Eric put on a spectacular show last night in Dallas on his Double Down Tour. He hit the stage around 8:30, took a 20 min break in the middle & played till almost midnight. Very high energy! Wonderful light show! My 2nd EFC concert & my family with me was there 4th. We also have tickets in June to see him in Washington. I can’t wait. If you have the opportunity I highly recommend going to his concert.

Eric Church was the first ever country concert I've been to.. He rocked it hard... The BEST concert I've ever been to.. His music has helped me through an extremely hard time in my life and I love him. I'm greatful for him and his music... I can't wait to see him again. I hope I get a chance to tell him face to face how he's helped me over come my trials and tribulations.. god bless him and the group and his family...

Eric is an amazing performer. He plays to the audience and is apparent how much fun & enjoyment he has while performing. He started at 8:25 p.m., took a 20 minute intermission and then performed until 11:45 p.m. I believe he sang in excess of 30 songs. His band & backup singer were absolutely wonderful. It was a night I will have in my memory forever. I loved every part of his performance.

The only negative of the night was all of the drunk audience members. Their vulgar language, lack of respect for their surroundings & others were disappointing. But thanks to Eric & his performance made it tolerable.

Eric Church to bring unique concert experience to Nashville Bar Chief's. Here's how you can listen in

Eric Church is returning to his Neon Steeple stage at Chief's, his six-month-old Lower Broadway bar, honky-tonk, restaurant and performance venue.

On Sept. 30, the "Springsteen" vocalist will perform during a SiriusXM broadcast from his six-story space.

SiriusXM's Eric Church-curated Outsiders Radio (channel 740) showcases the Grammy-nominated CMA Entertainer of the Year's musical catalog alongside his favorite music and influences featuring collaborations and recordings with friends, behind-the-scenes stories, live performances and more.

The exclusive-for-listeners full-band show will feature Church turning back the clock two decades to a vibe similar to the club shows that guided him to early stardom.

How to listen, attend Eric Church SiriusXM broadcast?

The performance will air on Sept. 30 at 10 p.m. ET on SiriusXM's Eric Church Outsiders Radio (ch. 740) and be available to stream on the SiriusXM app. Outsiders Radio will take over Y2Kountry (Ch. 57) and air the performance on Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. ET, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. ET and Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. ET.

SiriusXM subscribers can enter to win a trip to the event . Subscribers who live in the area and/or listen to relevant SiriusXM channels and opt into marketing communications can win tickets and earn their entry by volunteering at local charities. A select number of tickets will also go to Church's fan club members, the Church Choir.

What to expect from the concert?

The shows also mark the performer's premiere foray onto the Neon Steeple stage with a full band.

Previously, from April 5 through June 9, 2024, Church played 19 intimate solo concerts for his fans as part of his "Eric Church: To Beat The Devil" residency — tickets were primarily made available for members of his Church Choir fan club.

In regards to expectations for this concert, the multi-platinum-selling chart-topping performer offered the following statement, exclusive to The Tennessean:

"Just as the residency shows were completely their own, different than anything we bring to the stage on our tours, we've designed this concert to be its own unique experience. Since Outsiders Radio started as a segment on SiriusXM's The Highway nearly a decade ago, it's been all about the music I'm a fan of and the artists who inspire me and how that all informs our music — I'm excited to commemorate this milestone with a show for all us outsiders."

Church's last year of concerts

Alongside a headlining set at April's Stagecoach Festival, nearly two dozen other noteworthy Church live sets have occurred in downtown Nashville in the past year.

In  Aug. 2023 , Church played for two nights as the eighteenth Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Artist-in-Residence. The event was an intimate and theatrical Broadway-style presentation of a 19-song, two-hour concert by the "Chief" and his and a nine-piece band.

The Tennessean regarded the event as a "rare career moment" during which the impact of his catalog "bewildered" him while he played at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's 776-person capacity CMA Theater.

On April 6, on the second night of his Chief's residency at Neon Steeple, The Tennessean regarded the concert in front of 400 seated fans and friends as "one of the ultimate displays of the honesty, personal touches and against-the-grain actions and thinking that have defined x(Church's) quarter-century in Nashville."

In general, regarding whenever he chooses to perform at his home stage, Church offered the following in March 2024:

"These shows at Chief's will be one of a kind, only for Chief's and with some songs that will only ever be performed during these shows. They're the most unique shows I'll probably ever do, and I'm excited to enjoy this chapter of what Chief's will be."

