  • Easemytrip full refund-things to know

  Easemytrip is advertising that customers can get full refund of their flight tickets in case of medical emergencies. While this looks exciting, it is important to know the finer details. This post shares you key information you should know about Easemytrip full refund coverage

Full refund is limited to a maximum of 5000 INR. This would have worked few years back when most domestic flights were selling for less than 5000. But at present,most destinations cost more than 5000. So except for some short sectors where ticket price was less, don’t expect full refund if your ticket is costing 6000-12000 INR

Only for domestic flights

There is no extra fee for this. I was thinking there could be an extra charge while booking to be eligible for free refunds. But as of now there is no extra charge.

Claim is eligible only in case of specific scenarios called out in this doc. (deaths in family, passport loss, contingencies etc) https://www.easemytrip.com/pdf/Domestic-Flight-Cancellation-Insurance.pdf You have to wait for airline to refund whatever they refund and then for the balance you’ve to claim with insurance company with all the paperwork.

Convenience fee will still be deducted. So it is not 100%, maybe 90% at best.

The claim process is not explained in the doc. My guess is you’ve to submit a pile of paperwork, wait for the airline to refund whatever they refund and then wait for Easemytrip team to process your request. No timeline has been committed for claim processing

Not sure what happens if airline takes their own sweet time to process refund. Many airlines have still not refunded for 2020 pandemic flight cancellations.

If your ticket had cost 9000 INR and airline refunds 4000, you can claim another 1000 minus convenience fee (may be around 300-400 INR) from Easemytrip full refund. If ticket cost is 4500, airline refunds nothing, you will get 4500 minus convenience fee, some 4000 INR from this scheme.

Is this a good idea then? 

As there is no extra charge for this, you can try it out. Book through easemytrip and select a full medical refund policy. If you happen to encounter such a situation then hope that you get a little more money back than what you would have otherwise got.

Easy Trip Planners (EaseMyTrip), India’s online travel agency has announced the launch of an industry-first, free of charge, full refund medical policy through which customers can claim a complete refund on domestic air ticket cancellations caused due to medical emergencies.

As a part of this policy, customers will get a complete refund including the money deducted by airlines and there will be no additional charges for this service.

This free of charge refund policy provides confidence to travelers as it eliminates the risk of losing money in case of a booking cancellation due to a medical emergency. The policy is also aimed to revive the airline, travel and tourism industry which has faced severe disruptions since the onset of the pandemic.

Speaking on the initiative, Rikant Pitti, Co-Founder, EaseMyTrip, said, “We are delighted to launch a first of its kind, free of charge, full refund medical policy which will provide our customers with peace of mind while making travel plans. To avail this service, a customer has to choose this policy while booking their domestic ticket, and they can claim it by uploading a doctor’s prescription citing the medical illness.

The offer is available to all EaseMyTrip users and is applicable on all domestic flight bookings made on the portal’s website and mobile site. Once a domestic trip is booked on the platform, the customer will receive a flight cancellation coverage policy on their registered email id.

Do not book on Ease My Trip …

I booked the wrong sector for my husband, and called Ease my trip immediately within 15 mins for assistance. They were most unhelpful. Rashmi and Gurpreet in specific. The airline Vistara (Sapna) refunded me the full amount and deducted only Rs. 1000. Then I called Ease my Trip to confirm this and got another customer service agent called Muskaan. She inform me that she cannot confirm anything. I am asking such a tech savvy platform would not know how much was deducted by the airline. She refused to give me any information and asked me to wait for 48 hours. So it's obviously a company that is cheating customers that is why they do not disclose the information. East my Trip can learn a thing or two on transparency of digital transactions from Swiggy and Uber and Zomato. Use EMT platform for ticket bookings if you want to lose your money if you make a booking mistake.

Do not use this travel agency SCAM !

Recently,I 've share the incident as well checking the Fare online web site for GB and In ,but we receive the rate fluctuations on reached the web site ,option is not visible connected to bia -whatsapp and over the call , Please dear all do not use the this travel agency I'm not understanding the Fare up -down as well . Team ,If possible please in my personal opinion first of all please check the rate fluctuations price before that selling the ticket on web site . Over all very bad experience.

I did not read the reviews and wish l did. I have paid for my ticket and received PNR:LITCUP. REF:EMRUK3375245 A few minutes afterwards l received a call from someone asking me to change my dates or pay extra money. I have just checked with airline and the ticket is not confirmed. Please can l have the ticket issued. Post review Was helped by Roger with the issue of the ticket. Had to pay a slight difference but ticket was issued and confirmed with airline. Roger was helpful and took my concerns in consideration.

