BTS' Suga Announced His First Solo World Tour

The rapper and singer will hold 11 shows in the U.S.

BTS is set to start their mandatory military service soon, but they’re giving their fans a proper send off before then. In addition to the individual solo projects, albums, and collaborations they’ve all released, Suga will become the first member to embark on his own solo world tour.

The group’s charismatic rapper, songwriter, and producer announced his first-ever global tour on Tuesday, which will take him to cities across the U.S., Southeast Asia, South Korea, and Japan. On his own, the member will play arena stages — and likely sell them out, too. The tour, called Agust D, named after his 2016 solo mixtape and his other stage name, kicks off in late April and will likely wrap up three months later in July with a few dates yet to be announced in Japan.

In the U.S., Suga is scheduled to play huge venues like New Jersey’s Prudential Center and Los Angeles’ Kia Forum — two arenas with a seat capacity of over 17,000. Per the tour schedule, he’s set to play multiple nights in some cities, which will hopefully ease some of the overwhelming fan demand (and ticketing nightmares).

Last we checked, Suga was meant to kick off his military duties in March 2023, but given the scheduling of the tour, that seems to have changed. It is likely he’ll instead enlist following the tour. NME reported that the boyband member will also not enter active duty as previously thought, and will instead fulfill his military requirements as a social service agent.

In addition to his 2016 mixtape Agust D , Suga also released D-2 , his second solo mixtape, in 2020. This tour will finally give him the opportunity to perform both of those projects live. For everything you need to know about attending Suga’s tour from the full tour schedule to how to buy tickets, read on.

While all seven members of BTS are exploring solo projects right now (and completing their mandatory military service ), Suga has been ahead of the curve for a few years now. Back in 2016, he released a debut self-titled mixtape as Agust D, then followed that project up in 2020 with another mixtape, D-2 . Suga’s also done a bunch of production work for other artists recently, including Psy , the Japanese singer Ømi, and his BTS bandmate Jung Kook.

In 2013, BTS (aka the Bangtan Boys) stepped onto the K-pop scene thanks to record label Big Hit Entertainment. Members Kim Namjoon (RM), Kim Seokjin (Jin), Min Yoongi (Suga), Jung Hoseok (J-Hope), Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung (V), and Jeon Jungkook.

All seven members hail from layered backgrounds like hip-hop and professional dance, proving their expertise in the entertainment industry. Originally a hip-hop group, BTS quickly became a force in South Korea – and around the world – thanks to the constant growth of its music, lyrics, and on-stage charisma.

BTS released its first single, “No More Dream,” from its debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool in 2013. The album’s hip-hop elements set the tone for BTS’s early career. The group showed off its talent with various multi-language album releases in Korean and Japanese. Dark & Wild, Wake Up, and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 1 & 2 offered glimpses into BTS’s potential in K-pop.

In 2016, BTS’s second Korean LP Wings sold one million copies in South Korea, solidifying its spot as a rising group in music. Singles like “Blood Sweat & Tears” helped the album skyrocket. An official part two release of Wings titled You Never Walk Alone continued where the previous album’s left in 2017. A resounding message of hope remained a recurring theme throughout the lineup of must-have records.

As BTS’s success continued to grow, so did its worldwide status. The septet’s 2017 singles “DNA” and “Mic Drop” kick-started its rise on the U.S. charts. It was no surprise the initial EP release Love Yourself: Her was also highly successful.

By a new all-time high in South Korea and number seven in the U.S., the nine-track album secured another win for one of K-pop’s best. Love Yourself: Her experimented with a variety of genres, including electro-pop and hip-hop. Not only did BTS stick to its roots, but it also delivered a sneak peek into its creative versatility.

Following a string of U.S. TV appearances, BTS set out to take the world by storm. Like the band’s previous albums, Love Yourself: Her was the beginning of a unique three-album series. First, BTS released the Japanese-language LP Face Yourself. Later, the follow-up Love Yourself: Tear marked the band’s first U.S. number one hit.

A collaboration with Nicki Minaj on the single “Idol” helped the next LP, Love Yourself: Answer, gain more traction. Not only did BTS sell over one million copies of the third installment of the Love Yourself series in South Korea, the album also topped charts in the U.S.

BTS’s status as a worldwide pop phenom took a significant turn with its Map of the Soul: Persona era. Additional collabs with famous American artists like Halsey on “Boy with Luv” helped the group obtain a third number one LP in the U.S. Soon enough, BTS became one of the most in-demand musicians in the pop industry. It continued to break records with Map of the Soul: 7 and Map of the Soul: 7 — The Journey in 2020.

More recent singles like “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance” were radio hits. BTS’s signature high-energy sound and lyrics captivated fans and casual listeners alike. In the meantime, concert documentary films, mobile games, award show performances, and collaborations featuring artists like Snoop Dogg, Coldplay, Zara Larrson, and Charli XCX allowed BTS to break down barriers as a South Korean artist.

Along with incredible album sales, BTS embarked on sold-out world tours. With choreographed dance sequences and flashy stage setups, the boy band put on quite the show for its loyal fanbase.

Individual style sets BTS apart from the typical boy band. Perhaps that’s why the septet’s status as a music phenom is an undeniable feat.

Along with incredible album sales, BTS embarked on several sold-out world tours throughout its career. With choreographed dance sequences and flashy stage setups, the band put on quite the show for its loyal fanbase. The same went for TV appearances on late-night talk shows, award ceremonies, and more.

Despite BTS’s recent hiatus announcement, its popularity continues to grow, especially with a long list of music awards under its belt. Some of them include nine AMAs, 10 MTV VMAs, and 12 BMAs. Not to mention two well-deserved Grammy nominations from the Recording Academy.