Thomas Rhett Pays Tribute To His Musical Icon Eric Church With New Song “Church”

eric church past tours

Take ’em to Church.

Thomas Rhett has always been a big Eric Church guy, speaking in the past about the influence that Church’s 2011 album Chief  had on him:

“When Chief came out, I remember my mind being blown at the way he could tell a story and the energy he could have on a record and how he could blend rock & roll and country music so well. I love that he just does him and there’s no shame in it.”

He’s recalled listening to “These Boots” on repeat, and even name-dropped Church on the title track to his 2021 album  Country Again.

“ But last night we cracked some cold beers And cranked Eric Church to ten Thought, man it feels good to be country again”

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that TR is once again paying tribute to one of his musical heroes on his new album.

Thomas Rhett dropped his newest album,  About A Woman,  today. And one song, “Church,” is filled with references to the Chief.

Church’s music serves as the backdrop for the love story, with songs like “Sinners Like Me” and “Love Your Love the Most” taking him back to the memories they made together listening to Church as their romance blossomed:

“She played me her favorite song ‘Sinners Like Me’ And I ain’t been the same since the first time I heard the Chief She was my Carolina, red bandana, Ray-Ban singin’ oh, ‘Springsteen’ ‘Young and Wild’ that summer’s why “Love Your Love the Most” still sounds like, oh eighteen Back then these boots were almost new I was still learnin’ the words That Friday night I was holding onto her She took me to Church”

The song evokes a lot of the same themes as Church’s own “Springsteen,” connecting melodies and memories like going to a Church concert and hearing “Talladega” and “Like Jesus Does,” and songs like “How ‘Bout You” taking him back to their first kiss.

And listen, I’m not the biggest Thomas Rhett fan. He has a few here and there that I enjoy, but overall his music is too poppy for me. And this one’s definitely on the more poppy side (what was that about how great it felt to be country again?), but it’s still a feel-good song that I could see myself listening to as I’m driving around with the windows down.

Eric Church, Lainey Wilson, Luke Bryan, Jelly Roll and More Honor Late Toby Keith in TV Special: All the Highlights

T he sellout concert, staged in Nashville, features two hours packed with memorable performances and heartfelt tributes to the icon, who died earlier this year

Though Toby Keith took his final breath earlier this year, his spirit is alive — and what Keith did best — kicking ass on NBC’s much-anticipated tribute concert that airs tonight.

Toby Keith: American Icon was filmed before a sellout crowd at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena in late July, and a flock of his famous friends and admirers, including Carrie Underwood , Luke Bryan , Eric Church and Lainey Wilson , showed up to honor the country legend.

Though, naturally, there were tearful moments, the evening was mostly a joyful celebration of Keith, who succumbed to stomach cancer , at age 62, on Feb. 5 in his native Oklahoma. He left behind a treasure trove of music that reflect his rare combination of qualities — rowdy showman, passionate patriot, tender family man, gifted wordsmith — and all were elevated during the two-hour event.

PEOPLE had a prime seat in the arena, and here are can’t-miss highlights that viewers can look forward to:

Church's Gratitude

One of the maverick superstars who came after Keith, Eric Church reminisces to the audience about his early days when he couldn’t get a gig. “Toby Keith was the guy that called,” Church recollects, “and said, ‘Hey, why don’t you come play shows with me?’” Church is now about the same age as Keith was when he made that offer, which makes the song that Church performs, “I’m Not as Good as I Once Was,” a perfect match.

  "You Are Truth"

Ashley McBryde pays homage to Keith’s Songwriters Hall of Fame career, touching her heart and declaring: “Being a songwriter is about being truthful, and Toby, you are truth.” Her musical contribution is a stirring delivery of “I Wish I Didn’t Know Now.”

Earlier, on the red carpet, McBryde recalled opening for Keith in her early-career days. “He made sure that I was seen and that I was comfortable,” she told PEOPLE. “And in doing that, he taught a very green, very young artist how to treat people. Now my experience with Toby gets to be other artists’ experiences with me.”

Ride 'Em, Lainey

Wilson knows how to make a memorable entrance: She first appears at the rear of the arena on the back of Cowboy, the horse she’s ridden as a co-star on blockbuster TV drama Yellowstone . Horse and rider follow a meandering trail to the lip of the stage, where Wilson dismounts to join Jamey Johnson for a rousing duet of — what else? — “Beer for My Horses.”

