Every week of the year, the award-winning Aqua Expeditions’ luxurious Aria Amazon takes 32 passengers deep into Peru’s Amazon wilderness to places only ever visited by only a fortunate few.

In 2015, the Aria Amazon, which first set sail in 2011, was completely refreshed with new upgrades from bed linens to state-of-the-art lighting. The 45 meter (147 foot) long Aria was designed by the innovative Peruvian architect Jordi Puig.

The Amazon´s itineraries

The Amazon’s itineraries: Enjoy a 7-night, 4-night or 3-night Amazon river cruise on the Aria Amazon. Guests travel far into the depths of the Amazon’s rainforests enjoying an intimate glimpse of her wildlife, ecosystems, local customs and jungle landscapes. The Aria Amazon is also available for private charter.

Listen to the many species of Peruvian birds, as they call to their mates through the leafy canopy. Learn about the habitats essential to the livelihoods of the endangered Amazon River dolphins, taricaya turtles and manatee. Weather in this region of the Amazon remains generally warm with some rainfall even during low water season.

In fact, despite being the “rainy” season, during the high-water months, the Amazon only gets about 10% more rain than in the low water season.

All 16 Design Suites on the Aria Amazon across the first and second deck measure 23 square meters (250 square feet), with individual air conditioning, polished timber flooring and a wall of floor to ceiling glass facing the Amazon River. En suite bathrooms with rain shower and organic bath amenities incorporate the latest eco-sensitive technology.

Soft lighting, natural fibers and neutral hues create a relaxing and luxuriously comfortable enclave where one’s only challenge may be to decide whether to gaze upon the Amazon from atop the California king size bed (which can be separated into two twin beds) made with 100% Peruvian cotton high thread count sheets or while lounging on the cozy window-side day bed, binoculars in hand.

Interconnecting Suites For the ultimate luxury, passengers may select a pair of interconnecting suites, either for families or with one suite configured as a private living room, the other a master bedroom, plus his-and-hers bathrooms.

Please note: Aria Amazon  does not have Internet connection on board , though guests report periodically connecting via roaming on their iPhone or other handheld devices, depending on our proximity to more developed areas. For cellular phone contact you may need a special telephone that can operate on a foreign signal although, keep in mind that most areas outside Iquitos are so remote that you will be unable to get a signal. If you need to contact your home or office for any emergency, the Aria Amazon is equipped with a satellite phone. We will inform you, prior to calling, of the current price of an international call and you may pay for these directly on board.

Coffee table books about Peru and the Amazon are available for perusing and most days will include an educational discussion held here. These entertaining forums are open to all and led by our English speaking naturalist guides on relevant topics to the day’s adventures, from endangered Taricaya turtle repopulation to the secrets of mixing a perfect pisco sour.

Outdoor Lounge

Nature takes care of the lighting on our generous outdoor deck on the Aria Amazon, with plenty of sunshine for those who wish to soak it up on cushioned loungers during the day to cooler evenings under the star filled sky. Guests seeking fresh Amazon air without being exposed to the sun will find plenty of space and comfortable seating under the expansive awning of the outdoor lounge. While all our Amazon luxury cruises offer a full day of activities and excursions, we also invite our guests to opt out as they wish. Observation Deck

Many guests on the Amazon Aria arrive thinking that most of their days will be spent alternating between Amazon River shore excursions and lounging in relaxation in the privacy of their spacious suites. In fact, most of our guests enjoy experiencing the social life of the Aria Amazon’s Observation Deck, observing Amazon River locals and wildlife firsthand, as we glide by the Amazon rainforest and clusters of simple wooden houses on stilts with children playing soccer at the river’s edge.

The Observation Deck on the Aria’s top level is complemented by the Indoor Lounge, with its fully stocked bar at one end and tightly edited library at the other, fresh Amazon flowers and unique artifacts in between, beckons lounging on its well stuffed cream sofas on polished timber floors under high ceilings. Outside, cushioned loungers under a soaring canopy encourage the relaxing indulgence of river gazing without concern for the sun’s glare. Or ease into the Aqua Aria’s outdoor Jacuzzi to cool off after a shore excursion in the sultry rainforest.

Excercise , Fitness

The Aria Amazon’s signature walls of glass come in especially helpful here in the ship’s dedicated workout space, offering engrossing distraction for guests on the treadmill and stationary bicycle.

We are taking the Grand Circle Travel River Cruise The Great Rivers of Europe in June on the River Aria. Is anyone familiar with this ship? We are starting the trip with the pre-trip to Vienna. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The Aria is a great boat. We went on the Great Rivers last May and were on the Aria. It is newer than Rhaposdy etc. The thing we liked the best were the 2 small lounges just above reception. One was a card and game rooom and the other a library. We went there to consume our "beverages" which we brought from home so as not to be in the bar area. The cabins were also nicer. The crew was outstanding---the best we have had in 4 trips. We signed up for the Black Sea trip and at the time were on the Area. We received a letter saying that we were now on the Adagio, whihc is the same layout. At a GCT brunch in Ft. Lauderale they said that the Aria had been leased out. I am glad that it is back. If you need any other info jut let me know, We leave May 5 for the Black Sea---river trip #5.

