “ This was the most relaxing holiday of my life. The privacy and peace and quiet are great. A real back to basics holiday with no electricity, no Wi-Fi… perfect for that one on one time with the one you love. All the equipment you need for cooking on the fire pit/BBQ. Super comfortabl e bed for the night. We will definitely be going back again! Just perfect!”

22. Gwennol Cabin

grey-gwennol-cabin-in-front-of-trees-in-field-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £82 for 4 people

Location: Capel y Ffin, nr Hay-on-Wye

Gwennol Cabin is another slightly more back-to-basics glamping holiday in South Wales that allows you to completely disconnect from modern life and reconnect with nature.

Hidden away in one of the wildest parts of Wales, the wagon is set in a clearing accessed only by foot, or horseback, or bike.

No need to worry about neighbours here!

The simple nature of the wagon perfectly complements its surroundings.

A great option for families, the wagon houses one double bed and two single beds, without feeling too cramped at all.

But you won’t want to spend too much time inside.

Get ready to explore, paddle in the stream, cook on the open fire, and stargaze to your heart’s content!

What guests say:  “It was such a beautiful place and everything was so well thought through. It was so nice to be completely remote and get back to nature but the cabin also had everything you needed without veering too much away from the camping feel. I loved waking up every morning to the sound of birds singing and the stream next to the cabin. The camp was so cute and I loved having a bath in the tin bath by the stream.”

23. Nantseren Bell Tents

pili-pala-bell-tent-at-nantseren-glamping-lit-up-at-sunset-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £90 for 4 people

Location: Llanddeusant, Carmarthenshire

I’m absolutely obsessed with Nantseren Bell Tents because they sit halfway between a traditional bell tent and a safari tent.

A more spacious alternative to your usual bell tents, they sleep up to four people without feeling too cramped.

Nantseren is also a great option for a seriously big group of people.

Whether you’re planning a hen do or you’ve just got a big family, you can hire out the entire camp (sleeping sixteen people) for £400 a night!

All the canvas lodges are set up along the banks of a stream at roughly thirty-metre intervals, with a gas stove outside, log seating by the fire pit, and a hammock by the stream.

Inside, the story is much the same with comfy beds, kitchens, seating, and a wood-burning stove.

What guests say:   “Nantseren exceeded all our expectations. Rebecca and Ceri went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and it really was one of the happiest times we’ve spent together as a family. The accommodation was perfect and every detail had been considered. We booked the hot tub on one of our days and it was fantastic, sitting in it in the night with a glass of red wine watching shooting stars cross the sky will be a memory we’ll treasure forever.”

24. The Charcoal Hut

Price per night:  From £120 for 2 people

Location: Llandovery Carmarthenshire

Private, cosy and intimate, The Charcoal Hut oozes romance.

This secret getaway for two is set in a little woodland field, perfectly placed to enjoy the peace and quiet.

(And most importantly, indulge in some together time!)

Whether you fancy heading out into the Brecon Beacons on a long walk together or cosying up inside or in the hot tub and forgetting everyone else for a few days, the choice is up to you!

With board games and plenty of blankets inside the hut, as well as special hampers made just for you, hosts Dinah and John go out of their way to make your stay a special one.

What guests say:  “Highly recommended. So peaceful and welcoming. Cosy and comfortable, everything you need for a restful few days has been supplied right down to the cats that come down to the hut to visit! We relaxed in the hot tub as bats flew over our heads and gazed at the stars. Not to mention the wonderful hot chocolate, muffins and breakfast supplies.”

If you want to go away with friends or family, you also have the option of a sofa bed, with full bedding provided if needed.

Each dome also has its own private wood-fired hot tub, indoor log burner, gas hob and oven, and private picnic table and BBQ.

However, perhaps my favourite thing about Beavers Retreat is that they offer alpaca trekking.

Yep, that’s right, alpaca trekking!

What guests say:   “Cracking holiday, we’ve been before so knew we were going to book again, this time we booked the geodome and it didn’t disappoint, from the huge amount of space inside to the hot tub and indoor stove. All were excellent additions to what is an already incredible place to have a break from busy life. Iwan was an incredible help as always, only a phone call away.”

26. Swallow Barn Bell Tent

pili-pala-bell-tent-at-nantseren-glamping-lit-up-at-sunset-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £95 for 5 people

Location:  Quakers Yard, nr Pontypridd

If you’re looking to get a little closer to nature, you can do just that in the Swallow Barn Bell Tent .

The surprisingly spacious bell tent sleeps up to five people, making it a great option for a family break.

However, if you’re keen to stay here with just your partner, Swallow Barn doubles as a romantic getaway!

Each bell tent is set out on a spacious deck with a firepit, and houses beds, a log burner, lighting, a welcome pack, and tea and coffee.

If you want to make your stay extra special, you can pay extra for a ‘Cook your own breakfast’ box, afternoon tea delivery, or a dining experience in the barn.

When the tents themselves are so budget-friendly, it’s worth paying that little bit extra for some additional treats!