Changing Hats

Tapped to sing “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” Luke Bryan abandons his trademark ball cap for a black cowboy hat, and he tells its touching backstory, recalling how he cut his teeth singing Toby Keith songs in Georgia bars. His sister, who died in 2007, gave him the cowboy hat to wear during that early era.

“I used to wear this hat every night,” Bryan explains, “and ever since I lost my sister, I haven’t put this hat onstage in a lot of years … and I was walking out of the house [tonight], and I said, you know what, I’m just an old country boy from Georgia, but Toby Keith certainly made me want to be a cowboy.”

  Jelly Roll's Tearjerker

Keith’s wise lyrics for a good life, contained in “My List,” take on even more meaning now that their writer is gone: “I won’t break my back for a million bucks / I can't take to my grave / So why put off for tomorrow / What I could get done today.”

Introducing the song, Jelly Roll shares that Keith “inspired me to be a better father,” and he dedicates it to Keith’s family, who sit on one side of the stage (below a giant U.S. flag and a scaffold filled with soldiers from nearby Fort Campbell). Jelly delivers the lyrics with subdued authority, bringing many in the audience, including Keith’s son, Stelen Covel , to tears.

Rising to the Challenge

Krystal Keith, the honoree's 38-year-old daughter, soars through the poignant life lessons of “Don’t Let the Old Man In,” despite the worry she expressed, earlier on the red carpet, about even getting through the song. Toby Keith memorably performed it last fall at the People’s Choice Country Awards.

Related: Krystal Keith Says Listening to Dad Toby Keith's Music 'Constantly' Helps Her 'Hold onto the Gratitude' (Exclusive)

The show’s producers, Krystal Keith explained, picked it for her to sing, and “I had to really just kind of talk myself into it. It’s definitely a heart-wrenching song.” (Even more so, given Keith’s two-year battle with cancer. He wrote the song and originally sang it for the 2018 Clint Eastwood film, The Mule.)

Let's Have a Party!

A makeshift bar on the side of the stage opposite the Keith family keeps the party vibes flowing throughout the evening; the artists all gather there after their performances.

But leave it to merrymaker Tyler Hubbard to move the party-hearty atmosphere to center stage with a raucous delivery of “Red Solo Cup.” One of the few Keith hits that he did not write, he famously called it “the stupidest song that I have ever heard in my life,” but also “freakin’ awesome.” The songs four writers, Brett Beavers, Jim Beavers, Brad Warren and Brett Warren, join Hubbard (as they joined Keith on the original recording), along with Jordan Davis , HARDY and Jelly Roll.

Show Stealer

Perhaps the most surprising moment of the evening occurs when Jelly Roll announces Keith had “one more great performance” that had yet to be seen. Jelly then introduces a video of the late artist in his final studio session recording “Ships That Don’t Come In” for HARDY’s Hixtape Volume 3 , which celebrates the music of the late Joe Diffie . In those brief three minutes, Keith steals the show with his interpretation of the song’s achingly wistful lyrics.

Call to Duty

Keith’s close friend Trace Adkins is tapped for the late artist’s iconic salute to the military, “American Soldier,” and the moment is made even more dramatic by the appearance onstage of a U.S. Army color guard preceding the performance.

Earlier, on the red carpet, Adkins said Keith’s “love for the men and women who serve this country was absolutely genuine. To be able to sing this song that meant so much to him means the world to me, too.”

Red, White and Blue Finale

Keith’s feisty signature song, “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (The Angry American)” was the last song he performed publicly, at each of his trio of final concerts last December in Las Vegas. It closes out the tribute, as well, and perhaps it’s appropriate that Parker McCollum , among the bright stars of country’s new generation, takes the helm.

Though he never met Keith, McCollum explained on the red carpet that he grew up a huge fan, and he uses Keith’s career and life as a source of inspiration: “I’ve thought about how many times he probably had days that he was gonna throw in a towel. I'm sure he felt those things. But that man embodies what it takes to make country music in this town.”

McCollum doesn’t have to go it alone with his daunting assignment: Not only does the entire cast join him on the second verse, but the majority of the capacity crowd also lustily proves they know every last word of the flag-waving anthem.