Live reviews

Going into this, I didn’t know what to expect. I have known bts for a very long time and all army’s know that you should expect the unexpected from bts because they’re all amazing!!! I was extremely excited when I had gotten the tickets, but I had no clue what I was in for till I arrived in Hamilton and stood in front of the First Ontario Centre! Once I stood there everything became so real and couldn’t believe that I would get to see bts in just moments. My sisters and I went to see the merchandise. There were many army’s dancing and singing to all of bts’s amazing songs, it made me smile. Sadly we didn’t get any merchandise, but we took some amazing pictures and the true prize was being able to spend the whole evening with bts. Once we entered the stadium and found our seats, my heart stopped! There were lights everywhere and their old music videos were playing on the big screen. Many army’s were singing along to the songs while we waited for the moment of truth! Finally it was 5 minutes till the beginning of the concert and my heart was racing!!! This was finally it. I was going to see bts for real!! And then it happened! Bts appeared from the stage and I began to cry. I myself am still confused as to why I was crying. Maybe it was because of shock, maybe because I was seeing my idols for the first time, but I like to think it was because these are the most amazing people on earth, they show their love to thousands and work tirelessly every single day and it’s all so they can spread their message. Their message of hope, love, ending violence, trashing stereotypes, and loving yourself. I think we need more people like bts in this world. Despite me crying through the opening song I managed to sing along to all of their songs and screamed till my heart was content. The visual effects and lighting were out of this world. The whole time I thought I was dreaming, but it was all true. Time seemed to fly by the fastest when they were on stage, but I enjoyed every moment of it! This concert was definitely the most breath taking and inspiring concert I have ever seen (it’s also my very first concert!). The music was so loud and everyone single person was enjoying it. I felt nothing but pure joy. My day before the concert was a difficult one and I am a student who has to work hard in school, so I had many worries before the concert. But as soon as the first song started and they appeared, every problem seemed to disappear. I felt extremely enlightened and happy that I had the opportunity to see these one of a kind people. If someone asked me if I would go to another bts concert, my answer would be an immediate yes!! Bts are very inspiring people and I can’t even begin to imagine what they went through to get where they are today, but I’ll take the time to thank bts now for becoming the amazing boys we all know and love. I know that they will make even bigger accomplishments in the future. Soon enough everyone will know bts as those boys who changed their lives. I hope millions of people can give them a chance and see what they have to offer because I cannot imagine going through life without knowing who bts is. If I could request bts of anything it would be for them to stay happy. I won’t even try to imagine how hard it must be for them at times and I don’t think many people understand what you all go through from day to day. But if my message can lighten your worries even a bit, I would be satisfied! I want you all to stay happy and enjoy all the moments that come your way. Whether it’s good or bad. BTS, army’s love you always!!!! We purple you always!! And will always stand by your side!!!

Hello to whoever is reading this! If you are planning or debating to go to a concert, or simply just here to read the review on their concert, the experience was absolutely amazing! Meeting armys, to waiting in line, to actually seeing BTS perform their songs LIVE, every single thing about it was ecstatic.

I have read a lot that ARMY’S are all very sweet and it is indeed true. While I was waiting in line for merch, there was a particular moment that I will not forget for a while. I already had a reserved seat and I was waiting at 4 am (on the concert day) in the GA Line. GA (General Admission), the pit, where people stand in front of the stage. It was useless for me to wait in the line because I had a reserved seat. These ladies behind me asked me if this was the GA line and I told them I was unsure. They went to the front of the line and asked and apparently, it was indeed the GA line. I had no absolute idea, and they were kind enough to actually go all the way to the back to let me know I wasn’t waiting in the correct line.

I also met more ARMY’s in the merch line! They told me all about their experiences and their bias and many more. ARMY’s are all really sweet and they are amazing people who share the same passion as you! I also met some people from behind my mom and I. My mom befriended them first, then she introduced them to me! We then went back to the GA line to look for people giving out free things. The girl behind me also had to use the restroom, so we all walked across the street to a paint store and while I was in the restroom, turns out someone almost spilt blue paint on her homeade jacket!!! The experience with ARMY was absolutely amazing and I will never forget how kind and welcoming they were.

I was lucky enough to be chosen as a soundcheck winner as well, so I was able to see BTS perform without any makeup on and with their normal clothes. While waiting, I also met ANOTHER fellow ARMY, of course haha. She was so kind to me and while we were waiting in the arena for BTS to come out, she actually gave me Shooky sign that she had purchased from the LINE store, unfortunately, I left it behind on accident after the concert.. She was also so kind to me and was extremely nervous to finally see BTS. When BTS came out, I was on the verge of crying. Before, I wasn’t that nervous and I was ready to see them. It was so amazing to see them in person when you’ve seen them on a tiny screen on your phone. They are real. Seeing them so up close and in person was a different feeling. They look the same in person as they do in videos and pictures, except they are way more beautiful. They’re features are really sharp and they really glisten. The feeling is unexplainable and it is very hard to understand until you actual experience it yourself. They performed 3 songs: I Need U, DNA, and Anpanman. This lasted for about 15-20 minutes.

The concert itself was so hype. They all sound amazing live. However, you can hear how tired they were, from all the difficult choreographies and traveling so much. It was evident they hasn’t had enough sleep. They had one day to rest because after their FOUR day concert (straight) they flew to Oakland already. It is a differnet feeling when you hear the song in such a way. You are just absolutely jamming out and having the best time of your life. If you could go to one concert, I would reccomend a BTS concert.

I think that if i have to describe it in just one word i will say: PERFECT.

It was the best experience of my live, also it was my firt concert ever.

Everithing went perfect, im from Barcelona, Spain, so i had to take a two hours flight to go to Paris, i woke up at 3 am because the flight departure was at 6:30 am, I arrived there (the hotel) at 11 am on the 18, after that, i went to eat breakfast/lunch and while i was eating i went to look around the concert area. When i went there i saw a lot of people camping out to be one of the firt so i decided to do the same. My friend and i went to get water, food and a jacket to go with the others to camp out there. We stayed from 1 pm to 10 pm camping until they gave us a number so that people could leave the place to rest a bit, we decided to do so because we couldn't sleep the previous day because the flight that we had and also it was only 6 degrees and we were only wearing a short t-shirt and a jacket.