I have taken two trips on the River Aira with GCT the first one in 2002 from Passau to Budapest and the second one in 2004 from Bucharest to Budapest. I found that the ship was well kept and very comfortable. The bed were not a problem for me as I was in Room 300 one time and Room 325 on the second trip. The food was good and I enjoyed the people on the ship and the crew. Although these trips were some time ago I have always been pleased with the GCT trips that I have taken. I took the Great Rivers of Europe in 2005 that you are taking from Vienna to Amsterdam only this time it was on the MS Bizet and that was my all time favorite trip of the four I have taken with GCT. The last one was in 2006 The Romance of the Rhine & Mosel Rivers from Antwerp to Basel on the MS Debussy which was also a nice ship although smaller then the River Aria.

My wife and I will also be on the Adagio in May. We fly to Bucharest May 8th, but we are not doing the pre-trip. My in-laws have been on the Adagio and it is very similar to the Aria. Last April, Nancy and I were on the Concerto in Amsterdam and Brussels. Springtime was gorgeous.

We are so looking forward to this trip, since we have not been to any of these countries. My in-laws did this trip a couple of years ago and loved it.:D

We were on the Aria for the Great Rivers GCT trip just last October. Great trip and ship. The crew, including the captain, were all charming, friendly and eager to ensure that we had a wonderful trip. The food was consistently excellent and very plentiful. The ship is well laid out and the beds are SO comfortable. (The seats that they become during the day--not so comfortable--. If we wanted to read in the cabin, we just put the beds down. You can put the head of the bed up to make it like a chaise.) The itinerary is filled with great medieval towns, beautiful vineyards and riverside scenery, and fascinating river traffic. You even sail OVER a road while on the Main-Danube Canal. Don't miss the Old Sausage Kitchen in Regensburg! I just sadly finished off my supply of the fantastic mustard they sell there. Have a great trip!

Enjoyed the Aria. Food was quite good and the staff was very good.

Hi, everyone. I just signed up for an Old World Prague and the Blue Danube River cruise, on the River Aria, for Sept. 30th. I am going solo. Is anyone else going on this trip?

We are taking that trip on the River Aria on July 31 and doing the Budapest post-trip. Will try to remember to let you know how it was.

DH & I have cruised 6 times with GCT- all trips have been wonderful. However, we have not been on the River Aria yet. We're taking our first Christmas market cruise this coming December. If you don't find other cruisers on the site, you might have better luck on the Roll Call site. Either add a new post or add to the existing Christmas Market thread.

S.S. Beatrice

The S.S. Beatrice boasts yacht-style light wood with blue and white finishes throughout, a renovated lobby featuring elegant mirrors, marble floors, a white Murano chandelier with blue shades and a grand staircase made of nickel and black iron—a signature design element of Uniworld’s Super Ships. The ship’s redesigned lounge features sofas and chairs with hand-made upholstery, a parquet floor and upholstered ceiling panels, solar shades and new USB ports allowing guests to charge anywhere they are sitting. The artwork throughout the ship includes pieces from Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder and Pino Signoretto.

S.S. Bon Voyage

With her transformation, the S.S. Bon Voyage will debut a completely different look—including a redesigned top deck with an added swimming pool and lounge area, with an adjacent casual dining venue featuring lighter fare with a local spin and chef-led cooking classes. Inside, four new gorgeously-appointed suites will be introduced, as well as marble bathrooms throughout the ship, an enhanced dining room with an added chef demonstration area, and a new bistro inspired by Bouillon Pigalle in Paris. All finished perfectly in the unique and beautiful design aesthetic that Uniworld is known for, and paired with the addition of more crew members for a higher crew-to-guest ratio.

The 2011-built RV Aria Amazon ship cruises on Amazon River in Peru (South America), and also on the rivers Yanalipa, Yarapa and Ucayali. Departures are from Callao-Lima (Peru) , but the embarkations/debarkations are in homeport Iquitos (Peruvian Amazon) .

Besides Aria Amazon, Aqua Expeditions fleet also includes Aqua Nera (2020/Peruvian Amazon), Aqua Blu (2019/East Indonesia) and Aqua Mekong (2014/Mekong River).

The luxury houseboat Aria Amazon is owned by Aqua Expeditions (2008-founded, Singapore -based travel company) and also chartered by Avalon Waterways and Uniworld . This magnificent vessel was designed by Jordi Puig (Peruvian architect) and provides extraordinary comfort for just 32 passengers in 16 suites - all with floor-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows.