Toby Keith: American Icon, a two-hour special, airs at 9 p.m. ET/8 CT Wednesday on NBC, and it will begin streaming on Thursday on Peacock. A portion of concert ticket sales have been donated to The Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral — a cost-free home in Oklahoma City for families of children dealing with critical illnesses — and Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Ukraine war latest: Drones used in Russian 'double tap' attack; Putin to visit country with power to arrest him

Vladimir Putin will visit Mongolia next week, the Kremlin has announced. The country is a member of the International Criminal Court, which issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president last year for the alleged unlawful deportation and transfer of children.

Ursula von der Leyen has accused some EU politicians of shifting the blame for Russia's war on Ukraine.

Speaking at the Globsec think tank conference in Prague, the European Commission president did not name the politicians she was referring to.

"They blame the war not on the invader but on the invaded. Not on Putin's lust for power, but on Ukraine's thirst for freedom," she said.

"So, I want to ask them: would you ever blame the Hungarians for the Soviet invasion of 1956? Would you ever blame the Czechs for the Soviet oppression of 1968?

"The Kremlin's behaviour was evil and atrocious back then, and it is evil and atrocious today."

For context: The governments of Slovakia and Hungary have both been critical of the EU's support for Ukraine.

Both nations have opposed sending military aid to Kyiv and have strengthened their economic ties with Russia at the same time.

Earlier, we reported on the overnight drone attack that killed two people in Ukraine's Sumy region (see 12.48 post).

More details have now emerged, with Ukraine's prosecutor general's office saying the factory that was hit manufactured packaging for baby food, juices and household products.

The airstrike caused a fire, prompting authorities to tell residents to stay inside and close their windows because of air pollution.

Eleven people were injured in the attack. A 48-year-old woman and a 37-year-old woman are confirmed to have died.

By Ivor Bennett , Moscow correspondent

Just imagine the scene. Vladimir Putin steps off his presidential plane after touching down in Mongolia and, within seconds, he's in handcuffs.

It would be an astonishing sight - the leader of one of the UN Security Council's permanent members placed under arrest for suspected war crimes.

In fact, it would be unprecedented. But it's also very unlikely.

Yes, it is what should happen in theory.

Mongolia is a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president in March 2023 for the alleged unlawful deportation and transfer of children.

All ICC members are compelled to detain suspects for whom an arrest warrant has been issued, should they set foot on their soil. Mongolia is no exception.

But in reality, the country will not want to risk the ire of its powerful neighbour, on whom it has huge economic dependence.

The fallout with Moscow would likely be far worse, and more harmful to Mongolia than any consequences from upsetting the Hague.

There would be anger from activists and political condemnation if the East Asian country doesn't follow its obligations, but the ICC doesn't have the power to enforce them.

What's more, it wouldn't be the first time a court member has ignored the rules.

In 2015, South Africa chose not to detain the then Sudanese President Omar al Bashir when he visited the country, despite an active arrest warrant.

South Africa took a different approach last year however, when it hosted a summit for a group of trading nations known as BRICS, which Putin normally attends. Not wanting to be in the same position again, South Africa managed to persuade him to stay at home and join via video link instead.

But Mongolia doesn't have that clout with the Kremlin, which said it had "no worries" about the trip. Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov added Russia has a "wonderful dialogue" with its neighbour.

It's safe to assume that "dialogue" will have included assurances from Mongolia that Russia's president won't end up in chains. And for Putin, that would represent a big win in the diplomatic war being waged by Russia alongside its conflict in Ukraine.

It's a way to needle the West and undermine the rules-based international order which he so often rails against.

The Ukrainian pilot killed when his F-16 fighter jet crashed on Monday was shot down by Ukraine's own anti-aircraft missile system, a Kyiv official has claimed.

Lieutenant Colonel Oleksiy Mes was killed while defending Ukraine's skies from Russia's huge aerial attack at the start of the week.

Ukrainian MP Mariana Bezuhla wrote on X that the jet had been shot down by a US-supplied Patriot missile.

"War is war, such episodes are possible," she said, adding there was a "lack of coordination between the units".

She also accused Ukraine's air force of having a "culture of lies".

In response, the commander of Ukraine's air force said Ms Bezuhla's comments were a "tool to discredit the top military leadership".

Posting on Telegram, Mykola Oleschuk said: "Mariana, the time will come when you will apologise to the entire army for what you have done, I hope in court!"

