Spectacular horse trekking in some of the most beautiful parts of Golden Bay - between Farewell Spit and Wharariki beach.  An ever-changing terrain from roads to flat, grassy paddocks, hill climbs, and sandstone tracks to big open beaches. All with amazing views.

Pamela & James reckon they live in the most beautiful place in New Zealand. The main focus is on having a great time and giving people a chance to live their dreams, something we Kiwis don't realise…that we are so lucky to live here.

"We won't just  take you for a ride"

Old Man Range & Triangle Valley

The combination of these 2 treks is simply stunning.

There are views in all directions and the terrain is always changing. It’s up, down, over and around this is one of our favourite treks.

If you want scenery that will leave you speechless. This is just the best trek in New Zealand. And there are no worries about the low tide as this trek is all overland and can be ridden at any time of the day.

Departs flexible | Duration 3 hours

Wharariki Beach Trek

This is a great beach to ride—with its white sand and West Coast surf, it has it all. Ride through the caves and watch the seals and their babies play in the rock pools that are left after the tide has receded.

For the more adventurous, a canter down the beach is thrilling—the sound of your horse's hooves as they hit the sand, and the sea breeze in your face is an awesome feeling!

A fabulous trek, it takes you climbing above the beach and crossing over the lush green hills of the Puponga Farm Park. It offers great views from the beach from many different angles and of the Kahurangi National Park.

Price: $100 to $250

Travel to Puponga, 26 kms north of Collingwood, (towards Farewell Spit) then a further 2 km towards Wharariki Beach.

CHILD POLICY Family Friendly. Suitable for children over 10

Had an absolutely amazing afternoon. Great hosts, good horses, awesome views and just a good around experience. The local iSite mucked up the booking, but the hosts were great and coped wonderfully. It was a real 1.5 hours of actual riding, which was great. I had expected the 1.5 hours to include some prep time, so again happy customer again... Well done all around.

I have ridden out several times with this Trekking company in Golden Bay and on every occasion have had a great time. The guides are experienced - not just teenagers who want to go for a blast - and genuinely love the riding and the scenery, he Old Man Range is my favourite trek, probably the most scenic trek you could do in New Zealand and excellent value at $110 for 2 1/2 - 3 hrs in he saddle.

Farewell Spit Tours

Cape Farewell

Cape Farewell is the northern-most point of the South Island, sitting roughly in line with Foxton in the North Island. It's a wild, windy place with dramatically sculpted quartz sandstone cliffs dropping vertically to the sea. And it is the erosion of these, and other cliffs along the west coast, that create the sand which is carried north to form the spit. Peep over the edge and you may see lazy New Zealand Fur Seals soaking up the sun on a rocky ledge far below, or slipping through the waves that hammer this coast. The cape was named by Captain James Cook as he caught a last glimpse of the South Island before continuing his voyage to Australia. It is also a stop on the cliff top walk that starts to the south near Wharariki Beach and travels north to the base of Farewell Spit.