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service. We bought two tickets on their website for a reasonable price, but post 24 hours after buying ticket, they called back saying the ticket hasnt been confirmed as the price has gone up. We had to shell additional £400 to confirm the ticket. Following ticket confirmation we found out that agent caused us massive inconvenience by giving his email address as contact to the airlines, due to which we can't manage the ticket booking or Web check-in on the airline website as the OTP from the airlines was being sent to the agents website. Please avoid this website, the price on their website is not worth the hassle.

Unethical operations

SCAM company

SCAM company, booked online then someone call and ask you to change to another flight or pay £337 more, refused to refund and force me to change to another flight

Bunch of crooks

They are a bunch of crooks. As reviewed by many they will first book a ticket and then they will ask you again to pay additional money to confirm your ticket. I booked a ticket which had a label of fully refundable. Well guess what, at time of cancellation they show you T&Cs. I had to reschedule and paid the charges and fare difference. Again, the crooks sent me payment links to pay additional money. I am sure these payments go straight to the crooks pocket sitting in their customer care. Edit after seeing response: You have not provided invoice with details of all payments made. I am a 1000% convinced that the crooks have pocketed the additional amount Rs 7900 I paid for rescheduling. I have been chatting with their customer care for hours. Still no update. Edit 2 after their response: EaseMyTrip asked additional Rs 7900 after I paid for rescheduling. I have asked their Customer care at least 10 times to provide invoice for the same. They haven't done it yet!!

Shady company

I wanted to take a moment to share a concerning experience I had with Easemytrip, in the hope that it may help others avoid similar challenges. I recently purchased a ticket through their service and received a booking confirmation. However, the next day, I was contacted with news of a price increase, requiring me to pay an additional fee of 70 pounds to secure my ticket. They insisted that the ticket was non-refundable, adding to the pressure. I mentioned that I would be contacting my bank to inform I was scammed and to cancel the pending transaction and hang up. They called me again late on a Saturday evening, stating that they had a ticket available for the day before, but with an increase of 30 pounds. After some back and forth, I insisted on a refund. Unfortunately, after finally receiving a refund confirmation, I noticed that it was 35 euros less than what I originally paid. Overall, this situation felt rather shady and I consider myself lucky to have received any refund at all. I urge everyone to exercise caution when dealing with this company, as my experience suggests it may not be entirely trustworthy. Stay safe and be aware!

SCAM ALERT!Please be aware of a potential scam. I booked my ticket and received an e-ticket. Shortly after, I received a call informing me that my return date was not available and that I would need to pay more money. However, upon checking with the airline, I found that the schedule was accurate. It appeared that I was being threatened to pay more money. Consequently, I canceled my ticket and purchased it from another website. The information provided in the response appears to be inaccurate. The pricing remained consistent for a period of four hours following my reservation. Furthermore, upon contacting with the airline, I was informed that neither the schedule nor the rates had undergone any modifications.

No refund for failed transaction not leading to confirmed ticket

While booking a flight though their website the transaction failed. Got no confirmation for the ticket confirmation and the money was still deducted. The failed transaction message on their website says refund will he initiated in 24hours. Its been 8 days, numerous calls to their call center without any help, they keep asking to mail and when you mail they don't respond on the mails either. Pathetic service and customer care. Avoid booking though them. Have filed a dispute through the bank on them to solve this. Edit: Have sent you the details on the number provided in your response. EMT137308039 has all the information you need. Update 1 day after your comment below: Noone reached out or replied. The issue still remains. Your eagerness to NOT help clearly shows! Update: money received. Thank you. In future, it would be appreciated if your helpline/mails teams responded in reasonable time.

Worst airline portal in the world: easemytrip

Worst airline portal in the world, use retargeted marketing for increasing flight tickets rates. Shows lesser price earlier later on asking increased price siting flight price increased. On top of it they charged for every single request you made to them. Their algorithm is always failed to book the exact tickets. There team only reach you out when you do reviews online else who cares attitude.

Beware of insurance fraud

Booked bus tickets from bangalore to hometown and return journey. I opted for acko travel insurance by paying extra amount. The amount was deducted but the insurance policy was not issued for either tickets, despite multiple follow ups and long waiting on call.