He added that an investigation is under way into the death of Lt Col Mes and the US is also looking into the situation.

A funeral for Lt Col Mes was held yesterday, with fighter jets conducting a fly-by.

For context:  Ms Bezuhla has repeatedly made headlines with her criticisms of former and current Ukrainian military leadership.

She previously criticised Cdr Oleshchuk for a supposed lack of preparations for receiving F-16s from Western partners.

The body of a 37-year-old woman has been found after an overnight drone strike in Ukraine's eastern Sumy region, officials have said.

The region's prosecutor's office said a building was hit at around 1.30am local time.

An initial nine people were wounded in the attack before a later update confirmed that a 48-year-old woman had died in hospital.

The second victim was found under rubble by search and rescue teams.

Russian forces are pushing forward on the eastern front as part of their ongoing offensive operation to seize Pokrovsk.

The key mining city is seen by Moscow as a big stepping stone in its aim of holding the entire Donbas region.

The map below shows Russia's gains on Ukrainian territory.

On the eastern front, Ukraine still hold a significant amount of territory inside Russia's Kursk region.

Moscow has been forced to evacuate civilians out of the area's now held by Kyiv following its surprise invasion of the region on 6 August.

The map below shows the situation since its invasion of the border region began.

Vladimir Putin has sent a celebratory message to Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko and handed him Russia's highest state award on his 70th birthday.

The Russian president said in a telegram that Mr Lukashenko was a "true patriot" and a "wise politician", adding it was difficult to underestimate his personal contribution to Russian-Belarusian relations.

"I sincerely value our good friendly relations, which have fully stood the test of time, and, of course, I am confident that through joint efforts we will continue to do everything possible to build up fruitful Russian-Belarusian cooperation," wrote Mr Putin.

A decree on the Kremlin website stated that Mr Lukashenko was receiving the Order of St Andrew - Russia's highest military and civil award - "for outstanding achievements in the development of relations" between Russia and Belarus.

Others to have received the award include Chinese leader Xi Jinping and, most recently, India's prime minister, Narendra Modi.

For context:  Belarus is considered one of Russia's closest allies.

The Lukashenko regime has played a key role in Russia's war in Ukraine, allowing Moscow to stage its assault on Kyiv from Belarus.

Yesterday, Kyiv said it was keeping a close eye on its border with Belarus after a build-up of troops there in recent days.

Mr Lukashenko said yesterday that he had no intentions of sending Belarusian troops to fight on foreign soil.

The International Atomic Energy Agency chief will visit Ukraine next week to "hold high-level talks" and visit the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.

The nuclear watchdog says its team stationed at the facility has "continued to hear explosions" and was forced into a bomb shelter this month after reported drone threats in the area.

The plant was hit by a drone strike in April in what the IAEA called a "serious incident that endangered nuclear safety and security".

IAEA director Rafael Grossi has continued to warn against fighting occurring near nuclear plants.

"My message has been loud and clear throughout this tragic war: a nuclear accident must be avoided at all costs, and a nuclear power plant must never be attacked." he said.

"The consequences could be disastrous, and no one stands to benefit from it. I remain determined to do everything in my power to protect nuclear safety and security as long as the fighting continues."

Earlier this week, Mr Grossi visited a Russian nuclear facility in the Kursk region, where he said there was a danger or a possibility of a "nuclear accident" due to the close proximity of military activity.

An overnight attack in Ukraine's eastern Sumy region has killed one person and injured others, officials have said.

The region's prosecutor's office said a building in Sumy was hit at around 1.30am local time "using methods of warfare prohibited by international law".

It said an initial nine people were wounded by the attack, with firefighters tackling the blaze. A later update confirmed that a 48-year-old woman had died in hospital.

It comes after officials reported that least three people were injured yesterday in a "double tap" attack in Seredyna-Buda.

A "double tap" attack is when an initial airstrike is followed by a second strike on the same target.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has shared a message of support for Ukraine's Paralympians competing in Paris.

Ukraine won its first four medals of the Paralympic Games yesterday, with all four coming in the pool.

Anton Kohl and Iryna Poyda won silver in the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle respectively, while Anna Gontar won bronze in the 50m freestyle swimming and Oleksandr Komarov won the same in the 200m freestyle.

Posting on his Telegram channel, Ukraine's president said: "Great start! Every victory of our athletes inspires our entire country. Keep it up!"