We woke up at 4 am to go to our place, after waiting four hours more we went to get merchandising so we had to wait 3 hours until we got the army bomb ver. 3. After that we waited until 5 pm when they let us enter the concert hall, in there we waited 3 hours more until the happiest moment in my live where the 7 most handsome mens appeared surroundered by the screams of the fans, the lights, and the fireworks. Their voices are incredible in real life, they are a hundred more times handsome in real life than in pictures and videos, they were respectful and thankful with all their fans and even tried to talk in french, Jungkook danced for the fans even if he was injured, Taehyung was sick and his voice wasn't at full, but i couldn't realise it until he said so. Seokjin was a bit sick, but he didn't show any sight of so. The others were fantastic too, the blue-haired Jimin, the president Namjoon, the handsome Hoseok (in my opinion he is the one that changes the most from pictures to reality, he is really, really hot, and he is so energetic and happy), and Yoongi, who killed my with his voice, his dance, his appearance, his rap, in one word: seesaw.

Also my bias was Taehyung and i can say that getting to see him was extremely awesome, he is so perfect, he is indeed the most handsome man of the world, and even if he was sad because he couldn't give his best, his performance was absolutely perfect, i couldn't be able to ask for more.

All in all, the best experience in my live, i hope maybe next year they come to Spain so that the people that couldn't go can see them.

The BTS concert was the most shocking experience that I ever had.

Queuing all day was not a problem, I met a lot of ARMYS from all over the world with the same motivation to see our boys. We were all day singing, sharing experiences and exploring the venue. Nevertheless, the O2 regulations were very specific about camping and how prohibited was it and even so they honoured the queue started by campers sooner than expected by the rules. That fact was heartbreaking because a lot of armys synchronized their flights to get there in time as well as others had to spend money on a hotel (me included) to stay during the night to respect the regulations.

Once inside was kind of a war, mostly if you are standing. People pushed from every corner of the space (which is comprehensible) to get a better view and that conditioned the experience a lot. In my case I was on the right side of the stage (relatively close) but I was so stucked into the crowd that I couldn't even refer to my friends who were behind me. Anyways this was not anyone fault, I'm just relating my experience without blaming.

As soon as the boys were on stage I got paralyzed. I just couldn't believe that something that I'd been following for so much time through media was suddenly in front of me (and looking damn good). Song after song the only phrase on my mind was: this cannot be real.

Going to a BTS concert is like the last level and thing that an army can do/achieve to feel closer to her/his idols. I just wish that there could be a way to express my love to them that didn't involve money. Dreaming is free right?

In conclusion, we had no problems with the tickets, in the venue the staff treated us very kindly (they offered us water during the show) and it was totally worth it, money cannot tell how valuable was the experience. I've just wished that that same morning the O2 had communicated about the queue news because I found out thanks to anonymous Twitter users.

BTS said that they would definitely comeback to the UK which makes me very happy. This announcement motivated me to be a better person for the next time I see them because as I said, I really felt like I didn't deserve it, I didn't deserve so much love and dedication from this wonderful people. They've helped me and other people in such a way, that I just want all the love, best and heaven for them.

It was surreal. I've never thought i would ever get to see BTS in real life nor to join one of their concerts. They came to Amsterdam, ziggodome. I was in line for GA since 8 am, it was a chill line untill we all had to move around 3 pm. People started cutting in line, pushing etc. We had to stand real close in the sun for another two hours. It went rather unfair, people who arrived at 11 or 12 am were standing in front of me in the concert. And we still had to wait another three hours untill the show actually began. I didn't move a muscle once I was in the concert venue and yet I managed to get further back once it was almost time for the show and my friends were even further behind me. But it was worth all the hassle. I didn't get to look at the boys well even though I was decently close to the side of the stage (probably 5 or 6 rows before me) and that was puerly because people in front of us decided it was needed to film the whole concert so we were looking at beautiful phones almost the whole 3 hours.

Even though it felt like I was never there and it never happened. Even though it went unfair and my view was mostly blocked because of others. It was still worth it. Maybe not worth the price we had to pay for the tickets. Next time maybe make sections in GA as well. It seems unfair for people who pay equal amount and ended up in the back.

The music was amazing, the boys and their speeches were adorable.

I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE TO LOOK. All the time. The screen? No I want to look at them in flesh, but the boys are spreaded all over the stage nor I couldn't see because of the phones blocking my view. It was hard to decide and I think this is also why it feels like I missed out on so much.

Next year I'll go for VIP or seating. The stress and lining up hours before, pushing etc in GA was just not it for me and for only 50 euros more you'd have a guaranteed good spot AND soundcheck. It just seems a bit unfair.

But the concert itself was amazing and I would go through all of that all over again. I made friends and had a great moment I'll think about the rest of my life.

Honestly the concert was great and BTS is way hotter in person it was hard to believe they were real. The problem I had was how TGM made us wait outside in the cold, rainy weather. I happened to be standing outside 5 hours and I was seated in the last row. I have read other reviews saying things like the security guards pushed them. Thankfully that didn't happen to us but we were still screamed at and we didn't get to hold their hands we just walked down the line and slightly high five them. Another thing I had a problem which is that the local artist played more songs than BTS themselves. The local artist played 5 and BTS played 4 or 5. Even if both BTS and the local artist both played 5 songs the local artist shouldn't have the same amount of songs as BTS because that's why most people were there. To see BTS. I happen to be black so standing in the rain for 5 hours made my hair get really big and I happened to look like i had a bad hair day. It also messed up my makeup. If you want to know what I looked like just imagine Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz gone goth. I happened to be wearing a black t-shirt and a choker and my hair was down but from standing in the rain my hair got really big and puffy so I tried restyling it. The only way that it didn't look too bad was when I put my hair in braids BAM goth dorthy. I honestly don't think I will ever go to another TGM event unless I make sure to buy VIP. VIP's were lucky enough to enter before us, see BTS before us, and stay to take a group with BTS after we left. Another thing that was a problem was that my friend who was supposed to meet me inside the venue wasn't allowed in as they said there were no more seats. There were plenty of seats left for her, her mom, and her sister. The only problem is that they wouldn't be together. There were many spots were 2 seats were open but they still weren't let in. The good thing is that they got a full refund, a hitouch, and a group photo since they weren't able to see the concert.

A memorable night at the O2 as BTS kicked off their first European tour in London. The boys pulled off a very enjoyable and impressive night, even with Jungkook not being in best condition and with the late start to the concert (which I assume was done because plans changed since rehearsals).

