Ways to From Thailand to Vietnam

If you are embarking on a Thailand and Vietnam tour from the US, the most popular entry point is Bangkok in Thailand. The Thai capital is a major international hub and the perfect place to kick off your holiday.

The most straightforward and quickest way to travel between Thailand and Vietnam is by air, with several airlines, including Thai Airways, Vietnam Airlines, and Bangkok Airways, offering direct flight service between Bangkok and major Vietnamese cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Flight times range from 1 to 2 hours.

For a more scenic route, you can travel overland by bus or private transport modes via Cambodia, although the journey period can be significantly longer at 12+ hours between Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.

Another option is to take a cruise along the rivers and coastal routes connecting the two countries. Popular itineraries include sailing along the Mekong River from Vietnam into Thailand or joining an island-hopping cruise between Thailand and Vietnam.

Best Time to Visit Thailand and Vietnam

The ideal time for a combined Vietnam and Thailand tour is from October to March when both countries enjoy their best weather conditions. However, there are some regional weather variations in Vietnam during these months that are worth considering.

Northern Vietnam, which includes Hanoi and Sapa, sees excellent weather during the autumn months of October to December. The spring months of February and March are also good periods to visit Northern and Central Vietnam. If you wish to visit Southern Vietnam and coastal cities like Ho Chi Minh City, plan your trip during the dry season from December to March.

In Thailand, the dry season from October to March is considered the best time for a visit.

Day 8: Damnoen Saduak floating market (B)

• 09:00 am Depart Bangkok and journey southwest for about an hour to see the salt farm.
• First stop at Samut sakhon salt farm
• Visit the Maeklong railway market, otherwise known as “Rom Hub” or the “Life-risking” market.
• Continue your journey to coconut sugar farm, watching a demonstration of process to make coconut sugar from coconut sap by coconut farm owner.
• Discover Damnoen Saduak floating market , one of the most famous floating market, and it is made up a network of narrow canals dotted with vendors paddling their boats filled with their wares, from local products to souvenir items.
• Experience riding the Thai style rowing boat on the canal . Shopping and lunch in a local restaurant at your own expense.
• Then transfer back to Bangkok around 3.30 pm.

Day 9: Bangkok - Fly to Hanoi (B)

• Today, we say goodbye Thailand. Our driver takes you to airport for  flight from Bangkok to Hanoi. 
• On arrival Hanoi, you will be welcomed by our driver who will transfer you to hotel in Old Quarter to check in
• Rest of the day is your leisure

• Morning, 8.30 pick up at your hotel, start the tour to Tran  Quoc  Pagoda located on the shores of West Lake
• Visit to Ho Chi Minh complex , including Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, House – on- till and One Pillar Pagoda – a group of structures consisting of a pagoda and a tower built in the middle of a square lake.
• Explore the Temple of Literature – the first college of Vietnam and the place dedicating to Confucian.
• Lunch served at a local restaurant for authentic Hanoi cuisine.
• Afternoon, we will visit Hoa Lo Prison which once known as “Hanoi Hilton”).

Day 11: Hanoi - Ninh Binh (Hoa Lu- Tam Coc - Mua Caves) (B/L)

• 07h30 am: Get picked up by our friendly guide then depart for Ninh Binh province.
• Visit HoaLư ancient capital of Vietnam between 968 and 1010.  
• Go cycling around the village for sightseeing
• Have a buffet lunch in the restaurant
•   Visit Tam Coc by 1.5-hour bamboo boat. You will be surprised by the charming beauty here with paddy fields, river, water, cloud, sky, and  a stunning cave system during the boat trip. All make a masterpiece that the Vietnamese people called “Ha Long Bay on land”
• Get back to Limousine Bus then leave for Mua Cave (Dancing Cave). Walk up almost 500 steps, you can reach the top of Lying Dragon Mountain & have an amazing panoramic view of Tam Coc from here
• Back to Hanoi

Day 12: Hanoi - Halong Bay - overnight Cruise (B/L/D)

• In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Halong Bay .
• Embark cruise, having lunch on board
• Explore Sung Sot Cave , where you can explore its beauty.
• Swimming at Titop Island or conquer the Peak with panorama views.
• A sunset party on the sundeck would be served, where you can enjoy some refreshing drinks and tasty bites while taking in the breathtaking view.

Day 13: Halong Bay - Hanoi (B/L)

• Greeting the dawn of the sea on the sundeck, exercise Tai Chi in the fresh air of Halong Bay.

I don't think booking a 12-day cross-country tour is quite convenient. The full information shown by the website is quite specific and transparent. Then I submit my request. Happy group tour

Although it is a joint tour, my trip is mostly for couples and families over 30 years old. from the USA, Australia, and New Zealand, so we can easily share everything. During the trip, we are always happy and comfortable. Each city will have a different local guide, which helps keep the information provided rich and exciting. The cost of the tour also is reasonable. It is value for money. We spend some more on extra drinks and gifts.

Your incredible adventure begins in Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, where you’ll be swept up in the melee of busy streets, fragrant with spices, riddled with scooters, and overlooked by a mix of architecture from occupations past. The Mövenpick Hotel will prove a soothing sanctuary to return to after you’ve spent a day with a private guide getting to know the city at your own pace and tailored to your interests.

Ho Chi Minh City

You’ll be collected from Hanoi for the four-hour drive to Halong Bay to board the elegant Au Co ship, where you’ll spend a night onboard. You’ll disembark to cycle to a village on Cat Ba Island and have the chance to swim in the lagoon around Viet Hai pier. Come morning, join guests on the deck for t'ai chi and a spot of kayaking before heading to Hanoi airport for your onward flight to Hoi An.
