• Camporee is Upon Us

Keep Up with DUES! A Scout who is not current on dues will not be able to attend any event including Camporee.

Cost for Camporee: $40, already past due (3/12)

Troop will be electing a new PLC in the next two weeks.

NEW PATROL!!! The Dragons, a new boy patrol, is now forming, picking Patrol Leaders, a yell, and designing a flag. Two of our older scouts, a Life and an Eagle, will serve as co-troop guides to aid the new boy patrol. Remember the patrol structure of the troop; the boys are in charge and responsible with in their patrol.

We had the pleasure of sharing the the inner workings of the parent committee with our new families last night. Our main topics were upcoming events that Scouts old and new will thoroughly enjoy and how our finances play into those events.

Most importantly, Scouts must take financial responsibility upon themselves by paying their troop dues . As the Personal Management MB teaches, a scout understands the value of money and how it enables himself, his family, and his troop to operate. Rather than just asking Mom or Dad for the $5 each month, Scouts should earn their dues money by doing chores around the house.

Adults also have to keep the troop running by completing standard training at myscouting.org . The more adults we have trained, the more flexible and accommodating we can be when the PLC decides upon an activity or outing. Classroom training is needed for Outdoor skills and leadership, VIRTUS training for us to use the church’s facilities, and CPR training. ASM ‘s, let’s get a group together an just knock these out together. Get a training buddy who you’re accountable to, a little mutual pressure to keep the troop strong.

Also, encourage patrol communication and patrol meetings outside of troop meetings. Two-deep leadership required at all scouting activities.

Want be involved behind the scenes? Committee is always happy to share chairs and positions.

The Troop display cabinet in the hall is in need of repair, the glass repaired and the doors reattached. Troop storage locker needs lighting , even just running an extension cord.

Upcoming events

• Pre-Camporee March 9-11; preparing for Camporee events at Sycamore Cyn
• SPB MC Fish Fries, Friday afternoons and evenings in Lent

Visibility for Troop in SPB community; bus tables, serve food, KP. PLC should pick one day so there is a large showing of the troop. able to sell of our surplus popcorn

• Camporee April 19-22;

Anyone versed in t shirt printing, we’re designing adult Class B shirts. Poll showings: Olive/scouting green (like scout pants) collared polo shirts with a pocket

Setting up our Monkey bridge for the Emergency Preparedness event we run at Camporee, drop off heavy equipment Thursday night

Scouts hike in Friday afternoon, leave Sunday noon

• Pinewood Derby Open Class

Use 3741’s track and software at SPB, invite Cub Scouts to watch, perhaps participate in “big boy” races

• Summer Camp June 30-July 7 Chawanakee, Shaver Lake

$75 / scout deposit due March 15 , approximating $375 per scout total. Camperships available

• Troop Meeting Feb. 13
• Dues must be CURRENT AND PAID to go on outings
• Winter camp at Wasewagon was fun despite the lack of snow, send all pictures to historians
• Speaking of photos, we need to repair the troop cabinet in the hall. Scoutmaster was thinking flat screens with photos of our recent outings, but maybe some small digital frames will suffice
• Start looking ahead to Camporee…
• Get current on your adult training; No train adult leaders means no outings!

February Meetings’ Theme: First aid! Troop has been learning parts of a first aid kid and building their own personal kits