Before the show fans qued up outside just to take photos with the giant billboard showcasing the tour poster.

I was with my dad who had no clue what to expect really, so this was maybe not such a good start.

I was not trying to scare him off, believe me.

Unfortunately, all merchandise except light sticks had been sold out by the time we entered the arena, although, I wasn’t really suprised considering the circumstances. I regret not buying a lightstick in the end because in a BTS concert WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO WITH YOUR HANDS?! I do not have a phone to hold. When I tried clapping or dancing the girl next to me started to slowly back away. At one point, I swear to god she was so far away that she was in the isle (fire hazard, or what?).

The show started with a few of their new songs (like IDOL and I’m fine). Everybody cheered when they introduced themselves and I will admit that I lost my voice within 10 minutes of the concert.

In between segments short videos would play or the members would talk to the audience. They were very sweet overall and it made me happy to see them still able to express themselves so well in such a new environment where they cannot speak the language with a lot of confidence.

I had to leave during the truth untold because I had to catch a train but what I did see has made me even more eager to come back and watch a full concert with my best friend who could not come this time.

As for my unwilling a dad, he said that he was suprised that he liked it and that it was one of the best performances he has been to. For next time though, he said introductions could be shorter.

I can not wait until next time!!! ♥️

I have to add more so

We're now going to progress to some steps which are a bit more difficult

궁금해 아직도 왜 다시 불렀는지도

매일 ask me, guess it, 채찍, repeat, oh

변할 건 없다며 결국 또

걱정을 억지로 잠궈, close

How much love? How much joy?

위안을 주며 stay calm, alone

그래 I don't care, 전부 내

운명의 선택, so we're here

내 앞을 봐, the way is shinin'

Keep goin' now

I was so happy I was going to a BTS concert but unfortunately I got up late because I wanted to be the first one there (new that would happen) but I got dressed and did my hair but a mixed girl to do my hair needs about 30 minutes to get ready and after that i went there and so many people were in line

( new that would happen too) when I had got in line a girl stepped on another girls foot and told me to leave I could not believe my eyes what army would hurt another army (like we are on your team) but me being the angel I am (not really) i went up and told the girl to stop and she got mad at me (bad choice) she was yelling at me so I tried to walk off and she grabbed my hair by this point I was mad and I slapped her she let go and started to cry a guy who was buff came up and then said that i would have to leave but the girl who got her foot stepped on stood up for me her name was akana and she and i did not end up leaving but akana and me talked and we were friends once we reached the beginning of the line it was my turn and akana was waiting inside so they said that My ticket was invalid honestly I could not believe it after all this I looked like crap but just at that moment I found a vip pass on the ground I picked it up even though I did not pay for it I felt bad but finally after a while I was seated and when the concert started I screamed at the top of my lungs when it ended I found akana we got to stay after the concert and took pictures with BTS

(what pure luck) I wanted to die but today still me and akana are still huge fans of BTS and best friends now even if i know that akana is dying from cancer she will fight through and make sure to see another BTS concert with me and to become a KPOP singer she will pull through support her pray for her please.

Ummm the concert was good I ended up getting bronchitis from the cold and due to the fact my asthma kicked in but it was hilarious because when I called my little sister she thought I was a man I never laughed so hard in my life and I don’t like to smile or laugh so I was kinda glad I got sick but then it hurt to even talk or drink water so that was bad but the concert was wild. I ended making a friend and she is older than me...(I always end up being the youngest but I look older than what I am) and she gave me a talk about how high school is going to be like. The only reason why I was able to go was because of my cousin and I am happy she was able to take me. I studied too much the day before no not even EVERYDAY before the concert because trying to go to high school...so I was numb with knowledge and forgot what excitement was but when we walked into the stadium I had anxiety but I ended up getting pass it after I realized that I sang before on a stage and people actually like it and it was a huge stage so I felt better and then blah blah blah lost my voice blah blah blah almost fell...lies I did fall like multiple times but that was because I am the biggest klutz blah blah blah nervous but SOOOO HAPPY blah blah blah screamed out high notes (that was were I made my mistake) blah blah blah then was being a goofball on my way out of the stadium with my cousin when we went to the car and met up with my uncle...so basically I enjoyed it and wow did I write a lot...probably should shorten this but I have bracelets to make and sell and they aren’t going to do it themselves so GREAT JOB BTS and to the amazing staff and yeah EVERYBODY THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE YOU GUYS AND GALS ARE AMAZING AND YOU GUYS AND GALS SHOULD KNOW THAT!

Suga of BTS’s World Tour Is Pop Subversion at Its Finest

In the U.S., the first member of the group to stage solo concerts delivered a thrilling declaration of artistic individuality.

Suga sings in a dark arena, with five spotlights on him.

Four hooded figures seemed to float down the stage, through the soft exhalations of a fog machine. On their shoulders, they carried a body clothed in black. Rain and lightning flashed a clean white on the screen behind them. When the man was finally laid on the ground, what followed looked like a resurrection: The spotlights found him, screams rose, and at last he stirred. Then he raised a microphone to his mouth.

This rock-star Lazarus was Min Yoongi, better known as the rapper and songwriter Suga of the Grammy-nominated, chart-topping South Korean group BTS. But none of his bandmates were onstage that night at UBS Arena, on Long Island, New York, because it was the first date of his solo world tour. Since last summer, the members have been focusing on individual projects as each prepares to complete his mandatory military service. The first in BTS to do a solo tour, Suga was also performing as Agust D, the name he adopted in 2016 for making music that was darker, more raw, and more personal than his group work. Last month, he released his studio album D-Day , the powerful conclusion to his trilogy of Agust D records, which delivered social critique and meditations on trauma, fame, mental illness, alienation, and forgiveness.

Suga’s ongoing tour, also titled D-Day, is the first real showcase of his oeuvre, and, on the sold-out U.S. leg of his tour, it felt like a declaration of artistic individuality more than a decade in the making. His concerts exploded with frontman energy and auteurist flourishes. But his most striking achievement was embracing pop music’s empathy-fueling potential while resisting its dehumanizing effects.