What guests say:  “What a wonderful place! Beautiful views, quiet and cosy. Everything you could possibly need is provided. A handy camp kitchen with all necessities. A communal open barn for hanging out and eating or sheltering. Bell tent is clean, comfortable and well supplied. Kind and generous hosts. We are grateful to have found such a hidden gem and highly recommend it.”

27. Big Cwtch Shepherds Hut

mint-big-cwtch-shepherds-hut-with-yellow-door-in-field-glamping-south-wales

Price per night:  From £110 for 2 people

Location: Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire

With a name like Big Cwtch , you just know that this shepherds hut has to be all kinds of romantic!

And it’s safe to say that there’s more romance to this shepherds hut than just its name.

A wood-fired hot tub, a sumptuous king-sized bed, and a fitted kitchen all come together to create a luxurious and romantic atmosphere for two.

The inside really is lovely but when the views from the hot tub are this good, you won’t want to spend much time instead anyway.

So surprise your other half to a holiday (or send strong hints for them to do it instead), and you’ll soon find yourself relaxing to your heart’s content.

What guests say:   “The hut was impeccably clean, the views amazing and neighbouring goats friendly! There was tea/coffee, fresh milk and lovely cookies waiting for us when we arrived and we had everything we needed to cook ourselves dinner. We loved the log burner, which kept the hut very toasty. All in all, we were extremely pleased with the hut and had a lovely time there.”

28. Kidwelly Farm Safari Tents

kidwelly-farm-safari-tent-with-decking-and-hot-tub-in-field-glamping-south-wales

Price per night: From £110 for 4 people

South Wales is no stranger to amazing safari tents, and Kidwelly Farm Safari Tents is no exception.

However, unlike most safari tents that generally tend to sleep around six people, these safari tents only sleep four, making them ideal for couples or a small family.

From the spacious wood-fired hot tub to the king-size master bedroom to the fully-fitted kitchen and bathroom, these tents definitely don’t skimp on luxury.

And all this luxury is made all the better by the amazing views that surround you.

(They’re made even better when enjoyed from your private hot tub!).

What guests say:  “The  tent was exceptionally clean and well equipped. Lots of hot water for the shower. Welsh cakes and waffles provided was a nice touch. Peter helped us light the wood burner which made the  tent very cosy. Peter also helped with lighting the hot tub. It took a while to warm up but once warm was nice and relaxing. We will definitely be back, thank you.”

Imagine being here cooking up a BBQ on a hot summer’s evening as the sun goes down, basking in the sun and soaking up the view of the lake. Heavenly!

What guests say:  “Lodge On a Lake was just what I needed. A comfortable modern cabin hot tub double bed kitchen and a shower room while having four nights fishing. Relaxing stay with lake view BBQ area where I took advantage of some food and an hour in the hot tub with my mate kind enough to bring me some supplies. All staff are friendly and helpful.”

I mean, when the surroundings are this beautiful, it’d be rude not to, right?

What guests say:   “This is a little gem of a place. The cabin is so comfortable and cosy – its superb insulation makes it really warm and sheltered from the elements even in the cold weather. There are some lovely little touches including a mini bottle of prosecco on arrival and a gorgeous home cooked flapjack. Location: Pentre Galar, Pembrokeshire

If you like the sound of the glamping pod above but fancy somewhere with a little more space, then look no further than Y Panorama Bus which is set on the same picturesque site as the pod.

Full of charm and character, this lovingly converted 1968 Bedford Plaxton Panorama bus makes the perfect holiday home for anywhere between two and four people.

The bus comprises a kitchen, ample seating, a wood burner, a double bed, and a large futon sofa bed.

I’m personally already daydreaming about watching the world go by from the double bed – the expansive windows really allow the views to flood in!

What guests say:  “What an absolutely blissful place to stay. Alice and Gilly are so welcoming and have really thought about all the little touches – from Prosecco and granola bars on arrival; environmentally friendly shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the shower room; and well laid out information. We had a beautiful time, relaxed and re-energised, scritched neighbouring friendly cows and had plenty of fresh air.”

32. Under the Oak Safari Tents

safari-tent-by-lake-in-front-of-tree-with-hills-in-the-background-under-the-oak-safari-tents-in-caerphilly-glamping-with-hot-tub-wales

Price per night: From £150 for 2 people

Location: Caerphilly

Set in the most tranquil setting, these luxurious, individually designed safari tents are dotted around a beautiful pond in a corner of Under the Oak ‘s family farm.

With breathtaking views of the rolling South Wales hillside, you really can’t find a glamping site in South Wales much more picturesque than this.

Whether you cwtch up by the wood burner with a good book or lounge in your private wooden hot tub, you’re sure to take relaxation to a whole new level here.

The safari tents’ living areas offer a comfy and spacious place to unwind, with a sofa, dining area and books and games to keep everyone amused.

What guests say:   “So what can I say about this magical, beautiful, stunning little getaway. Lydia and Richard are amazing, very friendly and inviting. The accommodation was absolutely beautiful only beaten by the stunning views around you as you sit, relax and feel the stress run from your body. The bed was really comfy, the kitchen fully equipped and a cosy little en-suite. I cannot praise this place enough.”