SCAM!! Fake cheap price only lures to pay first, then scam you for more

They advertise FAKE lower rates to lure you into purchasing a ticket, but after take your money, they will NEVER honor the price you paid. Instead, they'll call and ask you to pay more, claiming "the price increased." The extra amount they demand over the phone lacks transparency, also making it much more expensive than booking on a competitor site. This completely undermines the concept and transparency of online booking. Dial-a-ticket?? It feels like they’re still stuck in the 90s. They exploit the fact that customers have invested time searching for tickets, have paid, and don’t want to deal with prolonged refunds and uncertainty. They back customers into a corner, so many customers ended up paid extra, resulting a more expensive purchase. THIS CAN’T BE LEGAL

I have bought my tickets from easymytrip after some changes from Turkish airlines for some reason I didn’t get any notice from here and we set off for our trip like the information we had in airport they said it has changed. Tension free holidays planned and executed …

EaseMyTrip offers full refund, no cancellation charge on flight tickets

Online travel agency platform EaseMyTrip is offering full refunds and no cancellation charges on domestic air tickets booked through their platform.

Customers can avail of the refund by uploading a doctor's prescription if they cancel tickets due to an illness or if any of their loved ones fall ill, the company said in a press release.

The company's move comes in the wake of a rise in advance bookings due to uncertainties around available capacity in domestic flights and lockdowns being imposed by state governments to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"Led by a surge in domestic travel, advance booking have doubled this year compared to last year. In fact, bookings are up three times in the past few days compared to mid-May," said Nishant Pitti, CEO and Co-Founder, EaseMyTrip.

In the past two weeks, tourists have rushed to popular destinations to celebrate the end of lockdown restrictions.

Vaccine development is a long, complex process. Unlike drugs that are given to people with a diseased, vaccines are given to healthy people and also vulnerable sections such as children, pregnant women and the elderly. So rigorous tests are compulsory. History says that the fastest time it took to develop a vaccine is five years, but it usually takes double or sometimes triple that time.

"We anticipate a huge pent-up demand for the travel and tourism sector post the vaccination drive across India, giving us strong revenue visibility for years to come. All in all, we are hopeful of more than 100 percent growth vis-a-vis last year," Pitti had said earlier this week.

Pitti said the increased pace of vaccination in the country and the government's decision to provide free visas to the first five lakh tourists will boost the country's inbound tourism as well as the economic activities and sectors that are dependent on it.

EaseMyTrip has launched a full refund policy to allow customers to claim refund of the entire amount in case medical emergencies force domestic air ticket cancellations. Under the policy, the online travel agency will return to customers the entire amount, including the deductions made by airlines at no extra cost. This is the first such policy in the industry, the company said in a statement.

Amid rising uncertainty over travel due to Covid-19, the online travel agency hopes the unique policy would boost traveller confidence by eliminating the risk of losing money in case a medical emergency leads to a booking cancellation. The policy also aims to revive the airline and travel and tourism industries that have been among the hardest hit by the deadly pandemic.

Rikant Pitti, Co-Founder, EaseMyTrip said the company was committed to customers’ needs, and this unique scheme had been developed to provide them with additional flexibility during these unprecedented times. He said there is a strong demand for travel but consumers remain concerned about booking refunds and cancellations. The initiative was launched as part of the company’s efforts to boost travel confidence as well as help the travel and tourism sector recover.

A customer booking a domestic flight on the company’s website has to choose the policy, and can make the claim simply by uploading a doctor’s prescription of the medical illness. The company has extended the offer to all users, and will be applicable on domestic flight bookings made on EaseMyTrip — either on the website or the mobile site. Once the ticket is booked, the customer will get an email on the flight cancellation coverage policy. The company already offers the option of no-convenience fee during bookings.

EaseMyTrip was India’s fastest growing travel portal between FY18 to FY20 on the basis of gross booking revenue.

When we later enquired at customer care, we were not helped. We are very hurt by this and will not make any booking through you in future and will also share our feedback on Google. EaseMyTrip app gives wrong guidance and makes fake bookings. This app should not be downloaded.

Following the purchase of a ticket, Air China cannot confirm the outbound flight and offered me either an upgrade option or a different date, both were significantly higher than market rates. I then requested a full refund but they said there were cancellation fees because the return flight had already been confirmed. My options following a purchase were either to pay extra or pay extra! To my knowledge, this is illegal and a scam.