RV Aria Amason is a motorized premium "houseboat cruiser" launched in April 2011. The vessel was built with the right size to sail the mighty river, offering the unique rainforest wildlife-watching experience perfectly combined with the luxurious comfort of its most spacious accommodations and public areas.

Aria also has the industry's new trendy features - floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows throughout, classy indoor/outdoor lounge, air-conditioned rooms, top-deck Jacuzzi, indoor dining room, Gym/exercise room, luxury Boutique/gift shop. The ship has a fleet of 4 aluminum skiffs (motorized speedboats, each with capacity 10 passengers plus 1 crew).

The ship's amenities include a large top-deck lounge (teak floored, with a shade system), complimentary coffee and soft beverages, English-speaking staff/crew, four certified multilingual naturalists for onboard natural history lectures, a stargazing enrichment program, paramedic/physician, Cruise Director, Gym (with modern fitness equipment), satellite phone, safety equipment. Dining - traditional Peruvian cuisine (Aqua Expeditions menu was designed by Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino).

Aqua Expeditions Aria Amazon cruise prices are inclusive of all meals onboard, all excursions, beverages (non-alcoholic, house wine, beer), transfers to/from the boat (with the recommended flights), Peru's "Pacaya Samiria" National Reserve entrance fee. The boat is often chartered by the Globus-Avalon Waterways line, but also from other river cruise lines offering luxury Amazon River travel deals in South America. Decks and cabins

RV Aria Amazon staterooms (16 total) spread on 2 out of 3 floors/decks . All passenger cabins feature elegant design (to maximize the interior space and enhance the natural light), modern furniture and 5-star hotel amenities.

All Suites are equally sized (23 m2 / 250 ft2) and with triple occupancy, as their interior sofas are convertible (form a sofabed for 1 child).

Of all staterooms, 8 Design Suites (on decks 1 and 2) can be booked as "family cabins". These 4 pairs of interconnecting cabins (combo-sized 46 m2 / 500 ft2) are connected via sliding doors. Accommodating up to 6 passengers, these "2-room suites" are configured as lounge/living room plus the master bedroom, and with his-and-hers bathrooms.

As standard amenities, all staterooms provide custom-made, King-size beds (sized 2,1x2m, convertible to two twin beds / 1,05m x 2m), premium bedding (Peruvian cotton sheets, duvets), bedside cabinets with lamps, floor-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows with double curtains, slide-opening double wardrobe (mirrored closet with drawers and electronic safe box), phone (intercom system), round coffee table, lounge sofabed, music docking station (MP3-Player and Cell-Phone Audio Docks), coffee/tea making facility, professional hairdryer, en-suite bathrooms (walk-in shower, overhead rain shower, single-sink vanities, lighted mirror, natural organic bath- and hair products), individually controlled air-conditioning, complimentary bottled water (replenished daily), 24-hour room service (complimentary).

In November 2016, Aqua Expeditions announced two female-only themed cruises for 2017 - on the ships Aqua Mekong and Aria Amazon. Aria Amazon's cruise (March 20-24, 2017) was a 4-day itinerary from Iquitos Peru . The "women-only cruising" experience featured extensive wildlife viewing program, visits to local villages, fishing for piranhas, a visit to the Amazonian Manatee Rescue Center in Iquitos, onboard enrichment (guide presentations, cooking classes), culinary activities ashore (chef-guided visits to local food markets), a 60-min complimentary spa massage.

Like the sisterships Aqua Mekong (2014) and Aqua Nera (2020) , Aria Amazon's design, a small number of passenger accommodations, amenities and all-inclusive deals classified the vessel as "houseboat". Similarly designed is the Chobe River cruise ship Zambezi Queen (Botswana, South Africa).

These houseboats were constructed at Hai Minh Shipyard in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam . Aqua Nera was launched (floated out from drydock) on June 29, 2020. The inauguration ceremony featured a traditional Buddhist blessing and the virtual/online participation of Francesco Galli Zugaro. Loaded onto a heavy-lift ship, the cruise ship Aria Amazon departed Vietnam for a 35-day (10630 mi / 17100 km long) repositioning voyage from Vietnam (Saigon) to Brazil ( Belem ).

Starting September 2020, RV Aria Amazon operates Uniworld -charter cruises in the Peruvian Amazon River (for the first time for the company) with 3 itineraries. The program starts with 15-day "Peruvian Amazon and Machu Picchu Exploration" (inclusive of 5-star hotel overnight in Lima Peru ), follows .7-day cruising through the Amazon Rainforest (with visits to Cusco and Machu Picchu ) and ends with 11-day "Peruvian Rivers and Rainforest Discovery" (roundtrip from Iquitos and includes cruising through Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve / Amazonian jungle in northeastern Peru). Bookings were opened on December 16, 2019, with prices from USD 12,000 pp (double-occupancy houseboat cabin rates).