All 11 of his U.S. tour dates, which wrapped Wednesday night in Oakland, California, began with a short film that ended with Suga lying on a road in a thunderstorm. This was a reference to when he was hit by a car while working in Seoul part-time as a delivery boy to support himself while training to debut with BTS. The crash left him with a painful shoulder injury that continued to dog him even as BTS went on to achieve international fame. The segue from the video to the real-life Suga being carried onstage, seemingly lifeless, was smooth yet jarring—a reminder of the human vulnerability of a pop star whose fans camp outside concert venues for days.

When I saw Suga on that first night, at UBS Arena, as well as the final U.S. night, at Oakland Arena, his show challenged expectations of what a pop concert can do. On one level it was a dynamic hip-hop show, put on by a technically proficient rapper who as a kid would sample the Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto’s music to make his own beats. Suga set the tone for the evening with “Haegeum,” whose title refers both to a Korean string instrument and to the notion of lifting a ban on something that was forbidden. “Endless influx of information prohibits freedom of imagination / And seeks conformity of thought,” Suga rapped in Korean. “Slaves to capitalism, slaves to money, slaves to hatred and prejudice / Slaves to YouTube, slaves to flexin’.” The haegeum ’s haunting strings and a deliciously grimy bass vibrated the air. Though the track was written entirely in Korean, the crowd roared the lyrics back to him. He practically entered a hypnotic state while running through a rap-heavy opening sequence with the defiant “Daechwita” and the earlier fan favorites “Agust D” and “Give It to Me.”

Read: The friends who listen to BTS together stay together

Before the audience could get too settled, Suga brought out his acoustic guitar, its body decorated with messages and drawings from the other six BTS members. He’d only learned to play the instrument during the pandemic , so his unplugged version of “Seesaw” cut a sharp contrast to previous performances of the song, which featured choreography, backup dancers, and an elaborate set. His effortless swagger during the earlier hype songs gave way to the quieter spectacle of Suga in singer-songwriter mode. Later, he sat down at an upright piano and performed his own version of the 2020 BTS track “Life Goes On” and, in a particularly emotional moment, a solo rendition of the song “Snooze,” which features the singer Woosung and the late Sakamoto. A clip of Suga and Sakamoto’s sole meeting, from late 2022, played beforehand on the big screen—the older musician playing the song on a grand piano while the younger man tries to contain his joy. Sakamoto’s presence on “Snooze,” one of his final collaborations, was especially poignant to Suga, who idolized him and wrote the song to comfort younger struggling artists.

Read: The astonishing duality of BTS

Again and again, D-Day allowed Suga to experiment in ways that he hadn’t been able to with BTS, and it was thrilling to see. Yes, he was still clearly a seasoned entertainer, who knew how to command the attention of tens of thousands of people , who could jump around a stage rapping without appearing to take a breath, as during the exhilarating medley of BTS rap songs in the middle of the concert. And at two Los Angeles shows, he welcomed guest appearances by the American singers Max and Halsey for their respective collaborations. But his subversive choices stood out too. The concert was interspersed with short films that evoked the dream logic of David Lynch and the grainy aesthetic of grind-house movies, telling the story of the musician’s three identities: the pop idol Suga, the shadow self Agust D, and the human Min Yoongi. The ultimate artistic aim of the concert seemed to be to clarify each of these distinct selves to the audience while recognizing that they must all exist together. Seeing him perform his solo BTS songs, including “Interlude: Shadow,” as well as his verses from tracks with the other BTS rappers , affirmed that he wasn’t looking to reject his past but instead was proud of it. After all, it had taken him to South Korea’s Blue House , America’s White House , the United Nations General Assembly, and the Grammys stage.

In another fascinating production choice, throughout the show, pieces of the extended stage were pulled to the ceiling by chains, giving Suga less and less space to perform, requiring him to navigate the platform more carefully. For his last pre-encore song, “Amygdala,” he stood on a lonely-looking square as fire blazed all around him, a terrifying prison. The centerpiece of the D-Day album, the emo-rap track serves as an origin story for the alter ego of Agust D, referencing his life’s defining traumas—the car accident, his mother’s heart surgery, and his father’s liver-cancer diagnosis—and how they shaped him. During the song’s final lines, apparently depleted, he collapsed on the ground, and the hooded figures returned to carry him away. Only this time, he wore all white, as though he’d been cleansed, his catharsis complete.

By the encore, all of the stage pieces had been removed, revealing the technical equipment that had been hiding beneath it. Scattered about were fire extinguishers, electrical cords, pyrotechnic devices. No longer elevated above the crowd, Suga performed his last few songs at ground level, right in front of fans, sometimes grabbing their phones and filming himself. These last moments were bittersweet: Much of the audience knew that after the tour ended in Seoul in late June, Suga would begin his military service for at least 18 months. That reality made the concerts feel like a temporary farewell. Fans’ glowing lightsticks rippled like a single wave throughout the arena. Every so often, carried by a feral energy, the crowd would start barking, making Suga gawk or laugh. In Oakland, he told the audience that he would return with the rest of the BTS members, asking fans to wait just a little longer.

On the tour’s first night, one more surprise awaited. I had assumed that the final song would be something sentimental or light-hearted. Instead, Suga walked over to an ominous circle of video cameras, stood right in the middle, and began murmuring the opening bars of “The Last.” This song, off his first mixtape, is one of his best and one of my favorites. It’s also a song I have a hard time listening to these days. On “The Last,” Suga raps about his OCD, depression, and social anxiety. His delivery starts out low and subdued and gradually grows more desperate; by the end he sounds like he’s somewhere between screaming and crying. When I first heard it years ago, I recalled my own unceasing panic attacks and the suffocating desire to die. The song lodged itself in my heart, a welcome shard.

Read: I wasn’t a fan of BTS. And then I was.