33. The Stripy Bothy

stripy-bothy-with-hammock-and-seating-area-on-deck

Location: Penrhos, Monmouthshire

Fancy a more back-to-basics glamping experience in South Wales that takes you far away from the hustle and bustle of modern life?

Is that a resounding yes? Well, The Stripy Bothy will help you completely disconnect and destress.

This rustic accommodation for two is oh-so-charming – the question isn’t do you book a stay here but where do you spend most of your time?

The outdoor seats and hammock have definitely caught my eye, but inside, the seats and bed look welcoming too!

However, the real highlights of this bothy are the modern bathroom and the amazing views.

This really is rural bliss.

What guests say:   “Craig and Charles have really created something quite magical at Woodlands Farm. The whole place is so peaceful and welcoming, and there is so much space to roam around in, including their beautiful (and unusual) gardens. One of our best evenings was spent on the veranda, watching dusk fall in the utter quiet, with the log burner roaring away behind us in the bothy. We loved the eclectic furniture and décor!”

34. Llanthony Castaway Cabin

castaway-cabin-with-decking-and-mountains-in-background

Price per night:  From £95 for 2 people

Location: Llanthony, nr Abergavenny

Good views and Castaway Cabin go hand in hand.

With amazing hill walks right on your doorstep, this cabin is set in the most beautiful pocket of South Wales countryside.

Whether you want to get out and explore, or would rather cosy up inside with a hot chocolate or a glass of wine, these two converted train carriages promise an amazing holiday.

Sat in its own little field over a bridge, and decked out with fairy lights, the romantic adults-only cabin feels like a magical escape from everyday life.

If you want to recharge, this is one of the best places to go glamping in South Wales to do just that.

What guests say:  “Really beautiful spot for the cabin overlooking a gorgeous Welsh valley. The cabin itself is very thoughtfully put together, with a very high level of workmanship. It’s got everything you need for a stay that is a lot more luxurious than you’d expect halfway up a hill in the middle of nowhere!”

35. Top of the Woods Nature Domes

top-of-the-woods-nature-dome-lit-up-at-night-by-campfire

Price per night:  From £100 for 4 people

Location: Boncath, Pembrokeshire

Geodomes are easily one of my all-time favourite glamping options.

I mean, you can’t really find anything more unique than this, can you?

Well, if you’re also a huge fan of geodomes, then you’re in luck because Top of the Woods Nature Domes are not only well-equipped but they’re also pretty affordable too.

With prices starting from just £25 per person a night, a stay here is pretty much a no-brainer.

The domes themselves are pretty simple but that doesn’t make them any less special.

Plus, they’re equipped with everything you could need and more for a comfortable stay!

What guests say:   “The location is stunning… literally in the middle of nowhere with just stunning scenery for company. The set-up at TOTW is absolutely spot on, they have thought of everything. The outdoor kitchen facilities had all we needed, including brilliant knives (who doesn’t appreciate a sharp kitchen knife!) and the pods were spacious. Woodburners great for warmth in the evening.”

36. Brambling Cross Cabin

rustic-cabin-with-blue-door-hidden-among-greenery-brambling-cross-cabin

Price per night: From £120 for 2 people

Location:  Tintern, Monmouthshire

Brambling Cross is a cabin with crackling campfires, canoeing and craft ale all on its doorstep.

It seems that the hosts, Ed and Tori, wrapped up all their favourite Cs together in one cosy place.

Set at the top of a hill in its own enclosed garden, this private getaway takes intimacy to a whole new level.

Beyond the beautiful split stable doors are an antique pine kitchen and a cabin bed which you can snuggle up in with the fire lit, and on rainy days you’ll be grateful that your hot shower is en-suite.

However, what makes this one of my favourite glamping holidays in South Wales is the wood-fired hot tub that is lit up by fairy lights at night.

Talk about romantic!

What guests say:   “Brambling Cross was the perfect escape from city life and could not have been more peaceful and secluded. The cabin was quaint and characterful with a log burner and the cosiest bed. The hot tub was a real treat too and looking up at the stars was the icing on the cake. There was lots to explore in the surrounding areas and we had a great time adventuring up the Wye Valley.”

37. Sennybridge Shepherds Hut

sennybridge-shepherds-huts-with-decking-in-grassy-field-in-brecon-powys

Price per night: From £125 per night for 2 people

Situated in the north of the Brecon Beacons, Sennybridge Shepherds Hut benefits from glorious views, easy access to the national park and a tiny, tidy home that has been made with a lot of local love.

A labour of love for local builder Martin and his partner Diane, this hut was first conceived as a getaway for their own personal use.

But they quickly realised that their little home was just too good to keep to themselves.

Perhaps my favourite part of this shepherd’s hut is the raised deck it sits upon.

With a hammock, outdoor furniture and a Finnish-style hot tub, it’s the perfect spot to relax for hours on end and stargaze within the Dark Sky Reserve.

What guests say:  “Gorgeous accommodation in an idyllic location. Friendly hosts and wonderfully hand-built hut showing amazing craftsmanship.”

Hello hope you are well. I am looking to book 1 night away with my partner. We live in Neath (SA11) so as close to that area as possible would be amazing. We are looking at the 27th March please May Thanks Oliver
