Open days FAQ's

Why go to an open day at university of brighton.

Planning to apply to a course at University of Brighton? Why not attend an open day? By attending an open day, you'll get the chance to ask all your questions, meet staff and see where you could be studying. Joining an open day offers the chance to research any courses you're interested in to help you pinpoint the right one for you. You can also scope out the local area, see the learning facilities and join one of the campus tours. Before attending, be sure to register for a place, and have a great day visiting University of Brighton!

What can you expect on the day?

Your open day at University of Brighton will be packed! You'll find tours, as well as have plenty of chance to see the local area, and get your questions about the course and student life answered, including any worries you have on important topics such as student finance. As well as scheduled parts of the day such as tours, you'll have plenty of opportunities to chat more casually with academics at University of Brighton. These are some of the best chances you'll have on the day to get all your questions answered. As well as all this, open days offer the chance to check out some of the university's facilities such as the library, study spaces and teaching rooms.

What questions should you ask at a university open day?

As many as you can think of! Open days are one of the best chances to get all your questions about University of Brighton answered. Make a note before you visit of everything you need to know and write down the answers during the day because there's a lot to take in. All the staff working at the open day will be more than happy to spend time with you to answer as many questions as you've got, so don't be shy. Anything you forget to ask can always be asked by email - there's always something that pops into your head on the way home that you wish you'd got an answer to. Some of the biggest topics students ask about on open days at University of Brighton include the modules on the course you're interested in, the local area (including the nightlife), the ways students at the uni socialise, and the entry requirements.

What if you can't attend a university open day?

Don't panic if you can't! Not everybody can get to open days. There's lots of other ways to get all the information you need. If you're curious about the campus, check out the relevant sections on the University of Brighton website to find photos and videos offering plenty of information. There may also be other opportunities to visit in person if you decide to apply to University of Brighton, so it's always worth reaching out by email to ask if there are any chances to visit and have a tour on a different day.

Falmer Campus Visit Ambassador Information

Information and rescources for student ambassadors running campus visits at falmer, campus tour.

The intention behind a pre-16 campus tour is to show students what is on offer at University in general. This is not a recruitment exercise. It is a chance for them to get to talk to an ambassador in an informal way and a chance for them to pick up information about University. These should be fun and energetic, with you continually talking to different members of the group, putting the students at ease. Where possible we give students iPad on the tour so they can take photos, that we can see at the end of the day. Inform the students that no Photos will be kept or used and all will be deleted  at the end of the day.

  • Introduce yourself to the group, explain your course, year group and why you chose to go to university and Brighton specifically
  • Explain the tour will last approximately 35 minutes and involves some walking but that they will each have their own job to do and facts to find out on the way.
  •    Allocate roles to pupils (researcher, navigator, explorer and photographer) and give them their resources (ipad to photographer ect)
  • Remember to relax, smile and be positive! Always engage with your whole group even when walking. DO NOT JUST WALK BETWEEN PLACES – keep talking to the group, asking them questions getting to know what they like, keep it fun
  • Please do not be negative the simplest of comments can be misconstrued.

WELCOME TO MITHRAS HALLS

Hello and welcome to Mithras Halls of Residence!

Mithras Halls is located just in front of Mithras House on Lewes Road, Brighton and we are one element in the university’s Brighton Big Build Project. This new construction first welcomed students in Sept 2021.

The accommodation is made up of 5 towers: Brunswick Hall, Goldstone Hall, Hanover Hall, Preston Hall and Regency Hall, ranging from 9 storeys to 18 storeys. The towers generally comprise of 2 x 8 bed flats per floor.

We are centrally located in the city for bus and rail connections and a short walk to the seafront.

We want your stay to be a safe and enjoyable one, so please don not hesitate to speak to our friendly and knowledgeable team with any queries you may have.

With best wishes for a happy and successful year in accommodation and with your studies.

Maria Young

Uliving Residence Manager

The Location

At the heart of the University of Brighton's largest campus, Mithras Halls is just moments from the countryside and a short distance to the beach. You are also a short walk from the train station, Aldi, Costa and more.

The Laundry

The onsite laundry makes those very necessary jobs just that little bit easier. You can view the laundry in the above 360.

The Reception

The hub for all your support, pop-in here to ask questions and report maintenance requests. You can also do that here .

Jake Headland

Our Residential Life team at Mithras are here to support you during your time with us, and to create a friendly positive and inclusive environment for you to live in. We know that it may be easier to talk to a fellow student than a member of staff, so each flat is assigned an upper-year Student Residential Advisor (SRA), who will live and work in the accommodation and check in with you regularly throughout the year to say hello. Flat and individual meetings will take place virtually using Microsoft Teams.

The SRAs organise and deliver social events where there’s an opportunity for you to build genuine friendships and have fun. We hope that you will experience a real sense of belonging and that you will quickly feel at home.

You can contact an SRA about any concerns you might have, no matter how big or small. It could be a general question about university, or perhaps a flatmate dispute. You might be concerned about someone you live with, or maybe you are feeling homesick and just want someone to talk to. If an SRA is unable to help you, they will know someone who can.

A guide to residential life will be waiting in your room when you arrive.

To meet the team and for more information, clikc the link below

Residential Life

brighton university campus tour

Following the success of their Brighton launch last year, founders Luna Hut are eager to bring their expertise to the Sussex campus. Conveniently located on the lawns nearest the Sports Centre, this sauna will offer students and staff a chance to unwind and prioritise their health amidst their busy schedules.

Opening on 17 September 2024, the Luna Hut sauna at the University of Sussex will feature an authentic Finnish wood fired barrel sauna, cold water contrast therapy options, and a serene space for relaxation. It’s a perfect opportunity to connect with nature, build community, and enjoy the myriad health benefits that saunas provide, including stress reduction, improved circulation, muscle recovery, and detoxification.

With affordability in mind, the Luna Hut sauna hopes that everyone at the University can experience the wellness benefits that saunas offer. The Luna Hut team is thrilled to begin this new chapter at Sussex University and looks forward to welcoming the entire campus community to this unique wellness experience.

Visit Campus

On-campus visits.

Boston University is excited to welcome visitors to our campus! We host in-person tours and information sessions where you can experience the vibrancy of BU’s campus and meet current students. Here is some helpful information in preparation for your visit:

  • Registration is required for all events.  Please select a date from our events calendar  to register for a program in advance of your arrival on our campus.
  • During high school vacation weeks, holidays and weekends, our programs often reach capacity weeks in advance.  We recommended securing your visit before making travel plans.
  • If you are unable to secure a reservation, you are welcome to take our self-guided mobile walking tour.  Using your phone you can choose from options that mirror our in-person tour, or opportunities to explore our West campus and Housing facilities through videos and narrated tour stops.
  • A member of the Board of Admissions is available to answer questions at the Visitors Center during our operating hours.
  • We offer information sessions year-round, but campus tours are not available when BU classes are not in session (much of December and January, Spring Break (in March) and May). We do host information sessions and campus tours throughout the summer.
  • Campus tours enter several buildings on campus, but residence halls are not included. Admitted students have the opportunity to tour residence halls at Admitted Student Open Houses in April.
  • Parking for visitors is limited. See our Directions and Parking page for the most updated information at the time of your visit.