In recent years, Suga has made more music about growth, about self-love and being okay with uncertainty and suffering. He spoke early during the concert, in English, about wanting to perform with less anger, highlighting songs such as “SDL,” “People,” and “People Pt. 2”; these tracks painted a portrait of someone with a great capacity for measured reflection, forgiveness, and humility in the face of life’s challenges. I understand that too: The relief of no longer hurting so badly, of discovering healing on your own terms. So when I heard the first lines of “The Last” (“On the other side of the famous idol rapper stands my weak self, it’s a bit dangerous”), I froze. What was he doing? Those cameras—arrayed like a surveillance system, transmitting the videos to the screen above him—devoured and projected the anguish he was performing, suggesting that I was devouring it too.

But after a minute, I understood. Though he rapped with the same breathless passion he did as a striving 23-year-old, I realized that he wasn’t performing with pure fury but with an anger tempered by time. This emotion was no less powerful or sincere, but it was less damaging to the person communicating it. These days, he could stand in the flames and feel their heat, but not be consumed by them. He could connect with his younger self without fully becoming that person again.

Then the spell was over. The moment the song ended, the house lights went up so that we could see him walking in silence offstage. No goodbye, no drawn-out thank yous and waves to the cheering audience. Not even a glance backward. On the first night, people exchanged confused looks, shocked by his sudden exit. You could perhaps see this whole finale as a quiet confrontation with an audience, a grand assertion of the self by a beloved artist. But if it was a confrontation, it was one rooted in trust rather than condescension. Trust that the audience can sit with discomfort, that they’re self-aware enough not to be offended or horrified by what he’s showing them.

It was the perfect ending. A concert that began in darkness and mythmaking ended in light and exposure. Suga started the show being carried by others; he ended it by carrying himself out. What more could we want? He had just shown us everything.

METALLICA: 2025 NORTH AMERICAN DATES ANNOUNCED

bts world tour venue for 2023

Metallica has confirmed that its record-breaking M72 World Tour will be extended into a third year, with the announcement of 21 North American shows spanning April, May and June 2025.

Two-night tickets for the newly announced No Repeat Weekends and tickets for the single-night engagements will be on sale September 27 at 10am local time. Fan club pre-sales begin September 23 at 10am local time. For further information, enhanced experiences, travel packages and more, go to  https://metallica.lnk.to/M72WorldTour2025

Since opening April 2023 in Amsterdam, M72 has seen Metallica play to some three million fans. Variously hailed as “an altogether life-affirming experience” (Billboard), “impossible to leave unsatisfied” (Austin Chronicle), “a stone-cold stunner of a show” (Detroit News), “the mother of all summer concerts” (Worcester Telegram Gazette) and “as tight and furious as Metallica has sounded in ages” (Los Angeles Times), M72 continues to amaze fans and critics alike. The tour will conclude its triumphant 2024 run with four nights at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros, where Metallica will play to more than 250,000 fans over the course of two No Repeat Weekends.

The M72 World Tour’s 2025 itinerary will continue the hallowed No Repeat Weekend tradition, with each night of the two-show stands featuring entirely different setlists and support lineups. These will include the band’s first Nashville shows in five years on May 1 and 3 at Nissan Stadium, as well as Metallica’s return to Tampa after 15 years on June 6 and 8 at Raymond James Stadium. M72 has also confirmed its much anticipated Bay Area hometown play, to take place June 20 and 22 with the band’s debut performances at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

In a new twist, M72 2025 will feature several single shows bringing the tour’s full production, with its massive in-the-round stage, to venues including two college football stadiums: JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York on April 19, and Metallica’s first ever visit to Blacksburg, Virginia, home of the Virginia Tech Hokies.  The May 7 show at Lane Stadium will mark the culmination of 20+ years of “Enter Sandman” playing as the Hokies take the field.

In addition to playing football stadiums across the nation, the M72 World Tour’s 2025 itinerary will also include two festival headlines—the first being the opening night of the run April 12 at Sick New World at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. May 9 and 11 will then mark a festival/No Repeat Weekend combo as Metallica plays two headline sets at Sonic Temple at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Support on M72’s 2025 North American run will come from Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies and Ice Nine Kills. See below for specifics.

Additionally, M72 2025 will see Metallica’s long-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand. Stay tuned to https://www.metallica.com/ for further announcements.

M72’s 2025 North American leg is produced by Live Nation and presented by new sponsor inKind. inKind rewards diners with special offers and credit back when they use the app to pay at 2,000+ top-rated restaurants nationwide. The company provides innovative financing to participating restaurants in a way that enables new levels of sustainability and success. Metallica fans can learn more at inkind.com .

Citi is the official card of the M72 tour. Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets beginning Tuesday, September 24 at 10am local time until Thursday, September 26 at 10pm local time through the Citi Entertainment program. For complete presale details, visit www.citientertainment.com .

Verizon will offer an exclusive presale for the M72 tour in the U.S. through Verizon Access, just for being a customer. Verizon Access Presale tickets for select shows will begin Tuesday, September 24 at 10am local time until Thursday, September 26 at 10pm local time. For more details, visit Verizon.com/Access .

* Citi and Verizon presales will not be available for Sick New World, Sonic Temple or the Toronto dates. Verizon presale will not be available for the Nashville, Blacksburg or Landover shows.

As always, a portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to local charities via the band’s All Within My Hands foundation. Established in 2017 as a way to give back to communities that have supported Metallica over the years, All Within My Hands has raised over $15 million – providing $8.2 million in grants to career and technical education programs including the ground-breaking Metallica Scholars Initiative, now in its sixth year, over $3.6 million to combat food insecurity, more than $3.5 million to disaster relief efforts.

With the world shutting down in-person concerts, because of Covid-19, many artists got a little creative with their performances. Since award shows and other music shows continued—albeit, virtually—most performances were filmed at home. And rather than doing what many other artists had (i.e. filming in their living room or single studio room), BTS took it a step further. They used this chance to film special performances in unique places around South Korea. By having different filming locations, BTS broke the mold on what to expect from at-home recordings. Let’s take a look at the top eight places BTS performed!

Places BTS Performed: Stadiums

Jamsil olympic stadium.

The Jamsil Olympic Stadium, also known as the Seoul Olympic Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Seoul , South Korea that was built for the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1986 Asian Games. Today, the stadium itself does not have an individual occupancy, but it is used for a lot of different events—including sports events and concert events.

Originally, it was built to seat around 100,000 people. However, today it seats closer to 70,000 people. Even so, the Jamsil Olympic Stadium is the largest stadium in South Korea, making it one of the most sought-after places in South Korea to perform in.

BTS first performed at this location in 2018 for their Love Yourself World Tour .

love yourself concert in jamsil olympic stadium

But, for the 2020 American Music Awards (AMAs), BTS rented out the stadium to give an unforgettable performance. They performed two songs. “Life Goes On:”

… and “ Dynamite :”

Sangam Stadium

Built for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Sangam Stadium—also known as the Seoul World Cup Stadium—is the second-largest stadium in South Korea. Similarly to the first stadium, it seats just shy of 67,000 people.

places bts performed seoul world cup stadium

It’s home to the Korea Republic national football (soccer) team and their club team FC Seoul. So this stadium is mostly dedicated to football games. However, many large concerts have been held here. Including the yearly Dream Concert event every May/June.

BTS never performed at this stadium until their pre-recorded performance for the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMAs).

For their MAMAs performance, they pre-recorded their song “ON” in the stadium. However, they also had performances for “ Life Goes On ” and “ Dynamite .” These performances did not take place at Sangam Stadium.

Out of the places BTS performed on this list, Sangam Stadium is one of the biggest. This performance was rather enormous in comparison to others—complete with their own marching band and individual dance breaks.

Places BTS Performed: Airport Related Locations

Incheon airport terminal 2.

The Incheon International airport opened its doors in 2001. It is currently the largest airport in all of South Korea. Overall, it is the primary airport for the Seoul area.

places bts performed incheon airport terminal 2

It’s located on an artificially created piece of land between two islands—Yeongjong and Yongyu. Because of the shallow water between the islands, they were able to dump more dirt (land) there and create the artificial piece of land. Pretty interesting if you ask me!

For their performance at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), BTS rented out Terminal 2 at the airport.

Though you can’t see it in the video above, BTS included a special animated airplane in this performance. It looked really cool in the final result! It was an amazing performance the group put on. And since it was such a surprising location, it became one of the most iconic places BTS performed.

Korean Air Airplane

Not only did BTS perform at an airport, but they took it a step further by performing in an airplane . As sort of a homage to the Korean airline, Korean Air, BTS performed in a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

For this performance, on the Late Late Show with James Corden, BTS performed “Life Goes On” and “ Dynamite .” We only see the airplane during the second song, but it’s definitely left a lasting impression. It’s one of the most unique places BTS has performed.

Places BTS Performed: Tourist Attractions

The national museum of korea.

If we want to talk about one of the more iconic places BTS has performed in, then we need to talk about the National Museum of Korea. This museum, built around 1945 and relocated to the Yongsan District in 2005, is the place you want to go to see all things Korean history and art. It is the most visited museum in South Korea.

When Covid-19 hit, the graduating class of 2020 lost a lot of their celebrations for the occasion. Because of this, Barack and Michelle Obama helped put together an online event streamed live on YouTube. This event, Dear Class of 2020 , had a lot of different performers and content creators speaking for those graduating . Further, BTS was one of the performers.

They performed three songs in total. “Boy With Luv,” “Spring Day,” and “Mikrokosmos.”

They also gave a nice speech for those graduating . One of the popular lines that still floats around the fandom came from this speech. During his part, Jimin says, “Remember there is a person here in Korea, in the city of Seoul, who understands you.” This one line has brought unimaginable comfort to ARMY throughout our toughest times. You can watch this speech here:

Firstly, Everland is the largest theme park in South Korea. Annually, Everland gets millions of visitors. Basically, it’s a hotspot for tourists and Koreans alike.

Everland theme park

It first opened in 1976 and has steadily built up since then. Though Everland is such a widely popular attraction, it’s not because of thrilling roller coasters. It’s because of the environment with it. People go to Everland to have fun and enter some kind of “magical” land. Above all, Everland is a fun place to step into.

For their performance on America’s Got Talent 2020, BTS recorded their song “Dynamite” here. The group dressed in their classic “Dynamite” outfits and danced their way around the theme park. It was a lot of fun to see the boys perform in such a location. You can watch this performance here:

Places BTS Performed: Beautiful Seoul Locations

Gyeongbokgung palace.

Built in 1395, the Gyeongbokgung Palace is the main royal palace from the Joseon dynasty. Throughout the years, the palace had been destroyed, rebuilt, and home to various Kings. Now the palace is a cultural spot that many can go to visit. In addition, it’s a beautiful location for filming music performances.

Places bts performed gyeongbokgung palace

Wearing their modern-day hanboks, BTS performed their song “Idol” at the Gyeongbokgung Palace. During their week-long takeover on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, BTS performed a plethora of songs each night. But their performance for “Idol” takes the prize for best cultural location. Their performance is gorgeous to watch and the scenery of this place is really beautiful.

Parc1 Tower

Now, you might be wondering why we’ve included a business building in the list of “beautiful Seoul locations.” I don’t have much of an answer to give you besides how beautiful the city view of Seoul is.

The Parc1 Tower is the second tallest building in Seoul, standing with just under seventy floors. It’s the location of various businesses and purposes.

Parc1 Tower in Seoul, South Korea

BTS surprised everyone when they took to the sky for their 2021 Grammys performance . Almost literally, too. For this performance, BTS started inside. However, as “Dynamite” reaches its bridge, the members are taking to the stairs and heading outside. The performance ends with them on the roof. You can watch this performance here:

Certainly, out of all of these places BTS has performed, their performance at the top of the Parc1 Tower has the prettiest scenery you will ever see.

Places BTS Performed: Honorable Mention

Grand central station.

Lastly, we have their performance at Grand Central Station. Before Covid-19 fully had the world in its grasp, BTS was still in the USA for their Map of the Soul: 7 promotions. They guest-starred on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a special all-BTS episode. They traveled around New York City, played games in a subway car, and had a great time. Lastly, at the end of the episode, BTS made history as they perform their title track “ON” at Grand Central Terminal in New York City.

Overall, this performance was unique and unexpected. One of the best kinds we could get. After the show, BTS released a BTS Episode with the behind-the-scenes, showing us how hard they worked on the performance. They even talked about the fact that they only had a short window to record the performance, at nearly four-in-the-morning as Grand Central Station couldn’t be closed off for too long.

You can watch this video here:

Zayn Malik attends the Off-White fashion show during the September 2024

Zayn Malik has announced that he is set to go on his first-ever solo tour – 9 years after he left One Direction.

The singer revealed on social media that he will be going on tour in just 35 days, marking the first time he’s toured since he was in the iconic X-Factor formed boyband.

The six-date UK tour will commence in the UK in Edinburgh on November 20, with stops in Leeds, Manchester, London, and Wolverhampton, before concluding on   December 3 in Newcastle.

The tour will also stretch into the US, kicking off on October 25 for five dates across major cities.

The announcement is hugely exciting – but there’s a major catch as the singer is only performing at intimate small venues across the UK.

This means fans will be fighting for less than 20,000 UK tickets for what is set to be a hugely sought-after, and long-awaited tour.

Capacity at Zayn Malik's concert venues

O2 Academy in Edinburgh – 3,000

O2 Academy in Leeds – 2,300

O2 Apollo in Manchester – 3,500

Eventim Apollo in London – 5,300 (partially standing) or 3,341 (seated)

Wolverhampton The Halls – 3,400

O2 City Hall in Newcastle – 2,135

One Direction at the Brit Awards 2014

Since leaving the boyband One Direction in 2015, the singer has released four solo albums titled: Mind of Mine (2016), Icarus Falls (2018), Nobody is Listening (2021), and Room Under the Stairs (2024).

His first album was a huge success and included tracks such as Pillowtalk, Like I Would, and Wrong featuring Kehlani.

Press image from Zayn Malik's upcoming tour

Following the success of this debut album the artist was scheduled to perform at several promotional events.

However, he cancelled his gig at the Capital Summertime Ball. He apologised to fans and blamed his ‘anxiety’. He then cancelled other promotional appearances and performances as he continued to struggle with the ‘worst anxiety of his career.’

pic.twitter.com/YmVQ2estd2 — zayn (@zaynmalik) June 11, 2016

The post read: ‘To all those people who have been waiting to see me perform at the Capital Summertime Ball today. I flew into the UK last night to appear in my home country in front of my family, friends and, most importantly, my UK fans.

‘Unfortunately, anxiety, which has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has got the better of me… with the magnitude of the event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career.

‘I cannot apologize enough, but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me. I promise I will do my best to make this up to everybody I’ve let down today.

‘I know those who suffer from anxiety will understand, and I hope those who don’t can empathize with my situation.’

Zayn performs at The O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on May 17, 2024

The 31-year-old crashed Jimmy Fallon’s talk show for the second time in six months last night to announce his tour.

The host was ‘shocked’ as last night Zayn approached the host with a mug and a note.

‘Zayn! Wait Zayn?’ said Jimmy feigning surprise.

The singer then put on one of his new tunes, danced a little, handed Jimmy the note, and exited the stage.

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video

Reading the note Jimmy said in a very poor English accent: ‘Hey Jimmy, great to see you mate. I’m going on me first-ever solo tour this autumn.

‘So maybe when you’re done picking apples with ya buds you can come check out my Stairway to the Sky tour across the US and UK.

‘I’m making an official announcement tomorrow morning, let me know what date you wanna come.’

Zayn previously pulled off a similar stunt when he appeared on the show in March to hand Jimmy a note announcing his then-new single What I Am.

Zayn crashes TV show to make huge announcement

Since his initial success he has yet to announce a tour, so this brand new tour will be huge news for fans who have eagerly followed his solo career for the past nine years.

Following his television announcement fans took to social media to share their excitement.

‘THE WAIT IS OVER!!’ commented Milys_mind on the video from The Tonight Show.

‘I’m crying like after so many years, we’re finally gonna get a zayn tour,’ said AmeeraKane.

Omg I thought this day would never come,’ said Dianaerikapaz.

I hate that I have never gotten to see them once even though I've been a fan of theirs since they debuted. My parents think that they're just some singers in some stupid band and that I am wasting my time listening to them and being a fan of theirs. BTS has been there for me through their music when my parents and family haven't, well I should say when they don't even care except when they want something from me. I have always dreamed of seeing them. I LITERALLY have 2 posters of BTS one from their Butter album and the other one is one I got online from E-bay on one wall, a Jimin poster on the wall above my bed, all 7 Tiny Tans, 2 BTS shirts one a sweatshirt and the other one is a T-shirt, I have the Butter Album, I have a chain necklace with Jungkooks first name initials on it, 2 Jungkook bias rings, a BTS bed set, almost all of their songs downloaded onto my MP3 player, the entire BTS Fanchant wrote on my mirror in Dry Erase marker, had a BTS Birthday Cake for my 16th birthday, a BTS cake topper (From my cake) hanging on my door. I am a DIE-HARD fan of theirs and I live in Indiana (State in America) and all I have EVER wanted to do is to go see them but my parents won't let me. My dad always says whenever he sees me listening to them or watching an MV of theirs "Honey she's listening to those gay boys again" and always asks me why I listen to them when I don't understand what they're singing, I told him and will STILL tell him "I don't care if I don't understand what they're singing, all that matters to me is that they sing for themselves and for ARMY, and I don't need to understand what they're singing its how it sounds that matters to me." I just wish they'd perform here in Indiana so I'd have a chance to see them in person even if it's for a few minutes that's all I need, just a few minutes and I'll be content. Sorry for venting my problems to you guys heh heh. I 💜 all you guys! Saranghae! Kay!

I hope they come to Greece💗🙏🏻

Come to Ireland!!!!🇮🇪 Please 💜

Dear management, BTS also had a huge fanbase in the Caribbean…I'm from Trinidad and Tobago and would love to have a concert in my area..always hearing how much fabs adore the group…but my motivation as an older fan was hearing them while I was going to surgery after a major accident…not all fans can make it to the countries far away where they perform…I'm recovering well and hopefully would make it to see them perform one day…that's my only " bucket list" wish..

Hope you will include Africa to your list of worldwide tour, to include all the continents. We ARMYS love you guys so much. 💜💜
